Chapter 1: Relics of Death

It was dawn when the storm came. The Assault Carrier “Death’s Juggernaut” came into orbit above Sanghelios, homeworld to the alien warrior race called Sangheili, also known by humans as “Elites” due to their skill and truly terrifying ferocity in combat. The Sangheili were one of the highest members of the “super organization” known as “The Covenant”, based on the homeworld High Charity of another race of alien-like creatures called San’Shyuum or also known as “Prophets”. However, ever since a war called “The Great Schism” took place, genocide against the Sangheili race on High Charity and their Councilors, the Sangheili have made a fragile alliance with the humans along with a number of the Unggoy (Grunts) and Lekgolo (Hunters) though some joined the Prophets side and were possibly eradicated as well along with the Jiralhanae. The Jiralhanae came into the Covenant at a very recent time along with a number of other extra-terrestrial species, but they along with the Kig-Yar (Jackals) and Yanme’e (Drones) and Huragok (Engineers) were the most known alien species in Covenant military. After the Alpha Halo, a great weapon of unimaginable power was activated, and eradicated the Flood, the Arbiter, Rtas ’Vadumee, N’tho ‘Sroam and Usze ‘Taham along with the main fighting force of the Covenant Separatists called S.A.F. (Sangheili Armed Forces) returned back to Sanghelios. 10 years have passed without a war with the Sangheili. The humans are re-colonizing most of the planets that were taken from them and those that they have yet to find. They have begun to rebuild Earth and restore it, half of Africa became a desolate wasteland after it was glassed by the Sangheili in order contain a biochemical creature known as the Flood or “The Parasite”. The Sangheili Government, though without the assistance of the Prophets in the areas of science and technology have learned to prosper from this on their own.

Death’s Juggernaut, an Assault Carrier of the Sangheilian Fleet, arrives through slipspace after returning from a scouting mission in space. The ship was just like any other with the usual rooms and floors with the silvery grey colour and pink and purple walls and automatic doors which ran along the ship’s decks. The ships crew was mainly Covenant Elites along with Grunts and Hunters who joined the Separatists in The Great Schism. The Covenant Elites stood tall and proud in their armour. The Covenant Elite was a reptilian type of creature that stood tall like a human only larger at an average height of 8’6” feet tall or 2.2 metres and weighing almost 150 kilograms. The Sangheili were masters of all types of combat, especially hand to hand. They wielded mostly Plasma weaponry from a Plasma Pistol to a Fuel Rod Gun.
The halls themselves were bright as if finely polished and the only sound that would normally go around in these halls was the sound of patrols on the move through the corridors or the slight chattering of the occasional Grunts. The command room of the ship was a large room with several doors leading into it. It had a huge ramp in its center leading up to a large round table with special chairs and a few metres away from that a large round hole, smoothed out with a hologram of a system of planets. Just away from that sat a large floating throne. Not one like the Prophets but actually was more round and in front of that was a large viewing hologram of space stretched far across the room. Around the window below were computer terminals manned by Covenant Elites. There was also the Huragok, who helped out whenever things needed repairs or just ripped apart to gain access to data. The Engineers were a non fighting race either which is why they were so easily accepted into the Covenant. They only are there to repair and dismantle. On the throne sat a proud Zealot, branded in the famous golden armour that his rank wielded in power. They were the generals of the Sangheili, the Field Masters, Ship Masters and Fleet Commanders being the first Zealots. Then after them were Supreme Commanders and the rank all Sangheili Warriors died for, the Imperial Admiral and after that aside from the ranks in Security, Honor Guards and Councilors was one that was higher than this, the mighty Arbiter which was a proud warrior only doned with the armour once in a long time only in a time of great need.
The Zealot Elite’s golden armour with a mix of Green and Sage as Secondary along with Armour detail, his insignia, the curved scar-like symbol on the side of his chest plate was white. His name was Kepe ’Kulom. He was the average height of any Sangheilian warrior. Not an old warrior, an adult at the age of 36. He started off mainly older than most of his peers when he went up the ranks, slaughtering any in his path that stood before him. Not too long ago, aristocrats were forbidden to marry so that “sword genes” could be passed onto the youngsters and half the time generals were extremely busy and would be fewer dependant on the Sangheili they mate with. But now with the Covenant broken there is less need for duty and so the rule changed, allowing generals to also marry and breed just like the minor ranks and also they are allowed to choose what the secondary colour of their armour is. Kepe ‘Kulom was a good leader and specialized in mostly leadership. He had always had a passion to wield the Energy Sword just like all the other generals and after achieving the rank of the Major Domo, he earned the experience to wield the legendary blade first hand.

