=======================
WAS IT EVER REAL?
=======================

Fog. An epidemic of fog, all across the globe. An eerie sense of loneliness and danger, felt even by the largest and most fearsome mutant; the most terrible and malicious alien. Something was about to take hold...something oddly familiar, as if it had happened in another time. Perhaps, another world.

The darkness awoke the sleeping giant, Infernus, from his slumber. The fiery titan couldn't help but note the fall of darkness. Stomping out of his home, Infernus looked about. This wasn't right!....

The kryll fled into the depths of their home, fearful of the darkness...

Bagorah rested in a small forest, but he saw the fog roll in. Something was off. Fearful, Bagorah hid his head udner his wings, hoping he wasn't spotted...

All over Titan's body, Dantan workers stopped and looked towards the mysterious fog. Murmers of fear spread through the alien crew. The voice of the over seer began blasting out over the intercom, ordering everyone back to work. Scaffolding were slung around all over the giant, patching up holes torn by the Cyborg's claws, and clearing out the rubble from the destroyed bunkers. Small land vehicles drove around the deserted streets, searching for anything that could be salvaged and used for repairs.

Rodan awoke from his rest on a cliff atop a small island in the pacific and looked out at the fog surrounding him. He was quickly filled with a sense of dread, for it had still been day by when he had fallen asleep. The Pterasaur couldn't imagine what the cause of this fog was, but he doubted that it was connected to an alien race that had tried to take over earth in the past...

Sauron looked about as he strode ashore to a part of Africa that was prime habitat for monsters. While he had been swimming to his desitnation, the fog had quickly and without warning rolled in, unlike any fog he had ever been in before. Normally, fog was of no concern to him, but now he was feeling worried, taking his mind off everything but listening to his surroundings and regurly sniffing the air, having the feeling that there was something lurking in the fog...

From out of the fog that surrounded Infernus, gargantuan metal monstrosities emerged. Saurian machines with long bodies and thick jaws, with massive razor-sharp spines jutting out from their back, where rogue, untamed electricity jumped from spire to spire. Although only two of them were present, they were easily the size of most of the rampaging mutants across the world.

Telltale sounds of heavy footfalls reached the alien crew as they worked, echoing from the city that surrounded them. These were not the sounds of an encroaching mutant; they were not as heavy. But what they lacked in weight, they made up for in numbers. The sounds appeared to be coming from all directions. Metal clanking against metal was soon added to the mix, drawing ever closer...

Eerie sounds and strange lights appeared behind Sauron, from the sea he had just crawled out of. The source of the oddity was hidden within the fog, however...

Infernus locked his eyes on the intruders. These... metal monsters... these THINGS thought they coudl best him?! He eats metal for breakfast! With a roar, Infernus shook his body, magma hardening his shell, before a fiery beam of energy lanced out of his maw, flooring one of the mechs with its power...

Sauron saw the odd lights out of the corner of his eye, but what mad him turn were the strange sounds that he heard coming from the mist. Turning to facet he lights, he gave a threatening growl, despite suspecting that whatever the lights and sound belonged to would simply ignore it. Whatever was the cause of the lights and sounds, it wasn't a human mech or cyborg...

As one of the machines let out a warble as it slid across the ground, the other charged Infernus with a strange, artificial roar, like metal clashing with metal. The machine's mouth closed shut around Infernus' shoulder, the jagged metal that lined its jaws digging deeply into the hardened shell.

A shape shot through the fog with incredible speed, landing near Sauron's feet. Before the saurian creature could realize what it was, the metal limb wrapped itself around his foot and began to retract with audible mechanical sounds, flooring him and drawing him swiftly toward the shrouded ocean.

Infernus snarled in anger and pain, before he snapped his jaws onto the mechanical monster's own shoulder, before he violently ripped out a hunk of metal using his massive jaws, eyes glowing a bright orange...

The machine warbled angrily before a surge of electricity poured into Infernus, pumped into the saurian creature by the metal monster still adhered to its shoulder. The other machine, by now, got back to its feet and set its sights on the battling duo.

Sauron let out a suprised bellow as the mechanical appendage caused him to fall. Seeing himself being pulled back toward the ocean, he managed to get his head into a position that let him see the limb before he opened his jaws and fired a cylindrical sonic beam from his maw. The beam hit not far from where the grasping part was, the Saurian creature keeping the beam sustained to try and force whatever had ahold of him to release it's grip...

