[The Kingpin]

"....about?" growled Wraith, eyes narrowing, suspicion rising....the cat's hesitation and claim not to remember had put him back on alert...

Renny shook his head suddenly and stared back at Wraith blankly. "About what?" he mewed, as if he was totally unaware of the previous conversation.

Wraith's eyes drifted between Renny and the loner, not sure whether to be suspicious of the tom's behaviour, or to be irritated at the apparent forgetfulness. "You were telling me how you were split from the Twolegs that cared for you...would you care to fill me in...without losing track of your own words, if possible?" he growled...

"Oh, right..." replied Renny. "Well, like I said, I don't remember. I don't what happened..." The tom didn't seem too sure of himself, and shifted from paw to paw uneasily.

"You don't remember?" growled Wraith, glancing between the two toms, eyes narrowed. "Then what can you remember?" he inquired...

Insolitus resisted the urge to unsheathe his claws and press them into the dirt. He glanced from Renny to...Shadowsoul and back, wondering what the odds were of them getting away if the situation turned ugly.

Hawkclaw fixed the brown tom with a sharp amber gaze. Forgetful...or a terrible liar? Her whiskers twitched.

Renny looked away. "Uh... I think... I, um... Another cat... That's it..." he muttered. "Why're you interrogating me anyway?" he meowed, a bit irritably.

Wraith's eyes narrowed. "You're curious about the clans. likewise, i'm curious about you...i can't be expected to give out information without something in return, can i?" he growled. it was true the information he was being given, and what he was giving in return, wouldn't compromise the clan's safety in any way...but still....he wouldn't just tell a random stranger information about the Clan...

Hawkclaw turned her attention to the gray tabby tom, though she kept one ear swiveled towards Shadowsoul and "Renny". The blue-eyed tom seemed calm, for the most part. A bit nervous, though she couldn't say exactly why. He looked like he was still doing his best not to appear hostile, though. He returned her curious look, tipping his head to one side as if trying to figure her out. He hadn't given his name yet. Did he have something to hide, or was he just cautious? She narrowed her eyes a bit, as usual trying to puzzle it out in her head.

Renny blinked. "Oh, well, I guess that makes sense... Still, that's all I know. I can't tell you any more."

[The Kingpin]

Wraith nodded. His amber gaze drifted onto the loner he had seen a few nights before. "I don't suppose you have a name to go by, do you loner?" growled the Stormclan Leader. Nightclaw meanwhile, was still eying the so called kittypet. he distrusted the tom, but dared not voice it there. it'd undermine any potential benefit his father could gain from this conversation...who was he to judge, a tom that was only 4 seasons old?...

"My name is Insolitus," he meowed, stretching one paw forward and lowering his head in an odd but respectful gesture. "May the all-mother smile upon our first true meeting."

Hawkclaw blinked. What an odd cat...but then, maybe he wasn't from by the lake.

Wraith nodded. an interesting gesture. "I'd take it you're not from around here either, are you Insolitus?" he growled. a strange name, and a stranger vocabulary and choice of gestures...

Insolitus shook his head. "I was born on the other side of the mountains," he meowed. "But I've taken to wandering." He blinked. "Some things stuck with me, though."

[The Kingpin]

"I've heard stories of the mountains....tribes that lived there. i remember a tribe coming to us several moons ago, but they disappeared not long after they initially arrived. we haven't heard from them since" growled Wraith. Nightclaw glanced over at Hawkclaw, as if curious as to what her opinion of the situation was, though not wanting to interrupt the conversation...

"There are a few different tribes," Insolitus meowed, nodding. "Perhaps the one you speak of went to live with the others."

Hawkclaw met Nightclaw's eyes, a little confused and burning with curiosity. They could learn a lot from this loner, if he wasn't planning on attacking them.

Wraith nodded. "Perhaps" he growled as he stared at the two cats. "Now....was there something either of you came here for, aside from meeting a Clan cat?" he inquired...

Insolitus turned his head to look at Renny. He spoke hesitantly, choosing his words with care. "Renny has said that, in the face of leaf-bare, it would be wise to consider joining a Clan." He looked back at Shadowsoul. "Of course, it is understandable if you would prefer not to let us."

Wraith narrowed his eyes at the two. it was a difficult choice to consider. on the one hand, the so called kittypet had given him much reason to distrust them, and he didn't want to compromise the security of the Clan. on the other, he didn't want to condemn the two to a difficult life outside if they truly were as they said they were. their scents were both different, and had no trace of other cats' scents on them, so they were definately from no clan, and judging by how the previous meeting there was no trace of Renny's scent on the former mountain cat, they had met after that, so there wasn't much chance that they were working together against the clan. deciding to give both Nightclaw and Hawkclaw a little test while he was in this situation, he glanced at the two cats at his sides. "Well then. Hawkclaw, Nightclaw. what do you think? should they be allowed in the clan, or not?" he growled. Nightclaw glanced at Hawkclaw, waiting for her to say what she thought before voicing his own opinion...

Hawkclaw blinked, surprised. Wasn't this Shadowsoul's decision? As she was thinking of how to phrase her answer, an idea struck her. "We used to give cats who wanted to join a...test, of sorts," she meowed slowly, thoughtfully. "We let them stay with us for a little while. Just to see how they got along in the Clan. They weren't full members until a certain amount of time had passed - a half moon, I think it was. If they'd proved themselves trustworthy, they were accepted." Her gaze flickered from the loners, to Nightclaw, to her leader. "Maybe...we could try that again?"
