Switchblade found herself restless, the heavy rain irritating her. She thought she'd try to get some sleep until the storm was over, but sleep refused to come. Giving up on it completely, the green Lili finally let out a soft, resigned growl and pushed herself to her feet just as another harsh fork of lightning momentarily lit up the room, casting strange shadows over the slender predator, making her look somehow even skinnier than she already was. A crackling boom following after a few seconds, but the Lili had already crossed to the door and turned down the hallway. Though she didn't intend to leave the building until the lightning was over, she couldn't stand to sit still, and started to pace the hallways, head held low and far in front of her, turning slowly from side to side as she passed room after room, scanning each one for signs of life. Eventually she made it to the end of the hallway, where the path split off in either direction, one leading to a set of stairs, the other continuing on for a few yards before coming to a dead end. Turning boredly toward the stairwell, she suddenly paused, almost unsure exactly why at first. Something in her mind had just clicked. She bent down to sniff the floor. No, nothing there. Maybe she'd been imagining it, she though, raising her head again, but freezing once more. It was then she knew it wasn't on the floor, but drifting down on a soft breeze from above. She climbed the stairs with a renewed alertness, the corners of her mouth starting to tug themselves up as she came to the second floor and continued following the scent. Then, quite suddenly, she realized it was two separate scents, one slightly overpowering the other. Feeling an odd leap in her chest, she walked on, pulse quickening, the smells getting stronger until she finally turned into an apartment that seemed to be the end of the trail, now able to tell for sure that they were very similar to her own scent. Definitely Liliensternus. After a quick search, she found the room to be abandoned, although the strength of the occupants' scents told her they probably only left a couple of hours ago. A full smile now firmly in place across her maw, she walked over to what was left of a worn-out bed, seeing signs that something approximately her size had been laying there. Moving over to a large, completely shattered window, she narrowed her eyes against the blowing rain that was dripping inside, looking out at a badly rusted fire escape not far from the window, its railings long gone. It looked to be within jumping distance. Maybe that was how they had gotten in and out, and why she hadn't detected their trail when she came in through the front door of the apartment complex...
