"Oh, don't look so surprised, my dear. One does not need to know you to know your story. I would have thought such an experienced 'demon hunter' such as yourself would know this by now. Then again, you never do really hunt demons do you? You prefer to talk to them and ask them nicely to go somewhere else.....after which they eventually become someone else's problem. One can only wonder how the real Demon Hunting organisations would perceive this deception" rumbled Arashi through narrowed eyes. beating his wings powerfully, the Dragon ascended higher into the sky. "Now as much as I enjoy discussing the shortcomings of this pathetic little collection of misfits, I have more important matters to attend to" rumbled the Dragon with a snort, a puff of smoke spilling from his nostrils as he ascended. Enjoy yourself, Discord. I get the feeling these fools will be very amusing added the Dragon psychically to his chaotic comrade...

Four black spikes rose around the Demon's fallen form, white beams of energy shooting inwards from the edges and striking the fallen abomination, it's form lighting up as it morphed, the light intensifying gradually before a blinding flash filled the room, disappearing seconds later. The Vindicator approached the spot, picking up what looked like a large black crystal, glowing with greenish runes. the man swiftly placed it in a small satchel at his side, before turning to his friend, who was already heading for the door. "This place is closing up around us. We have to hurry" said the Archknight as he limped out the doorway and rushed up the stairs as fast as his injured form would allow, the Vindicator close behind, helping him up, the two soon ascending to the top of the unnatural staircase, emerging in the graveyard, the ground quaking around them as the chamber sealed itself, the ground almost returning to it's original state, only some mispositioned grass showing where the entrance had once been. "I....hate....pestilence demons" grumbled the Archknight irritably as he looked back at what remained of their conflict. "Eh. Can't expect everything to go easily. At least it's over now. We can continue hunting down Desrium" said Makkus calmly as he helped his friend out of the graveyard, heading for the hospital...

"To a degree" responded Septimus with a long sigh. "I am no longer an exile, and I am now assigned to find the others of my kind that were driven out. However, Arashi is still out there somewhere. There's no telling where he's gone or what he's up to, but if past experience is anything to go by, he's already working on a way to bend my kind to his will...and after that...who knows" he explained, sighing as he shook his head...

Andruil was quick to head back to the inn, the main hall abuzz with dwarves discussing what had happened earlier, a few snickers coming up whenever the term '*** monster' was mentioned, and the irritated grumbling of the Inn-keeper could still be heard over the activity. A cat could be seen perched on top of one of the large cabinets, obviously terrified of all the random activity during the usual quiet hours, and at the same time, apparently stuck due to the height of the cabinet and the fact the area all around it was occupied by Dwarves, the cat having had some bad experiences with them in the past. Andruil wasted no time lingering, and ascended the stairs to the room, pushing the doorway open. "You two ready to leave?" he asked as he walked in...

They haven't bored me yet, so that's a start, Discord replied, his mental voice laid back in tone. The chimeric creature slithered away, back towards the ground, a contented smile on his face. His newfound freedom was going swimmingly...

"Who is Arashi?" Desrium asked simply, knowing nothing about his friend's tumultuous family relationship. In hushed tones, Urlox and the guard spoke about the supposed message that the two travelers had brought with them. Seeing that Desrium was speaking to Septimus, Urlox asked Jiier "Well. I hear you've got news, so lets hear it. What's so big a threat that all of Aster is in danger?"

"It is a being, something far more dangerous than anything any of us have ever seen. If it prevails in its own plans, all of Aster will wither and die," Jiier explained, very serious. Although he did not have the same experience as Desrium, he had seen the being in question with his own eyes, and from that encounter alone, what he said was the truth.

'Ready when you are,' Arsenic replied, handing Vix her kitten. 'Your fuzzball decided my lap would make a good place to nap while you were gone.' Vix bit her lip to control a laugh and cradled the purring kitten as Arsenic shouldered his quiver.

"Of course," Tetto'eko added, sanding from his meditative position and leaning on his staff, Mordecai perched lazily on his shoulder. The Pseudodragon stared at the cat below with a mix of curiosity and mild anger at being one-upped...

Nitsunobue had begun to awaken, a bit cramped from being shoved in the tiny stall all night. The massive wyvern muscled his way out of the stables, as to allow himself to get some fresh air. The others were still not out and about yet, so Nitsunobue simply waited. Many of the small, diminuative, yet stout beings gave him odd looks, but he shrugged them off without a second thought. He just wanted to make the Archdemon pay for everything it's done... along with anyone associated with it.

Andruil chuckled as he eyed the kitten, before handing Arsenic's new bow to him. "Pity you weren't there for the 'grand unveiling'. was a blast" said the Knight with a chuckle as he handed Arsenic the spare bowstrings and a quiver of arrows. glancing over to Tetto'eko, he decided it was a good time to inquire. "You don't have a problem with heights, do you Tetto?"...

The Archknight and Vindicator soon walked into the hospital, where Valerius was busy tending the ill, most of them already cured, the potent cleansing and healing magic making short work of the plague. "The demon has fallen. Its pestilence will not bother you anymore" said Tacitus as he sat down in a chair, Valerius moving to inspect his wounds as Makkus took over the job of tending to the villagers...

"My father. the reason I was exiled from my home" responded Septimus calmly, his eyes shimmering for a moment as a familiar sight floated out of his satchel; a jar of honey, the cover dented from Desrium's bite two days prior...

Tetto'eko chuckled and shook his head. "If I recall, I was riding on the back of a dragon for some time before I met you good folks," he chittered. "I will be fine at high altitudes."

