"THU'AMN."

The sound reverberated across the plateau and the surrounding forest. A split second after, the debris blocking the passage was hurled from the hallway, almost crushing Icil in the process, leaving a large open hole into the temple. From within, Radamand stepped out, easily more than twice the necromancer's height. "This place is sacred. The foul taint of demons shall never reach its walls. Leave or be destroyed."

"Had quite the sleep," Jiier responded after a moment of silent confusion, almost jumping out of his skin again when he heard Radamand's shout...

"I am glad. You have expended much of your strength on our quest" Desrium replied as if he did not hear the thunderous bellow of the giant. "I am also glad that intruders did not come in the night" the armored being added.

Icil screamed in fright and evaded quickly, the sudden action alarming both her and Rattlebones. "I m-mean no harm to y-you nor this temple. I-I am simply h-here for exploration..." she said in a quiet and shy voice to what seemed to be the guardian of this place. "W-why would I t-taint this place? I-I do n-not intend to d-destroy or d-damage anything i-in any sort of w-way, sir. I-I apologize f-for disturbing you..."

Icil had no weapons at arm, as her skull was back with Rattlebones, and as long as she wasn't holding it, it was useless. The expression on her face was like a rat's when the sight of a cat was before its eyes. She backed up slowly, trying to make piece with Radamand.

"Your intentions are of no concern of mine," Radamand growled, looking down at the necromancer with disgust. "I can smell the taint in your blood. You will come no closer to the temple if you wish to keep your life." As with Arashi, the guardian of the shrine was not exactly happy with the idea of having such tainted creatures around, but only the temple itself was off limits to them.

"No kidding," Jiier growled in response, chuckling nervously. "I do hope this isn't anything serious."

"If it is, then the cause of the problem will not exist for long" Desrium said, the two having the greatest knowledge of Radamand's potential out of any other in Aster. "With that said, would you be ready to continue my training?"

"I'm not tainted, guardian... please do not make the mistake of assuming I'm a servant of Satan from the fact that I'm a succubus... please." Icil was trying to stop being so afraid, but it was almost impossible for her to maintain her fear. Her wings folded around her body as if it were a blanket. At least she felt somewhat secure. She was too scared to do anything but to try and calm Radamand down while cowering under his size alone. She didn't want to find out his strength.

"Your blood is tainted. This is fact. Begone from this place," Radamand growled, his expression unchanging. It would seem he could not be convinced, and for good reason.

"I suppose now is as good of time as any," Jiier replied. He had no idea how long they would need to wait for the proper forces to be assembled, so they might as well make use of their time.

"I don't even want to go into your temple. I just need to explore the area around it and I'll be off. Now if you please, great guardian." she said as she fluttered upwards, so her face would meet his. Her hands were on her hips and her head was tilted. "Is that fine enough for you?"

"You may explore the shrine so long as you show it the proper respect," Radamand growled, his flame-like pupils growing larger. "But if you approach the temple again, I will end you," the giant concluded, turning away from the necromancer and striding over to the massive hole in the temple. There had been other such damage throughout the ancient structure, but nothing that compromised the security so severely. Radamand stopped as he reached the threshold of the wound, bowing his head and closing his eyes. The giant began to chant under his breath in an unknown language. The puddles of rain water that dotted the area around the temple began to writhe and squirm, eventually snaking their way to the hole in the wall. Within seconds, the hole was patched with what seemed like a perpetual waterfall, the wall of water sustaining itself quite effectively.

"I don't see why not. Both of your training requires practice, of course, so I won't have to instruct all the time," Jiier responded, somewhat surprised to hear that Septimus wished to learn from him. Although he did not know the scholar's age, he always assumed he had nothing to teach to such a worldly dragon.

Elias smirked a bit then spoke " i will sir " he said as he cracked his neck still stiff from the night before . " hey knight you know a way to repair this " he said softly as he pulled out his dagger that he used for hunting and drew it . The blade had large pieces missing from it as if they were chipped away from battling and hunting , and had rust among a few parts of it .
" Dear God the only thing I ask of you is
to hold her when I'm not around,
when I'm much too far away
We all need that person who can be true to you
But I left her when I found her
And now I wish I'd stayed
'Cause I'm lonely and I'm tired
I'm missing you again oh no
Once again " - avenged sevenfold dear god

"You said before you wished to learn how to fight hand-to-hand," Jiier responded before being engulfed in a brilliant display of light, his form shrinking down to a size similar to Desrium's: his simian form.

