The Pirate-Covenant War! Pt. One

Postby Giratina93 » Sun Jan 10, 2010 9:28 pm

A brief word before the story begins... The fiction here is divided nto two main parts. One part descibes the 3 factons o fthe war: The Space Pirates, the Covenant, and the Humans. Each of those will get their own chapter. The second part (Which is still under the title of Pt.1,) is the actual story. Most of the information here may be inaccurate, so if it is, anyone can PM me so that I can update it...

Chapter 1: The Space Pirates.

The space Pirates are a race of aliens that plunder and steal stuff from other aliens, much like Covenant Jackals. Apperance-wse, they look somewhat similar to Elites, but shorter, and with built-in blasters and swords. Some Space Pirates are able to cloak themselves so as to sneak around and sabotauge enemy lines from behind, but at the cost of their blasters being functional. While very intelligent, they lack spacecraft, so their main method of travelnig the cosmos is via captured Spacecraft from other alien races. When faced with certain death, they'll commit suicide, a trait especially well seen with Aeropirates, which will attempt Kamikazi dives at their attacker when at the brink of death. Though they are known to keep pets, the SPace Pirates are cruel and merciless, and enjoy slaughtering and plundering. Their leadership class in a mystery, though they obey their rulers like a bee hive obeys the queen. It is thought that the entity known as Ridley was their leader until Mother Brain took over, but even that's just speculation, with their mention of a "High Command". Space Pirates are known for experimentng on creatures, even their own kind, giving rise to such monstosities such as the Omega Pirate, the Breserker Lord, and the Phazon Pirate. With near limitless resources and their ability of being able to use virtually any kind of weapon, the Space Pirates are not a force to underestimate...

Chapter 2. The Covenant.

The covenant are a conglomerant of alien races that have been taken over and conquered over millenium. At the very core of the Covenant are it's religious leaders, the Prophets. Although frail in nature, the rest of the Covenant worship them as dietys, and almost never question their authority. Due to inbreeding, the Prophets arevery rare, and the vast majority of them live in High Charity. Their main body guards, the Elites, are intelligent, proud warriors whom all share a code of honor. The more kills that an Elite makes, the higher up it ranks. resembling humanoid lizards in armor plating, the Elites are incredibly strong, as one Elite Minor is capable of gonig toe-to-toe with a Spartan. Their counterparts, the Brutes, are even more powerful, but very dull-witted. gorilla-like beings with rhino skin, a Brute can physically take on almost any challenger. Unlike the rest of the Covenant, the Brutes use very primitive weaponry with spieks and ballistic projectiles. On the net level down on the heirachy chain are the Hunters, whom are the largest and the strongest of the Covenant's forces. Each Hunter is made up of dozons of worms, and Hunters are always found in pairs. On one hand, they carry shields whch are capable of deflecting all small-weapons fire, while on the other, they carry Fuel Rod cannons that can swap between beams and projectiles. Next in line are the Drones. insectoid creatures, they use ant-gravity panels bult into their wings to enable then to fly. At the bottom of the Covenant chain are the Jackles, and below them, the Grunts. Resembling bipedal birids, Jackals are superb snipers, and are able to pick off foes even with their backs turned, (As some Halo 2 Legendary players have found out the hard way on Metropolis...) Grunts, on the other hand, are the cannon-fodder of the Covenant. being reptilian creatures the size of wolfs, they've been known to be hurled against enemy fortifications till the ground's littered with their carcasses. The repairmen of the Covenant, Engineers resemble floating Sea slugs with tentacles coming out of their stomachs. Able to project shielding over any units around them, Enginners don't care if the person with the broken gun their fixing is Covenant or not; they just want to fix the gun. With so many alien races, each wth their own unique weaponry, the Covenant's a formidable force, and one that's seemingly unstoppable...

Chapter 3. Humanity

Human bengs... there's something remarkable about them. Despite being techologicly inferor to the other 2 factions, they are able to win the vast majorty of the ground battles. After hundreds of years of research, it's been discovered that humans are slowly growing taller and taller. Back in the 21st century, the average heght of a young man was about 6ft 3. Now, in the year 2535, the average height for a 17 year old girl is 7ft 5 inches, making them the same heght as the Space Pirates. weaponry-wise, humans are at the lower end of the scale, using ballistic weaponry not unlike that of the Brutes, who had just rediscovered the Radio when they were assimilated into the Covenant. With their intelligence on par with that of the Elites, but having the strength of Grunts, Humans are able to devise plans and trap their enemies with ease. For ground battle, their Scorpion tanks and gunshps of the same name can decimate Banshees and Wraiths, while Hawks and Hornets pave away almost all infantry. For Space Battles, their warships are armed with Archer Missles and a few nkes when truly monstrous enemy ships come into play. THeir main weapon, though, is the MAC gun, which fires a projective at such high speeds, it can cut clean through any Covenant ship that isn't over kilometers long. For everything else, ther's the orbital MAC guns, which blow up everythnig else with their much larger rounds. Despite these weaponry, the Humans are currently loosing the war, due to the Covenant ship's superior firepower, and the Space Pirate's ability to hijack their ships with little effort. Current estimates place the demse time of Humanity within 2 decades, if drastic action isn't taken soon...

