"Now who said I was going to be involved?" Bladecrest asked innocently as he crossed the river. He cackled as he pushed his way back into the forest on the other side...

"Fate has a way of tying others together....We will see soon enough whether you are or not" hissed Ripper loudly after the Dilophosaur, before turning to Howler, Rhojis and Sylicora. "Are you three OK?" he hissed...

Hazel started to walk off again, her energy restored. She was moving along a curved path through the jungle that would take the two raptors back to their make shift settlement, compensating for the deviation from the brown female's dash. All the while she was careful to check the undergrowth around her for movement, not wanting to be chased by another lurking predator. "And to think Aircrest provokes predators for fun!" Hazel thought, snorting.

Still breathing fast from their their sudden dash and looking decidedly shaken, Rhojis simply nodded, his eyes quickly returning to his sister, who let out a soft hiss as she accidentally scratched herself with a shaky claw tip trying to scrape away the black venom she'd smeared on her arm. "It shot me with... whatever this stuff is that stings, and I can't get it off," she hissed, trying not to let her voice quaver too much. She wished the elder hadn't seen how she had panicked, but at the same time, was immensely grateful he'd chosen that moment to be there. But, she reminded herself, if she hadn't panicked and hit the tree, she might not have needed saving in the first place. "Thanks for that..." she murmured, slightly embarrassed...

"No thanks is necessary. but wash that venom off. it'll paralyse you if it's left there. even worse if it gets into a wound" hissed the Elder. he glanced at Rhojis, then Howler, then back to Sylicora. "Where's Fatalis?" he inquired...

"We were hunting Tenontosaurus, and a Deinosuchus dragged our target, and him, into the river," Howler explained, his voice shaky as well, not making eye contact with any of his packmates. "He, uh, might have washed up somewhere over here..." He felt guilty and cowardly for running without checking to see if Rhojis and Sylicora were okay, and letting Sy almost get killed, but he did his best not to show it...

Gothmog retruns to where he had marked his territory- a small arch of rock at the edge of the wasteland. Grunting, the giga lies down where he was and begins to rest after his possibly dangerous encounter.....

Lestrus watches over her family with a stern eye, the old carnotaurus also scanning for potential threats....

"And what of your other packmates. do they know?" hissed Ripper, seeming somewhat distant, as if he were thinking of several different things simultaneously...

"Yeah," Howler replied. He chuckled quietly. "They were the first ones to run after where he disappeared..."

Rose followed in Hazel's footsteps, still somewhat twitchy and nervous. That...had been a close call. She'd had too many of those in her short life. As if in response to the memory, the scar on her shoulder - left by a mutant when she was just a hatchling - seemed to twinge. She didn't remember much about getting the injury except for the sheer pain and the feeling of the raptor's claw scraping against bone. Sometimes she wished she remembered more - like if the mutant had lived through that incident, or what he looked like. Not that that would be useful to me now, the pale young raptor thought, almost bitter. She remembered it had been another mutant who had taken her eyesight from her. I guess he expected I would die. Now she really was bitter. She hadn't died. Sometimes she wished she had. She was stuck never being able to hunt again. She would never be able to see the face of her mother or father again, never see anything again. The worst part of it all was that she remembered seeing, remembered what things looked like. If she thought about it all too long, it was almost enough to make her wish that one of her close calls hadn't been a near miss.

Ruby nodded again. "Let's go." She made eye contact with Blackstripe for a moment, then Whitestreak, and they smoothly fell into step beside Fatalis, ready to help him regain his balance if he stumbled. Ice and Fire ran ahead, then ran back, excited by the stranger's presence and eager to get home.

Howler shrugged. "Well, I don't think I've ever seen a raptor run that fast is all..."

"The one Raptor that took it upon himself to help you climb out of the pit you call a life, the long string of failures you've suffered throughout your miserable existence, just got pulled into the water by a Deinosuchus, is either drowning, got washed up somewhere or torn apart by the crocs, and all you can do is laugh at the loyal ones that went after him to try and help?" hissed Ripper, disgust dripping off every word. "Some things evidently never change. You're no better now than when you were helping Bladetooth. Perhaps Crusher should have killed you along with him that day" snarled the Elder as he turned to Rhojis and Sylicora, having lost all respect for their companion, not even considering him worth a glance. "I'll do what I can to help you find him, if he's alive. Remember what Fatalis has taught you. Teamwork will be your greatest tool in the times ahead" he growled to the two Raptors. "Learn from what just happened. An enemy won't attack a target he thinks can beat them. the Dilophosaur attacked because you weren't working together. And not using teamwork made you easy targets" he explained...

Fatalis walked with the other Raptors, placing his steps carefully, his mind working franticly to figure out just what had happened to him. he had a rough idea, but the fact he didn't actively remember it scared him...he couldn't....remember...

Howler was frozen in place, staring blankly at Ripper as if he had just been struck. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out, just a slight whimper. The raptor felt his legs start to give, and he staggered backwards, leaning against a tree and just letting gravity pull him to the ground, his face not changing in expression the whole time...

Sylicora and Rhojis exchanged identical looks of only partly suppressed shock, neither knowing much about Howler's past. They listened to the elder's advice in stunned silence, the green raptor nodding slightly as she took it in, trying to think how things would have gone if they hadn't all panicked and run. Rhojis too took note, though he was slightly more distracted by a thought that nagged at the back of his mind. If they had been working as a team, they wouldn't have let Sy fall so far behind, wouldn't have let her get into such danger alone. If Ripper hadn't been there, would Rhojis have been able to turn back in time to do any good? The thought continued to eat at him, and he made a promise to himself to work on it. Sylicora looked as though the idea had finally sunk in too. Now they would both take teamwork more seriously. "We'll remember that... I just need to figure out how to stop panicking at the first sign of... ouch," the green raptor hissed, wincing slightly as a drop of venom slid over the small scrape on her arm...

