Aliens Vs Predator

Video game reviews and discussion.

They probably gave it that rating because the demo's actually a build of the game that's 6 months old or more... The final product will be FAR better that the demo...

One thing I've noticed is that there is ALMoST always a "Stealth Kill Line", where the seond you've finished a Stealth Kill, you youself gt stealth killed by someone whose been waiting a while...

God I hate that. The stealth kills are epic and all but then you get interrupted mid-kill by some other guy. Doesn't matter though, I usually come out of the round in first-third place. I'm getting good with the Alien, I don't think I even want to try the other two races.
Well James Bond Chinchilla and Monsta Pacman gets old after a year or so of absence. >_> Methinks I'll leave this blank until I come up with something to put here.

Wait... TTR's ALIVE? *Head asplodes*

From the gameplay footage I've seen, Predators seem to get the best of both worlds. They have active camo, superb meelee skills, and long-range weaponry. Overall, they seem to be the best of the three races, the only reason so many people use Xenso is because you can crawl on walls and THEIR epic stealth kills...

Hm, Giratina, no, journalists recieve their copies early. Their review was most likely based on the full game. However, should be noted that is based on the Ps3 experience of the game.

However, word is that its a ridiculous review. The reviewer being completely out of his element.
3 of his main complaints
1. In the Human campaign fighting Aliens gets old. Um that is the point of the game to fight Aliens and Predators. He also disliked the motion sensor.

2. He hated that he had to be stealthy in the Predator campaign. Um that is the whole point of being a Predator.

3. In the Alien campagin he hated having to be stealthy, and walking on the walls!

in summary: rofl
I wouldn't put much weight towards it.
I'm expecting an average of 7 out of 10 when the reviews hit. it seems like that kind of game.

Its hard to judge the full game from the demo, as they gave us the worst possible game mode and an ancient build with terrible match making to top it off. Currently, what hurts the game for me is the melee to melee combat, it's annoying and confusing. You often die with little or no clue of how they managed to kill you. It's hard to understand the alien's attacks in particular and judging the Predator's swipe range is very difficult. Thing is, this could change with optimising/practice. from what I've seen in videos, attacking is much more fluid than we've seen in the demo. many videos show an alien or a predator leaping towards someone and smashing their face in on contact.

A big problem for me was the conditions in when you could or couldn't attack, and where those attacks influenced. For example, aliens can't swipe while dashing, and, because they take a moment to stop after running, they tend to over shoot slightly even when 'walking'. Also, attacks can't be started while leaping, and heavy attacks are uninteruptable for the user, which I think is harsh. once you press the button, you are commited. I think it would make much more sense for the attack to be held at the back swing point until you release the mouse button, so you could use it to counter charging foes.

These are things which 'could' be changed in the final build, so that has to be considered. One thing which most definately will not be changed which annoys me is the trophy kills. The button prompt is unforgivably stupid.

It's very unclear when you can or can't trophy kill. Sometimes I find the only way to use it is to stop moving entirely, which often leads to death or your target running or jumping off. I think it would be MUCH improved in one of two ways. The button prompt replaced with a much more intuitive signal, such as the jaws appearing, from AVP2. It could even be a subtle colour change to your hud. Also, a problem I had was pressing the button and not being sure if it worked or not. Before I've pressed it, only to find myself standing there and for my target to turn around and shoot me. It should be instantaneous.

The best solution, I think, would be to have it as a button you hold down and which triggers the moment you come into range, or that you hold once your in position. So instead of there being specific trophy kill 'positions' that you could perform one from any angle, just in a different way. Preds and aliens can already resist trophy kills from the front (only able to be used while their stunned) So it would not be over powered. Marines would have to rely on team mates for protection. I find using the normal attacks on marines never quite makes sense. It looks stupid when aliens run up to a marine and begin ***** slapping him back, taking 3 whacks to finish him off. Would be much cooler if the alien insta pinned him once it got in range. that way, the melee attacks would only really be used in melee vs melee combat, when both combatants are ready for each other, so they could be specialised just for that.

Sorry, I got carried away there. but yes. The game mode doesn't play to the games strengths either. AVP is NOT designed for basic deathmatch. It was a terrible move to force us into it. I agree with death match's inclusion in the final game, it would be great for games with very small amounts of players, LAN for instance, but as a demonstration of the game? Horrible idea.

EDIT: And as for the stealth kill line? Thats a trait of deathmatch alone, I'd wager.

Hudson's funny. Especially in the part when Ripley turns all alien fighting control over to the little girl. That line and his face is priceless. :P

They were going to cancel it but they waited for AVP3 to come out and they are going to release it later this year.

Probably a bad idea. They should just have it follow the original. The second was ****, and the third is bound to be meh, because it has to follow the second.