Chapter 4: Jerico VII
0700 hours, February 10, 2535 (Miltary calender) Onboard Ridleys' Flagship

Space Pirate commander Ridley awoke, his eyes blood shot. A dull-red light filled his blury vision and the Space Dragon choked on the slime in his lungs and throat.
"Good Morning,Ridley" a vaguly feminine voice said. "Sit up. Take a deep breath and cough, sir. You need to clear the Bronical Surfactant."
Rildey psuhed himself up, peeling his back and wings off the form-fitting gel bed. Wisps of fog overflowed from the cryogenic tube as he clumsily climbed out. The Space Dragon sat down on a metallic bench, tred to inhale, and doubled over, coughing until a long string of clear fluid flowed from his open mouth.
He sat up and sucked in his first breath in two weeks. He licked his jaws and almost gagged. the cryo inhalant was specificly made to be regurgitated and swallowed, to restore lost nurtients. No matter how many times Science Team had changed the formula, it always tasted to him as lime-flavored mucus. The minute he would get back to Zebes, He'd rip Scence Team a new one until they made it better...
"Status, Mother Brain? Are we under attack?"
"Negative, Rdley..." The ship's central computer said. Status normal. We will be joned by the rest of the fleet in 1 hour. Soon, we will assault thsi Human-controlled world..."
"Perfect..." The Space dragon replied, a devilish grin spread across his face. "Soon, this world will also be under our control, and the inferior party of lowlifes known as the Covenant will have to suck it... Not to mention I'll be able to do what I do best... slaughtering innocent people by the millions!"
The Space Dragon rose to his feet, his head somewhat throbbing from the awful taste. Despite the fact that they were in orbit above a human- controlled world, they were invisible, thanks to their cloakingi technology. As Ridley shook away the pain and groginess, a small flating mechanical sphere jutted uot from a wall beside him, a single eye placed in the mddle of it.
"ETA of the rest of the fleet in 40 minutes." Mother Brain announced, the eye in the center of the sphere closed.

"Good... Wake up the rest of the personell onboard, and tell them that were almost ready to attack!"

Chapter Five: The Assault
0745 Hours, February 10th, 2535(Military Calender) Onboard Ridley's Flagship

The bridge was full of activity. Space Pirates went to their stations, taking off the auto-pilot and regaining control of their vessel. Ridley watched as his crew got ready, an old burnnig passion barly visible in the Space Dragon's eyes.
"Detecting multiple Slipspace ruptures around us! Ruptures identical to that of other Space Pirate vessels..." the Mother Brain spoke, now speaking through a floating mechanical eye.
"Good, now we can finally get this show on the road!" Ridley snarled impatiently. The Space Dragon trusted Mother Brain's decisions, and for good reason. The Mother brain was somewhat similar to the human's AI's, but the Mother Brain was special. She was constructed by the Chozo, an race of aliens that resembled birds, even right on down to the feathers. The Chozo themselves used to be the most techologicly advanced species in the cosmos, but never went to war. WHile they were intelligent, they suffered from inbreeding, so when Ridley and the SPace Pirates came alnog and took Mother Brain, they put them out of their misery...
All around the Flagship, numerous holes opeend up, and dozons of ships came through, each of them over 2 kilometers in length. Unlke RIdley's own Flagship, which he had designed and buld himself, the rest of his ifleet were stolen CIS Seperatist shps that had been hijacked durng a battle over the planet Geonosis 20 years ago. As Rdley looked at his impressve fleet, he noticed that one of them, being 40% larger than the rest, was covered in Vulture Droids, a reminder of how he had forced them to submit to the SPace Pirates.
"We are picking up activity planetsde, Ridley!" One of the Space Pirates barked out. "It appears as though the Covenant beat us here..."
Snarling in disbelief, the Space Dragon stormed over toward the main display on the Bridge, the image their showing the planet. He had heard that the planet was very beautiful, but he had not imagined it like this. Instead of the lush forests and lakes he had heard about, their was snow covering the entire planet. As Ridley looked closer, he noticed that the poles seemed to shine, evidence that the planet had been glassed there.
"Great... We got beaten here by some bastardized freaks who glasss the place so that we can't have it" Ridley growled as he smashed his fist onto the ground. "No matter. Have all ships send out their dropships onto the planet. We're taking this planet for our own use, and if there be any Covenant or Human forces there, all the better. I've been itching for some killnig..."
"Yes, RIdley..." Mother Brain responded...

