Nightclaw chuckled and swung a paw to bat his mother's paw away, meowing "Hey, it's not my fault he has a temper!". Wraith smirked and growled "Well, hopefully after today we won't have to worry about this sort of thing. in any case, Nightclaw, i am trusting you to watch over your brother, Nightclaw. you're the eldest, even if by a small period. it's your job to keep his temper in check and look out for him. if anything happens, you're the one that will have to make sure nothing happens to come between you and your brother and sister. Stormheart's brave and strong, but he tends to overlook the political side of situations from time to time. and Sunclaw, she's kind hearted and knows how to watch out for herself, but sometimes that isn't enough. i can't emphasise how important it is that you all work to make up for eachother's flaws. you're cool headed, but tend to underestimate situations. you're your brother's opposite. while he's too quick to strike, you're too slow. he underestimates the power of pursuasion, but you overestimate it. in time those flaws will disappear as you gain experience, but unless you all watch out for eachother, neither of you will ever learn what the right way to balanceout actions is". Nightclaw nodded. he was tempted to say that his father had a nasty habit of droning on about things, but he decided against it, simply out of respect...

Shadelight smiled and winked at Nightclaw. "And you've a nasty habit of giving out long-winded speeches," she mewed to Wraith and flicked his ear with her tail. "Well I'll be off, gotta stock up herbs before leaf-bare." And she trotted off towards the river.

Wraith smirked at the comment, then turned to Nightclaw. "I suppose it's time we got on with that patrol". Nightclaw nodded, smiling, following his father onwards across the border and out into the 'buffer zone' surrounding all the Clans, caught in the middle of them...

Stormclaw trotted into the camp carrying a crow between his teeth, he smiled as he dropped on the fresh-kill pile, he still had a few more rounds to make.

after roughly an hour of walking, the sun now creeping over the horizon, Shadowsoul and Nightclaw walked back into the camp, a young badger caught by the neck in Shadowsoul's jaws, and a couple of field mice hanging by the tails in Nightclaw's. they dumped them at the kill pile, Shadowsoul nodding in satisfaction at the clan's handiwork so far. if they kept going at this rate, they'd be ready for leaf-bare on time, with plenty to last. "Thank you, Nightclaw. now, if you could, go see if your mother needs help with collecting herbs" he growled. Nightclaw nodded, and left, walking towards the medicine den to see if Shadelight was there or not...

Shadelight shook the branch of juniper berries that Sunclaw had brought in. A few small bulbs fell and she gently pawed them into a pile. She looked up and smiled as she saw Nightclaw come up to the den. "What can I do for you Nightclaw?" she asked through the branch and started to shake it again.

"Oh, nothing much. i was told to come here and help with gathering herbs....i just wish i knew how" meowed Nightclaw. he knew what the reason for it was. Shadowsoul wanted his family to be independent on others. to be capable of taking care of themselves as much as possible. but in this case, Nightclaw was utterly lost. he knew very little about herbs, if anything at all...

Shadelight sighed. "Well then, I'll have to teach you then, won't I?" she said. "But we can't go out and gather them yet, I'm still cataloging, you can help me with that."

"How can i help?" he meowed curiously, eager as always to learn the things that would one day benefit him...

Shadelight nodded her head towards a pile of mis-matched herbs. "You can seperate out that pile, just put the herbs that look and smell alike in the same pile," she purred and gripped the branch again. "Got it?"

Firestreak dropped the carcass of the mouse, once again just inside Thunderclan territory, having caught the rodent before it got any further. Growling under his breath, the scarred rogue stalked back into the undergrowth, heading back toward the rogue territory...

Nightclaw nodded, and looked at the pile, beginning to paw through them so that they were shallowly spread, and began seperating them depending on appearance and scent...

Meanwhile, Shadowsoul walked through the camp, waking what was left of the Clan up, meanwhile mentally planning his route for for his afternoon patrol, having swapped it with his daily hunt in order to teach his sons a lesson without leaving the territory...

