...What happened... Darkness snarled to himself, staring at the cave ceiling. ....My lust for revenge...my ruthlessness...its gone... he snarled, his mood becoming the darkest it ever was. ...It all happened after I met Steeltalon.... Darkness hissed, suddenly angry at the female raptor. ...But she agreed that we are mates.... he snarled. Darkness hissed and slashed the wall. ...She can't end up as Sharpclaw did...I have no reason to hate her... he snarled, looking at the slash in the wall. ...But I am no longer feared...they laugh at me... Darkness hissed, slashing the cave wall again. ...That can't happen...I won't allow them to mock me as they do...I deserve respect...my actions are legend, and no matter how "sane" I become, they should remember my them... he snarled, slashing the wall again. I'm sick, Darkness snarled, slashing the wall. of, he snarled, slashing the wall again. whining! he hissed, striking the wall and making a large gash in it. It appears "we" aren't as we have said... Darkness snarled, running his claw along the gash. It doesn't matter now.... he growled, laying his head back down. ...The old Darkness and the new Darkness are...combined.... Darkness snarled before falling into a light sleep.

It was almost dusk and the pack decided to make one of those hunting trips again. The whole pack was aching to get a piece of flesh into their stomachs once again. They all started to venture out, with the except of a few adults staying behind to watch their young. SharpClaw stayed behind with RawClaw while RawHide went along with the pack. He was pleased when the other raptors stopped their treatment of him.

They all walked out into the jungle. Sunlight seeped into the trees and onto the raptors tiger striped backs. They were either licking their jaws in thought of juicy meat or barking to each other excitedly, placing guesses on how much meat the herbivore will carry. Was it going to be a grand feast?

There was something odd about Blade and how he walked ahead of the pack. He was starting to do barking coughs and every once in a while, he would stop and blink before continuing again. Some of the raptors, the older ones at least started to wonder what was wrong with their leader. The younger ones hardly paid any attention to their leader and continued to bark.

Blade suddenly let out a hiss for all of them to be quiet. There was a herd of anatotitans grazing peacefully on the grass and watching over their young...

By the time she had eaten half of the fish Switchblade was almost full. She decided to try to save the rest for later. The Lili clamped her jaws around the fish's tail, and pulled it backwards to a shady spot under a tree. She let go of the fish and raised her head to see exactly where to put it. There was a nice patch of ferns in the shadow of the tree that would do perfectly. Again she grabbed the fish and backed into the ferns, trying to place it in the coolest, darkest place possible. Then she stood back and surveyed the area, wondering if the compys could get at the food. "I hope those scavengers don't get my fish. Maybe I should guard it." she mumbled to herself. She padded a short distance away to another tree and crouched down in the shade. She curled her tail around her body and laid down her head, looking like she might fall asleep, but continued to keep her eyes open in search of marauding scavengers.

Silver went over to Switchblade and chirped, "Good fish, huh?"

Steeltalon sighed quietly and shifted positions slightly. If she ever had to run from her enemies again, she couldn't drag her friends along with her. But it was very unlikely, so she didn't worry about that.

Sandstorm soon got bored of just lieing around. He barked to steeltalon and Shadow leaf "Im going for a quick walk I need to stretch my legs.." After awhile of walking, he reached the same log where he had met ghost. He lay down on top of it enjoying in the quiet...

Steeltalon got up and started dragging the para carcass to the edge of the clearing. The stench of rotting meat made her want to retch, but she held back and left the para carcass at the edge of the forest. She stretched, several stiff joints cracking, and started in the direction of the game trail without a word.

Switchblade raised her head and squeaked in reply, "Sure is! Thanks for getting it for me. I think fish is one of my favorite foods now." she stood up and scratched at a leaf she was laying on with her foot, pushing it out of the way. Then she laid back down in the soft grass and swiveled her head around, taking in the calm atmosphere. "This is a really nice place. If I was a raptor, would Steeltalon let me live here too?" The Lili chirped and giggled. "Do I look like a raptor or is my neck too long?" She lowered her head, trying to make her neck look shorter. Then she remembered her head crests. "Oh yeah, and these might be a problem." she chirped, touching them lightly with a claw.

Redtooth overheard Switchblade's comment as he came to the surface and laughed. "Yeah, you're not exactly raptor material!"

