Jacob watched as the situation changed slowly. typical. things never went according to 'the plan'. But then, that was one reason why he was here and not some other washed out former soldier...

"Why am I not suprised" David thought, his focus still on his gun despite the time that had passed. The only sign that he acknowledged the news was a brief shake of his head. "You can never listen to these pencil pushing ********" he continued, swinging the weapon about so that it rested on his back again.

Barnes, noting everyone's silent irritation, said nothing more, and leaned back again, checking his own weapons. Dodgson decided to put his papers back in his briefcase, tapping its leather surface with his fingers impatiently...

The pilot looked to his left for a moment, seeing the darkening clouds in the distance hovering over the blue expanse of ocean. He decided to push his bird a bit faster, trying to get to the island as quickly as possible, which could already be seen cresting the horizon significantly. His co-pilot did him the courtesy of warning the passengers via a small PA speaker in the crew compartment: "The island is in sight, ETA 20 minutes at current speed."

"20 minutes to our little camping trip" David muttered under his breath, his eyes drifting out a window, catching a glimpse of a small bit of the island's coast, a sandy beach with gradually thickening vegetation inland. It was completely inconspicuous- though given the dealings being done on it, that was probably intentional

Maxwell nods and looks towards the island laying ahead. "Hear we go...."

Riley starts humming as he shuts his eyes while listening to the music playing on his MP3, relaxing as the Osprey neared their destination...

Rick was again drawn out of his previous thoughts, now thinking only about the mission. He did a quick final check of his hand gun, making sure that it's magazine was full. He had double checked his other gun before the questions had been asked, but felt that a final check of his secondary weapon wouldn't hurt, especially since they would be getting right down to buisness once they got out of the Osprey...

By the time they arrived at the island, the sky overhead was dark and cloudy, and rain lightly pattered against the Osprey's cockpit window. The island itself appeared absolutely huge from this close, cover in thick forest over much of its expanse. As the Osprey converted back to a VTOL aircraft and lowered itself towards the island, the pilot called out, "I see a clearing. I'm setting her down until the storm passes." Barnes replied, "Good job, pilot." He looked around, seeing that everyone else seemed quite relaxed considering their situation...

The Osprey somewhat shakily settled down in a large, now-wet clearing surrounded on all sides by trees, and Barnes unhooked himself from his seat, moving to the closed rear hatch and unrolling a long curtain of clear plastic from the ceiling. The curtain covered the rear hatch perfectly, made to keep the rain out. "Alright, open the hatch." As the hatch lowered with a muted hiss drowned out by the rain, which was growing heavier by the second, Barnes moved past the curtain and unfolded an M240 machine gun turret that had been sitting against what was now the loading ramp. He quickly ducked back inside and barked, "Masaki, man the gun! Keep an eye on the treeline if you can. We don't want to get ambushed."

David raised an eyebrow when he got a glimpse of the large rifle. Immediately questions started to jump out at him. Why did they need such a powerful weapon? Any dangerous animals would have been spooked by the roar of the Osprey's engines and even on the off chance one was attracted to the aircraft, the weaponry each mercenary carried was more than enough to handle the situation. The possibility that the island base was taken by millitant forces became much for likely...an extremely dangerous force if such powerful guns were brought along.

OOC: Ospreys have a M240 machine gun turret on the loading ramp as a standard armament, CS. No point in getting rid of it if they don't have too. :P

Banres sat back down, brushing droplets from his fatigues and cursing under his breath. "This d*mn rain better pass soon..." he muttered.

Maxwell grumbled udner his breath, "I hate the damned rain..." before he turns to Barnes. "How long do you think we'll be staying here?"

Barnes shrugged. "Probably half an hour maybe? The storm's moving pretty fast..." He flinched slightly at a sudden crash of thunder dangerously close by. He always hated thunder, even since he was a child...

Maxwell nods and flinches from the thunder. He then goes back to reading his book, trynig to keep his mind off of the storm raging outside...

Barnes jumped again, but not because of the thunder. He couldn't explain the cry that echoed over the forest, resounding even over the pounding rain. A loud, booming bellow that was unlike anything he had ever heard before. It seemed he wasn't the only one who noticed either. Several of the mercenaries were suddenly alert, a couple whispering to each other, and Dodgson was sitting straight as a rod, his eyes peering out of the troop compartment and into the forest outside...

Hiero was about to sit down at the M240 when he heard the roar that gripped him with fear. He had heard Tigers roar before but this was much louder, bigger, and unknown to him. Hiero turned around towards the suited man, "Care to explain what that was... sir."

Dodgson didn't seem to hear Hiero, quickly turning back to his briefcase and checking the items inside busily. Barnes stare at him suspiciously, but said nothing. "Masaki, get on the gun and keep an eye out. Whatever that was, it was far away. We have more immediate concerns right now."

At the edge of the trees, something watched the Osprey, more curious than hungry at the moment. Its skin seemed to shift in color, rendering it nearly invisible, further enhanced by the heavy downpour and the trees around it...

"Well I'll be damned" was all David said, leaning back in his chair. "Just what the hell did we get dragged into?" He said, his eyes falling on Barnes. He hadnt heard anything like that before. It was no explosion, even though it was just as loud as one. No, that was something completely different and it carried with the furious wind in all directions.

"Probably one of the animals," Barnes said, shrugging. He barely convinced himself, though. The biggest reptile on Earth didn't roar like that, and no bird was even close enough to match it either...

Rick looked up in suprise at the sound of the roar that was heard. Despite the words of his commander, he was feeling a little uneased by the sound, though he didn't show his unease. He thought to himself:"Let's hope that whatever made that roar does stay far away from us."

"Well then, perhaps we'd best prepare to deal with these....animals" said Jacob, though barely audible over the noise of the aircraft and the downpour. the man watched the island below through his shades, holding onto one of the shades' stems, pulling it down enough to let him have a better look at the ground below. his eyesight was remarkable by most people's standards. even with the shades on in the storm, he had no trouble seeing. but a bit more clarity was never a bad thing...