Chapter 6. Groundside
0820 hours, February 10, 2535 (Military Calender) Planetside

Colonel Parkerson shivered alongside hsi troops as they all tried to keep warm. He still couldn't believe how rapidly it had hapened. Hell, one minute, he was in the Barraks trainnig his personel, the next minute everythnig around him ihad been on fire as the Covenant Fleet glassed most of the planet. They hadn't even glassed all the dang planet. Somethnig clicked inside the colonel's head. this wasn't normal. The only other time the Covenant hadn't completly glassed another planet was Harvest, and even then he didn't kn-
A dark shadow flew overhead and the colonel and hsi remaining troopslooked up, out of the hole of the Scorpion Tank they were hiding in. numerous dropshps, more than he could have imagined, began to land around the area. At first, he thought they were UNSC Pelicans, but closer observations revealed that these were more bulky and elongated that Pelicans, with small holes dotting the edge of the ships lke those of an insect.
"Bloody hell..." One of the marines next to him wispered. "Space Pirates."
"Great...we barly survive one group of alien freaks only to be in the midst of a party of another." The colonel growled. "How on earth did we even get ourselves into a war against TWO warring Alien groups?"
None of his marines spoke, even though they all knew the answer. 0 years ago, the Planet Harvest had been vivited by the Covenant, who thought the planet was some to "Foreunner Relics." When they had meet humanity, they a tfirst tried to do peace negotiations, but an icident quickly shattered the peace. In the end, the full Covenant Armada arrived and glassed msot of Harvest, though most of the population on said planet had been evacuated. 5 years later, both Covenant and UNSC ships began to be pirated by the Space Pirates, whom were trying to make themselves the ruler of the Galaxy. Naturally, both Humanity and the Covenant declared war on the Space Pirates, escalating the conflict to it's present area.
A loud thud sounded from above the COlonel and his Marines. Parkerson tried to look out of the hole to see what had caused it, but somethnig scaly was blocking his view...
Scaley?
"Oh ****!" Parkerson yelled as the top of the Scorpion Tank was ripped off, and a large reptilian head looked down at the frightened marines, an evil glare in the beast's eyes.
"Well well well, what do we have here? Seems like there's still some targets for practice around..." the monster hissed as it flipped the tank over, spilling out the marines onto the ground. Parkerson looked around in fright, and realized that they were completly surrounded by Space Pirates. He tried to count them all mentally, but lost track at 40. There had to be thousands of them. One of the Space Pirates approached, then bowed down low to the reptilian dragon.
"Lord Ridley, what do you wish for us to do with these humans?" the Space Pirate asked, his voice calm, but filled with glee and anticipation.
"Simple... kill the one with the badge, and have the rest of them be put to use..." Ridley snarled, the Space dragon began to march off into the frozen forest, followed by thousands of Space Pirates. Parkerson yelped as he was yanked onto hsi feet, the last thing he saw was a large scyth being swung at his neck...

