Dreamer E-war

Postby Doc 42 » Thu Jul 22, 2010 2:50 am

Introduction
Dreamworld is a place everybody knows, but only some can see. Of the few that can see dreamworld, even fewer can control it. Those who can, the dreamers, fight for it.

You see, in dreamworld, lies the greatest prize of all. Glory.

Everyone enters dreamworld in a state of awe and wonder, but inevitably, everyone who enters dreamworld develops an insatiable lust for dreams. Everyone in DreamWorld has a dream, or at least they do when they first arrive. Some have multiple dreams, stolen by force from their peers.

The weapon of dream world is imagination. Every dreamer can influence themselves and the world with it, but only the one with the most dreams, the most power, can apply it to all of creation and shape the very world to their will, this person is known only as The Materialist.

DreamWorld is a shattered land, recovering from the most brutal war it ever suffered. Two factions rose, from the ambient conflict of the dreamers, one, led by the current thinker, the other, an army of some of the strongest dreamers joined together to combat their common enemy, calling themselves the heroes. The Thinker, courrpted by his power had set up the most twisted land Dreamworld had ever known, such that, every new dreamer to arrive was instantly set upon and had their dream stolen, adding to the thinkers power.
With no dreams, the new dreamers became nightmares, beings of unspeakable strength stalking the land, trying to make themselves whole once more.

But one day, the Heroes managed to rescue a new dreamer, and what they did was truely spectacular. They all gave up their dreams, allowing the new dreamer to slaughter everyone of them. Their sacrifice, pushed the new dreamer above the current Thinker, arresting control away from his malignant grip. The power, however, was too much for the new dreamer, who did not understand anything, her frantic thoughts and fears, rending Dreamworld apart. The catastrophe annihilated Dreamworld, ending the dreams of almost everyone in it.

Now, Dreamworld is recovering. Small elements of the Heroes remain, as well as the thinkers supporters, the Republic. More dreamers arrive from the void to wander this spectacular world, with no one dreamer powerful enough to control it, Dreamworld has reverted into an eden of misty mountains and fertile meadows interspersed with hellish volcanoes and deep chasms.

One can enter Dreamworld as whatever they like, wherever they want, and begin exploring, but must stay that way until they leave once more, and can only leave through where they entered. Some, get lost in Dreamworld never to return to whence they came.

In Dreamworld, you can be whatever you want, with your initial dream, you can change your appearance, your abilities and even bring with you up to two companions if you wish it. Every time you enter Dreamworld. you can change these. You must have dream with you at all times, for, if you were to lose it, you will become a Nightmare. Nightmares are stuck in Dreamworld, they cannot leave until they acquire a new dream. What's more, a Nightmare loses most of its imagination. It can't bring companions with itself, they will fade away with it's dream. It cannot even communicate with other dreamers or other nightmares, but, they are also extremely dangerous. However, if you take someone elses dream along with your own, dreamworld will begin to open itself to you. The power of two dreams, allows a dreamer to create a place of residence, be it a base, a mountain cave, a dark forest, anything. They will also be able to introduce a third companion to aid in their travels. A third dream, will allow the dreamer to introduce his own nation, an army of his imagination, to further extend his influence across Dreamworld.

Finally, the dreamer with the most dreams at any time, the Thinker, has the power to change all of Dreamworld to whatever they want. There can only be one Thinker. If two dreamers are tied with the same number of dreams, neither has total power, and Dreamworld will remain as it is until one achieves a majority.

Dreamworld is quite small at the moment, however, as more dreamers arrive, it will grow, bigger and bigger and bigger...

So your considering a trip to Dreamworld?
Well you've never picked a better time! This time of year, there is few clouds, and one can really see the other lands floating through the air above them. Our diverse selection of existence is all on display and is sure to cater to your enjoyment.

Geography!
The various areas you see on the map are the 'lands' of dream world. These lands are rather unpredictable. One day the Grasslands may be right next to the jungle, the next day, they could be at a 90 degree angle!, when the weather is clear, this phenonomen is visually spectacular (and vertigo inducing!)

However, despite whatever crazy angle the Jungles might be spinning towards, you'll always be able to access it through one of the many 'Tunnel Worlds' these bridges tend to be even more unpredictable than the lands they connect, however, you'll always be able to traverse them. though one day it could take 5 minutes and another day it could take 10 years. those crazy tunnels!

