Its 4:09 AM ... and I stumbled upon something....
Medicine Cat- the medicine cat takes care of the Clan, helping to heal injuries and cure illnesses. They usually take on an apprentice when a kit wants to become a medicine cat. Medicine cats, whether toms or she-cats, are forbidden to have mates or kits.
The issue now is why is Shadelight a medicine cat?! She breaks both rules!

note that she got a mate and had kits on the way while she was a rogue. she rejoined a clan later, but she could hardly stop herself from having kits or staying with a mate. it'd be silly. and likewise, NOT being a medicine cat would be a waste of her talents...

I think the best answer to your question, Cs, would be the mate in question. Wraith. As long as she is mated with someone as powerful as him she can hold pretty much any position she wants and hell to the normal rules.
And Kp, the whole point of not allowing Medicine cat's kits or mates is to keep them from being distracted from the work, or emotionally biased. If one of her kit's is sick at the same time as another warrior, she is most definitely going to give her own kit special treatment, out of a mother's care. This could interfere with the other warrior's treatment, who may be in more urgent need of her attention.
Also, being a mother is a full time job, but so is being a medicine cat. one will have to suffer. Chances are, it's going to be her medicine cat duties.
As a result the clan as whole suffers.

Doc: We never really get a full explanation as to why medicine cats aren't allowed to have kits, but I think you just hit the nail on the head. The Clan depends on its medicine cats to keep its members healthy, and if one of them is distracted by a mate and/or kits, the Clan suffers as a whole.

Maybe so. I guess there's no easy answer. Shadelight can't help being a medicine cat - it's in her nature - nor can she help that she's a mother now.

How is that fair? Considering Heatherpelt isnt medicine cat anymore because she wanted to be with Lightstorm, thats why Cloudhaze took her place to begin with!

Firey goes apeshit about everything. He thinks Stormclan is just generally f*cking up the code, he doesn't need evidence for it 
I'm just saying, its not worth uprooting the RPG over. Shadelight HAD kits, which are now grown. Granted, she might give them special treatment, but she wouldn't be torn between the two "careers" as if they were young.

Who said anything about uprooting anything? Im just saying that she doesnt qualify for being a medicine cat, and to follow the rules, she should train an apprentice and step down when said training is complete; like Doc said
