"Yes sir no problem" John replied to the ground forces. The Ace pilot changed communications and radioed back to command. "Command this is lead flight, we've secured the complex and we're requesting immediate evac. Let me say this again, IMMEDIATE. There's a whole bunch of heroes on the ground and they need some help" John stated, having switched communications.
"Roger that lead flight, help is on its way. Tell them to sit tight" The voice on the other line responded.
"Roger, over and out" John replied back. John proceeded to switch communications back to Jacob, "Help's arriving just hold on for a bit" John looked all about the situation. The weapon here would invaluable for the future battles to come. He didnt want to get to happy now but part of him was screaming that this was it...this was the turn around that the military needed. Yet John refused to get carried away at the moment as he looked the forces below and back to what remained of the fighters in the air. Every step so far had cost lives..

As some time, several choppers had arrived on to the scene moving as quickly as possible. There was no hesitation considering the current area was confirmed as hostile free...

The pilot watched eyed at the creature before him. It was do or die as the man shouted in terror as he fired of the jets machine guns. Out from front of the plane, several streams of bullets fired in towards the orbs. The pilot wasnt sure if this would have any effect but what other choice then he had...

a plume of flames exploded out of the impact points, an almost demonic laugh audible through the static as the Wyvern faded from sight, a mere illusion planted in the pilot's mind, the bullets instead ripping apart a friendly jet, leaving it to hurtle towards the ground in a ball of flames, the shooter's jet suddenly shuddering violently, both it's vertical stabilisers wrenched off violently as the back was suddenly forced down, leaving the craft going nose up, rocketing upwards as the Wyvern closed it's limbs and let itself drop into a controlled dive, out of sight of the rest of the group. with night approaching, it's advantage was increasing...

A dark shadow comes over a small region of Death valley, before a large, glistening dragon lands there. the beast stuck out like a sore thumb. Abaddon thought to himself, "Maybe I need to find somewhere where I am not so obvious." The dragon fleis up and begins to fly towards the canadian border........

Jacob called the Medevac "We need an airlift down that hole, several wounded" He switched back to Juliane "Medevac is here, I have to manage things top side. Can you take cares of things there?" After some hesitation, she replied "...Sure, yeah I got it."

The remaining DDASF choppers arrived soon as well, carrying a clean up squad, consisting of a few technicians, soldiers and scientists. It was vital that they examined the area ASAP.

"All things looked checked out here. We'll escort the wounded back to base" John radioed back to the ground forces much to the relief of the pilots inside the fighters. He figured his men and himself had seen enough action for a day...hell maybe even for a week but they knew that couldnt be the case. The Jets were starting to run low on ammo and fuel and the sheer shock of the whole back exhausted the battle veterans inside the cockpit. The American Fighters circled the area, ready to fly back..

The few remaining Jets were increasingly panicking. "How the hell do we deal with these things!?" One of them exclaimed, it didnt matter if radio was working or not but trying to ignore the increasing tense up emotions he had began to burst out. The fighters continued to fly all over as the roar of their deafening engines blasted through the area

for several minutes the low visibility lasted, though the static faded steadily, finally falling silent, the visibility steadily improving...

Meanwhile, the chopper's radio roared with static, getting worse by the second, visibility decreasing rapidly. suddenly, the helicopter was struck by something large, the craft jerking violently, as three massive claws tore into the side of the cockpit, stopping inches from the pilot, a large black head raising up in front of the pilot, a thick bony beak like formation on it's snout, red streaks extending from it's eyes to the tips of it's ear-like crests, it's feral yellow eyes turning red, it's eyes slitted. "You have experienced life....now....FEEL DEATH" crackled a voice that seemed to be made of static, as the cockpit suddenly began to cool, rapidly dropping to freezing temperatures, ice forming over the gauges, as well as on the pilot's very clothing and skin, threatening to freeze him to death. "What the hell?!" screamed Jake in confusion, Max screaming in pain as a loud thump was heard, alongside the sound of twisted metal, a large spike having ripped throguh the underside of the craft and ripping through his calf muscle, Mike firing at the spike but getting nothing, as the chopper's engines began to slow, ice forming on the rotors...

"Is it... is it gone?" One pilot asked, the tension and fear in his voice easily audible.
"All units spread out, we'll re-group elsewhere. Fly as needed with your fuel but we dont know where is he at the moment and area is still hostile" Another pilot responded, the chain of command now being in his possession. The jets had no other choice but to agree and go along with it...why stay in the hostile area. But as for the chopper...they had no idea if it made it or not, in fact it slipped past their minds and they only become concerned with themselves at the moment.

