Brutus nods before saying, "Alright. Make yourselves at home." The commander takes a bow before he heads back towards the main city, his Mauler guards glancing back one last tiem before following quickly.....

Construction of the buildings were beginning quickly, a small settlement being prepared for everyone living in the ship. Ryan sat down on a rock, the man resting his right forearm on his knee, while watching everything go on. Some tents were being set up for engineers and others, while the scientists continued on researching and studying the new enviroment, but could already tell it was good for the humans to inhabit...

The commander makes a quick hand gesture, tellnig the legioniares to go back into the city. It was laways good to have settlers on this relatively empty and citizenless planet.....

A couple squads of soldiers and a few sentinels soon came out of the ship by the ramp, before starting to either escort the scientists deeper within the jungle or guarded the camp itself. Others moved to help the engineers build, wanting to have somewhere descent to live at as soon as possible...

The mining facillity was completed in a short amount of time. The structure was smaller than the actual base above, and was built into the walls of the chasm, spanning across the bottom of the dark drop. It was made of the same dull silver metal, with the glowing red strip of energy running across the wall casting off the shadows. The area around the facillity was bathed in a soft red light, revealing jagged rocks that jutted from the very bottom of the chasm. Overhead, there were many outcrops extending from the two sides of the chasm. Some outcrops extended all the way across, forming natrual bridges. Strange vine like growths covered the walls and hung down from the outcrops, the growths being a sickly green in color. It was clear that the Orakians that would venture out on this alien world would need to keep their space suits on. As for the mining facillity itself, it was completely automated. Once its start up power generator activated, the base sent out drill-cables to tap into geothermal hotspots, while autonomous assembly machinery constructed mining drones and transports that would relay resources to the main base above. The first wave of mining droids were produced quickly, small simple robots that the builder mechs towered over. The droids were made out of an obsidian metal and were fitted with a tread mounted chasis. The treads were brown in color. The body of the robots was a dome atop the chasis, four mechanical arms attached to it. At the front of the robots was a circular panel with the machines' optical sensors. One sensor was a short telescopic lense. The other was blue and slightly longer. The last was green, and was just about flat on the panel. The robots would cycle through the different views whenever nessecary, making a low whirring noise when they did. One of the robots' arms was mounted with a high precision sustained heat laser, useful in carving through the rock walls. On another was a silver corkscrew drill, for extracting ore. The other two arms were for manipulation purposes, moving obstacles or holding large chunks of ore. These were fitted with four multisegmented, broad fingers on circular hands. They made an X shape when all fingers were extended at once. On their back, the robots had a cylindrical resource storage cache to keep their finds. The droids moved out, cycling through their optics, scanning their enviroment on an atomic level as they searched for valuable resources. By now the builder mechs had left, shooting back to the surface with specially fitted jets on the walkers’ sides, the engines roaring as they propelled the large robots upwards.

The Combine Gunship cut down more rockets as it retreated from the attack, apparently deterred. However, the Combine infantry stayed, firing their weapons up at the mech, while another flying menace began closing in...

The mech's shielding is quickly depleted from the assault but fires again, unaware of the other aerial threat, the arc cannon's bolts striking multiple combine soldiers.........

The Hunter-Chopper, made specifically for tracking and taking down particularly dangerous targets, appeared from over the treetops, firing a single, high-velocity missiles at the mech's watchtower, blowing it apart and knocking it down...

The mech plummets to the earth and hits the groudn with an audible thump, but it recovers and fires an EMP at the ship before unleashign a flurry of missiles at it. It then fires its arc cannon at the infantry again......

The Hunter-Chopper dodged the EMP burst and several rockets, but took a few direct hits, wobbling in the air for a moment, before returning fire with its chin-mounted chaingun. It began strafing the area around the mech, and dropped a large, gray spherical device with red blinking lights encircling it as it did so. The mine landed near the mech and exploded violently, the blast enveloping the mech completely...

The chaingun rounds did little damage to the mech's armor plating, the the explosion sends the mech hurtling back a good ten feet. The mech pulls itself back up, armor fallnig off of soem parts of it, before it fires another EMP and its arc cannon.....

Construction was soon comeplete by the engineers and others, a few buildings now standing in front of them. Some went in to make themselves at home, while others began to build more structures around the area. The squad of soldiers and scientists went further into the jungle, while the other squad continued guarding the slowly rising settlement...

The Hunter-Chopper continued its agile strafing, dodging the EMP burst again and dropping several more mines as it made more passes with the chaingun, literally surrounding the mech with explosives...

The bomba wreck the machine's internal and external systems, blowing off big hunks of armor, and one limb being ruined beyond repair, reducing its EMP launcher to a fancy club. The mech launches one last flurry of rockets before it it uses its jets to fly up to the hunter-chopper's level......

As the mech grew closer, the Hunter-Chopper buzzed away, evading many of the missiles, its armored hide scorched, but mostly undamaged. The pulse cannon fired on the flying mech, being far more accurate at close-range, pushing the mech away from it...

The mech takes the hit to the chest, blwoing off its chest armor and setting it on fire. The mech jets upwards and flies towards the hunter-chopper......

The Hunter-Chopper continues to fire, backing away from the incoming mech and pounding it mercilessly with its pulse cannon to try and keep the machine at bay...

After a few more seconds of the pounding, the mech's jets stop before it plumemts towards the earth. It hits the ground with a thump, flames beginning to gather from it.......

Making sure the mech was destroyed, the Hunter-Chopper fired a single missile at the downed machine and obliterated it in a massive explosion. The flying menace buzzed away after that, looking for more stubborn targets, while the rest of the Combine continued their patrols...

When the mechs touched down on the rock face before the sheer drop, the pilots saw their fellow workers erecting defences around the area. Other construction mechs that werent working on the mining depot were now almost finished installing huge turrets. The harvesters had been used to create large depressions in the rocky ground, allowing the builders to build the turrets in them. Once completed, the turrets would be able to rise into place and fire when needed. The holes would be covered by a hatch that would split apart and let the guns slide into position. The guns themselves were a light grey in color attached to large semicircular bases that had cables extending from them, meeting up with the main generator at the base. They would fire plasma energy bolts, the crackling green beams having an explosive quality when they hit their marks. The construction mechs that werent busy with the turrets were building a larger wall to protect the base's perimeter, with several sections already in place, some taller than others. It would wrap around the base at a 10 yard radius and be 20 feet tall once complete. It would be thick at the base, thinning out at the top, allowing small deployable turret defences to be installed. The returning mechs quickly got to work on this new project. All the while, occupying forces were being released from the Foidaria, Orakians and vehicles alike moving down the ramp and into the base. It wouldnt be long until the base was complete, fortified and up and running, and other bases like this one were surely being set up by other ships across the galaxy. The construction of the wall and its defenses would be completed even faster once the turret system was finished.