Arsenic smiled as he took his bow, admiring it for a moment. 'I wish I had been there to thank Thorgrim in person,' he said. 'It's a beautiful weapon indeed. Very fine craftsmanship.' He looked Andruil in the eye as he went on, 'I spoke with Aviva, and she would like to offer to fly out as fast as her wings will take her, with someone on her back, to let everyone back at the village know we're alright and that things have gone smoothly. Zar offered to stay behind, in case there's more trouble on the way back.'

"I see" Desrium said, not delving further on the issue and taking the honey jar. It seemed his time away from his preferred snack wasn't nearly as long as he thought. "Then you are on your quest now?" he asked, noting how suddenly things had changed. He and Jiier were off warning Aster of impending doom, Septimus was setting things right with his home...

"Wither and die?" Urlox asked, stroking his beard. "That sounds like something...beyond what we are equipped to face. Are we the first to hear of this or what?" said the captain of the guard, grave concern evident in his expression. Gone was the lighthearted guide Septimus encountered, what stood in his place was the rugged, experienced warrior that led Daaven's defenders into battle.

A few of the village's able bodied, including those recently cured, took containers of bandages and herbs over to Tacitus to aid in dressing his wounds, while the doctor approached Makkus with a broad smile. "Then that is it? The sickness will end soon?" he asked expectantly. "That is wonderful news! Furosta will be free of this blight, finally!"

"So far, me and my companion have been to two other settlements, requesting aid from them as well. One has heeded our warning, and the other shows promise. We intend to continue spreading our message as far as we can," Jiier explained, calm and collected.

"As far as you can..." Urlox mused, gazing down at the porch. "Then you can consider Daaven a part of this collaboration of forces, but you've got to promise me you'll have more fighters to stand with us at the final hour. If what you say is true, it is the only way we will survive this" said the guard captain before he started off. With urgency in his stride, he walked down the street into the inner city, his destination being the hall of the council...

At that moment, Syria stepped into the doorway, watching as Urlox went on his way, duty bound. "Where's he off to in such a hurry..." she muttered before turning her attention to the three unlikely travelers. In her hands were numerous books she acquired, all regarding myths and legends, from the well known to the obscure. An example of this was an account of the serpent Jormungandr and its domain in the Hiorol forestland and a tattered journal she found. It was once a sailor's before he became catatonic and in it he described a beast from the ocean, with barbed arms that tore his ship and crew mates apart...

"Good" said Andruil with a nod to the reptile as he plucked up his travel satchel off the bed, the satchel carrying essentials like medicine, a bed roll, a water skin and a few other things. It was larger than the relatively small one he carried on his back, because of the fact that it was meant to be attached to a mount. Having heard Arsenic's news, he nodded. "Excellent" he answered, thinking it over in his head. "I think it's best if You go on ahead. You and Aviva are more attuned to eachother than the rest of us. You'd manage yourselves better together than others if something were to happen en route. And they'd probably trust you more than me. They'd sooner turn Tetto here into a suit of leather armour" he added jokingly as he eyed Tetto with an amused grin...

"Technically. I have absolutely no idea where they are. So I will simply have to ask around and hope I stumble across them over time" answered Septimus, cocking his head as he overheard the conversation between Jiier and Urlox. "What's this ab-" he started, just as Syria walked up with the books. "Oh, wonderful! This is just what I was looking for. What would you wish for in return for them?" he asked, his inquiry temporarily forgotten...

"It should be. We will need to make sure you're all cured of it before we depart" said Makkus with a smile. "But now we know the source of the plague is gone. So once you've been cured, you should not have to fear it returning" explained the Vindicator, as his colleague tended to the Archmage alongside those few with medical experience, working to reverse what damage they could...

"That does not seem very effective" Desrium said, looking over to Syria and seeing the woman raise an eyebrow as she tried to comprehend what had taken place outside her doors. "Um, 12 pieces should cover everything" she replied, not expecting a dragon to be carrying money on it... though she never expected a dragon to carry bags to begin with.

"How are we ever to repay you?" asked the old man, an eager smile on his weathered face.

Jiier turned away as the captain of the guard departed, waiting patiently for Septimus to finish up his business with Syria.

"Oh, I don't know Tetto. They seemed to be highly skilled fighters from where I was standing" said Andruil with a smirk, patting the skink on the back before heading out the door. "Now, enough chatter. Let's get this journey under way!" he said as he headed for the stairs, making a beeline for the Gryphon stables...

Septimus nodded. "A sizeable sum for a sizeable wealth of knowledge" he growled, his eyes shimmering as 12 gleaming silver coins emerged from his left satchel in a row, seeming to spin in the air as they descended before the woman, a single dark brown book rising from the right satchel, landing in Septimus's open hand, the silver coins piling on top of the dark brown, red leather-trimmed book, the title Magic and Mana: A Historical & Practical Guide to The Arcane Arts decorating the spine in gold font. "May they bring you as much pleasure as these books will bring me" he growled with a smile...

Byakuren's hands tightened into fists, and she looked up right at Arashi as he was ascending. No, he was wrong. Demons that she helped out tended to stay away from human settlements, but they never fotgot her kindness and compassion. They followed her advice, and stayed with her teachings.Back where she had come from, it was from 4 demons she had helped out long ago that she had been unsealed from the demonic realm. She wasn't apart of any official demon hunting organization, nor did she want to be. However, her goal, to see a world where humans and demons could live alongside one another without the cycle of violence and hatred that seemed so pervasive, would be meet, no matter the cost, or who got in the way. Her shock over Arashi figuring her out had now been swept away, and a newfound determination had set in. If he could read her mind, then she need not say anything... Never did she regret her choice, long ago, to help out demons, nor would she now...
