As the signal struck, the Ezdelera activated failsafes, the ship's speed slowing to safer limits as anti-gravity generators activated, preventing any catastrophic damage from occuring should the signal interfere with propulsion systems...

"Yeah" grunted Khuurava irritably, his head still throbbing from the sound as he began to move the Scorpio towards the digsite...the Ezdelera would reach them in approximately ten minutes...a fair amount of time to investigate...assuming the site wasn't huge...

Kharss looked at Anto and Kenn as they entered the VIP Lounge. "Luck?" he asked simply as he worked on a datapad in his hand...

As Salamance was hiding at the side of the wall he was caught by the robots and taken prisoner. So he decided to send a Distress signal that was that called 4 planets nearby. He did not know what planets but he hoped that someone would help.

"Kenn found a signal lock," Anto growled. "The Ninmah Cluster. Nothing there, so it'd be the perfect place for synthetics to hide."

Arrak stayed silent after that, rubbing his own sore head. Whatever the hell that was, it wasn't your average jamming signal...

Fortunately, the dig site wasn't very big at all. After a short drive through relatively rocky terrain caused by the dug-up earth, the Scorpio approached a small structure, unusual in design, surrounded by several prefabricated bunkers, likely for the scientists to stay in. The alien structure, however, drew the most attention, made of several curved spires that arched to meet overhead, like a protective casing. In the sunken platform between the arches was a small computer console, its holographic screen glowing green...

As they arrived, the Scorpio slowed to a halt, Khuurava leaping out of the hatch, weapon in hand as he began investigating, checking first the buildings surrounding the alien structure, to ensure there were no hidden Geth or other threats, before shifting his focus to the Alien device. "Any idea what race this belongs to?" he asked as he walked up to it...

"Definitely Prothean," Arrak said, sweeping his gun across the structure, watching for threats. "Can't believe they actually found something that old and advanced down here. No wonder they kept it hush-hush." He paused, hearing the quiet scrape of metal on metal from the other side of the structure. "The hell..." he whispered, creeping towards the other side of the Prothean arches, ignoring the console for the moment...

The terminal was practically dissected by the Seeker, who littered the scaffold with panels and screens. Wires hung limply where metal once encased them with Ecliptor directly linking himself into the communication system. From the uplink Ecliptor took command of the facility, using it as an amplifier and remotely calling his ship. In addition, he copied documents and logs that the marines had across their mainframe for further investigation.

Cutting his connection to the system, Ecliptor then proceeded to gathering the resources he could find, hauling the marine outside and then stockpiling the discarded Geth weapons scattered around the facility. Another organic would advance Seeker understanding. The defeated Geth units offered salvageable parts and scrap metal, and their guns would expand the armory of "Home"

Khuurava turned to the source, raising his assault rifle to his shoulder, ready to tear apart whatever it was...

Arrak cautiously slid around the rearmost arch, and saw the source of the sound. At least two dozen metal spikes, each several meters tall and standing on tripods, stood in the small clearing behind the Prothean structure. Impaled on each was a human body--or what used to be humans, anyway. The corpses were desiccated, with blue lights and wiring covering their bodies. One of the spikes had retracted, and the body appeared to have fallen off the spike, and Arrak stared at the scene curiously. "Spirits..." he muttered, incapable of saying anything else...

Khuurava walked over, staring at the thing that had gained Arrak's attention, somewhat shocked. "How the...?" he muttered, unable to finish his question, having trouble comprehending how this could possibly have once been a human being...the fibre-optic wiring running through their bodies seemed too...intricate for it to have been done on an already complete body. It was as though the body was built around the wiring...and yet, it was obvious that this wasn't something entirely artificial...the scent of death, the dessication in the corpse's appearance...this was once a living being....but what was it now?

Suddenly, the once-dead thing twitched, its hands, clawed and inhuman, grasping at nothing as it sluggishly rose back up, snarling bestially at the two mercs. As if on cue, the rest of the spikes began to lower, releasing their foul cargo. The corpses rose from the ground like zombies, jogging towards the mercs with no fear of their superior weaponry. Cursing, Arrak opened fire on the closest one, the Phaeston's rounds tearing through its body with ease and knocking it to the ground. Yet they still kept moving forward, ignorant of their dead comrade, feeling no pain as Arrak raked them with assault rifle fire...

The scout ship landed nearby to its pilot, its triple pointed forward end facing the building. After landing on the many points, the craft began to ease itself lower to the ground, the insectoid legs angling themselves steeply. A hiss was released from the ship once it was in position and the forward end split apart. Folding outwards, the three pieces allowed a ramp to extend and lower to the ground, Ecliptor then hauling his findings into the small storage area of the craft. The ramp retracted behind him, the door closed and the ship's engine whirred back to life. Lifting off from the ground and tilting upwards to the sky, the legs slid back into the ship, a cloud of dust being blown in all directions...

As they closed in, Khuurava kicked forward, launching one of them into the others, knocking several back as he swung an arm out to the side, knocking Arrak back several feet, the Khurakra himself leaping back as he fired a vitriolic grenade into the midst of the horde, the explosion engulfing most of them, the grenade's acidic payload destroying flesh and wiring alike...

The last few Husks swarmed through the explosion, one of which leaped on Khuurava, swinging at him with strength far beyond an average human...

Khuurava snarled as he leaned back, evading the swing as he arced his back, kicking the abomination upwards as he flipped onto his hands, leaping back onto his feet with little hindrance as he shot the fallen husk apart with his assault rifle, continuing on the others...

One of the last Husks ran straight at Arrak, who simply lunged forward, swinging outward with a pair of omni-blades, effectively bisecting the creature, spilling its blackish-blue ichor across the ground. As the last Husk fell, Arrak shook his head, reloading his rifle. "Since when do the Geth use psychological warfare like that?"

With the ship out of Ontarom's magnetically unstable atmosphere, Ecliptor made the adjustments to its heading so that it was aligned with the mass relay those several hundreds of miles away. The ship's drive was a brilliant flash in the sky above the planet and in moments it shot across the distance, slowing down dramatically as it closed in on the relay. He inputted the ship's information and the gigantic construct made its own alignment, the rings around its core accelerating in their spin. The scout ship was drawn into the Mass Relay and then propelled through the cosmos on its way back "Home"

A youngling walked into a lab, eyeing the scientists that were at work inside. The Spawn clicked as it sniffed some of the beakers on the table, one having a lid sealing it shut and being labeled with an odd creature, which had two wings and a large pair of ears. What was this substance? Was it some sort of drink? Another creature's blood, perhaps? The youngling's curiosity overwhelmed its common sense. The alien's talon stabbed into the cork-like lid of the beaker, pulling it off as the creature began to lap the liquid from the beaker. Unable to get an actual drink, the youngling knocked the plastic beaker onto the floor with a dull clack. The liquid spilled form the container and onto the floor, easily giving the Spawn a chance to drink to its fill...

Charles shot at the door, hearing a loud scree when he fired. He had killed a Spawn at the door, and he could see through the bullet hole in the door that he had got the kill, the now dead Spawn leaning against the door...
