Scar gently pushed away the ferns, staring through the jungle to his target. A young Carnotorus stood in the clearing, snapping at the highest branches of a tree. The Carnotor was about 6 feet long, but with its short, bone-crushing jaws, it was a major threat to the younger raptors.

He remembered finding 3 of the Velociraptor juveniles missing, and then hearing the angered roar of a Carnotor. Scar had tracked it from downwind, and the Carnotor, nor any of its parents should know that he was here. But he would have to drive it away before its parents came.

Apparently, some of the juveniles had gotten too brave after their hadrosaur kills, and had tried to chase away the Carnotor, but had only gotten themselves trapped in a tree. Watching the Carnotor try to get at the young, Scar began to think of a plan.

She watched Exile as she continued to dig into the rotting carcass. Maybe she could be useful for hunting, since she made that kill, or so Sharpclaw thought. "Maybe you could join us on a hunt," stated the velociraptor as she continued watching her.

Razorfang pushed his way through to see what the fuss was all about. It was Exile, the young raptor that was left behind. He examined both her and the kill closely. "Yeah, join us," he barked, repeating his mother's words.

Meanwhile, some of Sharpclaw's juveniles have gone missing. She glanced around to finally notice this. At first, Sharpclaw began to call to them in a high pitched bark. There was some answering back, but the answer she got back were not excited barks. They were screeches and screams of the young ones. Something happened. They wandured too far. Why?

She started to get both worried and angered that her juveniles were missing. And so was Scar, looking for them. She growled to Exile, telling her that she was going to find them and if she wanted to go, then she could. Then, she started to run in the direction of the calls. Razorfang was following behind, trying to catch up with Sharpclaw.

Fury ate the kill supplied by Crusher. He walked a little away from the others and listened. He heard alot of raptor calls. He didn't know if the raptors were friend or foe but he didn't care.He was very confident now that Crusher taught him and Hunter how to fight. He walked toward the sounds, now being allowed to leave the nest but only a short distance, untill he saw a strange site.He saw a Carnotarus attacking a tree. There must be something inside.....Fury growled. He ran out and saw how small the Carnotar was.He roared at it and gently charged it down.It roared as it fell but wasn't injured.Fury just hit it with his tail and started to wlak away. Then he noticed a raptor in the jungle right by the Carnotar. He remembered him from somewhere but he didn't care.He went up to the raptor and pushed him over and walked on.He returned to the nest and went with Rampage and Hunter to drink from the river. They did just that and then returned to the nest and rested.

Crusher nearly finished his patrol when he saw a pair of Carnotaurs stalking a Para herd. they were in his territory. Crusher made a territorial roar that made the Carnotaurs tremble obviously. one turned to face him and roared. Crusher charged forward and swung his open jaws into it's face, knocking it's head to the side and giving Crusher an opening for a neck bite. the second Carno interrupted by charging into Crusher, making him stumble as he was about to bite the neck. Crusher swung his tail into it and locked his jaws around the first one's head, which was conveniently in the way when he closed his jaws. he swung his head to the right and made the Carno fall when Crusher suddenly stopped the swing. he stopped and swung the other way, and made it need to walk backwards. Crusher moved his jaws too fast for it to keep standing, and it fell. Meanwhile, the second Carno was constantly trying to ram him, only to end up with a thick tail in the face repeatedly. Crusher looked at the fallen Carno and finally managed to get the neck. he tightened his grip on it and was rammed. he fell, to the fallen Carno's annoyance and dismay, on it's head, breaking it's neck and crushing it's skull. the Carno that rammed Crusher backed off when it saw it's dead mate, and ran off. Crusher pursued it, but not too fast. he didn't want to have to kill it if it was going to leave his territory.....

Exile had heard the youngsters cries and ran straight after SharpClaw. She was part of the pack, they all cared for one another. Exile couldn't stand by when they were in danger.
They had plunged into the jungle, and could immediatley sense Scars presence as the wind was blowing in their direction. Both of them crept quietly to Scar and grolwed quietly to alert him of their prescence.
There was a snapping and growling in the clearing ahead of them and Exile turned to look. A juvenille Carnotaur was standing there, staring into the trees above him. She turned her eyes upwards and noticed where the little squeeks were coming from. The juvenille raptors!
A snarl arrupted from SharpClaws mouth upon seeing this and the Carnotaur immediatley looked in their direction. He had't seen them yet, he was just unnerved from the noise. Exile looked at Scar and SharpClaw for what to do...

