There is no definition of Witchcraft as in powers, Witch craft is a superstition basically following this logic path:

This person is strange and weird-> Therefore: Not like us -> Therefore: related with the devil -> Therefore: Against God -> Therefore: KILL HER BEFORE SHE KILLS US

*cue lynching*

Witchcraft is a way of dismissing somebody else's achievements or customs as a deal with the devil, brought on my fear, jealousy or malice and basically allowed popular opinion to dictate what was normal and who was allowed live.

Beyond that, trying to pin down a witches powers outside of popular culture is plain stupid.

It's a rather advanced way of putting if it looks like you've had too much sucsess lately you aren't human and MUST BE PURGED

Kingpin, I do not underestimate Witchcraft. I know fully well that it actually exists, and that in certain parts of the world, it is still practiced... Now, it si true that in the past, accusations of witchcraft did fly around as means of dismissing one's achievments. However, that wasn't the only reason such accusations were cast around. The Salem Witch Trials, for example, were the result of 2 young girls having ysterical fits and randomly accusing people of witchcraft. over 20 people ended up dead from that...

The powers of a Witch vary from witch to witch, and from universe to universe.

@ gira: No, if I remember correctly, it was actually so the town could take the land away from the so-called "witches" and reuse for farmland. Very few of the witches did anything that should have warranted their attention.

@ IK: We've been in a drought for almost five years by now. It's been raining more, so I think the drought's about done, but we're not in the clear yet.

Another reason for accusations of witchcraft [aside from the ones that were actually true. and It is unfortunately common here in the Middle East [particularly the southern regions around Oman and Yemen], and extensively in Africa [It's a part of life in some places there, Zimbabwe for example], plus some regions in South America too], was as a means of eliminating threats to the church. anyone who threatened the Church's authority was typically branded a witch. I believe Martin Luther was also accused of this [him, or someone of a similar background. I forget the details. But I do know it was a common weapon used by the Church at the time. In fact, studies and sciences brought to Europe by the Arabs during their hay-day were frequently shot down, burned and slandered as witchcraft in an attempt to stop them from weakening the Church's authority].

Then there was the paranoia issue. whenever something bad happened, it was nailed on witchcraft. cold weather extends into spring and summer? bad crops? fires? the plague [I think it happened. not sure on that, but it's not hard to expect it did happen]? Witchcraft, witchcraft, witchcraft and witchcraft.

Of course, the subsequent outrage and advances in science, alongside people's want to just forget it and further squash the Church in retaliation for the atrocities that had occurred during that period, resulted in it's existence being completely shunned, shrugged off as purely the creations of a the mind of a collectively fearful early humanity in order to try and explain what could not otherwise be explained. I wish that was undoubtedly the case. But unfortunately, it's not. At least not from what I've seen. Quite a few people have looked into it, including Anthropology professors in places like Yale and Oxford. National Geographic even did an extensive study on it and published it in the form of an episode of a series called Taboo. There is definitely something to it. What it is, we don't know. We simply have no explanation for it. Could it be science that we haven't learned about yet? yes. possible. is that the undoubted explanation? no. We live in a world that is far too complex to explain with scientific theories and mathematical equations. There are underlying mechanics that may not be explainable by conventional science, or even be explained at all. [And that's not the only thing that can be counted on that list. another issue to note is the issue of Human Animal communication. We haven't found an explanation for that, either. but it's fairly accepted that it exists in at least some form]

My logic is that everything is ******** until I see it myself. Keeps me safe, sane, and reliable. Otherwise I'd probably be a serial killer by now.

Just saw some of the legendary Lets Play of Sonic 2006... and boy was I laughing for msot of it...

Doing a non-stop 24/7 Lets Play of a game as atrocious as Sonic 2006 will cause insanity, mental illness, and a high chance of ruined life

And that's gonna be the last of the Red Text for now... And now for something compeltely diffrent!