Kepe had an unusual pair of green eyes which was rare among the Sangheili, they normally had brown, almond or black eyes but his were a mixture between emerald and dark green. Scars went along some of his body as proof of his ferocious experiences of combat. One of the Minor Domo’s turned to Kepe at a terminal in the center.
“Sir, we have arrived in orbit, dispatching beacon now.”
“Good, let them know of our arrival. I want to be down there before the Patriarch has our heads.”
His voice sounded deep but a serious tone.
The Minor nodded and pressed a number of buttons and codes on the terminal.
“Activating primary thrusters.”
Immediately the sound of an engine rising was heard and then the ship boosted toward Sanghelios. The planet itself on the outside was similar to Earth but more redder and had more separate landmasses. Immediately the Covenant Cruiser broke into the atmosphere. The light of the sun went across the clouds so brightly that it was almost blinding. Quickly the huge ship broke in through clouds where the view of the ground was below.
“Such beauty.” Commented Kepe, admiring the view of the ground and sky from the hologram.
“We’re clear for landing sir.” Said another Elite at the Terminal.
The Cruiser proceeded toward the ground. A group of large temples came into view. They were safeguards for a town called Selone which was one of the major cities of Sanghelios. The city then came into view, several enormous spires rose up with a number of other towers surrounding them. Streets and houses then started to appear. Not far away from the Juggernaut was other Covenant Cruisers on the move along with Phantoms and Banshees which zoomed past the hologram screen on flight training. Eventually they reached an area where a group of Cruisers were positioned in the sky, stationary with grav-lifts on the ground. The round black platforms embedded in the ground.

An Elite in clad white armour came walking into the command room. It was a female. Her chest was what gave that gender away and her feminint voice. "Sir, we have arrived." He said.
"Excellant, I am leaving you in charge of the ship until I return, notify me of anything urgent Special Operations Commander Rada 'Volom"
"Yes, my leige."
Kepe nodded in recognition before walking past commander and through a door at the exit of the brig which was in the middle of the other doors and walked on through as it opened. Females used to be very rare to see in the military as they were normally kicked out of the military. Only a few made it and even more difficult to achieve a high rank as well. He immediately was joined by two of his Minor subordinates in blue and dark blue armour. Though the two were the same rank, if a Minor Elite had a dark blue instead of light blue armour it meant that they were almost at the rank of a Major.

A few minutes later Kepe was down the huge lift as the gravity slowly brought him to the platform on the ground level. His subordinates came down with him equipped with Plasma Rifles and Plasma Pistols on their knee pads. Kepe only took an Energy Sword with him and a Plasma Rifle which were also on his knee pads. The sword's handle shone in the sunlight as the three Sangheili warriors took landing. Kepe noticed that the small grass felt familiar as he stepped off the platform. He took a minute to catch the rays of sunlight as they entered over the clouds. The gold light made his armour shine along with his bodyguards. Not far away the city of Selone and it's enormous spires along the hills looked as if they were sacred and untouched. Kepe found it such a peaceful and relaxing time but he knew that they had to keep on going. The Patriarch awaited their presence as it was a critical time at Sanghelios. As the Elites continued on through towards the city, the minor with the dark armour sniffed the air.
"That stench..." He said in a quiet tone. Suddenly the elite looked down at the ground. He looked at what was footprints embedded in the ground and suddenly was in alarm.
"Leader!" He said as the other two Elites were moving away. Kepe turned around to his voice.
"What is it?"
The darker subordinate didn't say a word but pointed with his index finger on his left hand. Kepe and the lighter minor elite crouched down and kneeled at the footprints.
"Look at these footprints here, these are ours." Said the darker subordinate pointing to the other two elites quadracepts. The hooved footprints were walking side by side as humans might when on the move. Then the grunt pointed to some other footprints moving, separating from the others that were seemingly different. They were two hoof-like prints but more pointy with a large round circle joined to it with a small point in the middle like a spike. Kepe looked toward where these footprints were leading. They headed toward a spire in the distance in particular. Kepe also noticed other footprints, these were padded like triangles and were also headed to the spire.
"Sir, are they what I fear these might be?" Said the lighter blue minor in worry.
"Yes, these are Jiralhanae no doubt. But how could they get on Sanghelios, Brutes much less Jackals couldn't even lay a step on here without receiving a beam shot to the head." Said Kepe in a concerned tone.
"But I can't understand how it was even possible. Still why though? We defeated their fleets that belonged to that wretched ******* Truth. Thank the gods the Arbiter brought his death." Said the light blue minor.

The darker minor got up and looked toward the spire.
"Sir, we should be moving."
"Indeed subordinate, we'll have to see the Patriarch first." Kepe said as he also got up with the other subordinate.
There was serious trouble ahead now...