If you get tired of wandering the grasslands and playing Tarzan in the jungle, then maybe its time for an urban break in the City of Dreams!
Become the Mayor! Start a Revolution! Murder everyone for your own enjoyment! Whatever tickles your pickle.

Maybe your sword arm is achey after all that slaughter? Why Tramopoline your way up to the Tundra? Or just fly there with a giant bird. The Old Tundra may look rather isolated, but it is actually the most connected land in Dreamworld, with multiple tunnel worlds. One can just jump off that old chunk of rock and ice and generally end up landing into the grasslands, or with a bigger jump, end up all the way in The Depths!

Speaking of which, maybe the frostbite and polar bears have got to you. Wouldn't you enjoy a swim by the beach? Now how about the ocean floor?
Grab yourself the keys to Nautilus and take a dive!

These are only a few of the common day to day activities of our residents, there are many more for you to enjoy and discover, be it chewing on unsuspecting tourists with your crocodile teeth in the swamps or racing through the desert in speeders

->DreamWorld
Something for Everyone

Rules

1. You must act within your power (Ie: no armies if you only have one dream) (different benefits and levels will be listed later)
2. There is no rule against killing, pinning, or preventing someone's escape.
3. Unfairness is STRICTLY forbidden. No ********. Repeat offences will met with ganking.
4. Power playing is frowned upon. Invariably, this will come down to logic and argument, but please try to be fair. When your profile is made, it will be vetted to see if it is fair or not.
5. There is a limit of one character per player
6. NPC's are essentially figments of ones imagination, and are therefore pretty much un killable. They can influence the world, and can be torn to bloody shreds for being annoying, but can be stiched back together/healed with little fanfare.
7. You are never allowed control someone else's character or NPC. This includes saying that they are dead. When dealing with armies, this rule is more relaxed.

Notes

For this reason, if nightmares appear in the E-war, its recommended that you buddy up with someone.

Note on Dreams: Your dream can be anything, however, it must glow. It can be any colour, in any shape, and can be located anywhere on or in your character. It could be their heart, their necklace or even their mustache.

Note on Companions: Companion NPC's could be anything from your monkey guide who explores for you or a walking target for practising your shooting skills.

Note on Regeneration: Everything to do with one's person is controlled by their dream. As such, losing one's lung's, while uncomfortable, will not destroy you. All injuries can be healed through one's Dream, however, regeneration is not instantaneous, it does take some time. As it is a dream related power, possessing more dreams will speed the process up.
->See Nightmare for more information if you have lost your dreams

Note on Dream vs Dream: When two dreamer's fight, their dreams do battle as well. This fight cannot be controlled or even observed, only it's effects are noticable. While dreamers are actively engaging or pursuing one another, they will be unable to use the powers associated with their dreams as effectively as usual. for instance, one cannot regenerate lost limbs mid fight, or even while running away from a fight. They need to break contact completely. This also helps when assaulting another's domain, as the residing Dreamer cannot change the world to his advantage if he or she is locked in combat.

The effect is not instantaneous. If a dreamer is obliterated almost instantly at the start of a fight, they can often regenerate enough to defend themselves, making it difficult to one-shot-kill a dreamer, infact, by doing so much damage, you may only allow them to escape quicker. its more difficult to catch a pair of legs attached to a waist than it is to catch a full human.

->See Nightmare for more information
*Nightmares are exempt from this, however, when inside another Dreamer's domain, they lose their connection

Note on Nightmares: Nightmares have a much larger degree of freedom within the no power playing rule. Nightmares are much stronger than your average dreamer. Even if a dreamer has 6 dreams, they are still just as 'strong' as someone with only one. More Dreams gives you more control over Dreamworld, not more strength and so forth. Generally, a nightmare will have everything multiplied by 3. 3 times as fast, 3 times as strong, 3 times as smart. Nightmares are recognisable by being darker in appearance and surrounded by shadow, though some dreamers may already look like this.

In summary: Nightmares are much stronger than Dreamers.
Nightmares are incapable of communication in any form. No growling, no speech, no nothing.
Nightmares cannot change their form, they are stuck in Dreamworld as whatever they were when they lost their dream.
Nightmares cannot summon companions.

