"Mind and soul" Desrium repeated, nodding. To emphasize his understanding, he opened his mouth to its full, unnaturally wide gape, darkness within hiding discernible features. He then gulped down air, emulating Jiier's deep breath and in turn creating a harsh rasping sound, almost as if the Blood Omen made a loud, cold hiss...

"You must become familiar with this energy. In my case, it is where I draw my power," Jiier continued, his eyes opening, taking on a fierce gaze. In a split second the simian had summoned a vast amount of energy, the air around him supercharged by it, though he remained physically unchanged. As quickly as it appeared, the energy was dismissed, and Jiier closed his eyes once more. "If you understand this energy...if you understand yourself...then perhaps you can control these outbursts."

Evidence of the sudden surge of energy resided in Desrium's gaze, which was laced with flickers of purple streaks that faded soon after they appeared. He closed his maw and waited for the energy that lingered to dissipate as well, for that was when he knew he had absorbed it; it was then he knew he wouldn't be transformed by it. "How do I attain this understanding?" the armored being asked after the silence.

"And to do that I must look within. How do I see with my mind and...soul?" Desrium asked, the red light of his eyes brightening in response to his inquiry.

"That is for you to figure out. I can tell you things that may help, but one must discover the depths of their being on their own," Jiier explained, breathing in and out deeply.

"I see" said the armored being, sitting up straight and inhaling. "What are your suggestions for the process?" he continued as he attempted to turn his burning gaze inwards...

"From the name, I'd take it they're not peaceful creatures... Best be on our guard in that case." Mara said, as she kept alongside the shaman...

Akuro kept sniffing the air, and sure enogh, he was now beginnig to pick up the scent of something else mixed in with the scent of Smaug. it was of a diffrent kind of dragon than Smaug, and Auro was beginning to think that it may be that of a Krayt...

Septimus was shaken from his thoughts as a low rumbling shook the water around him, like whalesong but more violent, the Dragon glancing around above and below him just in time to see something large and streaked with light closing on him from below, the Dragon swimming out of the way just in time to see it shoot past, twisting round overhead as the creature's apparent jaws opened threateningly, Septimus' now adapted gaze revealing it to be a beast akin to a sea serpent, armoured with shimmering spikes and streaks along the length of it's body. It had a large, long, muscular tail, somewhere between a shark's and an eel's, the end of it spreading outwards in a semi-circular fan. it's mouth was lined with long, seemingly translucent fangs, and it's eyes were, similarly to his own, dark with glowing irises, no pupil being visible on the whitish orbs. it unleashed a roar that shook the water, Septimus responding with his own as the striped patterns covering his form flared brightly, the beast seeming to stop it's attack, for a moment seeming to reconsider it's situation. Septimus could see why. While it was indeed larger than he was, it's form seemed less sturdy, with delicate looking fins and a long, relatively slender neck. Having been a fully aquatic creature, it had adapted to be streamlined, not armoured, obviously not requiring the powerful armoured form that it would otherwise possess were it on land. Also, judging by it's confidence in attacking, it was likely a dominant predator here. It had nothing to fear, and so, it had no need to become more powerful. casting aside it's apparent concerns, the beast launched itself forward with shocking speed, Septimus having to twist and launch himself to the side to evade the attack, twisting round with a snarl as a blast of energy was unleashed from the Exile's arm, which now crackled, the magically bound electricity focused into a beam instead of dispersing into the surrounding water, the animal roaring out in pain as it was electrocuted by the intruder, twisting around with a rumbling growl, just as an array of quills rose along it's back and crest...

Wordlessly, Desrium nodded his head and left his gaze resting on the ground immediately in front of him. He let himself become still, completely unmoving. Even his breathing stopped as the armored entity began the journey into his inner being, eventually reaching a state of peace. A state where he cared not for the fears of the common creature, a state where Jiier and Septimus were comparable to vague memories, a state where his thoughts were suspended in a void and promptly melded into nothingness. They still existed, but the processes of his mind had simply ceased.