Darkness walked out of the cave and into the sun, his mind still destroying itself with questions. He walked over the stream and lapped up the water, then continueing over to a spot in the sun. Darkness didn't know what to believe. The fact that he was pushed around and laughed at made him angry, but the thought of being angry at Silver and Steeltalon for something that stupid was sickening. Darkness layed his head down on the ground, the sun warming him quickly. He was sick of talking to Steeltalon like it was absolutely needed. I annoy her with my constant questions about "us"... he snarled quietly to himself. Darkness wanted it to stop. He had feelings for Steeltalon, but was doubting she had feelings for him, and was only showing him pity. Probably only to make me shut up... Darkness snarled quietly, angry at himself. He was also sick of his mind conflicting itself. Every day after the lose of his pack, this continued. Even when he thought he had a home, the mental pain never stopped. Darkness sighed and basked in the sun, sick of laying around, but could find nothing of interest...

Silver smiled, amused. "You're welcome. I think she'd let you stayhere, it wouldn't really matter if you were a raptor or not, but you'd have to ask her first." She glanced at Steeltalon's retreating form. "And she's gone hunting...so, I don't think she'd mind." Silver laid down and flipped onto her back, enjoying the warmth of the day. "So where are you from? I don't think I've seen another dino quite like you." She blinked curiously at Switchblade.

Switchblade thought for a minute then answered, "I'm from a forest at the southeastern end of the island. It's kind of hard to find because of its location. The Liliensternus in my old pack were the only ones who knew about it for a long time. That is, until the Saurophagnax found it." Her happiness faded a bit. "My old pack was pretty big. There were almost fourty members I think. My mom said that it was the last pack left on the island, but she wasn't worried because there were so many of us. But then the Sauros killed most of them and drove me and my family out." Then her mood brightened. "That's when Redtooth and Steeltalon found me and I've been living at Redtooth's river place ever since. It gets kina lonely sometimes, but I like living there." She looked up at Silver. "That's about all I can think of right now. I can't remember alot of details. I guess things happened pretty fast."

Blade waited and searched for a good anatotitan for the pack. He spotted an old one with a good amount of meat on it. It would have to do. He was about to order the raptors to distract the surrounding herd, but suddenly his barking coughs started to erupted again. This time, they were getting worse than before. His eyesight was going blurry. He blinked a few times and tried to focus on the anatotitans. By now, they were turning their way, alert. One of the leaders let out a call to run away. Blade let out a bark to get the pack to start chasing them.

The pack tried their best to chase the anatotitan herd, but they started to run early. Blade tried to keep up, but then more of his coughing fits started to come. He stopped and let out a grunt of annoyance. What was wrong with him? The anatotitans were gone and the pack had no food, all because of Blade and his coughing fits. RawHide was worried about his pack leader, while the rest were both angered and worried. Did Blade know that he was feeling odd today?

"Oh," Silver chirped softly, flipping back onto her side. "I'm sorry about your family. Well, like I said, I'm pretty sure Steeltalon would let you stay here, if you had nowhere else to go."

Steeltalon was stalking a herd of homalocephale, carefully planning her next move. A couple of pachys weren't that far off. If she was going to make a kill and drag it off, she'd have to be fast.

Darkness watched the small raptor talk with the Liliensternus. This was turning into a shelter for the lost. Darkness winced, having just insulted himself. He stared into the distance, not knowing what to do. I need to do something... he snarled, getting up and walking out of the clearing. He walked out of Steeltalon's territory and into a part of the island he hadn't seen in a long time. The beach. The exact beach he was on when they returned home from that human infested place. Darkness walked along the shore, his foot-falls splashing in the water. What will become of me... he growled, staring out over the ocean. I can't just sit around...and I can't go back to my old ways... Darkness snarled, continueing down the shore. He stopped, not feeling the need to continue. Darkness layed down, staring out at the ocean again. This has to end... he growled. I am tired of being alone! I am tired of being bored! I am tired of laying around! Darkness snarled, slashing the water. He hissed out of annoyance, and layed his head down on the sand. The sea had a hold on him, the waves relaxing him. Darkness couldn't keep his eyes off it. He sighed and continued to stare out, wondering what his purpose was now that he was no longer a threat to anyone...