Birth of a Nightmare: When a Dreamer loses their dream, their body begins to decay and wither rapidly, as nothing is keeping them alive. Once this process is completed, the Dreamer is reborn as a Nightmare in the twisting neither between the lands, fuelled directly by Dreamworld, they may enter through any tunnel and begin their hunt.

*Regeneration with Nightmares->, Nightmare's take their power from Dreamworld, as opposed to exerting their control over Dreamworld, allowing them to retain regeneration, however... in another Dreamer's domain, they will lose this connection (unless for some reason, the Dreamer decided to channel power to them)

*Dream vs Dream combat-> A nightmare's mere presence effects people's dream's, preventing them from regenerating, or calling in reinforcements. (if they have armies) The Nightmare suffers no ill effects.

Dream levels -> Dreamworld is W.I.P. Suggest other levels for us! : D
0 Dreams->See note on Nightmares

1 Dream-> Freedom to come and go from Dreamworld as one pleases, control of up to two companions, normal regeneration.

2 Dreams-> enhanced regeneration, ability to create a new area and connect it to Dreamworld

3 Dreams-> control of a single army, which can travel across Dreamworld in order to exact your influence.

4 Dreams-> Can summon bodygurds, companions capable of fighting and surviving against even Dreamers. Is no longer effected by Dream vs Dream combat

The Thinker -> control over Dreamworld itself, in everything from it's denizens to it's shape and form.

PLEASE PM me if you think I've missed something, or if you think something should be added. DEW is far from perfect, but it could get close with your help.

Opening his dark eyes for the first time, a blinding explosion of white engulfed the old creature. Speckles of snow drifted past lazily, a whining wind ruffling his feathers. Raven took a number of steps through the snow, plodding down the mountain, over looking the edge of the Tundra, stretching across the icy plains before ending abruptly. He had finally found it... He'd be safe in this world. The old wizard spread his wings and took flight, letting the wind carry him up towards the mountain's peak, already eager to explore.

On the edge of the Wasteland, a number of dark green tentacles emerged from the scorched earth, coiling around themselves as bony plates began appearing, keeping the appendages contained in a massive, fearsome-looking body. Small, white dots flicked around in Tendril's skull-like eye sockets as he surveyed his surroundings. "Interessssting... very interessssting..."

The sounds of crashing waves and the cries of sea birds filled the salty air. The sun was creeping over the horizon, its reflection distorted by the shifting water far beyond the shore. A figure laid in the sand, motionless. He had been like that for a while now. He was on his back, his head pointed to the expanse of green some distance inland. Finally, movement. His hands twitched as he slowly gained conciousness. He sat up, slamming his hand against his forehead, suprised to hear a clank. Armor. He was wearing armor. He felt heavier, he knew that, but he thought he was just imagining that. No, it was true. He was covered completely in metal plates. Wordlessly, the being got to his feet. A few drops of water trickled over his metal covering. He wasnt far from the ocean. He was washed up? Possibly. He didnt recall how he ended up in the sand, unconcious. He didnt know how he got his armor. No, for some reason however, he knew he had a sword. It was kept on his back, in a sheathe that could snap onto his back without a strap. Its edge was jagged and its blade had grooves along it. He also knew his name was Desrium. He stepped forwards, watching as the salty foam crept over the sand. He looked into the water. Glowing red eyes housed in an ominous gray helmet, locked in an eternal glare was his reflection. "Figures" Desrium thought, craning his neck to loosen the stiff muscles. Some distance away, he saw a wall of rock, a sheer cliff with what seemed to be a cover of sand at the top. A desert island. He turned to face the line of trees behind him. He took note of this land. He stared into the jungle for a bit before starting to walk towards it, not exactly sure what to do...

Deep in the heart of the wasteland, a large winged being emerges from the magma. His eyes open and scan his surroundings. With a low snarl, the being opens his wings and crosses his arms across his chest. The demonic being scans the area for others. No one in sight. Figures, since this is a wasteland. The being draws his trusty Zweihander, the blade glowing an ominous red, reflecting the being's merciless personality. Draco smiles, his large, ominous insizers showing. "Hahaha......... now, to explore this glorious realm....." the demonic being hisses, looking down at his blade. Looking back up, he spreads his wings and heads off into the sky...........

