Space E-war Reloaded

Postby TyrannoTitan » Wed Mar 28, 2012 2:42 am

Profiles for the E-war are to be posted in the Space E-war Profiles subsection. Refer to this topic for information about the section.

Setting:
The Milky Way Galaxy, minus Sol (our solar system). Some plots further down the road can involve other galaxies, but for the moment, the E-war is restricted to only this one. The actual size of the galaxy is not set in stone, to accommodate an ever-increasing number of factions. This applies to the number of star systems as well.

Also it should be noted that lasers go pew pew in space in this E-war.

Magic:
Magic is possible, but limited. A species, such as alien dragons from Planet X, can be able to cast fireballs or other such things, but are unable to make entire volcanos or earthquakes. The Force, of Star Wars fame, is considered magic. Most Force use is possible by appropriate individuals, as long as it is not seen as overpowered.

Metals/Minerals/Etc:
The only restriction here is: there is no end-all beat-all of the above. Different factions can have different metals and the like, ones stronger than others, but there must be checks and balances to all of them. Extremely durable armor cannot be fitting on a machine designed to move fast and be agile with no ill effects, and so on. Blades and other personal melee weapons can be made of material designed to resist weapons such as light sabers, so people do not have to replace character-rooted swords, but this is the only exception.

Teleportation:
Teleportation is not impossible in the RPG, but is very limited. It is extremely high tech, only accessible by extremely advanced races. Teleportation is only possible by having an entrance and exit gate, and these gates must be larger than the object they are transporting. This is to prevent the teleportation of things like entire stars into enemy planets.

Rules:

1
) Killing another's character is possible in the E-war, but must make sense. Its generally considered a **** move, though.
2 ) No single sentence posts unless fitting for the situation (IE a conversation).
3 ) No power playing. This means that in a character duel, you cannot strike down your opponent in the first few posts for no particular reason. If a situation involves unfair odds, you can end a fight quickly if your opponent does not flee (IE a 40 foot tall mech encounters a medic who tries to fight it with a pistol). This includes pulling equipment or reinforcements out of no where, without any indication that it existed before its introduction.
4 ) You can kill things, a lot of things, and have genocidal races. But you cannot destroy an entire planet in a single post via invasion. It must make sense.
5 ) There are no galactic superpowers at the start of the E-war. All factions start around the same size or less. Nothing absolutely huge from the get-go.
6 ) All levels of technology are available, but they must not be overpowered. You can make up your own technology, but it can't be unbeatable.
7 ) Titles and ranks exist either as cosmetic or only functioning in an individual faction. IE you cannot be Emperor of the Galaxy, or Ruler of Hell, or something equally stupid.
8 ) Common races like humans do not need species profiles, but need faction ones. You don't need planet profiles for every planet your faction owns, only notable ones, like homeworlds.
9 ) People cannot invent physics to suit their needs. Obviously, in an E-war about space and aliens and giant machines, liberty in this area is a must. Just because something works in Star Wars does not mean it works in this E-war, as is the case with all types of sci-fi media.

Templates:
NOTE: Profiles are as descriptive as the author wants. Only those entries not marked optional are absolutely required. You may add appropriate sections to the profiles if you wish. An example of this would be length/height entries for the character profile, instead of keeping it in 'description'.

Planet/Space Station

Native Name: (What the dominant species calls it.)
Environment: (Lots of water, completely desert, varied climates, etc.)
Regions: (Different areas on the planet.)
Dominant Species: (Rulers of the planet.)
Technology Level: (How technologically advanced the general population is. Can include description of defenses.)
Animal Life: (Self explanatory.)

Species

Name:
Description: (Appearance, in other words.)
Diet: (Carnivore, herbivore, omnivore, rock-eater, gas...breather?)
Armament: (Optional depending on the type of species. If these are your soldiers or the like, describe what they are typically equipped with here.)
Natural Abilities: (Special traits and the like, something found in every [or nearly] member of the species.)
History: (Somewhat optional.)

Faction

Name:
Leading Body: (Leader or council or Queen, whoever or whatever runs the faction, if any.)
Capital: (This is optional for space-faring civilizations, and can include space stations. Their primary place of habitation.)
Technology Level: (Can be different from the planet profile, so its necessary, even if you are restating things.)
Inhabitants: (List of species/beings/whatever than inhabit the faction.)
Philosophy: (How the faction acts, what they think, what their beliefs are, how they justify their existence. Are they generally peaceful, or war-mongering nomads?)
History: (Mostly optional.)

Character

Name:
Rank/Title: (Can be "none".)
Gender:
Species: (Can be a member of another player's species if they are ok with it.)
Description: (Can include length/height measurements.)
Unique Traits: (What makes this character unique, can include training.)
Tech: (Equipment included.)
Homeworld:
Bio: (History, personality, and so forth. Level of descriptiveness is up to the author.)

Technology
NOTE: This entry is entirely optional. It gives people a template for technology if they wish to describe it in-depth. If your character is a machine, it should still be in a character profile. Technology profile is mostly for vehicles, robot soldiers, and the like. If the main "species" of a planet is a race of robots, they should get a species profile, rather than a technology profile.

Name:
Description: (Can include actual measurements.)
Technology: (Radar, cloaking system, anything of the sort.)
Weapons: (Can be "none".)
Overview: (Optional history, significant traits, and other miscellaneous information.)

In the darkness of space, a seemingly lifeless vessel drifted through the void. Although its engines still powered it along, no other emissions were detectable. It looked like a standard freighter of an unknown species, with numerous holes and other damage spread across its body. To most, it looked like a derelict ship, whose pilots were killed before they had time to alter their current route. Who knows how long the freighter would drift, forgotten in the void.