Steeltalon suddenly stopped stalking the homalocephale herd and turned away. Suddenly, she wasn't hungry. She headed to a part of her territory she hadn't seen in a while; the abandoned nest. It was torn apart as though something had come and taken the rotten eggs, but it would do. She started moving the usable fallen leaves to the caves, restless now. She kicked up some more fallen leaves and rested beside the nest, glad she'd gotten that out of her system.

Silver, immediately curious, went over and sniffed the nest. her eyes widened and she ran off, climbing a tree and having a silent laughing fit. her shoulders shook so much it was almost impossible to stay in the tree.

Switchblade watched Silver run off. She couldn't see where the raptor went. She craned her neck, but all she got was a good view of the jungle. She stood up and walked a few paces ahead, still unable to see anything. Not wanting to seem too nosy, she just walked back to the river and gazed into the gently flowing water. She stared at her double-crested reflection for a minute, when something caught her attention. A rustle in the bushes. Her head snapped up, ears pinpointing the source of the sound. It was coming from the very ferns she hid her fish in. Oh no you don't! the Lili thought, inching silently toward the sound. It was a compy, she could tell. Muscles tensing with each step, she stalked the oblivious compy. Now just a few feet away, she crouched down, ready to spring. The scavenger's tail was visible through the ferns, so Switchblade siezed the opportunity. All at once, she jumped at the dino with a screech, landing a bite squarely in the middle of its tail. The startled compy squeaked in fright and tried to run, but the Lili dug her feet into the dirt. The compy snapped at her head, trying to get her jaws to let go. She shook her head violently trying to knock the dino down. The compy squealed in pain and kicked out with its foot, narrowly missing Switchblade's leg. With one forceful pull, the Lili yanked her prey to the ground and quickly pounced on it, ripping its sides with her hand claws and clamping her jaws on its neck. The compy thrashed wildly, unable to escape. Switchblade held on tighter, sinking her claws deep into the compys flesh. Suddenly, the scavenger weakened. Then it stopped squirming all together, and remained silent. Switchblade, her heart pounding, slowly let go of her preys neck. She turned her head toward the sky and let out a victory cry. She had finally made her first kill!

Shadow leaf stood up on the highest branch of the tree. Well the highest that would upport her. She looked around the area of the caves. She liked it here, altough she never really felt like she belonged here. She sighed heavily again and continued to stare around the place.

Ghost peered through the foliage at the game trail. There were many herbivores on the trail, but few a lone raptor could handle, but Ghost knew how to hunt alone so he picked his target, a sub-aduly parasaur not quite as large as a full grown parasaur, but larger than a hatchling. Gost stalked closer and closer until he was almost on top of the unsuspecting dinosaur. Ghost waited until it tuened its head away before leaping from his cover and sprinting towards the prey at break neck speed and just as the parasaur turned its head back around Ghost had lept upon its shoulder and biten down upon its throat. The parasaur was running out of breath and wouldn't waste its breath calling for help it knew it was going to die, then it dropped causing the rest of the herd to scatter away and towards the larger herbivores. Ghost then looked at his handy-work and began the strenuous task of dragging the kill back to the cave.

Thunder eyed a herd of edmontosaurs in the clearing. Thunder's dark green skin camoflauged it easily in the jungle. Thunder not choosing any targets charged full ahead. The herbivores began to run away but Thunder kept up. He roared and then sank his teeth down on one of the larger ones and pulled it down with its massive jaws. The plant eater then lost its life as Thunder roared loudly and then began eating it. After a long while Thunder roared a bit and left what remained of the body to rot. THunder then walked away and went exploring through new areas.

scarback had been one of the raptors that had gone out on the hunting trip. however, he noticed that there was something wrong with blade. the alpha male was making coughing barks and stopped from time to time. scarback had noticed it and was wondering if blade would be able to hunt. however, this worry was also mixed with anger when the herd of anatotitans the pack had been stalking managed to escape because blade's barking coughs alerted the herbivores and the herd had begun running before the pack had a chance to take them by suprise. scarback looked at one of the other pack members and growled:"what do you think is wrong with blade?" the orange raptor growled back:"i don't know. whatever the cause is, it made us fail this hunt because the anatotitans heard the noise and realized that a predator was near." scarback looked at blade and could see that the coughing fits had stopped. however, this also meant that the pack had failed this hunt.