Chapter 2: Arch Rivals

As the three Elites trudged on across the grassland they reached a large road leading into the city. At that point was a group of 5 Minor Elites in Light Blue and a Major Domo standing at a huge bus-like vehicle called a Shadow. The massive bus was armed with a shade turret that sat on the top with a ramp leading down from it like a slide. The Shadow's Shade turret could fire more rapidly than most turrets normally could and it could also drive at a reasonable speed but not to outrun a Warthog, Spectre or Prowler. It could also be equipped underneath it with a set of seats for passengers and also could be equipped with a Ghost if needed to deploy a defense. This one had seats underneath it.

The Major Elite walked up to Kepe. He was armed with a Needler on his belt and a Plasma Rifle at the right leg. The Minors were armed with Covenant Carbines. The long weapons equal to a Battle Rifle but more rapid in firepower were very menacing, even in the sunlight. The blue sky was showing.
"Field Master, the Patriarch is waiting for you. He ordered us to pick you up. Come, we will get you to him." Said the Major Domo.
Kepe nodded and he along with his two bodyguards jumped on the seats of the Shadow with him in between the two. The Minor Elites with the Major hopped in the seats. One took up Gunner position and another was Driver whilst the Major sat to the right of Kepe and his Subordinate which was the dark Minor. His lighter minor was at his left. Immediately the Shadow lifted from the ground due to it's propulusion drive and headed toward the city. The Patriarch had to know of the intruders here, at Selone...

Selone's city streets were massive as well as had plenty of space for smaller streets which divided into intersections with houses here and there. Many of the population here wore armour but some wore civilian clothing. Selone was one of the largest cities in Sangheilios and the world population of Sangheili on Sanghelios was over 8 Billion. Suprisingly the Sangheili's homeworld was not so polluted as their technology did not require the use of motor fuel unlike the humans as it was far more advanced. Also the reason why it was mainly that Sangheili wore armour here was because Selone was also famous for having a number of arenas meant for fighting but with certain rules and regulations that enforced this. The temples around Sanghelios were meant for those who did prayers or special rituals and those female sangheili that trained to be Priestess's. The young would often be playing around here and in the city. Originally when the young were born they had tails but these fell off after a few days because this helped them to balance and walk until they could stand upright. After that the tails disappeared with no pain whatsoever. In the midst of all the hustle and bustle that was happening, a Zealot, a Field Master in her pure Gold armour, Nham'Aenur was walking alone. She was off to training and was also armed with an Energy Sword at the left. Unlike most elites, she was left-handed, giving her an advantage over most elites who preferred right-hand. She was three years younger than Kepe but all the same a tough adversary to those that crossed her. All the same though, calm and peaceful at other times. She only got herself the armour by killing a number of the Brutes upon High Charity after her fleet took a heavy toll, they retreated then to Sanghelios where they stayed. Today she was on her own. Her fleet stood stationary at the landing docks.

Nham' headed around another corner through the city streets. She suddenly encountered something interesting, a large commotion taking place. Elites, those in the military and those who were simple civilians dressed in their cloaks and robes were gathered in a large circle. Nham' walked up to the crowd. She frowned as the Elites chattered to each other. She pushed through the crowd with ease. Most of them moved aside as she stepped through. "What was going on here... she wondered. Finally after pushing through the crowd she saw it. In front of her stood two Elites. One of them was in Gold, also a Zealot and the other was an Ultra as it had grey-white armour. The two both looked badly hurt with newly scars and blood across their faces. They were breathing heavily with the looks of demons across their eyes as they glared at each other. Neither was armed but it looked as if there was slash marks. Immediately the two began growling and throwing insults at each other.
"Garrgh! You might think your strong Ship Master, but your overconfidence denies you of that fact. You are blind just as you were as a Commander!" Yelled the Ultra.
"Hah! You might think that Ultra but it is you that is the fool. Especially in front of a general. Your clan was always a shameful and you are just the same. It's no wonder you have the rank of field commander, because of no-good pitiful trickery!" Taunted the Zealot.
The Ultra growled before charging at the Zealot and smashing him across the face with his fist. The Zealot then angrily grabbed his foe by the neck and then brought his left hoof on his leg, trying to break the bone in the middle where the knee was. Though elites were highly flexible in combat, a broken knee would prevent any form of flexibility. For the Ultra, this was excruciating. The Ultra bellowed. Nham' pushed through the crowd. She growled at the opposing Zealot who was smirking at his enemy who seemed less mightier than he thought. The Zealot stopped and turned to the female. The opposer let go of the Ultra and loosened his foot on his knee as the Ultra crumpled below. The Ultra quickly dragged himself aside, and then picked himself and hobbled on away from the struggle. The Zealot seemed to calm at the sight Nham and smiled before clicking his mandibles together as in recognition. Nham' didn't buy it and continued to glare.
"What is the meaning of this atrocity Ship Master?!" growled Nham'.
"Why Field Master, it was the lower subordinate who started it. He offended my clan." Said the Zealot in an amused tone.
The injured Ultra who was moving into the crowd stopped, rubbing his wrist and turned to the opposer before growling "Only because he made a joke that my mate was a breeder and nothing more just like ALL females. Even those in the military!"
Immediately the elites in the crowd began with their "ooooh!" cries in amusement. Nham was not unsettled by the least. In her glare she studied the distance between herself and the opposer and knew he was only a few metres from receiving a blade to the throat. But she remained calm. Unexpectandly, the other Zealot made a step toward the Nham. Still amused.
"This lower subordinate lies. Do not let this cloud your judgement Field Master. You and me are both equals that order the lower to do our biddings." He said.
"Your warriors might do that Ship Master but mine follow without question and I do not make them do my 'bidding' either. I treat mine with the respect they deserve. They would die for me just as would the Unggoy and Lekgolo, and I for them. You know nothing about leadership. The Ultra seems to be the truthful one and perhaps it is YOU who blinds the minds of others."
Silence erupted across the area. The male was still not angry. By the look from him, Nham could tell his eyes spoke lust for her. But she knew that if he so much as tried to make an advance on her that tried to make her feel uncomfortable then the male would be her next latest kill. The male took another advance.
"Well it seems you are a very wise female then."

