"I'm well aware of the new clans...I've seen a lot of them in my time away. I couldn't care less if everyone one of them was gone tomorrow...my problem is with Stormclan following the Code, especially since such teachings are almost completely extinct." Firestreak explained, glancing around the forest almost suspiciously.

"As far as what's being taught, the Code is taught to them as it was laid down long ago. but implimentation? I would be lying if I said it was COMPLETELY implimented. one or two of the codes have been temporarily put aside until the Clans' existence is stabilised completely. for example, we've temporarily put aside anything but a courtious response to other clans on our borders...well, with proven friendly Clans such as the new Novaclan, at least...in order to help reinstate the Gatherings. but to be honest, that's probably the only rule in the Code that isn't being followed....and even then, that is temporary, and only in specific cases" growled Wraith. "I'd hardly betray the Code i was raised believing in simply because i'm in such a position as to tamper with it freely. it'd be a disrespect to our ancestors, to our friends and families who died defending it....Needless to say i don't take kindly to such actions" he explained...

Nightclaw shrugged. "It's up to you" he meowed. "I don't think we could drag any more fish back even if we somehow grew new heads though" he added with a smirk, trying to lighten the mood a bit...

The corner of her mouth twitched, but Hawkclaw didn't smile. Without a word she nodded and picked her catch back up and started for the camp.

"Putting aside the Code for survival is one thing. To disobey the Code for personal gain, is another thing entirely." Firestreak responded with a nod. "Firestar was an example of this. Although the clan saw reason after some time...it showed just how much care they truly have for it." he growled, shaking his head.

"Well, things have changed since then. as far as i can see, it's for the better, but i'm sure someone with as much clan experience as you would be helpful to make sure it is" growled Wraith, glancing at Firestreak as he walked. the camp was in sight by this point...

Nightclaw swiftly followed, grabbing the fish he had caught by the tail to make sure they weren't too wide for him to hold, and began heading back after Hawkclaw...

Firestreak remained indecisive, but the scarred tom's attention was soon drawn away, focusing on the camp. "As much as it goes against your nature, don't make a scene. The fewer who recognize me, the better." he growled, not exactly expecting many to react to his presence. If he could pass himself off as a nameless visitor, he would.

Hawkclaw wound her way around a bramble, avoiding the thorns absentmindedly. Maybe she'd go for a long walk alone when she and Nightclaw had dropped the fish on the fresh-kill pile. She needed to think.

"Not a problem" growled Wraith. "Want to walk through it alone or would you preffer me accompanying you?" asked the black tom...

"They will notice when their fearless leader returns. I'd rather walk in myself, and hope I'm not identified as an outsider." Firestreak growled in response, still staring in the direction of the camp, as if uncertain.

"Well...alright. but i wish you luck. the Clan's tighter knit than it used to be...it'll be harder to pass as a clan member. I'll be waiting at the other side of the Camp when you're done" growled Wraith, before splitting from Firestreak and going around the Camp slightly, so that he entered from the lake side of the camp...

A gray tom watched from above, hidden in the shadowy leaves of the trees. His scent disguised, as he had been pushing through the forrest under growth. He had a wide smirk on his face. "Well well well" He thought. "The legendary Firestreak...acting sensible....hmm...cant say I was different in the past though.." He thought solemnly. Fogcloud closed his eyes and braced his chin on the branch he was on. He had been evading the dawn patrol until now, and was waiting for his chance to leave Stormclan territory...

Firestreak nodded, before stalking forward to the camp. Staring at the ground, the scarred tom was able to walk with some difficulty, attempting to pass as an elder of the clan. Without looking up, Firestreak moved into the camp itself, avoiding any large groups of cats...

Wraith walked through the camp calmly, glancing around at the cats of the clan, the medicine den, the leader's den, the warriors' den, the nursery, all the while keeping in mind Firestreak's position in the camp. he was doing a good job. nobody who wasn't LOOKING for the tom would notice he wasn't just one of the clan members...he also noticed Firestreak was avoiding the groups of warriors around the camp, tpyically discussing random events; a wise move. the less contact he had with them, the less chance he was going to be noticed. the Leader soon reached the other end of the camp, walking out of it...

Hawkclaw entered the camp, padding to the fresh-kill pile and adding her catch. She took the opportunity to look around quickly. Aside from the former deputy - who nobody seemed to have recognized yet - everything looked normal. Good. She wouldn't be missed if she slipped away, then.

The gray pelted cat dropped down from his perch when the coast was clear. He landed with a soft rustle, disturbing a pile of orange, brittle leaves. "Looks like hiding in trees wont be an option sometime soon" Fogcloud mewed. "So I guess I should stop coming here. If I cant face the clan then theres no point risking being dragged in!" He hissed to himself. As he began to walk towards the stream, he growled "I wonder if my father would be proud... in a sense Im walking in his paw steps... except in the wrong order... he was a loner before he was a warrior..." He shook his head. "Maybe he doesnt even acknowledge I existed...fox dung! I was such a royal fool back then...the damage is done... nine moons or nine seasons..."

Firestreak seated himself at one end of the camp, as he had done countless times as deputy, giving himself a good vantage point to observe the camp. In truth, he was well aware of the condition of the clan...he used his strict stance on the Code to allow access back into the camp. Why? He himself didn't know for sure...for now, the scarred tom was busy dealing with a flood of memories, sitting where he spent most of his time. Being in the camp had a sobering effect...only now did he realize how erratic and strange his mind had become...

above, at the edge of the camp, Wraith watched from one of the trees, eying Firestreak, Hawkclaw, and Nightclaw, who dropped his fish onto the kill pile, a pleased look on his face. the seeming blankness the Leader spotted in Firestreak's gaze told him all he needed to know....he could remember having that reaction on more than one occasion...

Hawkclaw turned and started to head out of camp again, hoping she wouldn't be followed. She was unaware of the curious blue eyes that were trained on her. Insolitus cocked his head, wondering if the young she-cat was intending to hunt again, or if she was just taking a walk.

Nightclaw watched after Hawkclaw, conscern in his eyes. she had been silent since the conversation with Firestreak. as much as he wanted to ask her about it, he thought that perhaps a bit of time to herself would do her good. in the mean time, Nightclaw headed towards the Medicine Den to see how Demontalon was doing...

Demontalon slid out into the open as Nightclaw neared. "Wow, what timing," she meowed. "It's like someone's making sure I won't start bouncing around the place." She smiled to show she was kidding. "Slept well?"

Hawkclaw found her paws on a path that would take her to the lake in a roundabout way. The silence, broken only by birdsong, soothed her a little. Okay...calm down. So you couldn't challenge a cat who used to be your Clan's deputy. So what? You're used to obeying orders from him - not giving them to him. She came to an abrupt halt at the edge of the water when she felt the earth beneath her paws dampen, almost skidding as she did so. "Close one," she muttered. "Wouldn't want to get soaked again."
