Nightclaw felt himself relax. though he wondered what had just happened. was this a Starclan cat contacting him? it felt like it must be....but then....why did he feel feathers? and the scent he felt was familiar....though he didn't know why...

"Go get some rest, little warrior," Bloodspill murmured. "You need it." Her barely visible form appeared, sitting beside Nightclaw. Her glowing eyes were fixed on him, a faint smile on her lips. her huge, dark wings were folded neatly across her back, and her collar - a red, leather band with a metal plate on it - rested on her neck. Her scars were pale against her black fur, especially the ones on her shoulder - the only constant reminder of her first nasty encounter with a bear.

"m.....maybe i do" mumbled Nightclaw for a moment as he saw the ghostly cat next to him. he had guessed right....it was Starclan....looking carefully, he realised she matched a description he had been given by his father....of a cat named Bloodspill. he felt tempted to ask if his guess was right, but decided to stay silent, walking towards the Warrior's den, laying down silently, needing some time to consider the events...

Bloodspill grinned as she disappeared. She'd forgotten how much fun it was to mess with cats...

Demontalon shifted. She felt restless. She wanted to run as far and as fast as her legs could take her. She didn't want to stay in her nest like a good kit. She sat up, and slipped out of her nest. She nearly leaped out of her fur when Blazeheart's voice murmured, "Can't sleep?" She turned her head, looking for the dark ginger tom. He was sitting a little further away, his amber gaze trained on the darkening sky. She limped forward to join him. "Are you looking for Sunstorm?" she asked softly, glancing at him. Blazeheart let out a long, quiet sigh. "Him and our mother," he answered. He fell silent, meowing after a moment, "Do you think Auburnpelt would blame me...or would she say that I did my best, like Thunderheart?"

His sister closed her eyes, thinking of a reply. "I think she would understand that you couldn't have done more for him," she murmured at last. "But I could have!" He whispered, turning an anguished stare on the black she-cat. "I could have done so much more, and it kills me knowing that because of me, our brother's dead." His voice choked, and he swallowed hard. "I should have gotten him away from there," he whispered. "I should have fought harder. I should have known it would come to a fight." He reached out and pressed his muzzle to her shoulder, feeling himself shaking. She was shaking, too - less noticeably. She turned her head and rested her chin on the dark ginger tom's neck, taking in a deep breath and swallowing a yowl of sorrow.

"It isn't your fault," she murmured, closing her eyes as memories flooded her mind. She'd never been really close to her brothers - but the bond had still been there. She remembered telling Blazeheart of ShadowClan when they were apprentices - he'd been tempted by an offer of power Cindersoul, and had been seeking advice after being brought home by their father. She remembered Sunstorm's laugh, the way his eyes would light up with emotion. She remembered being hailed as a warrior alongside her brothers. Fresh grief drove its claws into her heart. It's gone now...all of it. No more hunting with him. No more late-night conversations. No more... "It's not your fault," she repeated, feeling Blazeheart's shaking intensify.

Wraith stood in the shadows, eying the two cats silently. he considered speaking now, but then decided to let them be for a while. the tom closed his eyes, listening silently above...

Blazeheart let out a shuddering breath. "What would Auburnpelt say if she knew?" he asked quietly. "She'd know you did all you could," Demontalon mewed. "And she'd tell you not to feel so guilty. Look..." she went on more gently. "Sometimes cats get injured, and there's nothing not even the best medicine cat could do to save them. It's harsh. It's not pretty. But it's true." She nuzzled him, trying to give as much comfort as she could. "I'm here," she whispered, so softly she hardly heard herself.

Renny had quickly curled up in the soft, warm nest, eager to get some shut-eye...

Silverstripe looked up, finally noticing it was getting darker by the minute. "Fox dung...just when I was enjoying myself." he growled, having enjoyed the care free time, even if it was rather boring. Standing, the silver tabby stretched lazily, sitting a few feet from the shore of the lake...

"And I was just getting comfortable, too," Flamesight sighed, getting to her paws and arching her back in a long stretch. She reluctantly abandoned the sun-warmed rock she'd found, padding down to the shore for a quick drink.

"Blaming yourself and grieving won't bring him back, Blazeheart. it wasn't your fault" growled the tom's low voice in the trees...

Blazeheart stiffened. "How can I not?" he mewed into his sister's fur. "He needed me and I...I..." He fell silent, shutting his eyes.

"And you did what you could at the time. no one would've expected any more of you" Wraith continued for the younger tom. "Nobody will blame you for not doing enough, when you did all you could in the situation you were thrown into" Wraith added...

Half of my family is missing, Demontalon thought, lifting her head and fixing an unreadable gaze on the sky. Auburnpelt...if you're gone...take care of Sunstorm. And if you're alive...please...find us soon. Blazeheart stayed quiet for a minute, taking comfort in the fact that Demontalon had yet to push him away. "I hope you're right," he murmured.

A dark ginger she-cat sat on the unnaturally cut wood that made up a Twoleg halfbridge. It extended partway into the lake, and stopped. She watched the sun's steady descent. How close am I? she wondered. Are they even still here? Or have they all moved or... She frowned. Thunderheart...Sunstorm....Blazeheart...Demontalon...am I...too late? A little skinny and unkempt, but alive, Auburnpelt had avoided the rogues through sheer luck. Her deep blue eyes stared out across the lake. Please...let them be safe.

Wraith smiled. "I know i'm right" he growled, leaping out of the tree, a streak of black in the navy blue sky before a nearly inaudible thud announced his landing, the tom rising from a low crouch to stand infront of the two cats...

Blazeheart took his nose out of Demontalon's fur, turning to meet his leader's eyes. He thought back to the first time he'd met his leader - as an apprentice. Demontalon had revealed the fact that a murderer was related to them. Shadowsoul had reassured them back then, too. "Funny how history repeats itself sometimes," he meowed.

Auburnpelt settled into a crouch, still looking out to the horizon. "Who knows what tomorrow will bring," she mewed to herself.

"Indeed" growled Wraith, smiling. he had guessed what the tom meant, having felt the same himself. deja vu where he was conscerned. it was almost identical to a certain event long ago. the time he first introduced himself to them as a former Shadowclan cat...he had helped council them both and reassure them that their past didn't effect their future. he had even been in a tree that time aswell. "Do you remember the first time i met you both? you, Demontalon, being coaxed by Rogues into turning on your clan, and you, Blazeheart, not long after the fight that followed?" growled the tom...

"Will I ever forget?" the siblings meowed at exactly the same time, giving each other identical surprised looks afterward.

Wraith chuckled at the response, enjoying the memories. "Things were different then.....both better, and worse, at the same time. we were all very different cats back then" meowed Wraith, his deep, mildly rough voice softening as he remembered how things were many moons ago...

Demontalon nodded. "Suffering has changed us," she meowed, not only talking about the collapse of the Clans, but both before and after.

"Experience" Wraith corrected. "Experience has changed us" he growled, glancing at the young she-cat with a smile...