The male suddenly closed the distance between himself and Nham who had not expected that. "You would then best be careful then female. A warrior like you shouldn't have to fight for the Sangheili. We males can handle ourselves just fine without a unnecessary distraction like yourself."
Nham was just about to draw her energy sword. However she knew that it would be best to reconsider. "This Ship Master would be nothing without his fleet backing him up..." She thought to herself. The male walked off. Just then, the sound of hovering was heard and from nearby a Shadow came floating along the pathway. On the bus was a Field Master in gold and green mixed with sage armour. Kepe glared at the Ship Master who looked at the Shadow.
"Inda'Forgad, I see that even your rank as an aristocrat has not changed your rash and naive nature."
"Kepe'Kulom. I would rather die than fight a week individual like you!" Hissed the Ship Master.
"I saw what was going on from a distance away. I would watch it. This Ultra could be better than you when he too becomes a general like me." He said.
Inda'Forgad growled before storming off.
"Kepe your clan will always be full of a family of thieves, blind by their own beliefs. Disgraceful to many others who are wise. You are filled with delusions Kepe. I might watch it. You might just receive a sword to the chest." Growled Inda'Forgad before storming off.

The crowd then cleared off. The Ultra said his thanks before he tried to hobble away. Two civillian elites came and carried him away. The only one that was left there was Nham'Aenur. She turned to Kepe with a hint of a smile but serious all the same. Kepe looked over at Nham.
"Well it appears I don't know your name female."
"It is Nham'Aenur Field Master. And I must say it is an honour to meet you Kepe."
"And I, you Nham."
Kepe' looked out to the morning sun as the sky opened revealing clear blue sky across the city of Selone.
"I must say Nham, are you heading somewhere?" He asked.
Nham looked back at him and smiled a bit. He certainly was friendly enough.
"Yes Kepe I am off to see the Patriarch. I need to report to him."
Something appeared to flash past Kepe's eyes quickly as he raised his eyes in suprise.
"That is where I am also headed. May I request a lift there Nham?"
Nham looked into Kepe's eyes to see if he betrayed anything of misfortune. Kepe's eyes hid nothing and then she nodded. Quickly the light blue minor bodyguard of Kepe on his right move over a seat to make room as Nham jumped up on the seat. The Shadow then took off down the road at a fast pace. Kepe looked at Nham a moment before turning his attention to the area in front of him as buildings past. He smiled to himself for a minute. "I think we might just get along just nicely he thought to himself..."

Ok so basically here are the first two chapters. I have seen a lot of fanfics in here relating to mainly Jurassic Park and Dinosaurs. A lot of them are very good. Yet I am trying a more different approach involving Halo. The Sangheili, or Covenant Elites are very fascinating I find. I feel bonded to their character because they have that warrior side to myself. I did my own fanfic last year but it was too far out of the realms of reality that I had to scrap the whole idea and redo it from scratch. Now I've reshaped it much better than it was last time. Healthy Criticizim is allowed. I would like it very much too. Oh and another thing, I plan on making a series of Fanfics based around this and another series based on Dragons but I am leaving that for the moment. This is like the first "novel" you might say that's coming to shape. Anyway's Chapter 3 will be done when I get around to it, enjoy!

Thanks very much. And yes if there is any criticism that you would like to share, I'm more than happy to hear about it. I think KP explained that in the rules anyway as long as it is explanitory. So yes, I just won't care if you say it's crap or anything like that. Please explain why otherwise.