Inferno's eyes grew wide, before the titan let out a bellow of pain, his body beginning to thrash about wildly as electricity was pumped into his form. Fighting through the horrifyign pain as best he could, Infernus blasted the approaching mech once more with his fiery breath, as he used his convulsing to his advantage, attempting to get the machine to relinquish its grip so he could coutner attack...

From where he slept, Blight woke up to see the odd fog around him. The dragon hissed as he got up, uncertain as to what it meant...

On the western shores of North America, on the same beech he had emerged from, Bagan surfaced, his hand having recovered from the fight against Damaar. What... what was thing fog around him? it didn't seem natural.

In a subterranean cave off the coast of Hawaii, Squama was resting his injured body, unaware of the events going on in the surface...

A serpentine head emerged from the fog around Blight, completely mechanical, though oddly familiar. Two others soon joined it, the machines undulating like real appendages, staying at the edge of the fog as if to taught the creature.

Its chest armor scorched, the machine once again fell to the ground with a warble, though it did not move far from where it fell this time. The other machine was content with hanging onto its victim, its chest armor becoming dented and broken by Infernus' movements, though the metal monstrosity did not seem to care.

Sauron was practically in the water by the time the limb finally broke apart under the attack. In response, a surge of water exploded up into the air a small distance from shore, as a mechanical growl reverberated through the murky depths.

Blight's eyes narrowed as he saw the heads. They looked too familiar... Then, the realization hit him. Whatever it was, it was mocking him with the image of the beast that destroyed his world... With a furious roar, the dragon beat his wings, unleashing winged lightning upon the mechanical figure...

Infernus groaned and roared, the shocks beginning to affect him. Focusing, Infernus ignored the downed mech for now, before he blasted the mechanical monster hanging on to him with his fiery breath, the beam tearing right through the thick metal plating of his foe and threatening to destroy the mech's head. If he didn't get the mech to release its grip soon and stop the flow of electricity, he'd be down for the count...

Sauron, now in water that was deep enough to come up to where his legs connected to his hips, stood up once the appendage broke from his sonic beam. Before he had gotten into a position to stand up, though, he heard the growl of whatever it was that had grabbed him. He began to back up into shallower water, bracing himself for another attack from the uknown entity...

As the fog rolled in the marine life scattered, ending a titan's hunt. A large reptilian head appeared from the ocean and headed toward the shore, wanting to get on shore to get his bearings. Meg emerged onto the beach, the large mutated Komodo dragon scenting the air. The quick intake of breath brought forth the scent of another mutant and ..... something else, growling the large reptilian moved towards the scents.

The maws of the serpentine appendages opened in a wailing metallic shriek, as the fog surrounding its body was thrown away by a gust of wind thrown up by its massive wings. The machine had a saurian stance and three arching heads, lacking any and all forelimbs. Electricity snaked up and down the three heads, arching between small prongs sticking out of the metal. The lightning that was aimed at the metal monster was directed along these prongs, adding to the machine's supply of energy, before it unleashed its own attack: maser beams from all three of its mouths...

As the metal began to melt away from the back of the saurian machine's head, its partner once again got to its feet, opening its maw and blasting the side of Infernus' head with a short but powerful burst of energy, throwing the beam up and away from its companion. Although spared any continued damage, a gaping burnt hole was visible on the back of the metal monstrosity's head, which sparked and crackled audibly. Even then, the machine did not let go, though the electricity it was pumping into its foe lessened immensely.

A massive dome rose up slowly from the water, wicked energy crackling and sparking within. Resembling a massive octopus, the eyeless horror towered even over the massive Sauron. Multiple flat tendrils, made of cylindrical tubes welded together, rose up along with it, waving dangerously in the waters. The metal behemoth was so large that it caused a massive wave to strike the shore with its arrival.

Sauron watched as the head of the mechanical entity rose out of the water. Even though there was probably more under the water, what had just shown itself was noticably larger than he was. Standing in water now up to his ankles, the Saurian beast snarled at what was before him before he fired a short sonic beam at the head of the machine, ready to activate his sonic shield to prevent the tentacles from ensnaring him...
