It wasn't long before Bolthammer, his sentinel bodyguard, and the leader of the goblin mages strode into the courtyard as well. Normally, as a goblin, Bolthammer would feel intimidated by the sheer size of the creatures around him, but with Lucifron at his side, he wasn't worried. "If any of you need weapons and armor, don't you worry! The goblins of the Steelcup Cartel have come prepared! For only a small donation of gold, you too can be outfitted in the finest of goblin smithing!" Bolthammer announced loudly, gesturing dramatically toward the goblin camp down in the forest below. Shortly after, the viking man Desrium and Jiier had met in Vanguard arrived, flanked by two burly bodyguards, though they all looked quite cheerful.
It was then that Tzeentch descended the stairs of the temple, appearing before the assembled parties. "The fate of Aster will be decided in mere hours. You all must know our plan, and your parts in it," the changeling announced, her voice amplified loud enough to be heard by all those assembled in front of her. "We are to face a threat like no other. The scorned father of all of Aster has returned. He cares nothing of the life he once protected," she continued, pointing with a robed arm toward the encroaching darkness. "Eredar, God of Shadows, has come to claim what is his."
"But all is not lost," Radamand cut in, his voice booming over the courtyard. "The gods have not forsaken you, children of Aster. Soel, Mistress of Storms, believes this land can be saved. They watch over us. We cannot fail."
Tzeentch nodded approvingly to the giant. "We have devised a means to rid our home of this blight. The very essence of magic, the ley lines that stretch throughout the world, will be the conduit of our wrath," the elemental explained, extended her hands out in front of her, as a miniature jagged landscape appeared, made of pure energy. At the center was a massive crater, shrouded in darkness. "This is where the Traitor resides. It is the duty of the mages to gather and redirect the ley energies into the enemy of all life. It is the duty of the rest to protect them while they work."
Small figures appeared in their hundreds of thousands on the little display, filling the spaces between three massive cliffs, as well as lining the cliffs themselves. At the center of the jagged pieces of land were circles of spellcasters, channeling what represented the ley energies into the center of the crater. "One group cannot succeed without the other. The Traitor himself may be suppressed as he is attacked, but his legions of the damned will attack unabated," Tzeentch continued, as a gargantuan horde of creatures appeared opposite to the cliffs, surrounding the blackened crater in their unimaginable multitudes. Due to the nature of the shattered land, the passages the would-be defenders were blocking were the only means to access the cliffs on which the spellcasters worked.
"Eredar's influence will be felt. You will all be tested, mentally and physically. You must remember what you are fighting for. You must remember that whatever he offers you, whatever he threatens you with, will be your demise if you concede," the changeling explained, her tone deadly serious. "And you must never- and I mean never -take the ley energies into yourself. This is not the mana you feel around you, or even the mana experienced at the Mana Wells. This is untamed, raw energy. No one, mortal, immortal, or god, can tame such power. You must instruct your kin to channel it and nothing more. To try and command it will be your own demise."