Surprised by this sudden action, Icil sighed, pulling out her journal.

She wrote: I would go into the temple, if I wouldn't be killed by this big guardian guy. He said my blood was tainted or something, I don't get it. After a quick little "chat," he said I could explore the shrine, but not the temple itself. Bummer.

She then put the book in her bags as she looked at the shrine that this large being had told her about...

Andruil cringed as he looked at the damaged blade. "I'm no expert in the art of blade-smithing, but if I had to take a guess, I would say to repair it, it would have to be completely reforged. That rust will spread in time, and eventually, the blade will become as brittle as a dry leaf, liable to shatter at the slightest blow. The chips in the blade aren't a major issue, but it will need to be honed, and the resulting blade will probably be slimmer than the original. If it does not hold any sentimental value to you, I would recommend buying a replacement. It would probably end up cheaper than reforging the blade from scratch" he said. Glancing over to Vix and Tetto'eko, he decided to get things moving. "Vix, Tetto? The village is waiting for us. I say it's about time we cleaned up and got moving"...

Arashi's eyes opened, the whitish red glow visible plainly as he ceased his meditation, setting his hands on the ground as he shifted into a more comfortable position. "I'm sure you're wondering by now how I managed to travel Aster without anyone ever remembering my departure" he rumbled as he looked down at Septimus, who seemed curious, though still wary. "The answer lies in the mana well beneath Drakhunmiir. You see, at the time, I was trying out more experimental magicks than anything our kind had ever done before. Inter-communication, invasive mind control, psychically activated spontaneous combustion, even teleportation, to name a few, though the latter has since been irrefutably been proven impossible. One such experimental magic, was that of time and its manipulation" explained the Elder, Septimus's expression shifting noticably, caught somewhere between intrigue and ridicule. "Most will tell you that time is an untouchable force, beyond the reach of simple living beings, and normally, they would be right. The currents of time are a relentless torrent, washing everything away in its power. However, as I later learned, with enough power of your own, and the correct application, you can form a temporary gateway outside the currents of time. I was at the peak of my power, and perhaps, to a greater degree, my recklessness, when I sought to do just that. Even the greatest of our ancestors were not so bold as to meddle with time itself. It was believed to be borderline suicidal, and with good reason. Even now I do not fully understand how exactly I escaped the fate all those before me have suffered. I theorised, over a period of a century and a half, that time behaved much like a waterfall. There was only one direction to it, which was why time travel was so unheard of, and so thoroughly rebuked. I experimented with small things at first, because the smaller the object, the smaller the quantity of power required to put it through the test. I used a combination of psychic manipulation and psychic fields to allow me to get my test subjects, most often a fully grown riptox, or other similarly sturdy creature affected by the Mana Well, through this psychic gateway. The gateway that would open up was beautiful, yet terrifying, a cyclone of blue, white and purple light that seemed to literally destroy everything in its immediate vicinity, plant-life dying, dirt becoming arid and desolate, creatures unprotected dissolving into dust before your eyes. My first experiment failed, horribly. In my shock at the sight of the gateway, my focus faltered, and the creature I had planned to send through, was momentarily exposed, its head being destroyed by the destructive forces of the gateway. The pain of those final moments it experienced was mine as much as it was the creature's own. The experiments would leave me drained and tired, and it was not unusual for the common answer of my whereabouts to be 'In his den, sleeping'. These experiments continued for nearly two hundred years, before I finally made a breakthrough" he concluded. wisps of energy swirled before the elder, forming a visual depiction of the gateway, wisps of blue, white and purple swirling in on eachother in a cyclone, another wisp forming the shape of a small creature resembling a lizard skittering towards it, before being engulfed in a flash, the gateway and the creature that entered it disappearing.

