"The spawns of the Stormclan leadership just so happen to wander my way? How can anyone pass up such a wonderful opportunity?" Firestreak growled without turning around. "Stealth isn't your thing, Shadowsoul. I suggest you drop the theatrics and get out here already." he added, somewhat annoyed.

"The fact you were oblivious to my presence until i made it known proves otherwise, Firestreak" growled Wraith. a streak of black fur cast a shadow over the cats as Wraith landed between Nightclaw and Hawkclaw. "Though, for the sake of keeping you from going mad with frustration at your inability to see me, i'll come down anyway" he added, a smirk creeping on the tom's face...

Firestreak waved a paw at Wraith. "That implies that I didn't know you were there." he explained, still staring down at the water with a frown. "It also implies that I'm surprised to see you here, which would be a lie. The only surprise here is the lack of your counterpart..." he growled, referring to Snowstar.

"And what would be the point of having two Leaders sharing leadership of the clan if both of them are moving together?" growled Wraith. "And besides. he's already spoken to you. i don't think either of you would gain much by speaking again" the tom added, Nightclaw staring at the former Thunderclan cat...

"It shows how well of a parent he is." Firestreak growled under his breath, drinking more of the clear water in front of him.

Hawkclaw flinched at the appearance of her leader. Great. As if things couldn't get worse...he probably saw the whole thing. Her tail lashed - the young tabby was furious with herself. Her jaws clenched on her prey and she lowered her head, not wanting to watch the scene play out.

"Regardless of how protective a tom is of his kin, he can't let it get in the way of Clan duties. Hawkclaw and Nightclaw are Warriors, regardless of how much some parents may wish they weren't exposed to the hardships that came with the duties of being one, and for now, they are busy getting food to support their clan. as a former deputy i think you've at least experienced that fact personally once, if not several times. to say you haven't would simply be a sign of being a poor parent yourself" growled Wraith. Nightclaw's eyes widened when he heard that Firestreak was a former deputy. how was it possible? deputies were loyal cats protective of their clan. the most trusted of the leaders they followed. of all the cats in a clan, it should usually be the Deputy that is the most unlikely to leave, let alone go rogue...

"Always the one to talk your enemies to death...it seems to run in the family." Firestreak growled with a sigh. "We both know the clan isn't as it was. Who is to say they can't shield their kin from clan duties, simply because they are in positions of power? It would not be the first time a leader has modified the code to suit their needs."

"The Clans may have changed, but the Code has most definately not. Leaders may have shielded their kin during the days you were in a clan, but it doesn't happen now" growled the tom...

"I fail to see any proof of that." Firestreak responded coldly, though he still did not turn around...

"Do you fail to see proof, or simply fail to see? there are so many examples, Firestreak, but apparently your loathing for a few select events during your time as a clan cat has blinded you" he growled with a disappointed sigh. he had remembered a time when their roles were reversed. where Firestreak was all but Leader of his clan after Fireflower, or star, as she was called then, and he had been but a Loner offering to help. and now....Firestreak had been reduced to a rogue, and Wraith, the former Loner, was Clan Leader...how times have changed he thought solemnly...

"I've witnessed a number of incidents that blatantly disobeyed the code, even after Firestar and her ilk." Firestreak spat, looking toward Wraith finally. "I do believe your own mate serves as medicine cat? I think young blood here proves my point quite well, don't you think?" he growled, gesturing with a nod toward Nightclaw.

"Another misinformed claim, i see. to correct you, she is currently a Warrior, though works with other former Medicine Cats in order to help teach the clan cats how to take care of themselves. that way, their skills aren't wasted as would have happened in the past. the Clan's medicine cat is Cloudhaze" growled Wraith...

"Outdated, perhaps. Don't argue semantics, Shadowsoul." Firestreak growled simply. "If you are so confident, then show me the error of my ways." the scarred tom growled, smirking.

"I can name examples. but I can't show you your mistakes if you refuse to see" growled Wraith...

"Show me your beloved clan, if you are so proud of it." Firestreak growled, slightly annoyed that he had to explain...

Wraith shrugged. "Nightclaw, Hawkclaw, when you're done, head back to the camp" he growled, before turning back towards the camp. an early end to his walk, but if he miraculously managed to impress Firestreak into staying, it may end up being worth it. "It disappoints me, to be completely honest, to see such a good warrior living as you do, split from all that remains of the Clan. as a warrior you'd do well regardless of where you are. you've obviously handled life well, you'd have no reason to be left an elder, and you have enough experience to advise any cat in the clan, Leaders and Elders included...not to mention seeing as you apparently feel so sharply for the Code, you'd help ensure the younger cats grew knowing it as we did in the past" growled the tom after he had left the two Warriors at the stream...

"The clan has always looked to me to solve their problems, it seemed, even when I had no responsibility to do so. This meant that every bit of misfortune they dropped on us all, I was the first to meet head on. But that's not what bothered me...my age? I'm more then capable of taking on your finest warriors, no matter how young." Firestreak explained, mostly to assure Shadowsoul that his intended status was unimportant to him. "Passing on knowledge to the new generation is something any self respecting warrior would do. Telling leadership how much they are ruining the clan is also commonplace...for me at least. Now I find myself rambling..." he growled, raising a brow as they walked, before suddenly snapping back into focus. "So long as the code is upheld, I have no problem with the clan. My encounter with Snowstar was for my own enjoyment, I assure you. Taunting and fighting rogues has gotten to be quite boring...always over the simplest of things. I do miss the challenge...hence why I don't mind that every time some life ending force enters our lovely little home, Firestreak is the first line of defense." he growled, smirking at the thought.

Hawkclaw set down the fish, keeping her head low. Way to go, Hawkclaw, she thought viciously. Well done. Now one of your leaders knows you can't even see off a rogue, former Clanmate or not. This is just perfect. "Do you want to keep practicing, or should we head for camp?" she meowed, the words sounding a bit hollow to her own ears.

Wraith chuckled. "I'm well aware of your abilities Firestreak....as i'm also aware of the details of the life of a Loner. I've always put the Clan first and foremost though. I'm sure you've noticed most of the new clans either have no knowledge of the Code, or outright refuse it, as is the case, i hear, with Earthclan?" he growled...