"I trust that we sorted out our...issues" Snowstar growled, an ear twitching momentarilly, back to the leader den's entrance. "How did you know I was coming?" Coldeyes growled as he trotted into the almost pure white cat's den. Snowstar's black ringed tail swept across the den's floor before growling "I may be aging but my hearing is still as accute and fine tuned as if I was still in my prime!" Coldeyes was silent for a few seconds before growling "Of coarse..and...yes, Shadowsoul said he'd handle the situation" Snowstar nodded off. "The vigil has been assembled?" He asked. "Riverstone and Mudswirl were more that willing to give up their night's rest"
"And of Cloudhaze?" Coldeyes replied "She's faring quite well as a medicene cat, and her apprentice, Daggertooth is a fast learner, its strange having a set of two cats for every singular duty.." Snowstar let a smile creep onto his face "I remeber when Daggertooth was a kit" Coldeyes rolled his eyes "Thats because you were the one to bring him and the other clan kits here before the wolves and fire got to their clanmates" Snowstar chuckled "And the clan has grown six cats stronger" Coldeyes growled "If your lucky, this peace will hold up for a few seasons and you wont have to make hard decisions" Snowstar replied "If I am to pass before I choose the next leader, the one thing I want my sucessor to know is making hard decissions is what makes a leader a leader, and those afraid to making those choices arent fit to be one" Coldeyes bowed his head and mewed "Of coarse Snowstar"

Shadowfang was now hunting for food, 2 of the five Rogues that travelled with him were satisfying their thirst at the stream they drank from the previous Moon high while the other 3 had already drunken water and were now seeking to satisfy their hunger. Though the hunting cats had gone their own ways to look for food, they intended to meet back at the trees they had slept in. The grey and black cat was aware of the new clans, but wasn't concerned about running into them at his location because he knew that he was in an area that did not belong to any of the clans...

He sat on a small hill overlooking the lake, with his tail wrapped over his paws. The cat's blue eyes were calm and level. His ears were pricked as if listening for something, though the only noticeable sound was the wind whispering through the dry leaves and tree branches. There was a chill in the air, and the temperature was steadily dropping further as the sun sank towards the horizon. Yet the gray tabby tom didn't budge an inch. His claws slid out and buried themselves in the earth, and his tail twitched. His eyes narrowed. His only reason for staying out in the open was to watch the sun set. He wasn't hungry, having eaten not long before. He was tired, but he willed himself to stay awake just a little longer. Just until the sun had fully set. Then he would turn in for the night.

Shadelight walked out of the medicine cat den and shook off some of the herbs that clung to her fur. She spotted Wraith and smiled. She nodded her acknowledgement. "How's the watch going?" she asked as she trotted up to him.

The loner flicked his black-striped tail and shifted his white paws. His name was Insolitus. He had been on his own for a while now, and while he enjoyed the quiet and being able to sit and think for long periods at a time, it did get lonely - and boring - at times. But...he wasn't sure he liked the idea of a traveling companion. He kind of preferred the silence, even if there was no one to share his thoughts with.

Shadowfang swallowed the meat that was currently in his mouth, then lowered his head to tear off another. He was currently feeding on a squirrel, having taken the creature by suprise while it had been busy burying an acorn. Having looked up between a gap in the trees a few minutes ago, he knew that the sun was setting and by the time it did set completley, he intended to be up in a tree, where any wolves that came by would have no chance of reaching him...

An eerie howl echoed over the hills. Insolitus turned his head, narrowing his eyes. The cry came from far off, but wolves traveled fast. Was it calling for its pack? Were they hunting? Or was it just a lone wolf? Either way, when the sun set, the tom would have to find a safe den for the night, or he could consider himself as good as dead. Wolves were bad news; any cat born with an ounce of sense knew that. Insolitus stood and stretched his striped legs one at a time. It would seem it was time to get moving.

Shadowfang jerked his head up at the sound of the howl, not intending to linger around despite how far off the sound was. Picking up the dead squirrel in his jaws, he began to walk back in the direction of the trees that he and his companions had agreed they would sleep in, moving at a brisk pace. He expected that by the time he had arrived at his destination, the other cats would already have climbed up trees as a precaution...