In the stillness, Desrium appeared. He was encompassed in absolute darkness and only his eyes offered illumination. He focused his mind and his gaze brightened greatly, flaring up and shooting out into the shadows and yet it revealed only emptiness. "Peace" he said. His voice reverberated through the nothingness. The word spoken with Blood Omen's impassiveness seemed to be all that resided in this mental realm. It made Desrium uncertain and started to drag fear from the depths of his being. Materializing from the darkness were images of robed figures, their forms distorted and otherworldly. Their warped likenesses wrapped around him, staring with invisible eyes. The brilliance of his scarlet shine did not even effect the blackness that hid their features. Already, Desrium felt himself recoiling from these scrutinizing shapes; his understanding was slowly clouding as he reverted to his bestial nature. He needed to defend himself or they would smother him and tear him apart. This realm was not for him, clearly. Remaining within its confines would be his undoing, he was sure of it. His basic instinct was to run, and that was exactly what he would do if he let his primal drives claim him.

"They cannot harm me" he muttered with sudden realization. This plane of existence was not a realm where he was powerless. His presence did not mean death. It was not the world he knew. He still felt Jiier's being, the mana radiating from the shape shifting dragon being a lifeline, a tether to physical existence. "You are still with me" said Desrium, looking through the dissolving barricade that was the robed phantoms at his appointed teacher. The armored ape stared back at him with an unreadable expression, in a manner that revealed he was waiting on his student to complete the task defined for him. "I remember" the armored being said to the ape, who wordlessly nodded in response.

All at once, the darkness was gone, replaced with a backdrop of all shades of red that transitioned to all shades of blue at a diagonal slash through the realm's sky. Around the barrier of clashing color were sparks and bolts of all colors, akin to those present when the Blood Omen was charged with mana. Integrated with the discolored sky was a sprawling representation of the meditating ape and the mouth of the cave behind him. Jiier's gigantic image stretched for miles above. Desrium looked down from the alien heavens above, finding that he stood on a stone platform similar in appearance to the rock of the canyon. It was flat and almost circular at the top, but craggy at the bottom. Connected to its end was a path of shimmering white light that stretched out to another platform, where the path shot vertically to one that was upside down. From there, the walkway of light continued to numerous others in what seemed to be a three dimensional labyrinth. His only hope of navigating was his inner essence...

At this point in his self exploration, Desrium's burning stare rested on Jiier, his eyes shining and shimmering. What he saw was present in his mind but twisted and altered. If it were any other creature, sudden exposure to such magnitude of mental stimulus would have torn their minds asunder and left them catatonic wrecks. Desrium however, was able to comprehend the overwhelming power of his very own thoughts...

Jiier's eyes opened, knowing, although Desrium's appearance gave little indication, that the armored being was deep in the process of self discovery. With a soft sigh, the simian rose to his feet, walking past Desrium to the edge of the outcropping. Without breaking stride, Jiier stepped off the rocky protrusion, plummeting toward the distant ground. In a few silent moments, the sound of rushing air reached the outcropping, the draconic form of Jiier soaring up and over it, toward one of the sides of the canyon.

"That would be a wise assumption," Shurzak replied. The group of orcs soon began to circle the edge of Gorgoroth's central keep, nearing the southern gate...

The Stalkers suddenly came to a stop.

"Spread out; Krayt up ahead!" the masked man hissed. Sure enough two large, bipedal draconic creatures could be seen at the edge of the wastelands, eerily close to a large cave carved in the side of a large stone structure....

The Blood Omen walked up the vertical pathway without any reservation or hesitation. He did not question why gravity suddenly shifted, allowing him to trek up towards the sky. No, instead the subject of his concern was Jiier as Desrium pondered why the colossal image of the ape suddenly stood up, growing even larger as he walked towards Desrium's sitting form and then disappeared upon his passing. With the blended sky bare save for the image of the cave, the armored being pressed on, knowing that whether or not Jiier was with him would not make a difference in his self exploration. His teacher helped him comprehend the representation of his mind, but that was all the assistance he would get.

