Desrium eyed the fish, eager to bite into its evenly roasted flesh, but he held himself back. His inner turmoil was hidden to the others by his armor. "I am grateful, Septimus..." He said, feeling a strange sensation when the dragon told him that was the last of his food. It was a sinking feeling that he wanted to get rid of just as bad as he wanted to sate his hunger "Is there anything I could do to return the favor?" He asked...

The towering figures emerged into view some 7 meters from the Badai. Crossbows cracked, bolts whistling towards the lumber camp's guards. While the crossbow's reloaded, the others begun a charge forward, spreading out but maintaining the formation.

Two of the vul'nul here hit square in the chest, their copper armor working well to stop the bolts from seriously injuring them, while another was hit in the shoulder, though it didn't seem to notice. "Dats no cat! WE GOTS INVADERS IN DA CAMP!" the lead Vul'nul roared, before all three continued their charge, closing in on the small creatures quickly. The taskmaster heard the roar and rushed too a small hut that he used as his "office", grabbing a crossbow that lay on a table inside...

"No thanks is necessary, Desrium. You are a friend, after all. And besides, I was going to restock today before we left anyway. Now it just means that everything I carry will be today's catch. If you really want to pay me back, eat. I hate to see a friend uncomfortable" rumbled Septimus with a smile, Andruil watching interestedly. the newcomer was showing signs of courtesy. but was it real? or was it just an attempt to gain their trust?

Desrium nodded to the dragon's words as he felt another hunger pang. The smell of the fish enticed him, playing with his senses. It left him unable to speak- he'd only open his mouth just before taking a bite out of it. His armored hands gripped the fish from under its head and on its tail, just before the fin and lifted it up to his mouth. His eyes flashed for a second, barely detectable in open daylight and without warning, Desrium's mouth shot open, jaws parting a seemingly unnatrual distance, a low growl escaping him as he clamped down on the side of the fish and tore into its width with a soft cracking of its roasted hide and then ripping a chunk of flesh from it with a vicious thrash.

Andruil watched the being eat, somewhat surprised. Septimus turned towards his friend Tetto'eko, leaving Desrium to eat while he dealt with more pressing matters. as the Dragon neared the Skink, he sighed. "Tetto?" he growled lowly...

In only a few moments, Desrium had stripped the fish clean of meat on one side, leaving nothing but the bare bone. There were only a few chunks left around where he had gripped his meal, but even those were taken off when Desrium adjusted his hold. The armored figure flipped the fish about before tearing into the other side, wolfing it down. Out from the corner of his eye his saw Andruil looking at him and he pulled his head away from his morsel, a chunk of it still in his mouth. He turned to look at Andruil and said "Hello"-though it sounded more like "Hurow" with the food muffling his voice- before swallowing.

Kiara had turned towards the beggar after a long pause to pull a couple golden coins out of a small pack near her right thigh, before handing them over to the person.

Hraesvelgr watched and waited as Khorne scaled up the cliff-face, cautiously watching his back.

Saurgu replied with a laugh, saying to Sarah, "it's one of the many ways our kind communicates, but to others, they're meant to cower from the noise, due to the fact that it mimics the roar of a massive, unseen predator that may or may not be a legend."

Shezz nodded in agreement as the group continued on, stopping for a moment to look up at the sky, and saw some dark clouds in the air...

"Thank you, miss," The beggar says.

Khorne walked slowly and carefully, reaching for and grabbing the numerous rocks along the side, before finally reaching the top. "Be careful, Hraesvelgr- the rocks are quite tiny and are easy to lose grasp of."

Sarah says, "Unseen predator? What's it called?"

The lockjaw brothers keep following Shezz, kubba looknig fearfully at the clouds but pressing onwards.

Hraesvelgr nodded and began climbing up the cliff-face cautiously, making sure she had a firm grip on the rocks she climbed up.

Kiara soon walked away from the beggar and continued on through the city, wandering around as she waited for the time to pass before she could go back to the past.

"Well, the legend travellers came up with always changes along with the creature's name, so it has no general identity other than being commonly considered 'the winged beast of death'," Saurgu responded telepathically to Sarah.

Shezz continued onwards, still watching the map as the group continued along the trail.

The ships kept on going, staying near the coast as they headed out west, not wanting to lose sight of their homeland...

Sarah nodes slowly. "T-the winged beast of death? Have you ever seen it yourself?" she inquires.

Bubba says to Shezz, "Yo, Shezz! How are we ta our destination?"

Khorne waits patiently for his mate to rech the top, dangling his tail down for her to grab it if she has trouble with the last step....

