The Lord of Terror vs. the Guardian of Earth

Have you got a game, book or movie you'd like to make a story out of? Want to expand on a story or plot that stopped? Have an original idea for a story that you want to post somewhere? Here's where to do it. Basically an RPG where one player controls ALL characters in the story.

The Lord of Terror vs. the Guardian of Earth

Postby dinoman666 » Wed May 06, 2009 2:14 am

Prologue:

65 million years ago...

Poor, pitiable Earth. So small, so isolated, so seemingly pointless. At least, that's what the mighty beast thought as he flew towards the tiny blue planet. Just simply another planet in his path, and another that would be destroyed, just like the rest. Of course, the space dragon would have no such luck this time...

Dinosaurs everywhere across the surface of Earth looked up as a form streaked down through the sky, slamming into the ocean and bringing up a massive plume of water. Tidal waves near the coast of what would later be Mexico washed away any nearby creatures that were unfortunate enough to be in their path. Of course, that wasn't it, not by a long shot. Over the course of several days, the rock in the ocean floor slowly grew, releasing powerful shocks of electricity, which altered the skies above, darkening them with ominous clouds, and killing sea creatures everywhere nearby. Land beast instinctively avoided the area around the Gulf of Mexico, as little good as it would do. Soon, soon he would awaken...

Several weeks later...

Suddenly, at the crack of dawn, the water exploded up and out as a massive form was released from its stony prison and launched itself into the air. Shimmering golden scales. Three, snaking heads ending in toothy, biting mouths. Fierce, red eyes. Massive, spiked wings that cast a shadow over the land. Lord Ghidorah had finally awoken, and he wasted no time landing on the shore and beginning his dark work. The dark clouds above brought down lighting bolts miles long, which did little to the beast, except rejuvenate him further. The dragon, with no hesitation, began burning the land with his mighty Gravity Beams and wing-based lightning. Everything in the dragon's path was destroyed utterly and rendered lifeless. Mountains were ripped asunder, forests blazed to ruin, and the most powerful organisms on the planet were drained of their lifeforce as Lord Ghidorah painfully tore apart the once-beautiful planet. However, he would soon meet true resistance...

As if Mother Nature herself refused to let her children be destroyed so easily, a gargantuan beast emerged from the very Earth itself, at the base of the largest, mightiest tree on the planet: the Tree of Life. The creature looked like a massive, brown-armored larvae with green, glowing eyes and a shimmering golden horn on its forehead. The giant caterpillar began his slow march to face the Lord of Terror, but would it be all for nought? Would Earth simply become a blank slate, where new life would never arise? To Gigamoth, that wasn't an option. The only option was saving the Earth, and destroying this giant beast of destruction and death before it was too late...

Lord Ghidorah vs. Gigamoth Larvae:

Lord Ghidorah had nearly obliterated an entire forest on the Eastern North American continent, and so far had run into little to no resistance. It wasn't long, however, before he came across an unusual sight. The larvae, raising the front part of his body, stood in front of the dragon, screeching a challenge at him. Confused for a moment, that soon changed when Gigamoth's horn began to glow, before firing a green Elemental Beam at Lord Ghidorah, exploding against the beast's chest. Though it did little more than sting for a moment, it served to anger the dragon, who's mouths glowed yellow, static scattering from the sides, before he fired his Gravity Beams. The lightning-like beams slammed into Gigamoth, sending the unfortunate larvae careening away, back into the still-living area of forest. After a moment, Lord Ghidorah saw movement in the trees, and bombarded them viciously, vaporizing groves of ancient conifers, thousands of years old, cut down like weeds. Nothing remained in the scorched earth, not even a sign of Gigamoth. To the Lord of Terror's surprise, however, the larvae did indeed appear again, but from a completely different area of forest, spraying thin strings of webbing at the dragon. Shaking and zapping the webbing away, Lord Ghidorah looked around, seeing that Gigamoth had disappeared yet again, not knowing the larvae was capable of camouflaging himself in any environment. So it went, Gigamoth firing Elemental Beams and webs at his titanic foe, increasing the beast's anger more and more each time, causing him to burn away more and more of the ancient forest around him. Eventually, the attacks stopped, and Lord Ghidorah continued his rampage, but it was far from over.

