Riptide's head darted forward, jaws parting with the movement and taking a step forward as if he were going to try for a bite, trying to fool the stranger into thinking he was going to attack.

Darkness lashed out defensively with a clawed hand, narrowly missing the mutant's snout...

Riptide suddenly took another couple of steps forward, stretching out his neck further, his jaws snapping shut on the other mutant's arm. He took a step back, jerking his head from side to side in an attempt to break the limb or at least to some serious damage to it.

Darkness hissed angrily, moving with the mutant rather then against it, to minimize the damage. The dark raptor's other hand smashed into his adversary's head, claws digging into its snout in an attempt to force it to release his arm...

Rather than letting go, Riptide closed his eyes and bit down harder, shaking his head more violently to force his teeth even deeper into flesh and muscle. Even if he couldn't break the limb, he'd do as much damage as he could.

Darkness pushed his claws further, yanking the limb downward, tearing a large gash into the raptor's face, pulling his claws free in the process, once again trying to force the mutant to release...

Riptide let out a muffled snarl and let go, taking a few steps back as he ran his tongue over his blood-streaked fangs. Some of that blood was his own, he was sure. He resumed circling, flicking his head to one side to scatter droplets of blood from his muzzle.

As the mutant released its grip and backed away, Darkness rushed forward to counter attack, jaws slamming shut on its shoulder. The dark raptor was ignoring the intense pain radiating from his arm: Although it wasn't broken, it was beyond use in the current conflict...

With a pained and angry snarl, Riptide's head swung around, jaws snapping at the other mutant's flesh. If he could secure a hold of his own, he might have a chance at breaking the one the dark raptor had on him.

Darkness trashed his head from side to side, while using his working arm to rake his claws across the mutant's flank...

The blue-stiped mutant's teeth snapped shut on the stranger's shoulder in return. His neck was forced to bend awkwardly just to acheive the bite, and the grip his fangs had gotten was poor at best. There was no way for Riptide to hold on for much longer than a few seconds...but maybe that was all he'd need.

Darkness clenched harder, both to fight through his own pain as well as causing more pain to his adversary. The dark raptor shoved the other mutant back, painfully causing it to lose its grip for the time, hand claws sinking into its side, Darkness' jaws still fastened on its shoulder...

Riptide's head swung around again, faint desperation in the movement as his jaws again snapped shut on barely anything. An agonized snarl rasped in his throat as he struggled to hold on.

Darkness swung his usable arm up, hacking down the mutant's neck with his claws, causing blood to spill onto his own head. Although his vision was obstructed by the blood, the dark raptor did not release his hold on his adversary...

In agony, vision blurred somewhat by the pain, and as his head was forced to swing back when his grip yet again failed, Riptide bit down as hard as he could on the dark raptor's good arm. As he did so he brought up a clawed foot to try and kick the other mutant away.

Darkness yanked his head to the side, pulling the raptor with him, the mutant unable to stop itself from falling with only one leg on the ground, though the dark raptor was forced to release his adversary, freeing his own arm in the process.

Riptide flipped onto his feet and stood shakily, his breathing labored. His blood dripped from his snout, neck and shoulder to stain the grass red. Despite the anger and pain coursing through him, his head dipped in a tiny nod; a small but respectful acknowledgement of the other raptor's fighting skill. Riptide started circling his opponent again, not sure anymore of which one of them would be the one to land the finishing blow.

Darkness once again began circling in the opposite direction, silently assessing the situation. Given time, his adversary would surely die from its wounds...but his own condition was little better. The dark raptor had to end it quickly...but he couldn't risk making a mistake...

Riptide, in an effort to make the other believe he was weaker than he actually was, began to exaggerate the small tremors in his muscles. His steps became more uneven, the striped raptor making himself seem as shaky on his feet as possible. This fight, at the rate it was going, would end in death for both of them; if not by the slash of a claw, then from their wounds. He needed to entice the dark raptor into attacking, and finish it quickly.

Darkness took a step forward, seeing the weakness in the creature's movements, but knew better then to assume victory was his already...