Scar watched with weary eyes as the Tyrannosaur attacked the young Carnotor. They would have to be prepared to grab the young and run if the Tyrannosaur noticed them. It took him a few seconds to realize that the Tyrannosaur was actually Fury, and he was embaressed with his mistake. He hadn't seen the young Tyrannosaur for a while.

He and Sharpclaw went to the tree where the juvenile raptors had went, standing at the base of the tree and calling into the leaves, letting the juveniles let it know that it was safe to come down. Their heads poked cautiously from the dense leaves, and upon seeing the two of them began the climb down.

Meanwhile, Crusher continued following the female Carnotaur, intending to charge at her at full speed if she didn't leave his territory. she was leading him back inside his territory, instead of away from it. she entered a clearing and the first thing Crusher noticed was a juvenile Carnotaur, undoubtedly the female's chick. the plain was very large, and it would take a while before they even reached half way across to the other side. Crusher saw the juvenile Carnotaur hoping and chomping at something in the trees. then he heard raptor barks. Crusher knew that the only raptors that lived in his territory were Scar's pack, so he was instantly sure that the raptors in the tree were from Scar's pack. Crushere roared a rageing territorial roar that echoed around the entire massive plain. it was close to the loudest roar he could make while running. it took a still stance to muster the power for the incredibly loud roars he made in fights. the Juvenile looked at him, charging behind the familiar Carnotaur, and continued, ignoring them. Crusher was surprised. obviously, the Carnotaur's parents hadn't taught it about the dangers of ignoring Tyrannosaurs, especially ones the size of the one heading towards him. Crusher decided to try and chomp on the female Carnotaur's tail. he managed to bite the last foot of tail off, chopping it off completely but nearly losing his balance in the process. Crusher continued chasing it and noticed a slight glow that he could instantly identify as the reflection in raptor eyes. Crusher's eyesight was far better than a Carnotaur's, and Crusher saw the 3 sets of eyes easily. he continued chasing the female. it would be a while before they arrived at where the juvenile Carnotaur and the group of raptors were...

The small Velociraptors came down nervously, hopping down a branch, then looking around to see if anything was around. For raptors almost ready to leave home, they were unsure of themselves, and Scar thought that they were likely to stay with the pack when the oppurtunity came to leave.

When they reached the bottom, Scar and Sharpclaw gently picked up the juveniles in their jaws, making sure not to hurt them. Normally, they would have let the young ride on their backs, but he wanted to get back to the nest quickly. The Carnotor's parents probably weren't too far.

On the way back to the nest, they heard a Tyrannosaur roar. It's probably Crusher, Scar thought. Even so, they hurried back home. As he let the juvenile go back to its nest, he gazed around the cave. It had been their home for months, but after the juveniles left, they would be abandoning the nest.

The pack became nomadic for the dry season, following Hadrosaur herds and water around the island like they had months ago. It was the time Scar liked best, he had been a wanderer for most of his life, and it suited him. He was often bored and reckless when confined to the cave, the randomness and chance of the dry season excited him. He would be irritated when they returned to the nest afterwards.

Crusher watched as the raptors started moving. when they had disappeared, Crusher decided to speed this stupid pair of Carnotaurs up, or kill them. he charged forward, reaching full speed and soon running next to the Carnotaur. he slammed his head into it's side, breaking a couple of ribs in the process. Crusher now put a foot on the Carnotaur's head, to stop it from attempting an attack, and looked at the Juvenile, who was startled by the sudden, very loud thud that he heard when it's mother hit the ground. Crusher now gave them a sample of his true roaring power. he made a roar that vibrated in the Carnotaur's body, making it feel as if it had been shaken like a rag doll very quickly. it looked at Crusher, fear taking a heavy hold on it, and Crusher leaned down on it's mother's head, bringing a roar of pain from her. Crusher roared "this time, i will be merciful. next time i see you in my territory, i will kill you and anyone with you!". the Carnotaur made a frightened nod, and Crusher stopped leaning on the female's head. he then moved back off her, giving her a chance to stand, then he growled "Leave now, before i decide it isn't worth letting you live.". that definately upped the pace, the 2 Carnotaurs heading for the closest border of Crusher's territory to them. Crusher finished his patrol, then returned to find his kill hadn't been skeletonized as he expected. there was a full leg that was untouched, as if his family had deliberately left it for him. he ate what was there, then went over to where his family were resting comfortably on the fairly lush ground of the nest, and slept.....

