lol. i brought a race up from the CREATURE stage. when they finally reached space [through my assistance getting them to tribal, and then from tribal up to Civ], they started agressively expanding through all my allies.......then demanded i pay a tithe to Spode....when i refused, they attacked....safe to say i devolved them back to the creature stage as punishment for their transgressions D:<

at present, i own every last star system in a 25 parasec radius all around me. outside of that, i'm using trade routes to expand [i've been lucky enough to have about 4 different kinds of spice in my home system alone, not counting the very abundant supplies in the stars surrounding it. internal trading between colonies is bringing in cash by the planet-load (because truckload isn't large enough to describe it! D:<). meaning plenty of cash to help me buy my way through the allies' territory.]. typically i buy the non-terraformed planets. easiest to buy. i pick the ones that are useful as terraformed ones. useless ones are left as is so nobody can take them. when an ally has only his home planet left, i either buy them out [if i have the cash for it] or take it over forcefully [i preffer the former. less risk of destroying the cities before they surrender]
