Savarna looked down at the three hatchlings, the little striped blue one's antics and Cirrus's reaction making her smile. She leaned down to nudge Cirrus towards the black and red newborn, who was already trying to get to her feet. "Go and meet your sister," she murmured. Cirrus looked back at her, clearly uncertain, but took a few hopping steps forward.

Xanthe was on his way back, having left the young adults near the game trail. Their success or failure was entirely up to them. Now, the alpha male only had to worry about getting home to his family and pack.

Sand Claw felt reileved when the foot falls of the allosaur disapeared. He's had more than enough trouble dealing with raptors, last thing he would want was an angry Allosaurus...

Crusher eyed the creature as it left, trying to fight the urge to smack his head off the nearest tree. if it HADN'T followed him, the Allosaur may have given up near the beginning out of confusion instead of chasing them this far. or at least would've afforded one of them an easier escape. while it chased the other. instead, they were hunted down and nearly killed. sighing, the Rex grabbed hold of the leg and proceeded to half-drag half-carry it away from the area...

The Allosaurus sighed as she looked down. she had worked so hard to get a whole kill to bring back to the pack. she had been out since before dawn, stalking, tracking and planning her attack on the herbivore for hours. she had been careful, striking the herbivore and moving away to let it bleed out. bring it back with minimal injury and damage, to prove her worth to the pack. and just as she thought nothing could possibly go wrong, those wretched parasites tracked the injured Tenontosaur down, finished it and ate from it. now she was left looking like a scavenger. a carrion eater that didn't see her pack as deserving of a fresh kill. the fact infuriated her. but she had little choice. she had spent too much time and energy hunting this animal to just leave it and hunt afresh. she was forced to take it and deal with it. with a frustrated snarl, she grabbed ahold of the herbivore by the base of the tail, proceeding to slowly drag it back through the jungle, back to the pack, trying not to even begin imagining what the Allosaurs of the pack would say behind her back. well...at least Khabeer wouldn't persecute her. the elderly male had been with the pack only slightly longer than herself, and he understood the pain of being an outcast...

Xanthe strode back into the clearing to see Savarna, Cirrus, and another young hatchling he recognized as the son of the female who had joined them recently, all gathered around the alpha pair's nest. Fearing the worst the black and silver-striped Allosaur lengthened his stride, halting beside his mate. "Savarna, what's - " he broke off at the sight of the black and red hatchling standing shakily on legs that seemed ready to give out at any moment. Cirrus was looking at her as if he wasn't quite sure what had just happened. Xanthe felt his expression soften as the little female looked up at him with eyes the exact color of Savarna's. "Oh, Savarna," he murmured, turning to nuzzle the white-striped red female. "She's perfect."

Razorjaw noticed how the rex had been most annoyed what he had done as he walked away,he found that quite amusing, but enough of that, time to find somewhere to sleep he found this ordeal to be most exhausting........

Unbeknownst to the green and black raptor, he was being watched from the brush by keen mauve eyes, almost pitch black ovals cutting across them. Attracted by the scent of blood, another Velociraptor made its way from the hills, compelled by hunger. It eyed the green scaled raptor that rested beyond, his shape barley detectable among the swaying cluster of plants he laid behind. Easy prey. The newcomer smelled no territory markers, the telltale sign of a raptor pack. This one was alone...and it seemed to be asleep...

The raptor advanced out from its cover, revealing its dark brown body, several black and white eye spots adorned on its hide. It donned a smirk before making its move, charging forward before lunging towards the sleeping raptor- or so it thought.

Aircrest's eyes shot open at the sound of the attacking raptor's footsteps, catching sight of it as it soared at him, its claws splayed. Reflexively, he kicked at the ground with one leg, sending him tumbling over to the side and through the shrubs surrounding him. The brown predator landed mere inches away with a loud rustling, it spinning about on a heel and kicking into Aircrest's side as he tried to get up, sending him stumbling away. Just as Aircrest regained his balance, the raptor crashed into him, knocking him to the ground and slamming its foot down on his flank. The green raptor's eyes widened as he stared up at the other raptor. For the second time in one day, he stared at what he was certain to be his death. The first encounter was just a joke, a cruel, taunting joke that only delayed the true meeting. The raptor's jaws flew down towards Aircrest's neck, and in that once instant Aircrest knew what he did in the next split second would determine if he lived to see the next morning.

