Riptide allowed himself to sway slightly with every step, as if he were on the verge of collapse.

Darkness lunged forward the moment the raptor stumbled, hurling his body against his enemy rather then trying to latch onto it...

As soon as the other mutant made contact, though he was sent even further off-balance, Riptide reflexively reached up to dig his hand claws deep into its flesh. His teeth joined the assault a moment later as he tried to find his footing again, curved fangs meeting in the dark raptor's shoulder.

Darkness, expecting retaliation, smashed his working hand against the mutant's jaw, pulling it off his shoulder before it could get a firm hold. The dark raptor took a small step back, trying to avoid his adversary's claws...

Riptide snarled and dug his claws in even further, turning his snapping jaws on the other raptor's good arm once again.

Darkness sent a kick at the raptor's chest, pushing it back with the force, causing it to narrowly miss his arm, the dark raptor's toe claw slashing down its chest in the process...

Riptide actually did collpase at that, falling onto one side, panting heavily. Pain flared from every wound, coupled with the sensation of blood trickling down his skin sluggishly. He tried and failed to get up, exhaustion finally catching up to him. His breaths came fast and short as he panted, his strength failing him yet again as he tried to find his feet.

Darkness, showing no hesitation, delivered a quick kick to the mutant's head, slamming it against the ground with the force, as well as gouging its skull with his toe claw...

Riptide let out a short screech of pain that was cut off abruptly. His ice blue eyes clouded over. He was going to die - that much he knew. He could only hope that the wounds he'd given the other mutant would be enough to kill it, too.

Rather then finish the raptor off, Darkness simply limped away without hesitation. He needed to rest, and was in no shape to run from a predator attracted to the sounds and smells of their fight...

Very good fight, HF. Wasn't sure who would win until the very end, as it should be.

Though I can't give a review, as I'm a biased party :P

Will annoy Doc into reviewing it.

Well well well, I don't know which raptor fight was more entertaining, the one with CS vs. EE, or this one, though the former DID have those super branches :lol:

In all seriousness, this looked liek a very well done fight. Props to both of you giving it your best. Now, to try and find the faults in here...

A real fight's out come is determined in the first 7 seconds. :P

Here goes. As this was an endurance battle, to start off, I shall do a tally of both raptors wounds:

Riptide

->Bruising on chest ( shoulder ram)
->Stuned (Headbutt)
First blood->light claw wound on head
bleeding->Heavy claw wound into side of head
->heavy bruising on chest-possible cracked rib (second critical shoulder ram)
->Definite cracked rib/s (double kick to chest)
->piercing wound on top of snout, digging into skull, unbearable pain (claws dug in to snout)
Heavy bleeding->Heavy gash down head (dug in claws raking down)
->numerous heavy piercing wounds in shoulder (bite)
*
Critical bleeding-> muscle torn, bone crushed, heavy tearing (Thrashing)
->heavy claw wound down flank
Limb failure-> Shoulder completely crushed
->heavy piercing wound in side, worsening previous injury
Spinal damage, ridiculous blood loss-> heavy claw wound to back of neck
->light bruising (Heavy fall)
->Arm barely attached, visibly hanging off (result of repeated thrashing via bite to shoulder)
->Heavy claw wound to head, stunning, huge pain (claw strike)
->Further broken ribs, deep gash across chest (kick to chest)
Death->piercing and physical wound to skull, brain haemorrhaging, further bleeding on snout

Darkness

First blood-> claw wound across his jaw
->piercing wound in shoulder with tear (claws dug in, before struggle)
->Minor daze (resulting from intentional headbutt)
Heavy bleeding->Gash down flank (toe claws)
->grazed arm (missed kick)
-> piercing wound in both shoulders, worsening previous injury (claws dug in once again, no tearing wound)
->Bruised flank (heavy fall)
Critical Bleeding-> Torn muscle, damaged ligaments and vicious surface damage to arm (bite followed by thrashing)
Limb failure->Further arm damage, effect lessened attack has already done as much damage as possible
*
->Numerous light piercing wounds to shoulder (weak bite)
->Numerous heavy piercing wounds, minor muscle tear (Minor bite)
->Heavy piercing wound to under belly (claws dug in)
Ridiculous blood loss-> worsening of previous shoulder injury (bite)
->Victory

From that, we can see that both raptors are absolutely screwed and very much so dead. I am surprised that neither of them collapsed and died mid fight.

This was a fight between two defensive specialists, making it a bit uninteresting to start off. The fight was decided, when TT switched tactics to aggression and promptly ripped Riptide (no pun intended) to pieces.

Hf looked like the winner from early on, as Riptide's strikes on darkness were far more lethal than the ones he received. Looking at the list of injuries, Riptide didn't suffer first blood till some way into the fight and his defensive tactics prevented Darkness from making any sort of use from his purely physical attacks. Darkness was given many opportunities to score a lethal hit during this time, but was put off by Riptide's tactics and his own hesitation.

By the time Darkness did retaliate with force, it should have been too late. Riptide's cracked ribs paled in comparision to the sheer amount of blood lost by Darkness, this should have weakned the ebony raptor to the point that Riptide should have massacred him. The critical moment was Darkness's bite to Riptides shoulder. Such a strike is only truely effective when the opponent is subdued, Riptide had enough fight in him to respond, but ended up doing so very ineffectively. There, he was given the opportunity to land any number of instantly lethal wounds on darkness. He could have slashed his throat open, rammed his claws through darkness's eye's, or he could have just smashed his hand against darkness's head, the resulting stun would have forced him to let go.

I placed an asterisk (*) in both injury tallies, to show the moment i'm talking about. you can see that at this point, darkness had suffered much more grievous wounds than Riptide.

Conclusion: Good fight to both parties, but not the 'real raptor fight' TT had envisioned. This was more a fight of large carnivores such as Allosaurs. Neither party used any sort of critical kill move that raptors are infamous for. There was no piercing toe claws, no suffocating bites and bizarrely, no pins or grapples. Both sides had at opportunities for both, which were missed or squandered.

The fight was good, in that it was evenly matched, but only because both combatants were just as poor at playing to their character's strengths, making it uninteresting in my personal opinion.

Well said...though I guess the concept of a perfect "raptor battle" would differ from person to person :P

In terms of fairness, in my opinion, it was a good example.

Yes, as far as the sparring topic goes, that fight was pitch perfect in terms of courtesy, fairness, restraint and most importantly, a bit of common sense.

Sorry for not pointing that out, generally I read a fight, then rant about the things that piss me off, here, I had nothing, so it completely slipped my mind.
It really is a credit to both you and HF. In a proper fight, one shouldn't really have to think about fairness or whatever, this one achieved that.
