Nightbane eyed the two, considering what they were saying. "Redclaw, listen. I know you want him dead. I know you've suffered. I know what it's like to want to kill someone whose hurt you so much. But taking on a fully grown lion when he's at the height of his strength is suicide. I can't let you do that. I promise you, you will get to kill him. you'll get to torture him to death and no one will stop you. but unless he's weakened to the point he's as helpless to stop you as you were to stop him, you won't get your revenge in full. That is why i'm here to help. I'll cripple him. I'll make sure he's in no condition to fight back. and then...you can pay him back for the pain your entire family suffered at his claws....with interest" rumbled Nightbane as he eyed her, smiling...

Thank you, Whitetip thought, sending Nightbane a grateful glance.

"Nightbane, please, I don't want to see you or White Tip get hurt by Manderius. That pest has already caused enough suffering to me and White Tip. If he injures or even kills one of you two, my suffering will just worsen, even if he gets killed. Just, let me take him by myself, Nightbane, please," grunted Red Claw, trying to reason with the two. She still knew it was hopeless fighting against him, but she just wanted to be sure Nightbane and White Tip wouldn't get injured or killed at the claws of that parisitic beast.

"And you think that everything will be okay with us if you die?" Whitetip's voice cracked with pain.

Nightbane shook his head. "Redclaw, just consider your most recent troubles. snake bite. a blow from a rhino to the flank that knocked you out, and an obvious bruise where that was. the pain of it will likely hamper your fighting. in addition to that, i'm larger, stronger and have likely been fighting for my life for longer than you have. Do you think i'd forgive myself if i stood down and let you, a friend i'm prepared to put my neck on the line for, go against an enemy that's so powerful you doubt i can take him on?" growled Nightbane as he gave Redclaw a serious, piercing look. the gaze alone was enough to say he wasn't going to back down from this...

"No I don't. I also don't think anything will be okay if one of you die. Can't you just accept that I want the two of you too live?" growled Red Claw, looking at her sister, starting to see a tear shed from her left eye. She knew White Tip was becoming saddened over the fact that she could lose her sister, but Red Claw wanted what was left of her family to live and for Nightbane to live aswell. As the trio continued to argue over what Red Claw was thinking, a small rat came scampering by, and suddenly got caught by a scorpion hiding under a large rock. "And Nightbane, you most likely can take him on, but I don't think I can bare to see one of you get injured or die," Red Claw added on.

"We're in this together, you stubborn..." Whitetip sniffed and looked away, rubbing the back of her paw across her left cheek, refusing to let herself start throwing insults because she was upset. "I won't let you do this. In fact, as Nightbane said, you're injured. I don't think you should fight at all. Stay away from the fighting until Nightbane brings Manderius down."

"An injury to me is just another battlescar. it'll heal with time and in the end other lions will look at it and fear me because of it. You and your sister both have too much to lose to go after a fully grown male lion, much less a fully grown male lion who wiped out your entire family. Let me fight him. I promise you you won't regret it" growled Nightbane firmly....

"Listen Nightbane, he's been through a lot of battles against other males, some tending to be stronger and larger than him, yet he killed almost all of them, and drove off the rest. He's lived through all of that, and is still healthy and well. There is a chance you could take him on, but there is also a chance you could die, and I wouldn't want to let you or anyone else I have met be killed by Manderius, with the exception of Redtail. Nightbane, you could have a better chance in killing him if I take him on first," growled Red Claw, willing to risk her life for any living thing she knew, mostly her sister and Nightbane. "If one of you die, it'll just worsen our lifes, if I die, it will do the same, but atleast the two of you can have a future, I don't need one in the first place, my life is nothing but misery now, but some of that misery is gone since I know some of my family is alive."

Nightbane let out an angered snarl. "Your life is nothing but misery because you let your losses take over your life. If i must, i'll knock you out and go alone. but i am NOT letting you charge into death under the impression that you have nothing to live for. You're too important to us." growled the lion, a hint of sadness in his tone...what was this he was feeling? could it be...? he pushed the thought aside for now. he needed his wits about him to convince the lioness. " I'll take out Manderius, and after that, I'll help you live a better life. That, i promise you" he added finally, giving a light smile...

"He'll kill you without batting an eye, and then Nightbane will still have to fight him," Whitetip growled. "Stop talking like this and listen to us, Red. Nightbane's plan is the best one we've got."

"Ok, Nightbane, I'll let you take him on. I'll never survive anyways. But your both too important for me to let you to do die, that's the reason why I offered to go after him first. If I'm that important to you though, I won't stop you from attacking him," growled Red Claw, somewhat saddened from her decision. She knew she was going to regret allowing Nightbane to go after Manderius. A small tear slowly raced out of Red's eye, knowing that Nightbane could possibly die from fighting Manderius.

Whitetip got up and padded over to her sister, giving her an affectionate nuzzle. "It'll work out...you'll see." She licked away the tears that had started to fall, her relief tempered by the pain of seeing Redclaw like this.

RotBeak blinked and sniffed as much of a sniff a vulture could, for once in his scavenging life he felt sadness towards another creature and murmured to himself "At least she has a family member and an obvious future mate to keep her company" but the vulture grew silent again as a raging urge to help the lionness as much as he could.

Nightbane smiled as he heard Redclaw finally relent. "Manderius may have experience. but after that much time, there's no chance he'll be as strong as he was. he'll be slower than you remember him. that will be my advantage. I have no intention of letting an old rotten hearted bag of fleas do me in" growled the lion jokingly, trying to lighten Redclaw's mood...

"I hope it does," growled Red Claw, scolding herself for allowing Nightbane to battle Manderius. She was still saddened, knowing that Nightbane could be killed by that pest that has terrorized and killed many of the animals living up north. "Yeah, he could be older and weaker now, so you still got a better chance against him," Red continued.

[The Kingpin]

"Cheer up, Red" growled Nightbane with a smile as he walked over to the lioness, sitting down and putting one massive paw over her own. "There's no point in acting miserable about it. One way or another someone's gotta fight him. I have the best chances out of the three of us. and i have a few tricks in mind for him. drives older males crazy" he growled with a chuckle...

As Titanis finished drinking at the river's edge, he once again looked to his left and right across the river. Still no sign of crocodiles... good. He smelled lots of prey on the other side, so he leapt into the river and began to swim. Normally, he would have waited until some poor herd tried to cross the river, but right now, he was in a risky mood...

"Like what?" Red Claw grunted, starting to cheer up. She was starting to have faith in Nightbane, not because he had was stronger and younger than Manderius, but because he was smarter than that lumbering beast.

"Flanking him" growled Nightbane. "I'll act evasive at first. it'll infuriate him, being older, being the defender and not being in the mood for an invader. he'll be irritable. so me not going into a full on fight, evading his blows and movements, will madden him to no end" he rumbled. "That, in turn, will make him take risks to end it quickly, before he gets too tired to fight. those risks will open up holes in his defense. and that, is when i strike. when he finds himself getting hurt, he will try and move back to a more defensive tactic. but in order to maintain the defense AND end it quickly, he will have to do what he was doing to start with. he will eventually tire himself out. after that...he'll be practically helpless. he'll be too tired to match my speed, and too hurt to keep going for long. so that'll just open several more holes in his defense, until he finally falls" he explained finally...
