"Oh? Are you implying that I alone can challenge you? Though I'm sure I can do more that- wouldnt- as you said, my young warriors be like mice to you? Or is that just an old cat showing off?" Snowstar mewed smugly. He wanted to use Firestreak's own taunts against him

"You are a leader with various lives at your disposal. By the stench of your patrol, there are at least 4 other cats behind you. For even the most skilled cat, it would be impossible to fight off all of you at once, fool." Firestreak retorted, unphased by the cat's attempt to anger him once more.

"You've fought a bear once, or so I've heard" Snowstar mewed simply. "Would cats be that much of a challenge?"

Stormheart growled at Firestreak's words. "I've had just about enough," he hissed and stalked toward his leader. "Stormheart," Sunclaw hissed cautiously. Stormheart pushed his way through the bushes, his fur standing on end. "I've had enough of your bile, leave now or I'll attack with or without my leader's word," Stormheart hissed.

Firestreak was about to retort when the second cat appeared. "Ahh...yet another prime example of Stormclan's achievements. Threatening a foe that vastly outmatches you...commendable, but stupid." the scarred rogue growled, staring at the new cat. "Yes, I fought a bear to protect my Clan. It was a losing battle that neither side won, but I managed to hold it off to allow my brethren to survive. I have no need to die today, thanks, so I don't think I'll fight in a situation I have no way of winning." he continued, paying little attention to the other cat's threat.

Snowstar hissed, "Stormheart, stand back!" He stepped up then infront of the young naive warrior. "All of you, go finish the patrol with Coldeyes, now!"

Nightclaw wanted to slap Stormheart silly for that move. now his chance of watching the outcome in case problems appeared, was lost. he avoided growling in irritation, instead turning his back on the events and thinking about how best to watch the events. it wouldn't go well if a fight came from this and Snowstar was crippled without anyone knowing of his condition...so leaving was out of the question, at least for him...

Stormheart growled and nearly leapt at Firestreak, but Sunclaw intervened once again. "But Snowstar, what if worse comes to worse?" she asked quietly, concern radiating from her eyes.

Snowstar growled "Im not foolish enough to fight an uphill battle, but until Im sure- this fight is mine. If you insist, you dont have to leave, but by the word of a leader, you may not intervene"

"How wonderfully you control your clan...judging by this kit's reaction, once you were dead, oh wonderful leader, your kin would jump in regardless. No matter how many times you misuse the word 'honor', I will not fight a battle I have no chance of winning." Firestreak growled, smirking at the cats below, the warrior's reaction only proving his point...

"Well, since you asked so nicely..." Firestreak growled, standing on the branch once more. The scarred rogue lept to another branch, in the opposite direction of the clan cats, slowly disappearing into the dark trees beyond...

Snowstar shook his head. "He would've been an invaluable part of the clan if he was still the cat he was before. That fight would've been a test, to see if he was- but basic prinicipals won out..." He growled to himself. He motioned an ear in the direction of the rest of the patrol, which he heard approaching, implying the new warriors should join back with the other cats

Nightclaw came up at Snowstar's side, walking out of the foliage nearby as he meowed "What's his story?"...

"I didn't know him THAT well" Snowstar mewed to the new warrior. "He's the oldest cat that used to be in Thunderclan, the original one. He was once deputy of the clan, but left a while back. He felt that we would force him to become an elder. He was a great cat...but I guess being a rogue has hardened him, and, in the fast changing time, he has seperated himself from our perception of time...he seems nostalgic, longing for the glory days of Thunderclan...where it was the most admired out of the four clans.." The cat mewed

Sunclaw bounded just behind Nightclaw. She had heard of Thunderclan, from the stories their mother once told, about a kind and noble leader named Firestar, about a fiery, yet loyal deputy and the many honorable warriors in it. She laid her ears back and wondered what had happened to those warriors. "Just as well," Stormheart growled. "Better to let old things die, like everything else."

"I can see where that tom was coming from, thinking from his point of view. some things have disappeared that shouldn't have, from what i gather. what benefits the Clan should be kept alive. the Code should be kept alive where it benefits the clan. sometimes change is the only way to move forward...but you can't let that take what's important from you. values and traditions need to be kept intact" growled Nightclaw, almost lost in thought as he walked...

"Hmph," Stormheart grunted. Sunclaw looked at Stormheart. "Very well said brother," she mewed to Nightclaw.

"Tradition is the back bone of the clans!" Snowstar mewed as he walked back to join the patrol. "My son, Lightstorm- made a medicene cat his mate, while I am always open to love, going against the code isnt permitable" He growled. "Im sure the joining of Shadowclan and Thunderclan is disheartening to Firestreak...Im sure he misses the battles between the clans that rocked the forest long before the twolegs and wolves..."

"Battles that brought nothing more than hatred, pain and misery to all sides involved" added Nightclaw, repeating his father's words to him a while ago, trying to keep the memory of why it was ended, visible to the others...