The pilot looked wide eyed as the dragon lay before him. He felt stuck there, staring into his own at the creature before him but the sounds of the passengers yelling in the back snapped him back to reality as the pilot reached down, grabbed a pistol from his hoister, took off the safety and took aim and began to blast away. Pistols were given to all pilots..one would think they were for survival uses but in fact, they were given mainly for another reason. That pistol was simply known as the 'way out'.

an angered snarl came from the Wyvern as it spotted the weapon, breathing a stream of ice at the windshield, which cracked from the first bullet, the windshield shattering from the sudden cold and the pilot freezing solid before he managed to pull the trigger a second time. with a snarl, the creature kicked off, leaving the three humans to plummet to the ground below, screams of horror coming from the men, Jake checking for parachutes, Mike managing to pull Max free of the spike in the bottom of the craft, rushing to get the parachutes on them, Jake checking the door and the rotor. it had been frozen stiff, meaning they wouldn't be shredded when they jumped. not hesitating, Jake leapt out, Max jumping out soon after, Mike following after that, the three free falling for a short few seconds before pulling the chords, the parachutes bursting from their sacks and unfurling as a horrendous bang was heard, the chopper having collided with the ground, metal twisting, the fuel tank torn open, sparks of metal against metal igniting it and blowing the entire craft to smithereens, as a rattling roar tore out in the distance, the Wyvern obviously heading for some other target, though the three men were terrified by it, Jake deciding it was best to hurry and meet up, spotting a small abandoned town below, where he hoped they could find supplies to patch up Max's leg, and hopefully a vehicle to help them retreat...

for one of the jets nearer to the area, the static steadily began to increase again...

"Oh **** bro, not again!" The pilot shouted again. He looked around, having remembered the last time. "Anybody, this is Eagle 4! requesting help!" The pilot cried but just like that..nothing, no response. He was all alone...The pilot swallowed as he looked around, preparing for the worse as he hesitantly kept his eyes moving, waiting for the dragon to appear..

the static faded almost the instant it reached it's peak, as a bright flash was noted a considerable distance behind the craft, one of the other, more distant jets blown to smithereens, the pilot's scream ripping through the jet's radio just before the craft was destroyed, the static steadily increasing again as the creature turned around, having eliminated all potential intervention...he intended to toy with this one...

The pilot eyes constantly scanned the area with his eyes. He nervously shook as he looked around repeating the words in his head, "I dont wanna die... I dont wanna die..." The jet continued to fly forward as the pilot steadily kept his fingers on the tick, ready to fire of the jets machine guns if anything but its not like it would do anything. He hadnt felt so helpless before and as the cry of another fellow pilot echoed through his mind...he began to start reconizing the inventible.

the static began to warble, forming an eerie, scratchy chuckle. "You humans....so confident in your numbers and your machines...You are blind to the forces around you...the forces that control this world...You believe you own the world...but i'll let you in on a secret...You are nothing but insects...We ruled this world while your kind were still scurrying around in the UNDERGROWTH....now...you try and fight against those who deserve this world....we enriched it. we helped life thrive here....you only destroy life...and now..we will destroy you" rattled the voice, hard to pick out through the static that it was formed from, though clear enough to be identified as communication. a sharp scraping sound was heard as the top of the jet's fuselage was suddenly scraped, the jet jerking violently as the impact hit, the Wyvern having flown overhead and dropped, his claws ripping into the jet's body as it pulled forward, letting him slide backwards, claws still imbedded in the jet's body. not enough to destroy it, but enough to be registered as considerable damage. the Wyvern kicked off as it neared the end of the craft, continuing to fly around the human, as strange flesh-like growths seemed to start growing on the inside of the cockpit, first forming on the windshield and steadily spreading to the equipment...

Meanwhile, the three british soldiers reached the ground, Max falling in a heap due to his inability to stand, Mike and Jake rushing to get rid of the parachutes, Jake rushing over and dragging Mike into the cover of a small arching garage entrance, beyond which lay the garden of a cottage. parked inside was a range rover. covered in dust and with a cracked windshield. it's previous owners were nowhere to be found. judging by the fact the vehicle was still here, Mike guessed they hadn't made it. sure enough, looking towards the garden, he spotted one of the possible inhabitants. a skeleton was impaled on the dry branch of a long since dead tree, it's clothing tattered and worn, the flesh having all but completely disappeared. Mike cringed. smashing the vehicle's driver's side window, he opened the door of the car, getting in. leaning forward, he pulled the panel under the steering wheel, reaching for the wires, proceeding to hotwire the vehicle. Max meanwhile was groaning in pain. "Max. sit tight. i'm going to check the house for a first aid kit or something to patch you up with" said Jake. "Oh sure, i'll just go off to the local pub and grab a pint while i wait" said Max sarcastically, earning a smirk from his friend despite the grim situation they were in...

