Velkor paused, narrowing his eyes. "I don't have heart? Oh really?" He grabbed Thanatos by the shoulder and spun him around forcefully, glaring at him with cold, orange eyes. "Let me tell you something about me. I have just as much of a heart as you, but I believe something you don't, apparently: I only respect those who have respect for me. And so far, I see no respect thrown in my direction. You better be happy I've helped as much as I have. I could easily just sit back and watch you all fight for your lives, but I'm not. I even saved your life a couple of times back at the mansion, in case you don't remember. And what do I get? I get criticized on having no heart! Isn't that just great? But fine. Just go tell this to Diana yourself: Siete can't get to her here, and as long as the rest of you are around, it's a pretty safe bet to say she isn't going to run into him any time soon." He turned away, shaking his head. After a moment, he turned around, having regained his composure. "And next time, don't be so quick to judge, will you?" he hissed with a grin.

Thanatos glared at Velkor then turned his head back towards the door. He sighed with resignition. "I'm sorry, it's not my nature to judge like that, I just want to protect Diana," he said quietly. "Especially when her peers think badly of her, it's then that she starts to push everyone away."

"Hey, I'm not thinking poorly of her," replied Velkor. "And I doubt any of you are. So tell her to quit with the pushing away thing. It doesn't help." he walked past Thanatos, leaning against the wall and chuckling. "You'd think Siete is able to actually hurt her from her dreams. I haven't heard that one before..."

Up above, another bird perched, watching the conversation with interest, its eyes a pale white in color...

Thanatos narrowed his eyes in thought. "Physically no," he said. "Mentally and emotionally, yes." He put his hand on to his mouth. "And that's the worst kind of hurt," he said. "Not only does it destroy her confidence, it hurts her to know that he knows it's the truth."

"And you haven't kicked this guy's a** yet?" asked Velkor, giving Thanatos a confused glance. "Because that might, you know, help."

[Shade]

Thanatos sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "We thought we did," he said. "The fact that he's still alive is still quite the shock!"

Diana stepped out of the shower and sighed as she examined the scars on her back. Thick and jagged as always. Somedays she couldn't believe that they were still their, while her other imperfections cleared up! She heard the conversation in the other room and leaned closer to hear more.

Velkor shrugged. "Well, like I said before, he can't get to her here, and I doubt he'd stand a chance against everyone here. For now, she's got nothing to worry about, so she ought to calm down. And you'd better start making Siete a higher priority if you want to get rid of him." He glanced upward, espying the bird that stared intently back. Unnerved, he looked away. "Creepy..." he muttered under his breath.

Thanatos looked at the bird as well and narrowed his eyes. "Never seen a bird with white eyes before," he said and started toward it.

Diana walked in just tying up her hair and she looked at Thanatos. "Whatchya lookin' at?" she asked and peeked behind his shoulder and saw the white-eyed bird. "That's quite the oddity," she said. "Indeed," Thanatos said still walking towards it.

Mike opened the door to the observation room to see Drake in a flurry of moves against a punching bag, a pair of batons in hand instead of his blades, the number on the scoreboard shooting through the 700s and stopping at about 865 when the timer stopped. Drake was panting slightly, still not completely recovered from the previous night completely, and headed over to the table, taking a drink and downing it in two large gulps, Spencer nodding, impressed. "That's our Drake..not even properly recovered and still mauling the other scores" said Mike, still in the observation room, unseen or heard by Drake and Spencer, for now...

The bird fluttered down to the ground, landing lightly on the floor. It hopped closer, then turned towards Diana. Letting out a his, it disappeared is a flash, only to be replaced by a larger creature, its eyes now glowing fiercely, its birdlike head lacking a visible mouth. A single coiling horn protruded from the back of its head. It took a menacing step towards Diana, clawed hands reaching towards her.

Nyx started to applaud and whistle and she smiled at her own boldness. "I told you, no one can best him," she said.

Diana started to back away. Thanatos suddenly leapt at the creature and pinned it down. "If you lay a single claw on her, I'll rip out your eyes and them as ping-pong balls!!" he snarled.

The creature didn't respond, except with another hiss, before wrenching one arm off the ground and grabbing Thanatos by the throat. He threw him to the side, sending him sliding across the floor, before leaping to its feet and turning towards Diana again. Velkor leaped forward, wrist blades springing from his sleeve, but the creature was faster. It sidestepped and kicked out, making the Demon go careening through the air and slam into the wall. It leaped at Diana with a screech, touching her forehead with a claw. It suddenly disappeared in a flash of black smoke, with only its incessant hissing lingering in the air. Staggering to his feet, Velkor growled, "What the hell?!"

[The Kingpin]

"They can't hear you from here. the glass is one sided and reflective on their side, and this is an insulated room. sound doesn't get outside. but yeah, Drake's really good. he used to be better, but i'll scratch his weakness off this time as exhaustion from the previous day. after being beaten that badly, chances are Spence is gonna go all out" said Mike. sure enough, after a short bit of talk between Drake and Spencer, the latter seemed to get annoyed, and went over to the console, switching it over to his own, with it's previous score of 794, and loosened up, still not having worn his suit jacket. "Want to go in and have a closer look?" asked Mike...

Thanatos got to his feet and stared at Diana for a while. "What was that all about?" he asked. "You tell me," Diana said, she touched the place where the thing had touched her. "What was that thing?" she asked. "Didn't really smell like a demon." "Yeah it smelled worse," Thanatos said covering his nose.

Nyx nodded and smiled crookedly as she saw and felt the annoyance radiating from the men.

"Well, whatever it was, it's gone now," hissed Velkor. "Funny... It looked familiar to me, but I can't quite put my finger on it..."

[The Kingpin]

Mike opened the door to the training room, seeing Spencer going through an almost blinding series of blows as he beat the punching bag with kicks and punches, working to top Drake's score, Drake not even paying attention to him at the moment, instead, drinking more water. he looked up, smirking. "You really know exactly how to make me happy, Mike" he said, looking at Nyx with a smile. "How's everyone doing up there?" he asked...

[Shade]

"Diana seems to have cooled down," Nyx said. "I'm just worried about leaving them with Velkor, we could end up staring at a bloody, pulpy mess on the floor."

"Why was it so intent on me?" Diana asked, still rubbing the spot.

Velkor scratched the back of his scaly head. "Beats me. Maybe it likes you?"

Diana and Thanatos turned and quirked an eyebrow at Velkor. "In what way?" Diana asked.

"And maybe a pile of ash too" said Drake with a chuckle. "And how are YOU feeling?" he asked as a moderately loud clinking sound was heard as A beep marked the end of Spencer's round, a low thump being heard as the punching bag had flown across the room, it's chain broken, the punching bag colliding with the wall as the man calmed down, panting slightly, running his fingers through his hair and brushing it to one side, so that his right eye was unrestricted...