"Whats with these things?" The armored figure asked himself as he ran a hand down one of toothy structures on his helmet. They were dagger like. Desrium flexed his jaw experimentally, some what suprised to feel the metal plating on his mouth sliding with the motion. He couldnt open his mouth wide enough to-say- bite someone and sink the metal tooth into them. Not that he'd want to- since his blade would've been a much more effective weapon. "I guess they look nice...or something" Desrium determined. As he neared the tree line, he swung an arm over his shoulder. His hand wrapped around the hilt of his blade, and with a metalic scrape, he drew the jagged sword. It lifted out of the sheathe gracefully, and Desrium held the elegant weapon with one hand as he went, using his other hand to push shrubs and ferns out of his way as he entered the foliage. He was preparing for any threats he might run into in the jungle...

Draco flies up and over the volcanic area he had arrived in. This form of his....... it was far different from how he was before in the real world. He examines the blackened, spiked armor that covered his body. It felt....... powerful. He almost felt invicible in it. He then examined his wings. They must have been formed do to his relations with the dragon, as his name would suggest............ He then glances at his sword. Powerful, ominous, ferocious- it was almost an embodiment of his very soul, and it lay in his two hands. Draco cracked another smile, his large fangs showing again. This power..... it would ocme in handy to aid him in his ultimate goal. Draco continues flying overhead, a large, icy region being in sight..............

The air was still salty at the outer rim of the jungle. The trees werent densely packed, and they were lacking in stature. There were mostly palm trees leaning to and fro with the oceanic winds. The skies up above were a fiery orange in the hours of dawn. So far, all was quiet, save the cries of the sea birds in the distance and the chirping of those in the canopy. Nothing dangerous- yet. So far, this place seemed nice. Maybe the armored being would stay around here, where the unique, salty smell of the ocean mixed with the crisp smell of the jungle, whipped about by the winds...

The silence. It was...horrifying. Despite the lively jungle around it, the silence in its mind drove it insane. The creature was so connected to the Hive Mind-the single consciousness of its entire race-that it felt the countless aliens that comprised it. Now...it was alone. Nothing. It now possessed its own thoughts, not the thoughts of many. The creature was left, stiff as a statue, amongst the thick foliage, unable to think of what to do. Without the command of the Hive Mind, it felt confused and useless...

"Wat ya doin' ya buggy git? MOVE!" a voice roared to its side, the hulking beast whirling around instinctively, bone sabres raised. What it saw sent it back into its state of utter confusion. It was an ork, a warboss...but not just any warboss. It was the warboss Gorgluk, one it had slain with its own claws. "Stop starin at me, nid! Do ya even have eyes?! I can't even tell, ya so damn ugly!" the ork growled, laughing loudly at its own joke. The Tyranid beast lashed out with its sabres, piercing two into the ork's chest within a split second, lashing out with a clawed foot as it kicked the ork to the ground and off its weapons. The green giant fell to the ground with a loud crash, apparently dead. Again.

"If such a fate were permanent." another voice commented calmly, the beast once again turning to face its new adversary...and again it was left confused. A human, another ghost from its past...Calgar, chapter master of the Ultramarines. They had been the target of the first invasion: A defeat for the Tyranids, but a success in identifying their new prey. "The greenskin is not dead, beast. Surely your intelligence has not degraded that much since our last meeting." Calgar stated smugly, just as the hulking green creature got back to its feet, hands grasping at the gaping wounds on its chest. "Oy, ya ruined me favorite arma! I JUST 'AD DIS CLEANED!" Gorgluk roared, punching the Tyranid square in the face, sending it stumbling back. Though it was a physical attack, it did not damage the beast, strangely. "AGH! Ya spiky bitz hurt me hand!" the ork wailed, cradling its hand, which appeared to be fine. The human covered his face with his palm, mumbling something to himself...

The plants rustled noisilly as Desrium continued to force his way through the foliage. He'd occassionally hack at the vines that would hang from the trees, which gradually grew bigger, had darker bark and were covered in moss. The light of the rising sun was blocked by the leaves, which were bright green. Little rays of lights made their way to the leaf litter however. By now the armored being heard grumbling, loud, obnoxious grumbling. The words were muffled when they reached Desrium's ears when he first heard them, but they slowly got clearer as he pressed on. By now he knew they were complaints from a brutish sounding being. With the curiosity of an explorer, Desrium approached the scene...