Soon, having reached the center of the continent (a much quicker journey than it seems, as the continent was divided from the western side by a shallow sea, which was the Lord of Terror's next target), Lord Ghidorah found himself besieged on all sides. Swarms of angry carnivorous creatures of all shapes and sizes, many of them dinosaurs, charged from the forest, attacking the dragon with unprecedented viciousness. This even cowed Lord Ghidorah into backing away from the frenzied mob, until he spotted something: Gigamoth, rearing up in the middle of the army of dinosaurs, screeching and leading the creatures of Earth onward, snapping at Lord Ghidorah's ankles like rabid animals. The Lord of Terror's look of shock soon turned to hatred, and he retaliated with such fierceness, such brutality, that the animals retreated, being cut down in droves by the dragon's Gravity Beams and lightning bolts from his spiked wings. Eventually, Lord Ghidorah cut his way to Gigamoth, who was desperately trying to rally the lesser creatures around him, only to be tossed through the air over and over by Lord Ghidorah's Gravity Beams, which plucked the larvae from the ground like a tiny flower and thrown across the war-torn wasteland. Beaten and bruised, Gigamoth slinked away, camouflaging himself to escape, blood seeping from cracks in his armor. The Lord of Terror cackled with triumph as his enemies fled before him, back into the forest. Gigamoth, seemingly defeated, retreated slowly back to the Tree of Life, collapsing at its base, the few remaining dinosaurs on the continent watching over the larvae as he sluggishly made a cocoon by spraying his webbing all over his wounded body. The creatures continued their vigil, prepared to greet the arrival of a guardian that would prove to be Lord Ghidorah's undoing...

Lord Ghidorah vs. Gigamoth Imago I:

Without any more resistance, Lord Ghidorah swiftly destroyed what remained of the two halves of the North American continent, then headed towards where Asia would eventually be, destroying any island that caught his eye during the flight. Landing on the coastline, the Lord of Terror waited for a mere moment before continuing his reign of death and destruction, devastating the surrounding countryside. However, the space dragon soon saw something that even made him pause. The Tree of Life, a gargantuan tree nearly as tall as Lord Ghidorah himself, stood in the distance. Eager to acquire the life force of the massive plant, Lord Ghidorah took off again, wanting to get to the Tree of Life as soon as possible. Suddenly, a silver blur flashed by, leaving a deep slash in the space dragon's back, causing the beast to let out a trilling cry of pain and tumble back to earth. However, not even that could keep the Lord of Terror down for long, and he soon was on his feet again. As the wound knitted shut, Lord Ghidorah looked around for his foe, one who could somehow penetrate his thick golden hide. Soon, the creature showed itself, floating down from the sky to face the dragon...

The monster looked like a titanic moth, almost as big as Lord Ghidorah, covered in a silvery metallic armor, which even outlined the edge of its rainbow-colored wings, which made them look like giant blades. Instead of a gold horn, like the Gigamoth larvae, this creature had a V-shaped crest above its glowing green eyes, and at the base of the V was a small, green crystal. It was Gigamoth, in imago form, and it did not hesitate to let out a screech of challenge, crystal glowing brightly. Lord Ghidorah didn't bother trying to dodge the resulting Elemental Laser, but the attack made the dragon stumble back, significantly stronger than the larvae's. Lord Ghidorah had no chance to counter before Gigamoth fired again, and again. The armored insect circled around his foe, bombarding him angrily with his beam, irritating the dragon to no end. Eventually, Lord Ghidorah curled his heads and wings inward, and a golden, shimmering shield emerged around him, causing the beam attacks to simply be absorbed by the shield. Trying to overwhelm his enemy, Gigamoth ignored the shield, continuing his attack, unaware of what Lord Ghidorah was doing...

As Gigamoth came around to the front of Lord Ghidorah, he spotted, all too late, the growing, golden sphere of energy forming amongst Lord Ghidorah's wings, which was released as soon as Gigamoth appeared in front of the dragon. The Energy Sphere exploded violently, sending the unfortunate Gigamoth flying through the air, only to crash hard into the ground, armor scorched, dented, and beaten. As the moth's eyes grew dim, Lord Ghidorah cackled maniacally, marching past his fallen foe and towards his real target: the Tree of Life.

