"People have come to me for a few things in my time as inn keep, food, a room, never to buy books though. Makes me wonder if I should offer the service formally" Syria wondered out loud, taking the silver coins and tucking them into the pouch on her belt. She then took to the book and tucked it under her arm, curious to see its contents.

Desrium looked to Jiier and said "We should start moving again." He took the map from his sleeve and unrolled it, scanning it for the next city to receive the warning...

"Uh...perhaps you might want to explain all this to Septimus?" Jiier suggested, unsure if the other dragon was going to accompany them or not.

"Indeed. What IS going on?" growled Septimus, obviously more than a bit bewildered as to the two's eagerness to keep moving...

Re: Fantasy RPG Redux

Syria sat down on the porch, watching the odd trio go about their business and finding herself accepting the scene playing out before her. She found it strange that she was able to be in their presence and be curious- if not a bit confused- while others passing the inn gave them a wide girth and hurried along on their way. She sighed, as it were sights like those that made her want to educate Daaven of the magical world many were ignorant about. She put the large book on her lap and inspected its cover. Was this the first step to realizing her goal?

"You did not feel it when you returned to the cave?" Desrium asked. The aura of the shadowed entity remained all over the cliff face upon its arrival, leaving a residual magical charge that energized the very rocks themselves, adding to the already mana rich area. "The same being we encountered at Zuppoland appeared to Jiier and I threatening our destruction. A unicorn told me that all of Aster faces that fate, and that I should spread the message as far as I can. Jiier and I have been doing just that" said the armored being, leaving out several details as per the norm...

"I felt the entity's presence there. But that alone is not enough to tell me of everything that had happened" rumbled Septimus, still somewhat confused at the explanation. "....A unicorn....came and told you Aster is in danger. For one, what was a Unicorn doing up in the cave, and two, how would it know?" growled the Hueilin, having trouble piecing the story together from the patchy explanation he was given...

"You needn't. It is our duty to root out and destroy demonic forces wherever we find them" responded Makkus with a smile, as Valerius tended to the Archknight, closing wounds and cleansing him of the pestilent demonic taint. "Come to think of it....If there's anything at all you can tell us about the direction or intentions of Desrium, it would be highly beneficial to our cause. It is potentially far more deadly than the creature that sickened your town"...

"The unicorn was in my mind. I think. The shadow-being was angry about me speaking to her, but she was able to stop him from punishing me. It is clear she is also immensely powerful" Desrium answered. Despite the straightforward answer, it must have seemed that he was being cryptic.

"I...am sorry" said the doctor, shaking his head. "After it retreated into the forest, the village people didn't pursue it. Where it went from there is beyond us. I could only assume it found our neighbors, Jhiladra and Ouilord but if what you say is true...oh dear" he added, his face marred by dread as he considered what the armored being could have done to the other villages....

"Now you see how difficult our task is," Jiier interjected. The more Desrium explained, the more it seemed like lunacy...

"Indeed" growled Septimus as he eyed Jiier. "Have you had any success in convincing others? I can't expect many of the common farmers and merchants would believe a story like that without seeing it themselves" he asked, doubtful of what hope there was in the cause...

"Yes" Desrium replied without elaboration. He started reflecting on the details of the journey so far, from his time in Grymhaven to Vanguard, where he stared upon the form of the Doomfang...

"...We've been to two other towns, and both have shown promise. Thankfully they didn't ask for elaboration," Jiier explained after Desrium showed no sign of doing so.

"Where do you plan to go next?" growled the Dragon curiously, weighing his options. He could accompany them on their journey or head off on his own, possibly helping to spread the message...

"We will investigate them both as soon as the sick here are completely seen to" said Tacitus firmly, nodding to the people helping tend to him as he stood, as if telling them their help was appreciated, but no longer required...

"We do not know. We do not know yet, that is" Desrium responded, returning his attention to the map.

Septimus thought it over for a few minutes, considering the situation carefully. Finally, he looked up at the two. "I would save places like Tristan and Freyr-Lunge till last if I were you. They are the capitals of Germania and Draxon, respectively, but they are also the capitals of highly influencial religious organisations. I have doubts they'd take kindly to warnings of the apocalypse, and may even begin hindering your progress. With most of Aster informed of it however, news will reach those places, and people will more likely accept your message when you arrive. The majority opinion will overrule any official commands the priests and lords of Germania and Draxon may announce" he growled...

After a quick look at the map, Jiier responded, "Hmm...One of the towns we've been to was a part of Draxon, according to the map. It may not work as well as we think, then."

"It should work so long as the knowledge spreads wide enough that investigators hear it from many sources. It's more difficult to strike down as false if everyone knows about it. Its one of the reasons why its common belief that Dragons are ferocious, mindless animals, in spite of the fact that's hardly true" growled Septimus with a smirk...

Once outside, Vix gave Arsenic a brief hug and said, "Safe journey." 'Same to you,' Arsenic replied. He let his now deep blue gaze flick from her to Andruil and gave a small nod. 'Aviva and I will see you back home.' He headed off to meet up with Aviva and get ready for the flight. Vix watched him go for a moment before following Andruil.

"I was not aware," Jiier replied with a frown, the expression mostly hidden under the hood. The simian knew that dragons might not be well received by most people because of their imposing nature, but he did not know they were viewed so badly.

"Things tend to pass you by when in isolation" growled Septimus, speaking from the experience of his entire species. "But the point stands. I advise you to inform the smaller towns and villages before moving on to capital cities. I can do my best to spread the word during my travels, if you wish. Or I can accompany you and assist your cause. If things do not go as planned, an extra fighter or negotiator at your side may well be useful" he added...

"We'll be sure to inform you of all the misadventures that happen in your absence, complete with every last tantalizing detail" said Andruil with a sly smirk, injecting some humour into the situation...

Meanwhile, on the mountainous horizon South East of Freyr-Lunge, the sprawling wings and shimmering scales of The Stormweaver could be seen, closing in on the Draxon capital city, eyes locked on the palace at its centre...

Arsenic looked back over his shoulder, cracking a smirk. 'I'd be disappointed if you didn't, my friend,' he said. He quickened his pace, knowing Aviva would already be waiting for him. Vix gave her neck a brief crack, getting rid of any tension there while she still could. "So," she said, toying with the hilt of one of her new daggers, "what's it like to ride a gryphon? Or don't you know?" she added, cocking her head to one side.
