Streamflower and Darkflower were fighting back to back, their moves well-matched and accurate after moons of training together. Lightfrost was battling the same tom from the patrol that sunhigh, both bearing wounds from the other's claws. "Whitestar will claim the Sunningrocks for RiverClan!" the RiverClan tom snarled. "In his dreams, maybe!" Lightfrost yowled, shredding one of the tom's ears with his claws. Streamflower was knocked to the ground by a RiverClan she-cat, who started slashing at the ThunderClan cat's underbelly with her hind claws. Streamclaw yowled in agony and kicked her opponent off, sending her flying halfway across the clearing, where the RiverClan cat lay for a minute, stunned.

Shadowstar was duking it out with two toms at once, ducking occasionally and making them bang skulls. At one point, she slashed one's underbelly and sent it running out of the camp, but the other was more skillfull. He wasn't letting her pin him long enough to start slashing.

The two cats Spottednose had been fighting fled, but a third jumped on his back from behind and pinned him. He hissed, "A little help here?!"

Firestreak bounded over to the fallen ThunderClan warrior, slashing the RiverClan cat across his shoulder, sending him falling to the ground. Firestreak pounced over Spottednose, landing onto the the Warrior cat beside him, the two toms now rolling across the clearing, biting and slashing at eachother.

Spottednose got up and watched the two toms roll and fight.

Shadowstar yowled and pounced onto the RiverClan tom, bowling him over and fastening her teeth in his shoulder, biting down hard. She felt her teeth scrape bone, and let the warrior go when he squealed. He bolted for the camp entrance, Shadowstar turning to the nearest RiverClan warrior and pouncing, snapping her jaws shut a mouse-length from the she-cat's neck. The terror was enough to make the she-cat mewl in fear and struggle free, running after the tom. Hissing, Shadowstar turned to face her next opponent, only to realize that the deputy of RiverClan, who had led the raiding patry, yowled a retreat and struggle free of his opponent. The invading warriors who had not already fled, bolted for the camp entrance, injured and bleeding. The deputy was the last to leave, and he snarled, "This isn't over, Shadowstar! RiverClan will have the Sunningrocks before leaf-fall arrives, whether your Clan is wiped out or not!" With that, he ran after his retreating Clan.

Spottednose rolled on his back laughing. "Hahahaha! What cowards! look at them run!"

Streamflower began licking her injuries, while Lightfrost meowed, "I don't think that's the last we'll see of them though. This Whitestar...his warrior name must've been Whitethroat, there's no question now."

Shadowstar gasped for breath, her legs trembling and her chest heaving from the effort of standing. "Lightfrost is right," she rasped. "Whitestar will not stop until the Sunningrocks belong to RiverClan, or his Clan is wiped out."

Spottednose ventured a question. "What I want to know is why they want the Sunningstones so much?"

"The Sunningrocks absorb sunlight, meaning the rocks are warm even in leaf-bare," Shadowstar mewed. "It is a popular resting place, especially among RiverClan, who want nothing more than to take the Sunningrocks away from ThunderClan."

Spottednose nodded. "Well then, I say let them come! They're not going to get a single sniff of the Sunningstones while the ThunderClan is still around!"

The Clan meowed agreement to Spottednose's words, and even Shadowstar had to admit that they needed every bit of their territory in the bitter cold of leaf-bare. "Whitestar will likely make sure his warriors are at full strength before he attacks again," Shadowstar meowed. "Those of you who are injured, go see the medicine cat. The rest of you, get some sleep. I have no way of knowing exactly what Whitestar's plans are, so be cautious when you go near the RiverClan border."

Spottednose nodded again and walked over to Streamflower. He mewed, "Need some help?"

Streamflower looked at Spottednose and smiled. "I've got it, thanks," she meowed, licking a wound on her shoulder tenderly. Lightfrost padded over to the medicine cat's den, eyes narrowed slightly. The medicine cat applied cobwebs to some of his deeper scratches, rubbing marigold juice into the rest of his wounds. "Padding after Streamflower, are we?" the medicine cat asked, concentrating on his work. "I don't know what you mean," Lightfrost mewed, watching the medicine cat. "Are you finished, Stormtail?" Stormtail chuckled. "Yes I am. You can go get some rest now." Lightfrost nodded curtly and padded to the warrior's den, eager to sleep after the battle.

Spottednose shrugged and went back to the Warriors' den to sleep.

Firestreak limped over to Shadowstar, bowing his head to the ThunderClan leader. My assistance is no longer needed...Take care, Shadowstar... he mewed, turning around, limping out of the camp, heading toward his den, needing rest...

"Farewell, Firestreak," Shadowstar meowed, watching her former Clanmate go. She licked a particularly deep wound on her chest, keeping it clean. Her head bobbed gently as she washed her wounds, wondering why Whitestar was suddenly so intent on wiping ThunderClan out

When Streamflower had gotten her wounds treated, she padded over to the warrior's den and curled up in her usual spot. She yawned, exhausted, and quickly fell asleep.

SaberClaw hopped lightly over a branch, navigateing through the marsh back to ShadowClan camp. He was parinod at the moment, wondering what the other Clans were up too. Most likely plotting against them some how... He padded into the camp heading straight for his den, not in the mood to talk to anyone at the moment...

After a few minutes of tending to her own wounds, Shadowstar padded to her den and slipped inside, brushing past the hanging lichen and sitting down on her mossy bedding. She finished off her pigeon and buried the bones, son after stretching out comfortably and resting her chin on her forepaws. Slowly, her eyes closed and she fell into an uneasy sleep.

An earsplitting yowl tore through the silence of the RiverClan camp. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOUR ATTACK FAILED?!" All of the warriors and apprentices cringed, slinking away from their enraged leader. The light brown tom who was the deputy of RiverClan flinched slightly. "There were complications," he meowed. "Shadowstar herself was--" He was cut off by a low hiss from the Clan leader. "Shadowstar should not have been able to stop your forces! I put my strongest warriors on that raiding party, and yet you still failed!" The deputy meowed, "I know, Whitestar, and I apologize for our failure. But if you would just listen, I have a juicy piece of information." Whitestar's ears pricked, his smiky gray fur gleaming in the moonlight. "Oh?" he growled. "Yes," the deputy hissed. "Firestreak was there. Helping the Clan he chose to leave." Whitestar smirked faintly. "I see," he snarled. "Perhaps we can use this to our advantage..."

As the sun rose, Spottednose was, surprisingly, the first one to get up. He stretched and padded over to the fresh-kill pile and grabbed a mouse from it as breakfast.
