Zombie Outbreak RPG

Where good and bad RPGs and E-wars go to die.

Robert heard the sound of the thundering footsteps behind him and he realized that the Nemesis was faster than he had anticipated. Running faster, he spotted another door at the end of the hallway. Hearing the monster close behind him, he thought:"I'm not going to make it, but I have to try." Turning his upper half briefly, he fired a couple shots from his hand gun at the humanoid abomination, hoping that one would hit it close to it's single eye and slow it down...

"Well, if we see one, let's not shine bright light in it's eyes, okay?" replied Nick, who was watching their rear in case a zombie was trying ambush them...

"I'd be stupid to waste batteries on lights now anyway. maybe at the beginning of the outbreak when you could actually get batteries....now? forget it....save it for when it counts" said Vergil as he entered the mall, looking around, trying to figure out where they were and where Renfield might be...

Nemesis snarled as he slowed, the bullet grazing a brow, dark blood pouring into it's eye, the beast bringing one large hand to its face, wiping the blood out of it's face and looking up, snarling. the beast roaredangrily as it stared at the human. the injury was superficial, and the regeneration of it was fast enough that even taking its eye out completely would only blind it temporarily. but the fact the human had attempted it angered it. the beast began to advance, going from a fast walk, to a job, to a sprint, closing the gap between it and the human rapidly...

"I'm not just talking about flashlights. Any kind of light will annoy them into attacking you." Nick followed Vergil into the mall. "Oh, and keep your distance from them too. They like their personal space."

Having taken advantage of the time that the Nemesis slowed, Robert opened the door, running about another corner. From the look that the creature had only slowed down after being shot, it looked like that a handgun would be almost useless against...

"Noted" responded Vergil as he walked, glancing around, looking for a familiar feature. the only problem with this mall was it was so huge it was ridiculously easy to get lost....especially not that everything was a mess...

meanwhile, the Nemesis' sounds seemed to fade as Robert ran. it seemed he was losing the beast...

As he heard the footfalls fade, Robert suddenly slowed down. Something was wrong, he could feel it. There was no way that a creature that fast would have given up so easily. He kept his eyes peeled and his ears sharp, watching and listening for a sign of the Nemesis...

"Where'd you last see Renfield anyway?" Nick asked, keeping his gun trained on the shadows in the gloomy mall...

"Down a hall not far from where i ran out of the mall...around the place we ran into eachother" said Vergil...

Robert kept going down the hall, keeping his eyes peeled for a door. He didn't like the near silence at all. For all he knew, the Nemesis could be anywhere now, following at a pace that it would be nearly impossible to hear until it was too late...

"Let's head there then," Nick said. "Your pal probably scared off the rest of the zombies around there, and Rnefield might've stayed while it was safe."

Vergil simply nodded, heading towards where he left the mall earlier, going towards it from inside the mall, the external route being too risky...

the smash of glass could be heard not far from Robert's position, a series of crunches being heard as whatever it was moved on the glass, before things fell silent once more...

Robert heard the glass smash and raised his gun enough so that he could bring it into a firing position quickly. He kept moving down the hall while watching for a door, but slowed down to reduce the noise he made. It was an eerie thought, but to him, it almost seemed like the Nemesis was now toying with him, the way it had destroyed the glass, walked on it, then fell silent...

a corpse dragged itself into the room, gasping as it dragged it's otherwise crippled form towards robert, needing to feed, it's lower body missing, intestines trailing behidn it, bits of glass stabbed into the corpse's back, as a flock of crows hanging from a ceiling fan dove down onto the corpse, practically burying it in black feathers and eerie, glowing, blood red spots, the birds' eyes taking on a disturbing quality since being infected, the corpse letting out a desperate gasp before falling still, the clotted blood within it leaving a long brown-red streak from wherever it came from, all the way to where it lay...

As Nick followed Vergil deeper into the mall, he continued his lookout, but was unaware of the two shapes watching from the shadows...

Robert's eyes widened as the corpse had dragged itself toward him, only to be killed by the crows. He willed himself not to vomit and noted the direction it had come from in addition to the glass. It seemed that this zombie had broken the window, from the glass in it's rotting flesh, but there was something that made Robert skeptical. If the Zombie had indeed Broken the window and come in on it's own, it would have undoubtedly done so while still in one piece. Heading in the opposite direction of the blood trail, he kept listening to the crows, just in case they lost interest in the body of the zombie...

a loud smash was heard as something bloody flew through a window, glass being scattered into the hall as the lower half of the corpse hit the floor in a pool of blood, the limbs still twitching slightly, as the crows behind robert let off another series of caws, though gave no sig that they were going to move...

Vergil followed a path of destruction he knew could only have been caused by the Nemesis, noting corpses torn apart left and right, mangled because of their presence in the Nemesis' path as it chased the survivors. Vergil walked on, eventually reaching a door to a concrete hallway, the hinges all but destroyed, torn off the doorframe violently, the steel door laying further into the hallway, bent obscenely, looking more like a chunk of scrap metal than anything one would call a door. "That's what got us to risk the witch....the beast literally punched the door in....that's what's left" whispered Vergil as he nodded to the wreckage...

Robert froze for a momment when he saw the lower half of the body fly in through another window. Now it was clear to him:The nemesis had torn the corpse in half and broke the first window on it's own. It was clearly trying to frighten him and flush him out. Glancing behind at the crows, he considered his options. The first was that he could keep going and no doubt run into the large monster again. The second was that he could head back the way he had come, the way which was now blocked off by the crows. Though there was only one of the creature, the birds could prove to be just as dangerous with their numbers and they might kill him before he could even take out a large number of them. Robert thought to himself, "If I'm going to die, then I'm not going to go down without a fight." He kept moving forward, deciding that he would rather make an effort to get past the single Nemesis rather than the flock of crows, which held the numerical advantage over him...

Nick visibly swallowed. "Please tell me there's only one of these things," he said as he stepped cautiously into the hallway...

"Only one i know of...but i can tell you this...it likes to roam. no way of telling where it is. i'm lucky i survived two encounters with it" said Vergil as he walked through the maintenence hallway reaching the end, nodding towards one half of the Witch, crows ripping at the scraps. the other was pinned under a row of shelves that had smashed when the lower half of the body was thrown into it...

suddenly, just behind Robert, the wall was blown inwards, the Nemesis smashing through with an immensely powerful shoulder ram, the beast straightening as the rubble rained down onto the ground, dust being kicked up, the beast snarling as it turned to face Robert, moving towards the human, a squelching sound coming from the beast's right arm...