"It was on one evening, in a cave beneath the waterfall at the foot of Khulruud's peak, that I experienced something strange. As I sent my experiment through a gateway, I felt my grip on it slip for an instant. However, it wasn't through a lack of focus. It was more like the creature resisted my manipulation, despite that being impossible for such a simple minded animal. The odd thing was, when I regained my grip on it, a split second later...it was once again in the cave. I looked down at it, and saw that it was older than it had been when I sent it through. When I scanned its mind, It revealed to me something extraordinary. Memories existed in its mind that dated back nearly three years, despite it having only been gone from the chamber for a second. I realised that what I had done was send the creature back three years, to this very location. After that, it had lived its life out of this chamber, incidentally being here when I sent it's past self back in time!" stated the Elder, showing an animation in his tone that Septimus could hardly remember ever hearing. For once, he seemed excited about something. "It was then that I realised that to compare time to a waterfall was inaccurate. It was like a river. A stream. The significance is in the fact that once you leave a river or stream, you are free to move to a different location, whereas with a waterfall, doing so is still only going to allow you to go in one direction. It had been suggested before, by other experimentalists amongst our kind, but it had never been proven. Spurred on by this discovery, I proceeded to experiment further, spending the next 300 years teaching myself how to gauge the distance in time I wished to travel, and using various elements I planted in the location the test took place, to help me improve the accuracy of my actions. Things such as snares, nets, predators, rune-traps. I eventually managed to hone my accuracy to within a half hour's drift, a quarter on either side. These experiments also required me to learn how to repair damage caused by the gateway on flesh, so that I could tend to any injury that may be caused. I found that it was quite different to regenerating flesh damaged by more conventional means, but I eventually managed to do so successfully enough that I was able to save a Riptox even after it had lost most of its body. At the end of those three centuries of learning, experimentation and practice, I finally felt that it was time to step forward to the ultimate test of my abilities; I decided to experiment on myself. In retrospect, that may have been the greatest mistake I had ever committed"...

Zar gave a low rumble of agreement as Vix nodded and headed to the stream and gave her face a quick wash. She didn't really remember her dreams, but there was no mistaking the feel of salty residue on her face. She'd been crying. The young woman cringed inwardly as she wondered if she'd spoken aloud during her nightmares. Had she said much of anything? And if so, what had she said? Then she paused, something else nagging at her. She glanced at Zar and Andruil, turned toward Elias, and asked slowly, "Where were you planning to go?"

Elias stoo there for a moment as he put his blade away trying to think of something to say " honestly i dont know im really just a wonderer nothing more nothing less at this point where ever the windwill take me " he said softly with a hint on lonelyness in his voice . He let out a soft sigh as he went to the stream and bent down useing his hands to cup the water useing it to take a quick drink .

Icil walked through the shrine, making sure not to come too close to the temple. She was cautious on each step she took, trying not to lose her footing on the forest terrain.

She wrote: Well, this shrine is really hard to walk on. I'm probably going to just go back to Rattlebones and leave. I really want to explore that temple, though... I know I shouldn't, but it's tempting... I'll think about it. Anyway, this shrine is very interesting. The forest surrounding it is quite spectacular, and it adds a mysterious touch to the place. I wouldn't suggest thinking about going into the temple anytime soon, however...

Vix hesitated. Conflicting instincts tore at her; the urge to get home was there, at the very forefront of her mind. But also there was the deeply engraved habit of caring for people - making sure they were at full strength before she sent them on their way. She took a deep breath and decided to, instead of just saying come with us, offer him the choice. "Where we're going," she began, "is a quiet village - relatively out of the way. Very few have heard of it, though you'll run into the occasional traveler who's been through there. I live and run an inn there - I give the people who need it a place to call home, if they so choose. A bed to sleep in, a roof over their heads. Medical care if they've been injured...." she paused and glanced at her companions. Zar cocked his head at her as if wondering where she was going with this. "If you wanted," she went on slowly, "you could 'wander' toward there."

Icil kept moving forward, keeping sure that she was far enough from the temple that Radamand would not attack her again. She heard a hoot-like call from coming from the temple, but she was sure that it was just her imagination. The call could be heard again, and this time Icil's pace increased as she grew more cautious of her surroundings. Suddenly, a wyvern-like bird creature, suited in colorful and vivid feathers from head to tail, swooped from the top of the temple, nearly clawing Icil's face...
