Suddenly the shrubs and trees cleared out, the flowing water from the stream coming into view. Snowstar began walking faster, Mudswirl running past him, followed by Riverstone...

Lightstorm picked up the pace as well, his ears pricking. Hawkclaw ran lightly at his shoulder.

When Snowstar reached the stream's edge, he saw Riverstone and Mudswirl peering into the water, trying to see past their reflection to the fish just beyond the surface. Mudswirl raised a paw, holding it over the water, as if she was ready to lash out at the first thing that she saw. Snowstar chuckled as he waited for Lightstorm and Hawkclaw...

"Don't slip," Lightstorm purred, seeing his sisters on the stream bank. He swept his tail over Hawkclaw's back and gently nudged her forward.

[C S]

"Now then.." Snowstar mewed seeing that his daughters and son had reached the bank. "The best way to lure a fish is to tap on the water softly... try to make the noise of an insect hitting the water" Mudswirl, with her eyes fixed on the water, began tapping the surface of the water rappidly before retracting, waiting for something to come up. Riverstone did the same thing, who thought she'd finally know why she was named Riverstone...

Hawkclaw, who was standing in the shadow of a tree, delicately extended one white paw and gave the water a quick dab. Lightstorm sat beside Hawkclaw, watching his sisters. He learned best by watching and then imitating, and building off of what he saw.

Renny trotted down the incline, mewing, "Well don't just stand there! It's time for a drink!"

Snowstar mewed "Not so much you two!" He always knew Riverstone and Mudswirl as enthusiastic and when they were together, they tended to go off on their own... which is why he wasnt suprised when he heard of Mudswirl interupting Wraith the night before. "Take a look at Hawkclaw..she's a natrual!" He mewed. He watched the water as a dark shape appeared just where Hawkclaw had been tapping... he wanted to see if she'd act without him telling her what to do...

Insolitus sighed and followed Renny, wondering if this was a good idea. "Are you sure you want to do this?" he meowed as they approached the pool. It looked deep, but not so deep a cat couldn't get out if he fell in.

Hawkclaw blinked, surprised. Then she flashed out a paw as quick as she could and felt her claws connect with something slippery. Trying not to give the fish an opportunity to get away, she swiped it towards the bank. She trapped it against a clump of reeds, where it squirmed violently. It was harder to get a grip on it than she expected and she struggled with getting it out of the water.

"I don't see why not," replied Renny. "What, is there something bad about this place?"

[Hopeflower]

"I don't think so," Insolitus meowed. "I'm just making sure you're sure."

[dinoman666]

"All I know is what you told me," Renny retorted, slowing to a stop at the edge of the Moonpool.

[C S]

"Get your mouth on it!" Snowstar mewed. His ears pricked at the sound of another splash, Mudswirl smacking a fish from the water against the bank, where she slammed her claws on its side and raked it up the small slope from the water to her mouth...

"And I know next to nothing about this place," Insolitus shot back as he crouched down. Warily, he scented the air. "It smells okay..." He lapped a few drops of the water and gasped. It was freezing cold!

Hawkclaw obeyed her father's command, leaning down and biting the fish behind the head. Its strange taste surprised her as she stood up with her prize. Lightstorm let out a purr. "Well done," he meowed, both to Hawkclaw and to Mudswirl.

[C S]

Snowstar smiled and mewed "Yes- but, be sure to take the scales off before you eat it, and be mindful of the bones! They could hurt your tongue if your not careful." Just then, Riverstone dipped her head into the water, pulling out a split second later with a fish of her own flopping in her jaws. She turned to Lightstorm, Hawkclaw, Mudswirl and Snowstar with a grin.

Renny eyed Insolitus curiously, before tentatively lapping at the water himself, shaking his head vigorously at the cold. "Whew! Is it that cold already?"

"Even the stream wasn't that cold." Insolitus found his head lowering until his nose was resting on his paws. His eyes closed involuntarily as the chill spread through him until he felt like a cat made of ice. Without knowing it, he sighed and fell into a deep sleep.

Lightstorm meowed his congratulations, while Hawkclaw dropped her fish and started sniffing it, wondering how exactly to take the scales off the fish.

Snowstar walked over to Hawkclaw's fish, claws unsheathed. He slipped them inbetween gaps in the hard skin and then pulled back, revealing the bright pinkish meat underneath. "Now you try" He mewed to the brown tabby, Mudswirl and Riverstone doing the same to their fish...

Hawkclaw nodded and imitated her father, repeating the movement until one side of the fish was stripped of its scales. She turned it over with her paw and took the scales off the other side as well. Then she bent over it and took a tentative bite. "It's good," she meowed, somewhat surprised.

Renny was in the middle of laying down as well, yawning involuntarily. If he was aware of Insolitus, he made no point of showing it, instead falling into a deep sleep himself...