Ikargu spoke up to Sarah this time, saying, "it's only a legend, daughter. It's not real, in a way, of course. The noise comes from us, but the legend states that the roar from this massive creature which doesn't exist means death will come to all of those that hear it."

Hraesvelgr slowly and steadily moved on up the cliff, soon reaching the top and pulled herself up, looking at her mate as she managed to get her whole body on the flat land before asking, "ok, Khorne, where to now?"

Shezz looked at Bubba before responding "map says 5 miles to village, friend..."

"Oh...." she says, slightly embarrassed. "I guess that's a good thing, though. Imagine if it WAS real."

Khorne says, "We shall continue higher into the mountains. Thankfully, this area seems to be hilly, but lacks very steep cliffs." The basilisk motions to an area of large stone spires covered in snow, with a gently sloping road heading higher up in the mountain...

Bubba nods and the brothers continue....

Trajan, upon hearing his name be shouted, moved quickly toward the stairs. He hadn't even gotten down the first step when the servant smashed into him, nearly sending him onto his back. "You better have a good explaination for why you're screaming your head off for me and running like a madman." Trajan grumbled as he eyed the servant. "P-please escuse me, but... I think you need to look at this! It concerns... Jeetis." The servant stammered as he shoved the open journal into the Emperor's hands. Trajan began to read it, and as he continued to read it, his eyes slowly widened in horror and disbelief. "There's no way... it cannot be. I refuse to believe this!" Trajan roared, throwing the journal at the servant, who managed to catch it with only the fastest of relexes. The Emperor's face was now a white color, and hsi eyes were incredibly wide. The servant knew that he was in his white rage, where not even reason could get through to the Emperor. "But... the murderer himself wrote that this was who tol dhim to kill Trajan... there's no other way to go around it"

Guame, who was listening in to the whole conversation from behind the stairs, sighed silently, before moving into the shadows...

Ikargu thought about it for a moment, before Saurgu said, "yeah, it would be quite frightening to know they were real."

Hraesvelgr nodded and followed behind Khorne.

Shezz kept ahead of the others, still reading the map as they continued on...

"I've been thinking about our current arrangement" rumbled Septimus calmly. "I wish to travel more freely. I miss the freedom I had, in flight, in location...in many things. and I'm afraid I simply cannot achieve that with you. You're too fragile to put through the kind of things I do on a regular basis. So, if I may, I wish to end our travels" he growled with a sigh, hoping the elder skink would understand...

Tetto'eko stared at Septimus for a long while, thinking. "Yes, I suppose I understand your predicament... I am not the bold warrior-wizard I once was. I have been alive for many centuries, and there is so little I have seen in this world." He looked over at the rest of the group. "These good people... I don't know what they plan to do, but it is clear they have planned for a long journey, and no doubt for a good cause. If you do not wish me to travel with you any longer, I can simply go with them, if they let me. I may be fragile, at least compared to you, Septimus, but I am not completely defenseless, and they may just need my support in the future..."

Elsewhere, deep in the forests, Zazikel lay, purple tendrils of life-draining energy sucking the life from the surrounding foliage in order to heal the Demon-Dragon. He was fuming; his Ra'zac minions had returned last night, nearly crawling on all fours when they arrived. It didn't take long to realize they had been poisoned, and his assassination plot bungled. Unfortunately, as a Demon, he did not possess any healing magic that would be of any use to anyone but himself. Instead, he had a far better idea: placing the weakened Ra'zac on their Lethrblaka steeds, Zazikel had sent them elsewhere, across Aster, to find an apothecary, a place where all those who were sick or weak would be cared for. It was a bit of a gamble, but no one in Aster had seen a living Ra'zac in many years, and it was unlikely they would recognize the creatures, and would nurse them back to health out of the goodness of their hearts. The irony brought a cruel smile to Zazikel's maw as he lay there, his wounds slowly knitting themselves together...

Trajan glared at the servant, trying to decide wherever to hang the man right here and now, or to believe him. he sat down, and began to think, hard. HE simply could not believe what he had read. There was no way it could be the truth... simply no way. And yet, there were all those murders that had been occuringfor the past 2 years... Trajan's eyes widened even further as he realized something. Every month, for th epast 2 years, various nobles of Germania had been getting murdered. He began to piece together the names of those that had been murdered, before coming to a chilling realization. They had all been there during th first council he had led when he first took office. The only people from that council that were still alive were he, Dione, and Father Bonne, the head bishop of the Tristan Church...

"So how are you, Saurgu?" Sarah inquires, trying to get off the monster subject....

Khorne continues higher into the mountains, taking the hill to the right...

The brothers keep moving forward, weapons readied in case of attack. They were not alone, for something was following them in the trees.... and it was not friendly.