Chapter 7. Recon
0900 hours, February 10th, 2535 (Military Caldender) Planetside

As the snow fell around them, Ridley made his way up a small hill, 4 Space Pirates around him. The space dragon had to be careful. He had sent two squads of SPace Pirates up here before, and hadn't heard from them since...Ridley looked down at the ground, noticing barly-visible footprints there. There were some that matched those of the Space Pirates, but the newer ones seemed mor eape-like, and dwarfed the Space Pirate prints.
"Brutes..." Ridley softly snarled. he himself knew how powerful the baby Kongs could be. Ridley had seen a single Brute clear it's way through a Marine Bunker, killing the dozons of Marines inside with ease. The presense of them here made this ground-side attack even more dangerous.
As the dragon arrived at the top of the hill, he flattened himself against the ground, as did the rest of his group. Before him lay a large Covenant Camp, Wraiths and Locusts patroling the area. Jackals in watch towers scanned the area for intruders, but failed to see Ridley or his Space Pirates, due to the blanket of snow that had fallen ontop of them. Clearing away the falling snow from his eyes, the Space Dragon noticedthat several Locusts were firing at a large crater in the ground, persumably escavating something. Grunts and Hunters moved away large rocks from the crater, most of them filled with silver and platinum.
"Why exactly are we diggni ghere on this forsakeen rock?" A voci egrowled from Ridley's left side. The Space Dragon turned slightly to see two Brutes, one of them a Captain, while the other was a Chieftain. From his angle, it appeared as though the Captain was upset.
"The Luminaries have located a Relic here on this Planet, and we're diggin git out so that we may take posession of it here..." The Chieftain responded, tosssing his Gravity Hammer into the air and catchni git again.
"But what of the Space Pi-"
"I DON'T CARE IF THE BLOODY SPACE PIRATEs GET HERE! Even if they do, we have more firepower than thwey can take!" The Chieftain roared. "Now get back to overseein gthe Grunts, or I'll have your entrails paraded across High Charity and be feed to the Jackals!"
Havin gheard enough, Ridleyslowly backed himself off the hill and out of the snow drift, his other Space Pirates already out.
"So, Ridley, what are we gonig to do about those brutes and the Relic they're uncovering? One of the Space Pirates asked.
"Quite simple..." Ridley sneered, a devilish grin spreading across his face. "We're goin gto do exactly what I did 500 years ago to the K-8 colony... Wipe out everyoen here, take the relic, and this time NOT LEAVE A SINGLE BEING ALIVE!"

Chapter 8. Attack
0950 hours, February 10, 2535 (Miltary calender) Planetside

Now back at the camp he had set up, Ridley watched as 3 large CIS frigates flew into the atmosphere of the planet and slowed down to a hault abvoe the camp. The undersides of the frigates opened up, and numerous Landing Crafts flew out of the frigates and landed on the ground. A smile came across the Space Dragon's face as legions of Space Pirates came out of the Landing Crafts, as well as hundreds of Spider Tank droids and Hellfire Droids. These had been onboard the frigates when Ridley and his crew took over from their previous owners, and had been a great asset for his war machine.
"All space pirates!" Ridley roared out to the army, whom turned and saluted their leader. "we are heading off toward a Covenant Camp to slaughter them all there and take whatever they've uncovered for ourselves. They have some pretty powerful vehicles and weapons, so get whatever firepower you need and hustle up! We're going to launch the assault in 2 minutes, so don't dilly-dally!"
The space pirates nodded, then resumed their work, many of them fitting themselves with cloaking devices, while others got their equipment all set up. With a final look a this army, the great Space Dragon made his way up the hill, his entire army following him. At the top, RIdley looked down at the Covenant camp. The Locusts were vacant, except for one, and the Wraiths were inactive, with numerous sleeping grunts around. More importantly, all the Jackals in the watchtowers were empty.
"Alright space pirates..." Ridley snarled as he turned to face his army. "There lies the Covenant Camp. Go ahead... Kill as much as you want! Have fun!"
The Space dragon rose to his hind legs and streached his wings out... the signal to begin the assault. Immediatly, the horde of Space Pirates charged down the hill, letting out a visious battle cry. The sleeping grunts woke up, and upon seing the advancing army, tried to flee, but were mowed down by scyths and cannons. The remaining Locust turned to fire, but a Hellfire Droid rolled over it, flattening it's driver. All sleeping Brutes and Hunters woke up, and charged uot at the advancing army.
As Ridley flew over the battle, he could see every detail of it. Grunts in shade turrets began to open fire at the army. the Grunts life ended with numerous scyths being plunged into their bodies. several War Chieftains, having been caught off guard, were unable to retailiate in time as they were buried beneath a sea of Space Pirates.
High up ontop of a cliff overlooking the Covenant Camp, the Brute Chieftain and his captain from earlier watched as their forces were being slaughtered by the Space Pirates.
" Sigh... How? HOW CAN THIS GET AN WORSE?!" The Chieftain roared, his Captain slowly edged up toward him.
"Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, sir, but when we opened the relic, we found somethnig, something horrible, somethnig that took over our troops..."

If you need help with the Covenant, just look at the Covenant Database I posted in the Random Topic. It's pretty far down, but it'll help.

Looks very cool, but one thing: Hunters are only made up of dozens of worms, not thousands (Lekgolo worms are a meter long).

Looks pretty promising so far. It'd be cool if you have Samus and Master Chief fighting side-by-side, which I'm guessing you will.

The story is good, but man, gira- do you check for spelling errors? There are so many errors in the last 3 that I didn't even count. However, the errors don't make the story unreadable, or worse, I'm just pointing it out so someone more picky doesn't get all pissy about it.
