The dark raptor's head calmly turned to regard the newcomers. His intact eye had been pointed in their direction, giving them the impression that he was normal - at least, physically. Now, the unsightly truth had been revealed.

The crocodile, however, was not so inclined to give up. With the raptor's attention elsewhere, it saw its chance and gave one final lunge. Final it was, but not in the way that it had intended.

The reptile's jaws slammed shut on empty air, but instead of the predator's claws across its mangled snout, the raptor's foot drove its head into the mud, sickle claw digging through its scales and into its brain.

"Do you lot live here?" Darkness growled, the tone in his voice giving no clue as to his intentions. "Is this your territory?"

The dark raptor paused, briefly caught off guard.

"Have we met before? I feel we've met before."

Alira jerked her head up at Cirrus's panicked screech, tearing the mother spider in half in the process. She munched her snack as she stared, trying to figure out what she had missed. Her brother had thrown himself to the ground as soon as the tiny spiders had started appearing, squirming and snapping wildly at his own flanks as he tried to get them off of him. The pain hardly registered when, more than once, he misjudged his aim and grazed his own flesh with his fangs.

Chuckling, Savarna stood up and moved to help her younger son, while Devaki and Zuri blinked at the group in mute surprise. Almost apprehensively, the female glanced at her bulging flank. If this was the chaos just three youngsters could create, what would happen when there were hatchlings running around on top of that?

Balen tilted her slender skull, listening to the loud gruffing she sensed was close to where she thinks the carnivore is. 'No matter, whatever is laughing must be too busy to notice a giant crossing their land,' she thought sensibly, being used to her size causing looks from others. She just rumbled, grabbing a massive mouthful of ferns as she walked, barely noticing the gruffing laugh grow louder as she chewed, the sound drowning out most noises as she continued moving forward...

"I don't live here. And if we did meet before then you were one of the few things on the island that didn't try to take my head off. I don't suppose you have a pack with you here," Aircrest replied dryly, doing his best to ignore the raptor's disfigurement. Between the stranger's yelling about it and what he had done to the troodon, he felt a sense of discomfort, but also disregarded that. What he did take care to notice was the reptiles encroaching from the water.

"If we have met, I don't remember.....seems to be my answer to most things these days" hissed Fatalis, shrugging. Hellfire's eyes narrowed, trying to remember, finally shaking his head. "Never seen you before" growled the Deinonychus, as a rasping sound coincided with the dead crocodile being dragged into the river by the tail, a massive pair of jaws clamped shut around its hindquarters...

The dark raptor casually lifted his foot, surrendering the corpse to its fate.

"Pack?" he repeated, using a bloodied claw to scratch his neck in contemplation. "No pack. Had one, a long time ago. Sort've. It's a long story."

The dark raptor tilted his head, examining the trio closely with his single eye. After a moment, he let out a thoughtful "hmph," but said nothing.

"We aren't one, if that's what you're thinking," Aircrest growled. "We're just working for a common goal. Even if it's just an errand. I take it that you don't like mutants too much?" The green raptor pointed his snout towards the bloody trail wafting through the river.

Swallowing the clump of vegetation, she grabbed another mouthful, noticing the tiniest amount of pressure on her back dissapearing, evidence that Argus had woken up with an empty stomach. She grunted in acknowledgement, returning to her meal as she trugded on, pushing aside any tree that stood in her way of the beach. An especially large tree loomed up in front of her head, blocking her way. Rumbling in annoyance, she reared up, her massive feet aimed straight at the woody trunk. With a low hoot she lunged forward, her feet hitting paydirt, slamming the massive trunk downward, but not enough to send it crashing down. She reared up and did it a few more times, finally rewarded with the sound of groaning wood and the concoffony of sounds as the tree fell, a heavy thump following it as she lowered down. Bellowing softly in smugness, she kept going forward, stepping over the tree that basically led a clear passageway to a seemingly empty clearing...

"What's up with him? Doesn't look impressed" hissed Fatalis under his breath. "Surprised? We don't exactly look like much" responded Hellfire quietly, barely resisting a shudder of disgust at the mutant blood that still covered his claws....and most of his companion's extremities...