Like lightning, Aircrest's hands shot out, claws finding their way into the side of the raptor's head, digging in around its ears. It let out a horrible screech of pain as its momentum drove the claws towards its neck, not cutting through flesh, but rather being forced down and worsening the damage as the wound was widened. The brown raptor pulled back, Aircrest's claws slashing through its face before finally slipping out, stained red. It howled with pain and surprise, its neck exposed. How Aircrest wished he could run now, but he was still pinned by the raptor. Even now it was keeping constant pressure on his side, making it difficult to breathe. Relying on his instincts, Aircrest swung a clawed hand about, slashing its throat. That did the trick, as the predator staggered backwards, grasping at the wound. Aircrest wasn't sure how deep it was, or if it would drive off his attacker. Fueled by adrenaline and driven by instinct, Aircrest rolled onto his feet and dashed at the brown raptor, bashing himself into it and sending it to the ground. The creature looked up at him with shock and fury, unable to put together a statement. It was simply gasping furiously as it tried fruitlessly to say something. Its efforts quickly ended when Aircrest stomped down on its head, driving it to the dirt. That blow caught it by surprise. He stomped down again, that blow jarring its neck. Another, his claws slicing across its snout. Once more, and a crack signified the end of Aircrest's attacker. In the moments after, he simply stared down at the vanquished raptor, trembling once more as blood dripped from his clawed hands. The images of the dead Deinonychus in the lab appeared in his mind, its gaze blank and its throat slit. He had killed one of his own kind. The realization hit him harder than any blow he felt during the short fight. He looked up at the raptor as prey, then suddenly became the hunter in a fraction of a second. Was this another instance of survival? The strong live until they were weak...and this raptor just happened to be weak at the most pivotal moment? Its blood was spreading out from the gash on its neck, pooling around Aircrest's feet now. The wound must have been deep after all. The green raptor's eyes clouded over as he peered down at the corpse. His fears of his fellow raptors were not misplaced after all.

"Not bad, Aircrest. Not bad at all" hissed a familiar voice in the trees, the tone only half serious, the faintest hint of sarcasm lacing the words, a pair of amber eyes gazing down from the shadows. "Had that been a Deinonychus you would've been eviscerated before you had time to realise there was an oddly positioned shadow blocking your sun" added the Elder, springing from the trees in a blur, landing a few feet away, looking down at the dying raptor, it's corpse still spasming, blood being pumped out through the gash as the creature's heart steadily weakened. "The idiot got too confident. tried to use his muscles instead of his head. Congratulations, Frog-brain. You just crossed the Raptor Line over to Super Predator....a dead one" growled the Raptor, a rasping, malicious chuckle coming from the Raptor as he kicked the nearly dead corpse in the throat, slashing it the rest of the way, speeding up the bleeding and letting it die more swiftly as he turned away from it, walking past Aircrest...

The two allosaurs soon awaken from the meal and continue feeding, Pale kaiser moving out to aptrol the area. He didn't want any.... unwelcome visitors to go unnoticed....

Gothmog continued though the jungle alone, the chirping of insects being audible throughout the area. The skittering of lizards and other small animals kept Gothmog high strung, and he was constantly twitching his head back and forth to find a potential threat. He was very sad, regretting leaving the presence of the large Carcharodontosaur. At least he's got size.... I've got nothing right now, Gothmog thinks to himself. Moments like this gave him too much time to think about the past: past mistakes, horrifying occasions, but especially his mother. He always seemed to revert back to the young child when he thought about his mom. Depression overcoming him, Gothmog lets out a distressed and sorrowful cry before hanging his head and walking low to the ground....