Lord Ghidorah vs. Gigamoth Imago II:

Lord Ghidorah stared at the Tree of Life incredulously, not hesitating for a moment before attacking the hapless tree. His Gravity Beams slowly drained the life force from the mightiest life form on Earth, its branches and leaves shriveling and falling to the ground below, shattering into black ash. The Tree itself began to shrink as it shriveled up, slowly becoming lifeless. Unbeknownst to Lord Ghidorah, however, the Tree of Life was releasing much of its life force, that which the Lord of Terror never managed to gather himself, into the air, as a brilliant gold powder that floated through the wind, towards the prone form of Gigamoth. The powder dissipated as it touched Gigamoth's head crystal, and his eyes, slowly but surely, began to glow brighter...

Lord Ghidorah stopped his attack, letting out a trilling cry of triumph at the wretched, dead trunk of the Tree of Life, its bark shriveled, fragile, and black. Busy with his gloating, Lord Ghidorah was unaware of Gigamoth rising from the ground, green energy gathering between his six, pointed legs. The energy was suddenly released in a massive burst, exploding violently against Lord Ghidorah's back. The titanic beast fell forward, screeching in shock and something he had rarely felt before: true pain. Gigamoth wasted no time, firing his Elemental Ray into the prone dragon relentlessly, safely in the air. Lord Ghidorah managed to roll over, firing wing lightning at the armored insect, but the bolts simply rebounded off his shining, metallic armor, ravaging the earth below further. Instead, the space dragon fired his Gravity Beams and Gigamoth, usually able to deflect the attack, was instead caught in the beams and stuck, instead of damaged. Lord Ghidorah threw the stunned moth from the air and into the Tree of Life behind the Lord of Terror, causing the trunk to shatter violently into tiny pieces of ashlike bark. Staggering to his feet, Lord Ghidorah glared, enraged, at his foe, who was swift to recover as well. Above them, the clouds had finally begun to clear as well, as if Gigamoth's arrival had been a catalyst for the hopeful sunlight that rained down. Instead, it would soon spell doom for the valiant guardian of Earth...

Gigamoth was the first to attack, firing his "Mega Burst" beam, but Lord Ghidorah was prepared this time, absorbing the energy with his shield and turning it back on Gigamoth, in the form of another Energy Sphere. As it exploded against Gigamoth again, Lord Ghidorah laughed, but was stunned to see, when the smoke cleared, that Gigamoth was completely unharmed. He floated vertically, wings spread, a blueish-green energy shield around his entire body, which had rendered Gigamoth unharmed from the attack. The shield dissipated, and Gigamoth dashed forward, then suddenly up and to the side, slashing a bladed wing across Lord Ghidorah's chest. As the dragon stumbled back, Gigamoth dove down for another attack, but ran headfirst into Lord Ghidorah's Gravity Beams instead, the space dragon slamming his hapless opponent into the lifeless, dusty ground repeatedly, before dropping him at Lord Ghidorah's feet. Planting his foot on Gigamoth's back, Lord Ghidorah threw his heads to the sky, cackling to the skies as he prepared to finish off his foe. Lowering his heads, aglow with yellow energy, Lord Ghidorah had no time to react as an Elemental Beam shot out from Gigamoth's head crystal, exploding in Lord Ghidorah's central face. The monster collapsed backwards, throwing his Gravity Beams in arbitrary directions, and Gigamoth rose, screeching in triumph.

Gigamoth didn't see, however, that amongst the smoke and dust where Lord Ghidorah had fallen, his wings glowed bright golden, as they absorbed the power of the sun, slowly charging up energy to unleash the most powerful attack in the Lord of Terror's arsenal...

Lord Ghidorah vs. Gigamoth III:

Gigamoth spent little time gloating, backing away as Lord Ghidorah got to his feet. The space dragon, enraged, fired his Gravity Beams, but Gigamoth easily dodged the attacks, darting from side to side and up and down, the deadly bolts of energy not even grazing Gigamoth's armor. Sticking his abdomen forward, the Earth Guardian fired a volley of small spikes from the end, spraying Lord Ghidorah's heads in a slightly explosive shower of shards. By the time the stunned dragon had regained his composure, Gigamoth was gone. Looking around, the Lord of Terror didn't notice Gigamoth flying at him from behind, forehead glowing. As he neared, however, Lord Ghidorah heard the attack coming, and spun around, locking his Gravity Beams with Gigamoth's Elemental Ray. The two beams bounced back and forth, though Lord Ghidorah eventually overpowered his foe, sending the armored insect tumbling away from the explosion. Before he hit the ground, Gigamoth managed to catch himself, flying back into the sky. This time, Lord Ghidorah followed, and the battle began to rage in the skies...