The total black and silence was broken in an instant. The soft, internal whirring of components preceded the spreading of the metal iris, the single, large green eye and the several inactive ones surrounding it lighting up. Three toed metal feet on the ground, the Seeker stood for the first time in his "life". His name was Ecliptor, but it was a name he would hardly hear, if ever in his time with his fellow mechanical kind. But that meant nothing, in fact it did not cross his mind- or, rather, the collective archive that was shared by all Seekers. He was apart of the hive consciousness in the nanoseconds after the spark of sentience blessed his blue and gray metal body. In the span of a minute, the newly created machine understood existence when just a flash ago he was nothing but parts to be assembled...

"Welcome to home," a disembodied voice greeted the newly assembled Seeker. "Get out," it continued, the Seeker being propelled from the assembly system, which promptly folded up and retracted beneath the metallic floor of the space station. The assembly bay was extremely plain and smooth, and no other beings, organic or otherwise, were visible inside. The Seeker's collective intelligence, however, would explain that most of the station's inhabitants were elsewhere.

Without any other instruction, Ecliptor knew what his overarching directive was: to gain knowledge. One goal stood beside this directive in terms of priority: observe and emulate organic behavior for the advancement of Seeker kind. "This one requests data on studying organics" thought Ecliptor as he walked away from the assembly bay, accessing the bounty of information the collective offered...

A flood of information was at the Seeker's disposal, though most of it was observational data, rather than methods and tactics on the study of organics itself. The most relevant piece of information seemed to be: "Watch them and do as they do."

"This one is satisfied with data retrieval. Must add more to archives" Ecliptor responded. He then adjusted his course through the dull silver hallways of "Home", which were strangely empty, to the congregation of the other Seekers aboard the station...

The armory was a considerable distance from the assembly bay, where a few Seekers were equipping themselves with various objects, some functional, some decorative. The primary launch bays were sparsely populated as well, as Seekers maintained both the bay itself and the ships that rest within it. Towards the center of the station was the "recreation sector", which included things like organic food and beds, none of which the Seekers actually needed. A number of Seekers were there at the time, practicing their organic behavior.

After the long walk to the Recreation Center- the time being of no concern to the Seeker- Ecliptor took in the unsurprisingly familiar sights of beds and food stands packed with all sorts of alien foods. "Requesting data on subject matter: consumables" Ecliptor thought, awaiting the collective's response.

On a far off planet, deep in the heart of a far off solar system, rested a desert planet. Golden sand was blasted across a windswept land. The place was drier than one can possibly imagine, and the sun went down, only for the extreme heat and driness to be replaced by nightmarish cold. Few creatures were visible on the surface; only small mammalian animals, some reptiles, and insects could survive in this intense land. But, rising out from one of the few temperate places left on this hellhole of a planet, stood the venerable city, The Crimson Stronghold. Here, The Zorgulons have thrived for millenia, and it seems things weren't about to change. This main homeland held the largest population of these curious beings on the whole planet, and largest concentration in the entire Coalition. Today, Cerebulon was giving one of his now infamous speeches.

"Today, we shall march out once more," The Overlord of Haudspes bellowed. "And conquer anyone who stands in our way! The Zorgulon Coalition will not be denied the power that is rightfully theirs! None are superior or even equal to us! Destroy them all!"

A cheer erupted from the crowd, as Cerebulon chuckled low to himself. These simpletons were always so easy to manipulate...

Consumption was an organic's way of acquiring energy. Without liquid and edible solids, most organics would die. As Ecliptor entered the recreation center, another Seeker, which was a bright yellow in color with various magnets depicting fanciful creatures straight out of a children's story book adhered to his head and neck, turned to greet him. "This one greets the newcomer," it stated, making bizarre hand movements after it spoke. The communication was purely formal, as with a collective intelligence, the two could contact eachother without a word from across the station in a heartbeat.

"This one returns the greeting to that one" Ecliptor replied, gesturing to the colorful Seeker with his three-clawed hands. "This one wonders what that one's task is at the moment"

"This one is conversing with this one's peers," the other Seeker responded, ceasing its strange movements, which seemed to be some type of greeting.

"This one is intrigued by that one's words. What is that one discussing?" Ecliptor asked, turning his green eye to a cluster of his fellow robots just a few feet to his right.

Ecliptor made a curious sounding electronic hum, one of his hands spinning around on its wrist as he did and making a mechanical whir. "How did that one acquire its bounty?" asked the blue and gray Seeker; looking back over to the yellow plated one.

"On acquisition 2-45-1," the yellow Seeker explained, as a detailed log of the incident was given to Ecliptor in an instant. "This one found these artifacts before this one's squad. Therefore, the treasure belongs to this one."

"That one has been quite fortunate. When can this one partake in such activity?" Ecliptor asked, making the bizarre gestures the yellow Seeker greeted him with with the inclusion of his spinning hands to show his eagerness.

"That one must be properly equipped at the armory. That one may then accompany one of the acquisition vessels out on a voyage," the yellow Seeker explained, just as one of the other Seekers, a dark purple and black in color, approached. "This one acquired combustion technology on 2-45-1," it stated, its voice significantly deeper than the other two. Raising its arm, the Seeker showed them a sleek weapon integrated directly with its arm, resembling a traditional grenade launcher, but with glowing red energy inside.

"That one is lacking an arm" Ecliptor stated to his yellow comrade. "How does that one use the energy?" he asked, channeling power into his palms while his hands continued to spin, his spread fingers seeming to contain the almost electrical essence as it shaped itself into a blue and white orb...