"Jesus's man I gotta get out of here!" Kyle shouted in fear. He had not never been more afraid in his entire life as he looked around. No hesitation, he knew his jet was falling apart and frankly right now he cared more about his own life then anything else. All he wanted to do right now was live...The pilot reached for one of handles in the cockpit as he pulled on it as hard as he could. The windshield flying off as the jets inside the seat came to fly, blasting the pilot through the air. Kyle closed his eyes as he could nothing as he body began to free fall towards towards the ground as he moved violently through the air as he suddenly felt his movement slowed as he heard parachute come to life...

the jet suddenly began to shimmer, going pale, frozen by the Wyvern. the Wyvern flipped over the slowly descending jet, an unholy smash tearing out above, it's spear tipped, spiked tail slamming into the frozen aircraft and ripping the entire jet in half, small ice crystals and shards of broken, frozen metal raining down to the ground below amidst the two chunks of frozen metal, a low snarl coming from the creature as it looked down at the human. it's hawk-like eyesight saw humans further below, in the town below. with a smirk, the Wyvern roared, before turning away from them. he'd give them time to recover before he continued his hunt....stalking was always his favourite part of a hunt...

with a shudder and a low roar, the range rover came to life, it's engine revving lowly in the garage. "Woo! we're in business again, mates!" called Mike to the others. Jake walked out of the building with a few only mildly dusty rags, duct tape and a bottle of whiskey. "Lovely. got me that drink" said Max as he reached for the bottle, Jake pulling it out of reach before he got ahold of it. "Sorry man. that's for the big bloody hole in your leg. if there's some left afterwards you can have it" said Jake as he crouched down, Max grumbling. Jake proceeded to pull the trouser leg up away from the wound, a hissing wince coming from Max as a result of the aggrevation to his injury. "This is gonna sting a bit" said the man, as he opened the bottle, tipping a bit of it's contents onto the wound, Max gritting his teeth, stifling a groan of pain as the alcohol worked on the injury. Jake then used one of the rags to dry up the excess, and proceeded to wrap the leg with the other rags, holding them together with liberal amounts of duct tape. once it was done, Max grabbed the bottle, downing half of it in a single swig. Jake stared at him somewhat surprised. "After that....i think i deserved a reward" said Max with a smirk. Jake simply chuckled. "Oi! if yer done with yer little tea party will you get yer arses over here before that...that thing finds us again?" called Mike from the range rover, having just come back from searching the cottage, some tins of food in hand and a couple of bottles of water. "hey guys...looks like we aren't the only ones going through hell....look" said Max, pointing towards the sky not far from them. two chunks of what seemed like halves of a plane seemed to be lazily plummeting towards the ground, glittering in the late afternoon light, as a distance away, a small spot that looked like it could be a chair, floated towards the ground, attached to a parachute. "We'd better get moving...poor ******* deserves to be helped at least...it's our fault he's in this mess" said Mike as he tossed the supplies he had gathered into the boot of the range rover, closing the boot door behind it and leaping into the driver's seat, as Max was helped in by Jake, the range rover rolling out of the garage and towards the ejected pilot...

The parachuted seat slammed into the ground with a soft thud thanks to the parachute. The pilot sat there as he began to hysterically laugh and cried a little. There he was, laughing and crying at the same time as he unstrapped the belts that confined him to his feet. The pilot slowly got his feet touching solid ground, his legs a bit shaky from walking as fell right back to his knees as he continued his laughter and crying. "Hahah...oh my god...my alive..haha holy ****, hahah"

If one didnt know any better, they'd assume he was just plain crazy but it seemed that he wasnt meant to die right now..his begging actually worked.

the crackling of wheels on gravel could be heard up ahead, the range rover coming over a low hill and rolling down, stopping in front of the man. "Need a lift mate?" said Mike as he peaked through the smashed window on his side of the car...

the pilot looked up in surprise, he was too preoccupied with his laughing and crying that he wasnt expecting the range rover to arrive when it did. "I..uh...sure? But i'm not dead right? like this aint a dream or something?" The pilot asked as he looked around. The whole shock of the experience threw him off, it would take some time before he actually relaxed.

"Well, if it's a dream and i'm dead i'd rather i don't die here. I'd suggest the same. come on. before that thing comes back" said Mike. in the distance, a flash could be seen in the sky, the last of the jets destroyed, the aircraft hurtling towards the ground in a fireball of debris. not far from their location was the shattered remains of the frozen jet the pilot had ejected from, nothing more than a pile of shards, the freeze having been so extreme it made the jet's body incredibly brittle, the two halves having exploded into shards of frozen metal on impact with the ground...

"Right...uh sure..." The pilot had no other choice as he slowly nodded and climbed into the range rover. He was likely the last one to survive in his unit. He eyed the jet he had been using most of his military life, now it was nothing but debris. He felt rather connected to the jet but now he was more concerned that he was still in hostile territory. He actually made it out at the moment and the realization that it was time to toughen up hit him. "So..I'm Kyle by the way...what about you guys?" Kyle asked, looking at the people around him. It seemed he was likely stuck with them for a while so it was best they he had least knew who he was traveling with.

The wounded soldiers were airlifted out of the pit carefully, Jacob watching them being harnessed up. He walked towards the main building, the chopper setting off behind him. The investigation team were going to be setting up a camp inside the base, and he wanted to share with them what he'd discovered. The DDASF chopper turned around as well. It was time to head home, everyone was exhausted and every second airborne in this country brought them one step closer to death.