Every single member went with them as they moved with the herds. Sharpclaw was keping a close eye on the juveniles, along with all of the other females. The males seemed to be more up front.

The juveniles were getting better and better with each passing day. Their hunting skills seemed to be improving everytime the pack went on a hunt together. Sharpclaw and the other females were growing proud of them all, as well as Scar and the males. Sharpclaw knows that some of them will leave the pack to join other raptor packs or start a pack of their very own. It was going to be a sad, yet rewarding day for all.

The pack stopped where the river splitted the lands into small island-like chains. The juveniles took a quick drink, as well as the adults to keep themselves refreshed and going. The hadrosaurs were not far off. They were graing in the far clearing, where grass was plentiful for them.

Scar looked at the Hadrosaurs ahead of him. Feeling the wind at his back, the pack moved to the side, positioning themselves downwind. A few hadrosaurs had already picked up their scent. They moved further away, and left some of the young exposed. Perfect, Scar thought.

A few raptors moved upwind, while more stayed downwind. The raptors upwind would scare the Hadrosaurs, sending them into a stampede, seperating the young from the adults. If that didn't work, in stampedes such as this, it was possible a hadrosaur tripped over a root or broke its ankle in a random depression, making another easy target.

The upwind raptors revealed themselves, sending the hadrosaurs into a panic. They followed the game trail, herded by the raptors at the side into following a pre-set course, right to the rest of the pack. The group attacked, insinctually aiming for a young hadrosaur that had fallen behind.

Scar leaped at it, but missed and fell to the ground. Another raptor attacked behind him, he noticed it was a juvenile that had stayed with the pack. Others attacked, and soon the hadrosaur fell. Scar began to eat.

Crusher could hear snarls and running when he woke up. his eyes were closed. he could also smell a familiar smell of a Para kill. he was feeling a bit hungry. he opened his eyes to see an adult Para dead in front of him. he got up, and saw Hunter and Fury play fighting again, this time using his techniques. he looked to his left to find Rampage fixing up an area of the nest for the egg that was now sitting in the middle of a fairly large mound of leaves, mud and branches. Crusher growled, just to let everyone know he was awake. he started eating, then went on his patrol. he soon finished the patrol and returned to the nest. the Para had been skeletonized when he had left, and apparently his family were still hungry. Crusher led them to the plains to do some hunting. the plains were forked about 2 kilometers away from the herd, a large rocky ridge splitting the 2 paths. they would split up, with hunter blocking the right exit from the plains after the healthy adults of the herd had gone through, which would force the slower, weaker, older and younger Paras to go down the left path, where Crusher was waiting at the end. Rampage and Fury would chase the slower group of the herd in Crusher's direction, and Hunter would follow them when the whole herd had passed, and would chase them into a trap. Crusher and his family split up and prepared for the attack....

[i would continue the whole post, but i'd like to give some of the other players a chance to join in, intervene, or prevent it.]

Scar and the rest of the pack had settled down near their kill, many of the group asleep. Off somewhere in the distance, they could see Crusher and his family on the plains. They themselves were between two channels, right where the plains began to meet jungle. Scar was in conversation with his mate and the second in command.

Are you sure that we should be leaving Crusher's territory? Scar growled. I'm sure, his second in command growled back. The raptor's stripes alternated white and black as they ran along his side, another slight mutation in the pack. All of the Hadrosaur species are leaving for the channels, where they'll nest, the White-Striped raptor explained. That's why the spinos are so plentifull, they live where the hadrosaurs come every year. When the Hadrosaurs leave, they'll hardly be enough food for Crusher's family. Scar's mate nodded. He's right. Don't forget, I spent years in that territory, before I joined this pack.