Each Lili gave a nod of gratitude, Haze hissing from her spot on the ground, "Very much appreciated. Maybe now this ankle can have a chance to fully heal, and I can finally be of some use again..."

"Clean that Sylicora. You won't be able to work as a team very well if you can't move. That venom can paralyse you" hissed the Elder. "As for learning not to panic, just consider the fact that however things are going, it can go much, much worse if you lose focus and panic" he added, eyeing Rhojis now, seeing the look in the Raptor's eye, his expression softening. he recognised that look. he knew it very well...

The matriarch Carnotaur approaches her mate. "Odin, I believe it is time for the hunt." The smaller male responds, "Should I stay behind and watch the children?" Lestrus says, "No... it is time for my children to hunt their first quarry." Odin replies, "What should they hunt?" "Nothing too big..... but it must be reasonably sized." Odin nods before he goes to get the children...

Razorjaw watched patiently in the cover of a grove of conifer trees, watching the herd of corythosaurus lazily grazing on vegetation. While they looked completely focussed on their grazing Razorjaw knew that the slightest wrong move or noise would set them all into a stampede across the plains.Razorjaw has a daspletosaurus in his prime,he had reached near maximum size for his species in both weight and length and was as powerful and fast as he would ever get.His size had many advantages, while he was far from the biggest predator on the island but he definitely wasn't the smallest, this position meant that he could bully many a species of carnivore from their kills although he did prefer to do so when the were alone and not in groups.Scavenging from other predators was fine, but like most predators of his size he preferred fresh meat to meat that had been rotting for who knows how long and this is what brought him to stalking this herd of corythosaurs. The stripes that ran from the back of his head all the way down to his tail and the femur area of his leg made excellent camouflage in the dappled light under the conifers. He prepared for the right moment to strike, powerful legs at the ready, eyes fixed on the herd, globules of saliva dripping from his maw.He had to make this perfect,he could see one of the corythosaurs scanning the area it was on a kind of sentry duty, keeping an eye out for predators it was this individual that Razorjaw had to be most careful about,if he betrayed his movements to it then it would start screaming warning calls and send the herd scattering. So Razorjaw waited until the sentry let it's guard down for just one moment, just one second and then he striked.

Razorjaw charged out of the conifer grove, his powerful legs running at their fastest, running straight at the herd. The sentry bellowed a call to alert the herd of Razorjaw's presence, but it was already to late for the herd to have been one step ahead of Razorjaw now.The mighty carnivore chased after the herd and started harassing the herds members,Razorjaw was using an old trick used by many carnivores before him and one many would use after him he was breaking the herd up to exposed the weakest, the young, the old and the sick. The herd ran on but one lagged behind,it appeared to have a limp and this was just what Razorjaw was hoping for,he focused his efforts on chasing this individual corythosaurus who, seeming to notice this began limping faster and bellowing loudly to try and catch up with it's companions who were quickly out pacing it.

Razorjaw ran ever faster to close the gap on this straggler who had begun to slow down through exhaustion,Razorjaw made one last exert of strength to propel himself forward to sink his jaws into the back leg hind leg of the doomed corythosaurus, the herbivore cried out in pain as it was brought down to the ground by the weight of Razorjaw who wrestled it to the ground. To finish of a successful hunt Razorjaw sunk his teeth into the neck on his prey, killing it instantly.Razorjaw began to eat his prize greedily,in the days when daspletosaurs roamed the open plains of Alberta 77 million years ago they hunted in groups, groups in the sense that some individuals would chase a prey item into the waiting jaws of another(in most cases the chasers would have been the younger, faster daspletosaurs and the ones in wait would have been their elders or even parents)but things are different for Razorjaw, with few daspletosaurs on the island few of which were known to him,he had to learn to hunt on his own at an early age and it served him well.He could chase down his prey and never need assistance in doing so,he was an independent predator. This kill would keep him fed for a few days,he ate his fill and proceeded to rest under the shade of a nearby tree close to the kill.He drifted off to sleep, thoughts of hunting and eating filling his mind.

Stoneface steps to the edge of the forest. He takes several whiffs of the air and observes the plains before him. Hesitant, he barks himself to take the first step to his new life. He clears the shadows of the trees and steps on flat soft dirt free of roots and rotting trunks. The sun warms his dark green pebbly skin and he feels a new energy come to his short strong legs. He begins to jog down to the nearest pond and stares at himself in the cool clear water.
Excited at his first day of plain living he hungrily takes a lap of the water before a large ugly beast takes a nip of his lower jaw. Not pulling back fast enough cost him the creature hanging on to his jaw with vigor. A short whine escaped Stoneface's mouth before he remembered he was a sub-adult. Turning his pain into fury Stoneface locked eyes with his advesary. A large crocodile nearly as long as him struggled to pull him into the water.
Stoneface growled and bit down on his enemy's top jaw and started working his way back away from the water. Lifting his head off the ground Stoneface twisted his head and sharply snapped it back. He felt something give way in his mouth and then a heavy weight drop off him. Looking down he saw the croc turn around quickly headed for the water, cockiness got the best of him and Stoneface went in for the attack as the crocodile whipped his tail. Stoneface felt his jaw pop then pain spread throughout.
The croc was only feet from the water when Stoneface grew enraged and leapt forward landing on its back. He used his three clawed finger to rake the crocodiles eyes and neck. Suddenly the croco threw him off his back and rolled over him. Before he could react the crocodile bit down on his left arm and instinct took over. Stoneface used his right arm to roll over the croc and with his powerful jaws he ripped the flesh from its neck and didn't stop biting until it was stiff and his belly was bulging and his eyelids heavier than he could stand.