Soaring over the crest of the hill, Raven swept his view across the landscape, taking in as much as he could. He watched a pack of wolves below, moving through the sparse forest after a pair of moose like creatures. "Ripple, wake up." The small dragonfly moved up onto his shoulder, but remained silent. Raven didn't pester it, he wanted to savour the moment of having proved it wrong once again. He banked to the right, still ascending...

Looking up, Chaos spots a strange creature flying towards the tundra. "Now what the hell could that be?" His Lexicon soon aranged itself as a gun. "Let's see what it looks like up-close... and dead." Chaos shot at the creature numerous times, blasting it with red etheral bullets, then started to run after it.

The bullets fly through the air before hitting Draco in the shoulders, the thick plate armor protecting him from the brunt of the damage. So, someone wanted a fight? They would get a fight. Letting out a loud roar, draco soars overhead towards the being's location, his blade glistening red............

Seeing the creature near, Chaos countinues to shoot the beast, now aiming for its eyes. "Still not doing much damage..." Chaos teleported onto the creature's armored back and began to fire point-blank at its head. "WHY WON'T YOU DIE!?!?"

Draco roars from the shots, feeling blood running from his head. This being......... he had caught him by surprise. Not again, though. Draco drops downwards, making the being fall before he shoots a pillar of flame at him from his blade..................

OOC: I would think you would realize that going for a killblow 2 posts into a fight is bad...........

((You're armored. I had no idea of knowing whether that was a kill blow or not. Will avoid that in the future.))

Chaos rolled away from the flame pillar, droping his Lexicon in the process. Something told him he needed that Lexicon to survive. He dove for it, stopping mere inches away. "I have to grab that... fast." Reaching for his Lexicon, Chaos was oblivious to everything else.

OOC: This is Dreamworld. there are no rules against lethality. Raptor33 can you shoot you all he wants, and you are well within your rights to turn around and behead him. As long as common sense is used, you are fine. If you feel something was unfair, then say so, and have a reason why.
Also:
((A Lexicon is one of those weird shapeshifting books. But you should know that... I think.))

You dont get to decide what he SHOULD know. What's more, he didn't ask. Stop making useless and obnoxious OOC's

Raven landed into the snow with a thud, grinning. He hissed "I told you it would work... Look at it..." Ripple replied distastefully "Oh please, you don't know that for sure yet..." Raven ignored him, beginning to laugh and shouting out "This place is PERFECT!"

He laughed into the air, only to hear a deep growl from behind him, the feathery wizard looking over his shoulder, to see large polar bear striding towards, eyeing him hungrily... Ripple hissed into his ear "Perfect!"

The Tyranid beast turned toward the foliage surrounding it, highly trained senses detecting another creature...one much larger then the lifeforms living in the trees. "You are not alone here. Perhaps it is your precious army?" Calgar said smugly, the Tyrant resisting the urge to behead the pathetic creature. "I dun care wat it is, KILL IT! I'm sick'a this talkin'!" the warboss growled, smashing its hand against a nearby tree, sending splintered bark in all directions...

"For goodness sake" Desrium spoke to the orc as he forced his way through the last line of plants seperating him and the trio. His voice was neutral despite what he said, but wasnt monotonous. He had both hands on the hilt of his sword and held it off to his side, having heard what the orc said. "Its so early in the morning and this place is so peaceful" He continued. "It doesnt need your harsh voice banging against the ear drums of its inhabitants" His red gaze turned from the orc to the beings it was with. The human was out of place in this group. Contrasting heavilly from the brute orc to the six limbed creature with spikes and spurs sticking out from its limbs, and ornate horns on its head, like some sort of twisted cross between a rhino and a roach.

Darcia and Uncle Bob entered a bar in the dowtown of the city of dreams, the place was packed but they were able to find two empty stools. The bartender took one look and noticed something was off with uncle bob. Uncle bob noticed this and began to stare at the bar tender causing him to turn away. Two men approched darcia from behind and grabbed him by the shoulder.

" We dont like your here " he said.

" We know what you are, you freak" the second man said.

Darcian ignored them and turned to uncle bob and whispered something into his ear. Uncle Bob got up and grabbed the first man by the ear and throw him out the window causing glass to fly into the bar. The second man hit Uncle Bob on the head with a pool stick, uncle bob turned around and grabbed him by the skruff of his hair. He throw him into a wall knocking the man out. Darcia laughted as he finished his drink and left with Uncle Bob
