The mercenary growled menacingly at Persephone, "If poachers came here, they's get slaughtered; not only that, but if any of them survived, they'll spill all the information on this place! Do you really want knowledge like that getting out? Then we'll all be really screwed, with these monsters running around all over the place!" Max had pretty much lost his cool by this point. Was she mad?! Did she really, trully believe what she was saying? If she did, then Maxwell wondered what this mad woman's realt intentions were....

Rick spoke up to, saying "let's worry about getting to the outpost more than arguing about what happens to the dinosaurs." It didn't matter to him if the dinosaurs were killed in a bombing of the island or not. All he wanted was to get off this island before ending up as a predator's food...

Persephone chuckled again, brushing off Max's comments with her hand. " Can't take a simply joke, can you?" She snorted, trying to prevent herself from bursting into complete laughter, before she managed to regain herself, her voice turning back to it's usual self. " I don't want ot see anyone else get mowed down here, and I certainly don't wan tto see any Titanoceratops or Tyrannotitans being used as war weapons against other countries... Bombing the dinos to hell and back is the best option... and right now, let's focus on getting to the outpost, like Rick said." Persephone calmly replied. It was all she could say to get Max and anyone else off her case... even if she believed otherwise...

Maxwell nods to both Rick and Persephone. They were right- they had better things to focus on than IF they get off this island. Loading up his shotgun and his S&W, Maxwell awaited Barnes' command to continue onward.

"Alright, lock it down, all of you" Barnes growled. "This isn't up for philosophical discussion. Go take some debate classes or something when we get home. For now, stay focused on the matter at hand, and you won't wind up as dino chow." Jenkins muttered darkly under his breath and moved away from the main group, staying up ahead of them a bit as they continued onward...

Hiero simply followed having not joined the discussion, in his mind however He had thought a great deal over the matter. He agreed for the sake of everyone that these creatures be exterminated, at one time mammals were at the bottom of their food chain it wouldn't be any different, especially when turned into giant living weapons. They diddn't know this was millions of years later, that they were a bygone species brought back by humans and even if they did they wouldn't care. Simply put these creatures lived during their time and belonged back in the ground as bones, or they would reclaim the world as their own.

The trees finally yielded, revealing a large plain before the mercs. Other than a few Thescelosaurus grazing amongst the grass, there was no sign of life. Upon spotting the humans, the ornithopods chattered at each other, before skittering off, keeping their distance. Off in the distance was the telltale silhouette of some sort of large, prefabricated structure. Jenkins pointed towards it. "That's the outpost. It used to have a garrison of around 50 soldiers, so there should be something we can use there." Barnes nodded. "We might be able to find some ammunition and, if we're lucky, a working radio. Come on, let's keep moving. Watch the trees. We don't want to get ambushed by whatever carnivorous freaks live around here..."

Naturally, there were indeed a few predators about, moving silently in the thicker foliage near the edge of the forest. They had been planning on nabbing a Thescelosaurus, but the humans' timely arrival would mean a change of plans...

Hiero unslung his rifle and held it pointing to the ground, he kept the safety on but his thumb hovered over for a moments notice swap. He kept pace with the group noticing how the small creatures had run off he wasn't concerned of them but no less wary.

Rick's Carbine was in his hand as he watched the surrounding foliage carefully. The dinosaurs that had scattered away upon seeing the group clearly weren't herbivores that would act aggressively. However, there were no doubt some carnivores they hadn't seen yet that lived in this area...

The softest rasping breath was all that gave away any one member of the pack's location. Their dappled brown plumage broke up their outlines against the brush. A set of intelligent, calculating eyes peered down a rounded, blunt muzzle. Swift glances, barely perceptible eye motion, assured each other that they were together in this. Setting each clawed foot down so gently the leaves and foliage underfoot flattened but didn't crackle, the birdlike predators drew closer with each careful, silent step. A little luck, and they'd be on top of their quarry before they were noticed...and by then, it would be much too late.

Crossbow in hand, Persephone remained sharp and alert. The mercenary scanned the area, and though she saw no predators, she could feel the hairs in the back of her nack standing on end. It was a sensation that she didn't like in the slightest, and one that meant she was being watched... If she stayed as close as she could with the rest of the mercs...

Max kept his shotgun trained across the trees and foilage, knowing the others can cover the sides he's not looking at. Knowing how their luck had been so far, raptors- or perhaps something even worse- lurked nearby, waiting to ambush them. Thankfully, he had enough ammo on him to reload a few more times, and, of course, there was still that outpost to load up on rounds. But to focus on the task at hand... he prayed that nothing would kill another hapless merc any time soon...

One of the stalkers hung back near the rear of the group, his blood-red feathers making him harder to hide in the forest. He let out a quiet, chittering hiss, signalling the lead female to move up to the treeline and scope out their potential prey more effectively...

"Yeah. looks like it's artificial. move in for a closer look. I'll cover us" said Jacob as he readjusted his gear and wiped off his blade of the blood to protect it from corrosion, making use of the brief few seconds as they closed in on the object, soon gripping the machine gun once more, ready for an attempted attack...

David brought the Humdinga to a stop by the strange object hidden in a patch of low lying, broad leaved plants. It was lodged in the mud and soaked in a puddle of dark brown water. Cautiously, David reached out for the shape, feeling it for a few seconds at first to identify what it was. It felt tough and leathery, so he plucked it from the mud and held the dripping bag for both Jacob and himself to see. "I recognize this. One of the kiddies must've dropped it before" David commented, chuckling.

The alpha female stalked forward, flexing wickedly curved claws. Her golden eyes flashed with hate as she scanned the group of humans, searching out the ones who had wounded and nearly killed her mate. Carefully, with a slow, deliberate movement, she brushed aside a fern frond aside to better see their targets. Amber irises gleamed as she spotted them, and she let out a soft growl, anger and satisfaction mixed in the sound. They would need to be careful....but perhaps, if they were cautious enough, they could pick off a straggler or two before going for their prime target. She turned to the rest of the pack and gave a short jerk of the head, encouraging half of them to come with her and circle around, while the rest came at the humans from the other side. They'd close off the escape routes, and give these two-legged creatures another dose of hell.

As the mercs continued, the grass seemed to get taller, and Barnes cursed silently. Not only did that reduce mobility, but visibility as well. They could still see the outpost in the distance, but the waist-high grass meant that an ambush was likely. Rustling grass could be either simple wind, or impending doom...

The alpha male took the remainder of the pack in the opposite direction, intending on assaulting the humans from the rear, where they were most vulnerable. If they moved slowly and cautiously, they could get right on top of their prey without ever being noticed...

The high grass was a welcome advantage. with their stocky bodies held low, torsos parallel to the ground, the raptors were as close to invisible as they could get. Step by careful step, the predators closed the gap. None of them made a sound now. To do so was to betray their location and their presence. Tensed leg muscles twitched in anticipation of the kill. If they could catch their prey off-guard, it would be as easy as snatching an unguarded sleeping hatchling from its nest....

Rick kept his finger close to the trigger of his Carbine, listening for any sounds that might reveal the location of something hiding in the high grass. This location was actually worse than the mongrove swamp, where there had at least been cover afforded by the roots of the trees. Here, the team's mobility was reduced and if something decided to attack, there wasn't going to be anything to hide in...