Aircrest simply stood there in the pool of darkening blood, unmoving except for the occasional quiver. It seemed as if he was ignorant of the elder's words, but he had heard them clearly. Gripped by shock, the raptor didn't jump at the elder's sudden appearance. "Now it looks even more like the Deinonychus" The green and black raptor thought glumly, the brown raptor's head was thrown back by the blow and its gash was even more prominent. As the rusty red elder made his way past him, he growled "There...are other raptors around here. Raptors with quills...like you...but not quite like you. Do you...know what they are?" He turned his head to look at the raptor, a melancholy and confused expression on his face. It was a cruel irony. The elder who could answer his questions, showing up at such an...awkward time...

I can't take it anymore... Darkness thought to himself as he hopped off his perch skillfully. The thought of another trek through the caves was not so appealing this time, so he opted for a quick trip to the nearby stream...

Finally, there was nothing left of the kill. Both Blackside and Monozu had picked it clean. Only bones wre left of the Therizinosaurus. Both carnivores were now asleep... or so it seemed...

Down in the river, Bias continued to swim downstream. the eyes of the Deinosuchus looked all over, trying to spot any potential prey...

One of Eradicus' eyes shot open, then the other after he heard the cry of another predator, which he couldn't identify at the moment. He roared out in reply after getting up and shaking some sand off of him, before lumbering in the direction of the call...

"Oh. I see you've met the mutants" hissed Ripper nonchalantly, as if he had been informed about the day's weather. "Tell me....did you notice the small murky lake when you visited my home? the one with the strange overgrown plants growing out of it. had a web-like barrier all around it..." inquired the Elder calmly, seemingly ignoring the question...

"I didn't see any lake" Aircrest growled, unsure of the significance of the question. He looked back to the body before him as he came out of his daze of sorts, the green raptor realizing his feet were covered and stained crimson by the brown raptor's blood. He made a low rumble in his throat as he stepped out of the congealed puddle, making a note to find a stream to rinse off in as soon as possible. Right now he was literally marked by a scarlet beacon, the scent calling out to all sorts of creatures. He'd wait a bit more to get his answer however, so he growled "What exactly are the mutants?"

"That lake, is the product of the human's actions. the remains of whatever they did to create us. Mutants are every day raptors, just like you....only they have tried drinking from those lakes. one sip, and they've more or less condemned themselves. they become dependent on it, and cannot stop. with every sip, their bodies change just a bit more. more powerful, more sensitive to their surroundings...at a grave price. the majority you'll find will have completely lost their minds. insane, aggressive, murderous creatures that can no longer tell the difference between illusions and reality. brutal creatures. dangerous too. Unlike our unfortunate friend here, if a Mutant had attacked you, you would not only be slaughtered like a hatchling....you'd likely be made to suffer for it. a slow, agonising death the likes of which you couldn't even begin to imagine" growled the Elder, a combination of pity, disgust and loathing lacing his words...

"I could...imagine" Aircrest growled with a grimace, imagining the torture the two raptors he saw earlier went through. Several bites and slashes, but nothing to stop them from running until they had tired themselves out at a split in the ground. Then the mutants struck without mercy. While the raptors' deaths- though agonizing- were fast, the prelude to the moment of inevitability would have been terrifying. Such terrible creatures were a mockery of the life the humans had created, formed from the residue of their methods. It was an irony even crueler than the elder's mocking when Aircrest stood over his vanquished foe, the first he had ever fell. All the while, the elder brought tidings of the larger, stronger predators that roamed the island. It was clear that now more than ever, he had to get stronger. He wouldn't be able to run all the time; this instance alone proved that. He'd have to be able to hold his own...

As a large herd of sauropods slowly marches down to the river bank, they are oblivious to the eyes that watch them. The herd begins to drink thirsty from a days travel, one of the younger sauropods wads into the water. As he begins to drink he isn't aware of the giant shadow lurking under the water. In an instant Gustav is upon the surprised youngster, opening his jaws, Gustav engulfs the sauropods neck. With tremendious force Gustav pulls the youngster into deeper water were he can be properly drowned...

Gothmog continued lumbering through the jungle. Microraptors looked down at him from high in the trees before skittering out of sight the moment the young giga turns. He sniffs the air, but smells little, save for the damned raptors...
