The scientists continued studying all the plants and wildlife they could on the planet, while soldiers guarded them from all sides. Construction continued on, a small village already set up by all the engineers and drones that were working together...

The Sheekh legion stands guard over the city, watching voer the colnoy from the Savannah....

Some strange, panther like creatures attack the combine forces from one of the nearby forests.....

Some tents were set up by civillians and soldiers all around the forming colony, those that set them up soon going inside of them to rest for the moment. The engineers kept up the work, a few taking a short break to rest as the others continued building the structures...

MOTHER enters her pod, relatively healed, before rocketing off of the planet......

Rukh decides to do something about the loss of the colony. He opens up his communicator and says, "Station 9? This is General Rukh. Do you read?" "Roger, Rukh. Read ya loud and clear," a female Sheekh radioer says. "Excellent. Recent activities on Colony 5520 suggest conquest. We require you to do something about said situation- not allowing this foe to get foothold." "You don't mean-" "Yes I do. Destroy the surface's resources." "No!" the radieor says. "That's monstrous!" "Would you rathwe lose one planet, or the whole empire?" Rukh hisses. The radioer pauses. "Alright..." she replies. "Understood, general. Over and out."

The panther-like beasts are systematically cut down by the omnipresent Combine patrols...

Meanwhile, several more Combine Cruisers and Carriers (which bore a striking similarity to their dropships) had arrived over Colony 5520, and were proceeding to drop not only Headcrab rockets, but various other seed-like pods, many of them carrying foul beasts native to the Combine Overworld. If the Combine were to keep this planet under control, they would have to replace its ecosystem with their own...

The radioer telsl everyone on the space station of the situation, and the massive battle machine begins to activate. "Deflector shields activating...." "Deflector shields online," a computer responds to the engineer. "Barrier shields activating...." "Barrier shields online." "Boarding shields activating...." Boarding shields online." "Laser turrets activating..." "Laser turrets online." "Wave motion guns activating..." Wave motion guns online." EMP missile launchers activating...." "EMP missile launchers online." "Terminator cannon activating..." The computer pauses. "Terminator cannon online." "Excellent," the pilot of the station says. "Let's go to that colony and clean it up!" the staion's engines whir to life as it begins to head towards the colony.....

Rukh establishes radio connections to the station, so he can communicate with the other beings as well that they encounter...

The people kept up construction, mostly the engineers and drones doing the work, however. Soldiers kept up the guarding for the time being, for both those constructing the colony and the scientists going deeper into the jungle itself...

The space station continues on its path towards the colony. It was moving slow, but it would eventually reach the colony....

MOTHER's pod hurtles away form colony 5520 as she heads back on a course towards Grehn.....

Finally, the base was complete, its defenses online. The wall was an almost perfect circle, save for the parallel segments that extended out to the chasm. A large metalic orb was placed here with cables trailing out from it and ancoring into the ground. The reception facillity for the minining base below. the wall was slanted inwards slightly, forming a steep incline around the base. Petruding from the wall near the top were small spires. Small scale energy cannons. Sections of the gray-silver barrier were mechanically controlled, and could be lifted up to allow exploration vehicles to venture out across the rocky landscape. With the completion of the project, the construction mechs headed into the base, their work finished for now. There would certainly be more structures to build in the future however, and so they will stay with the colony, bettering the settlement over time.

The space station continued on its track towards the colony. It was still a good distance away form it; the colossal construct would move very slowly.

Rukh enters a strange chamber before he bows before a small wrehn. "Master Liin," Rukh says. "Teach me the ways of psionics. I require more strength than I possibly imagined." The wrehn gets up. "Very well," the diminutive creature replies. "I will teach you the ways of the psion. First, however, I will need to evaluate your strength. Lift that hunk of steel over there." Rukh bows before he moves towards the giant hunk of steel. He attempts to lift it, but is physically straining whilst attempting to do so. He stops, huffs, and gives a deep breath. "I am not to that level, master. It is too heavy for me right now." Liin says, "Then I have much to teach you. You stuggle with one of the most basic of psionic techniques. I will still need to teach you the kinds of shielding, psionic assaults, mind probing...." Rukh sighs. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all......

The engineers and drones finally cease to work after some time, being done with a small village just large enough to fit atleast 500 to 750 civillians. Sentries and sentinels float around as they examine this new place, some still filming all they could at the time. On the new Combine-controlled planet, the supposedly destroyed sentinel beeped as it slowly pulled itself from the ground, needing critical repairs from the intense damage on it. Luckily, though, it could still, but just barely, move around, and was starting to lift itself up into the sky, followed by a couple of re-awakening and damaged sentries. The latter of the three started recording everything it saw with it's built-in camera, the other's badly damaged like it's communicator, having the only one left from the battle...

By now, the Vespid exploration force had already released small drones back into space to conduct the analysis of the nearby celestial bodies. It would take some time before they would have accurate data, and in the mean time the Vespid continued to fortify the base, making it more efficient for the armored insectoids...

In time, the probes scouring the the area close to the burning giant would find that there was activity on the third planet, a small rocky world with several moons. The moons themselves were nothing more but relatively small space rock trapped by the planet's gravity eons ago. Many bases had been created on the major continents of the world, with some being the size of massive cities, giant silver tunnels branching out over the surface and below to surrounding settlements. The first planet added to the Hai'Orak empire was the most developed, economically and millitaristically.

The two sentries scout around, while the sentinel uses some arms from it's body and starts picking up scrap metal nearby. It could atleast fix up some holes and others damage done to it, but not repair it's controls or anything else at the time. One sentry flies towards the Combines on the ground, monitoring them with both the camera and it's single eye...

"Sir." one Vespid said, drawing the team leader's attention. "We've detected an inhabited planet, sir. Initial scans indicate its rich in minerals."

"Give them the Ultimatum." The lead Vespid responded, turning away, as the probe attempted to contact the inhabitants below...

The sentries keep on scouting around the remains of the old colony owned by a new, yet-to-be trusted ally, scanning the area and making sure no Combine came near. The sentinel keeps on fixing itself up, it's rotating eye watching the area nearby for any possible threats.

Meanwhile, on the slowly forming colony, both lieutenant Ryan and sergeant Amanda walked along, inspecting their platoon of soldiers and the current construction sites. The later of the two, though, kept her eye on her close childhood friend, a slight smile on her face as she walked at the same pace as Harrison...

The sentry watching the Combine was quickly blasted out of the sky by a nearby Hunter-Chopper, the omnipresent Combine keeping a careful eye on every area of the planet with their own airborne Scanners...

A single Scanner moved from the trees and towards the damaged Sentinel, its glowing eye flashing as it took a snapshot of the machine, hovering at a distance as it continued to watch...

The other sentry, small enough to move quickly, evaded the hunter-chopper and flew back to it's larger, damaged comrade, before going to it to help with repairs...

The Hunter-Chopper pursued, using the Scanner that was watching the Sentinel to keep up with the little sentry. Its pilot radioed to other nearby Combine forces, telling them to follow. This time, the machine wouldn't be so lucky to escape...

The sentry sped along, while the sentinel slowly lifted itself and hovered along towards the trees to escape with it's quick comrade, the one with the functioning camera.

Amanda keeps walking with Ryan even after the short inspection, looking for something to say to her friend. "Why can't I talk to him?! I mean, ugh!" the sergeant thought to herself, while the Harrison asked, "something wrong, sergeant?"