The two massive monsters began diving at each other, spiked wings clashing with armored ones, neither beast giving in. Eventually, Gigamoth abruptly changed tactics, spinning around and firing his Mega Burst at the incoming Lord Ghidorah. However, the dragon swiftly swooped to the side, dodging the blast, only to be sent spiraling dangerously through the sky after running into the Earth Guardian's Elemental Ray. Regaining control of his flight, the Planet Killer fired an Energy Sphere at Gigamoth, who countered with another Mega Burst. The two attacks collided with a tremendous explosion, rocking the skies with intense waves of energy that sent both Lord Ghidorah and Gigamoth tumbling to the ground...

The two titans hit the ground with such force, it caused shockwaves to shake the earth for miles around, uprooting dead trees, their roots weakened from Lord Ghidorah's rampage. Lord Ghidorah stood up first, wings shining brightly in the sun, but he made no move to attack, simply standing and glaring as his foe got up, hovering a short distance from the ground. Gigamoth locked eyes with Lord Ghidorah for a short, tense moment, then, with a tremendous screech, charged forward. Lord Ghidorah's mouths curled into despicable smirks, and the light in the dragon's wings suddenly burst forth as rays of lightning, which locked onto the Earth Guardian, dragging the struggling creature closer. Lord Ghidorah's whole body began glowing ever brighter, before finally, a massive wave of energy surged outward from the dragon: the Vortex Blast. The expanding wave of energy began slowly stripping away at Gigamoth's armor and flesh, turning the once-proud creature into a vaporizing husk. Unseen by Ghidorah, however, were the two forms that dropped from Gigamoth's corpse: two larvae, one smooth and brown-skinned, with soft blue eyes, the other with black, jagged armor, purple, angry eyes, and a huge horn on its head. As Gigamoth faded away into nothingness, the light died down, and Lord Ghidorah stumbled backwards, heads drooping, scales dull, wings crackling with what little energy remained in the beast's body. The Vortex Blast had drained Lord Ghidorah of nearly his entire life force, and the space demon let out a hoarse screech, before sluggishly taking off, heading back into the cold void of space to seek easier prey. And so, Gigamoth had saved the Earth from utter destruction at the heads of Lord Ghidorah, but at a gruesome cost...

Epilogue:

A scarred, barren wasteland. That's all that remained of Lord Ghidorah's and Gigamoth's battleground. Anything that had still been standing in a 20-mile radius was completely gone now. There were only two lifeforms left in the area: the offspring of Gigamoth, Mothra and Battra. The two larvae, rising from their hibernation, sized each other up, and Battra let out a screech, challenging his sister to battle for the territory that was the battleground. Mothra simply looked around at the devastation, and, disgusted, slunk away, seeking a place to sleep. Battra, angry and confused, soon sought refuge himself. The two monsters would stay there for 65 million years, until they would be needed again...

Meanwhile, on Lagos Island, one of the few scraps of land untouched by the ravaging of Lord Ghidorah, some of the last dinosaurs remaining on the planet lived in relative peace, unperturbed by the near-destruction of the planet they lived on. The creatures there, however, would soon have their own ordeals to face, when the small, fuzzy creatures they used to look down on gained dominion of the planet, and began causing even more trouble than even the Lord of Terror...

And what of Lord Ghidorah? Oh no, he wasn't finished, not by a long shot. He would return to this world with a vengeance, showing contempt for the little blue sphere in its lonely pocket of the cosmos, and he would not just kill it. He would wipe it from the face of the universe like a speck of dust on the tiniest scale, and no one could stand in his way this time. At least, that's what the Planet Killer thought as, for the second time, he made a beeline for Earth, all six eyes burning an angry red as he prepared to finally destroy the planet, once and for all...

Very good so far, DM. Will you any chance have the dinosaurs that would eventually become Anguirius, Godzilla, Sangheilos and Gorosaurus mentioned or seen?

I like the descriptions you put into Gigamoth's adult form. I'm eager to see what chapter 3 will have in store.

Good way to end the story. I paticularly like how you didn't make the battle seem too one sided for either Gigamoth or Lord Ghidorah.
