[The Kingpin]

"i was wondering about your parents actually" meowed Nightclaw, trying to find a way to ask gently, knowing there were at least a few things Demontalon disliked about her past. "like.....did you ever ask your parents about the inspiration of your name?" he finally asked...

Demontalon sucked in a quiet breath. "My mother named me," she mewed softly, after a short silence. "I couldn't tell you what her reasons might've been - but a few saw it as a promise of things to come." Her gaze darkened with memories. You're a bit different and they start looking at you like you're plotting murder or something, she thought - and winced inwardly, because she remembered that she had been planning to betray her Clan. Until she met Wraith.

The gray loner slipped into a thicket of shrubs and bushes, making a rustling as he slid in between the plants. Finally coming to a clear space near the middle of the growth, the tom laid down onto his side, resting his head on his right foreleg. Tired from his walk and his little encounter with Stormclan's dawn patrol, who were back at the camp by now, Fogcloud began to think things over in his shelter. Like that cat he ran into. She was ready to claw his face off, and then suddenly gave him that scrutinous stare. Ussually a clan cat wouldnt stand for a loner in their turf, much less said loner bumping into them... then there was the fact she looked so much like his mother... it was all so strange in retrospect.

As he lost himself to thought, the tom's eyes slid close, shortly after, he lost himself to sleep...

From the bushes lining a fairly large clearing, a feline shape emerged. What looked like frost glittered at its paws and in its fur as it padded with quick, nearly silent steps to the sleeping gray tom's side. The tiny tabby and white kit, amber eyes wide and filled with mischief, leaned forward and breathed softly into Fogcloud's ear. "Open your eyes," he mewled. "I have something to show you."

"How about...no" Fogcloud growled drowsilly, waving his paws about awkwardly. After a series of grumbles, and the tom twisting his body about angrilly, his eyes opened. He was laying on his back looking at the kit. All he could say after taking in its strange features was "...Who the devilfish are you?"

"I'm your half-brother," Eaglekit mewed. "And I have to show you something." He turned and started towards the opposite side of the clearing, across from where he'd come in.

"Like Im gonna take your word for that" Fogcloud hissed. He rolled back onto his feet and inspected the kit. It was obvious a Starclan cat, and the thought of a dead kit talking to him made the gray tom feel...awkward. "The only brother I have is a cat named Lightstorm...though, you should know that, sitting in sky amongst the others fallen"

[Hopeflower]

"I'm Lightstorm's brother, Eaglekit," Eaglekit mewled, stopping and looking back over his shoulder with a faintly annoyed expression. "And that makes me your half-brother. I was killed before I had the chance to grow up like you and him, and your sisters. Now, we could stand here and argue about how we're related, but I really have to show you this thing. It's important."

"Oh...i'm sorry they felt that way about you" mewed Nightclaw, ears drooping slightly as he shuffled his paws around at the ground in front of him. he wanted to ask what she meant, but didn't want to bring back bad memories...

[Hopeflower]

Demontalon gave her pelt a shake, snapping herself out of the past. "Anyway...I turned out alright in the end," she meowed. "Turned my back on what they expected me to be and made my own way, with a bit of help from Wraith and Shadelight." She let out a satisfied purr.

[C S]

"Funny" Fogcloud mewed. "My parents never mentioned an Eaglekit. Im more inclined to trust my own past than some dead kit claiming to be alive before I was" He growled. After a pause, he sighed. "Aw well. Ill humor you, lead away" The gray tom got up and stretched out...

[Hopeflower]

"There are apprentices here who were alive before you were," Eaglekit muttered under his breath, starting to walk again. "I can't imagine they would mention me," he mewed more clearly, but with grief laced into his tone. "Snowstar wasn't Lightstorm's true father or mine...but he mourned my death just as he would if he were."

Fogcloud stopped walking. His brother...wasnt really his brother? It couldnt be true He shook his head. "Look kit, any cat from Starclan can come up to me claiming they are related to me- and I wouldnt believe them! So why dont you find something better to do with your time instead of trying to mess with the living"

"Hawksight told you all of this," Eaglekit mewled impatiently. "She's my mother and yours, remember? And, speaking of..." He trained his gaze on the undergrowth. "She's got something to show you, and if we don't get there soon she's going to think I can't get even the simplest of things done! Or that I got lost! ...I don't want her to panic...."

"Hawksight told me...what? How'd you get mother out of the clan to be here anyway?" Fogcloud hissed. "Look, kit, think logically- why the devilfish would I leave my clan for a week, trekking the forrest with a dog so I could find the twoleg nest my brother was being held if the cat wasnt even my brother, damn it!" He snapped at the small cat. He couldnt accept it- his parents holding back information- LYING to him, calling a cat his brother when he wasnt even his father's spawn, it was dispicable

Eaglekit froze. He gave Fogcloud a sorrowful look. "You...don't remember?" he mewled. "Hawksight told you that she wasn't Lightstorm's mother...after he - "

"Eaglekit," the spoken of she-cat's voice meowed. He turned his head as Hawksight slipped out of a clump of ferns. "You've done enough. You can go play with the other kits," she meowed to her tiny son. "Try not to get in too much trouble."

The kit scampered away, and Hawksight's dark amber eyes met her son's gaze. "Hello, Fogcloud." Her voice was soft. "We have much to talk about. Will you stay and listen?"

Nightclaw smiled, both happy for the outcome Demontalon recieved, and proud that his parents had such a part in it. "How did my parents help though?" he meowed, having never heard of how Demontalon had come to know his father...

Fogcloud's pupils shrunk to the point it seemed his eyes were a solid gold color. His mother?! Dead...?! How- when- the questions just kept piling up, the things he'd said to her, they all replayed in his head- and that one memory, when he left the clan... it was true... Snowstar never told him anything, but Hawksight did.. and it was the last thing she'd say to him for a long time...

"Wraith overheard me telling Blazeheart about ShadowClan - Blazeheart was still Blazepaw back then and he'd been tempted to leave ThunderClan by a ShadowClan warrior," Demontalon meowed. "He was impressed by how much I knew. Shadelight had been exiled from RiverClan around that time, I guess," she added musingly. "And she must've been listening, because while Wraith and I got to talking, she slipped into the conversation. Both of them reassured me that no matter who my grandfather was, I didn't have to be like him." That was after Silverstripe told me Tigerclaw wasn't exactly a great cat to look up to, she remembered suddenly. "And not long afterward, Wraith offered to teach me what he knew, and Shadelight decided to help. I owe both of them a lot."

Hawksight watched Fogcloud's reaction with sorrow in her eyes. "You've grown so much," she murmured. "Changed so much. You're truly your father's son."

"I cant say the same about Lightstorm..." The gray tom snarled. "I cant believe you'd lie to the clan like that... he thought he was living with family but he really isnt! He's living a lie, and you dont really care do you?" Fogcloud hissed. He couldnt help but feel resentment for his mother, resisting the urge to walk in the opposite direction...and at the same time, couldnt help feeling regret...