Desrium stepped off from the light path onto the platform. From there, looking up meant looking at what he once thought was upright. With the switch in orientation, the sky took a new form, a swirling vortex of reds, blues and purples. The image of the cave wavered and flickered in the colorful maelstrom and the energetic bolts shot out from its turbulent center. Desrium walked to the edge of the platform and looked down at once used to be above him, the whirlpool seeming to be a warning as to what would happen if he fell. Like before, the Blood Omen went on without any inhibitions, as he did when he scaled the sheer cliff even with the incredible risk. Bolts flew past Desrium on either side as he crossed the next bridge without so much as a flinch from him. He was tracking down the location of concentrated mana out of instinctual habit...tracking down his very soul.

AKuro saw the draconic entitie up ahead and, following the mased man's orders, crouched low and began to circle around. The cave that the two Krayts were near... there was somethnig about it that sent shivers down Akuro's spine, not unlike when he encountered Djinn...

Mara looked ahead. "So I guess we're nearing our destination?" She asked, rubbing some dust out of her eyes...

In a few minutes time, Jiier reappeared, launching himself over the side of the canyon, twisting in the air as he neared the cave. Stabbing his extended claws into the surface of the cliff face, the dragon slid a few meters, scoring his claws down the cliff face until he was alongside the cave, one set of claws somewhat bloodied. Still clinging to the rocks with his claws, the maned dragon climbed along the wall of the cliff and into the cave, noisily tearing his claws in and out of the rocks to move.

The stalkers took position near a small rock on the field, taking minor cover. The Olog-Hai began to advance on the two draconian beasts, shields raised to protect them from blistering fire. As soon as the Olog-Hai were close enough, and Akuro had circled a good distance, the Masked Man made a gesture with his hands.

The trap was to be sprung.

The Olog-Hai charged the Krayts, like a wall of iron. The Beasts took the challenge and blasted at the beasts with blistering flames, but they were blocked by the thick iron shields. Taking advantage of this, the stalkers hopped out from behind their cover, as the four motch their giant iron bows with their equally massive arrows, before they are fired, the thick arrows peircing one krayt's wrists and ankles, forcing the beast to its knees. The Masked man hopped out from behind his cover, his good hand filled with shadow, before he sent an orb into the creature's face, stunning it.

"Quickly, lord Akuro! We have this one under control! Get the other" The Masked Man hissed. Unfortunately, in focusing on one Krayt, the other had fled into the mouth of the cavern...

The southern gate opened, as the orc troop advanced towards the edge of the wastelands...

Tendrils of scarlet light reached for the sun as Desrium sat motionless, blankly staring into the cave. Part of Jiier was visible when Desrium reached the next platform, though barely with the scrambled colors constantly creating dazzling patterns below. Blinding flashes of light did not help matters as the bolts flew up from the chaos, reverse lightning strikes where the electricity dashed upwards.

Desrium stepped onto the next bridge which then shortened dramatically, only spanning a third of the way across the gap between the next floating island. It then turned in on itself, forming a downwards corkscrew. Desrium regarded the change curiously, unsure why it happened when he sensed the mana on the other platform. He had to go across, not downwards. Staying true to his instinct, Desrium started forwards. He stepped onto the bridge but instead of following its curved descent, he kept heading straight. Sure enough, the spiral began to disintegrate behind him into a sparkling mist as a new bridge started to form, rising up from the turbulent abyss in segments...

Akuro, eyes locked on the fleeing Krayt, charged after it, electricity cracling around his fur as he too went into the cave, almost as if unaware of the overwhelming scent of dragon that emminated from the cave...

Almost.

"So there are the wastelands..." Mara whistled as she passed through the gate...

The Krayt continued to flee deeper into the caverns, hoping to get an advantage over Akuro...

Little did he know of the danger he was running right into however...

The Olog-Hai soon put their nets over the incapacitated Krayt, as two of them begin the long march back with it. The Stalkers ran in after Akuro, seeing as one was done...

"Yes," Shurzak said. "Beautiful view, isn't it?" The orcs continued their methodical advance, knowing the tribe was nearby...