But what about the spinosaurs? Scar asked. There are the juveniles to worry about, he hissed. We probably will lose a few, the second in command snarled, but it's better than staying here to starve. Scar understood the logic, and the White-Striped raptor was right. Losing a few juveniles was better than starving, and any food took would also hurt Crusher's family. Fine then, Scar snarled, We follow the hadrosaur herds into the channels, and into the spino territory.

The other raptors woke up after a well deserved rest and started to move with the herds, yet again. This time, the juveniles were staying close to the adults after what had happened earlier yesterday. Razorfang, the normally adventurous and daring raptor was also staying close to both of his parents. He didn't want to become food for any predators that might be wandering around.

Sharpclaw was alert as she walked along with the pack of raptors. She was looking after the young with a close eye this time, wanting nothing to happen to them while they were on their journey, following the herds. Rawhide was also helping out with the watching.

Hunter and Crusher reached their positions downwind from the herd. Fury and Rampage charged out onto the plains, not running at full speed, not wanting to go past the slower Paras, who were the real targets. Hunter hid in the trees and waited, watching the fast part of the herd run past him, then walking out and blocking the path. the slower Paras saw him and ran down the other path, where Crusher was waiting. behind Crusher was a massive dead end, in a very high, steep valley. as the herd spotted him, they skidded to a halt, some falling over others. when half of them got up and turned around, they were faced with Hunter, Rampage and Fury. the family killed a Para each, picking the ones that would best feed them. Crusher killed the largest of the 4 kills, being the most hungry. it was an elderly male that was probably the largest Para in the entire herd. Hunter had the second largest, which was an sub-adult female about half his height. Rampage killed one roughly the same size as Hunters, only slightly smaller, and Fury went with a juvenile male. the surviving Paras ran off and went back into the plains, where the herd returned 3 hours later. after the family had had their fill, they headed home....

The pack marched on, following the hadrosaur herds. It came time to rest for the night, and they found a secluded clearing to rest in. Scar made sure that it was downwind from where the Spinos were, not wanting anyone to be attacked during the night. He wasn't too worried, Crusher had been able to kill many of the Spinos in the last few months. Still, a Spino could be very dangerous, escpecially with all the juveniles. As he went to sleep, Scar thought he caught a glimpse of a gray-orange raptor standing nearby.

As Exile settled down to sleep with the rest of the pack, she couldn't help but worry about the Spinos. She was still terrified of them, and it was a troubling thought that the pack could be put at a danger to them. She knew it was the only way but it still worried her.
The sight of a few sentries eased her paranoia slightly as she chanced closing her eyes. She stayed in that state for a while, her remaining senses on high alert. But soon, sjhe realised she was quite safe for the time being, and settled down to sleep.

Crusher returned to the nest with his family that night, and Crusher had a feeling that something big was intruding on his territory, so he decided to do one last patrol before going to sleep that night. he went from the northern edge of his territory, to the eastern edge, then to the southern edge. when he reached the western edge of his territory, he smelled something vaguely familiar. "could that be.....Suchos [Suchomimus]? if those things are here, we may have a problem. they disappeared 20 years ago....when Thrasher took control......now that Thrasher's gone, they're back.....and headed for my nest!" thought Crusher, the thought of Suchos attacking his nest was one that made his skin change to his rage colours. Crusher charged toward the nest, his eyes glowing a fiery red, his teeth fully bared, ready to rip anything that attacked his family to pieces....

Sharpclaw suddenly woke up when she thought she heard some kind of a hissing sound. She glanced at the bushes surrounding them. There was no rustle or disturbance from them, but the raptor was starting to have an uncomfortable feeling about all of this. Like someone or something was watching them.

Fury was with Rampage and Hunter at the nest, resting.Fury heard something from the woods around him and he got up to check it.He walked over to the edge of the nest and roared softly.Nothing returned his roar and he thought it was his mind playing tricks on him.He turned back toward Rampage and Hunter and grolwed I have a bad feeling.Somethings close to........ Then Fury felt a sharp pain in his neck and was thrown to the side.He saw Rampage roar at something.Something he couldn't see. Then, he blacked out.....hearing his foster family's roars slowly fade away......