Aurora eyed the concerned Zuri, slowly regaining her composure, Blade still firmly pressed up against her side. "They can be a headache at times. You'll be fine though. That's what a pack's for. Spread the workload" she growled, seemingly reading her mind, knowing that look well...

"Mutants?" Darkness repeated, focusing both eyes on Aircrest. "Nocturne - that *******! - was a mutant. I lost an eye thanks to mutants."

"Thick-headed, shit-eating pond scum," the dark raptor growled, his tone oddly calm despite his choice of words. While he spoke, he slowly turned his head to stare at Fatalis. "********. Every last one."

"Sorry about your eye, but if you tag along with us you'll get to return the favor to whatever mutants we come across," Aircrest offered. He turned in place and gestured to the balcony overlooking the pool of tainted water, specifically the troodon. "Except Fatalis, the short one over there, that is," he added quickly. "Not until this is all over."

Fatalis tilted his head, either missing the point of Darkness's statement, or asking for justification. Which, even Hellfire couldn't tell. In response to Aircrest's statement, however, the Raptor perked up. "Oi, Airy! Half-mutant here. There's a difference!" hissed Fatalis, seeming to take genuine offence to being referred to as a mutant. Hellfire tilted his head in surprise. He hadn't been certain before, how, exactly Fatalis had come to be what he was, but this did explain a few things; his willingness to help, for one...

The massive herbivore barely stuck out the tip of her nose when Argus flapped his wings rapidly in her face, screeching about danger and death. But she doubted it, giving the pesky archaeopteryx an annoyed look and took another stride, taking her head and a bit of neck out of the trees. She stopped, staring at the scene around her, a shiver of fear washing over her hide...

A thoughtful expression came over the dark raptor. "I have come to collect..." he mused, tapping a claw against his chin. After another moment's thought, he nodded. "Fine, stranger-who-seems-not-so-strange. I will tag along." Darkness looked back at the blood choked water in a dramatic fashion.

"For now."

"Great. Now, how's about we all get the hell out of this swamp before that big one in the water decides it's still not full?" Aircrest barked, looking back at the others. He wanted to put more thought to the destruction of the pool here, but he knew-- at least in the case of Hellfire and Fatalis-- that the others wanted to get to a more uplifting locale. And for good reason, being in the swamp with open wounds was practically a death sentence, from infection to parasites.

"I thought you'd never suggest it" hissed Hellfire in a typically flat tone, walking towards the way they came. "Wrong way" hissed Fatalis. "What do you mean? That's the way to Crusher's territo-" started Hellfire, before Fatalis interrupted "Yes, but that's the long way out of the swamp. There are faster ways". "Oh? Lead on then, oh navigator of ours" hissed the Deinonychus sarcastically. "Certainly!" barked the Velociraptor with a smirk as he walked in the completely opposite direction...towards where Thrasher had gone. "Woah woah woah, hold it. Thrasher's that way" growled the Deinonychus. "Not exactly. He turned a bit on the way out" responded the Raptor...

"As long as no one decides to mess with him, he's none of our concern. I'm going to have to figure out how to kill him because our giant friend decided he couldn't go through with it," Aircrest hissed to them as he followed, glad for the break in leadership.

"Crusher?" Darkness barked abruptly, slowing to a halt; he had just started to follow their lead when he recognized the name. For the briefest of moments, a strange lucidity entered the dark raptor's gaze - though it did not last long. "Never heard of him! Never heard of no friend-abandoning, fat, angry son of a-" he snarled in a sudden surge of fury, before abruptly curbing himself. "...Nope. Never heard of him."

The large sauropod couldn't believe her eyes: a family of allosaurs, which seemed to not heard her, somehow. She stepped a bit farther out, basically on the tips of her elephantine feet, almost tiptoeing across the small open space in the forest. 'Please don't let them hear me, please no,' she thought, glancing at the group, counting at least 4-5 in all, maybe more. She took another light step, one of her front feet touching down on something sharp, probably a rock, sending a bolt of pain up her leg and into her skull. Stifling a bellow, she stomped down her poked foot down close to the object, shaking the ground around her. Sensing that it was best to move away quickly, she picked up her pace, disappearing into the tree line, leaving a trail of shoved trees in her wake.

"You've got a few standing problems with the Rex too, huh? Glad to see I'm not the only one," Aircrest thought with biting humor.
