Hawkclaw settled into a crouch on the bank after making sure that her shadow wasn't falling over the water's surface. Not far from her, Lightstorm was motionless, his amber eyes trained intently on the stream as he willed every muscle in his body to stay completely still. The dark brown tabby she-cat carefully half-extended one white paw, watching for the flicker of movement that betrayed the presence of a fish.

Auburnpelt reached up with her forepaws to rest them against the trunk of a young maple tree. Scratch marks crossed and recrossed the tree's bark, and her ears twitched as her deep blue eyes traced each set. The tree was far enough from the Twoleg halfbridge that she was sure this had once been part of RiverClan's territory. Her scent lingered here, in the scratches and the leaf litter. She still held the hope that a former Clan cat would see the scratches and recognize the smell of her former Clan. But...she was sure her ThunderClan scent had faded with time. Maybe it just smelled like a random cat trying to get attention by now. She felt her eyes narrow. She wouldn't give up...she'd keep trying. Eventually, someone from the collapsd Clans was bound to find her. With new determination, Auburnpelt unsheathed her claws and scored them down the trunk of the tree. The message she hoped to get across was, I was here. I am a former Clan cat who lives near this place. Come find me if you're a fellow survivor. If you're looking for a fight, my claws are this sharp. Don't mess with me! Once the scratches seemed long enough, the dark ginger she-cat dropped back to all four paws and started for the lakeshore at a brisk pace.

Slithertail poked his head up from behind a wall of shrubs, looking around. "...Random" He thought, he heard he could hear scraping noises somewhere. Rogue sharpening its claws? Possibly. Should he check it out? No, but curiousity and the thrill of danger overcame him. It was better than shifting through the undergrowth, thats for sure

Hawkclaw's paw shot out first. Her first attempt missed by a hairsbreadth, but she spotted another fish darting closer to the bank she stood on to avoid her strike, and this time her claws sank into her target. She hauled it onto the bank, biting it behind the head to sever its spine.

Auburnpelt crouched, lowering her head to lap at the cold water. She failed, however, to see a small wave in time. It splashed her face, making her jerk back in surprise. She rubbed her muzzle with one paw. "I hate it when that happens," she muttered under her breath, leaning back down for the drink she'd come to get.

Nightclaw swung almost immediately after, the swiping paw launching the silvery creature into the air, the tom leaping up at it and swatting it again, inwards, away from the water, the fish hitting the grass near the base of the tree, the tom lunging for it and snapping it's spine with a swift bite to the base of the head...

with his trap hunting done, Wraith went to investigate some scraping sounds he had heard a few moments earlier. was it an intruder? was it a possible attacker? whatever it was, he was going to find out...

Lightstorm lunged, flattening himself to the ground so that when he dragged the fish in, he was ready to get a good grip on it with his sharp teeth.

Auburnpelt sat up, droplets of water dangling off of her whiskers. A quick twitch had them scattering. The dark ginger she-cat licked one paw and started to wash her face, her eyes half-closed and her ears pricked, listening intently to her surroundings.

"Good for a start" meowed Nightclaw as he looked at his catch. it was somewhat larger than Hawkclaw's, but he couldn't tell if it was the largest of the three with Lightstorm's fish still moving...

Wraith stopped in front of the scratch marks. he checked the smell, registering something between the surrounding forest, and traces of Clan scent. more importantly. Old Clan scent. the tom's eyes narrowed, and he began to track the scent...it was leading towards the lake shore...

The long-haired white tom let out a satisfied grunt as he felt his teeth sink into his prey just behind its head. He dragged it farther onto the bank, to stop it from falling back into the stream if it managed to get free. With a growl of effort, Lightstorm bit down harder, his teeth connecting. The fish went limp and he lifted his head, licking his lips. "That'll feed a cat or two," he meowed, nudging his catch with his paw.

Auburnpelt looked around once she was done grooming, her blue eyes watchful. She didn't want to take the chance of being surprised by a rogue cat. She'd seen the scars left on the other loners who'd managed to escape from the aggressive attacks.

as Wraith neared the source of the scent, he noted it was getting more powerful, the tom then stepping out between two bushes and seeing the cat. "Well well well...my luck this moon just keeps getting better and better" growled the black tom with a smirk...

Nightclaw stared at the fish, his eyes reasonably wide, impressed by the catch. "A few more of those and the clan would be fed for the rest of leaf-bare" he meowed jokingly...

Auburnpelt stiffened, her ears flattening. A growl started to build in her throat. "Show yourself," she called, her claws sliding in and out of view.

Lightstorm chuckled. "Maybe so," he mewed, turning the fish over with one paw. Hawkclaw reached over to poke it. "Wow," she meowed. "Good luck carrying it back." "It must weigh as much as you do," Lightstorm purred, flicking his sister's ear with his tail. She flattened her ears and pretended to spit crossly, though the amusement in her eyes ruined the effect a bit.

"Is that any way to answer a friend?" growled Wraith as he stepped forward, into plain view, eying the she-cat with amber eyes, pupils reduced to narrow slits in the sunlight...

"Judging by the size of these i think our little fishing trip's over" meowed Nightclaw with a chuckle...

The ginger cat's eyes widened as she recognized the black tom. "Shadowsoul," she mewed, looking away quickly and letting her bristling fur lie flat, helping it along with a few brisk licks.. "Forgive me. I thought you might be a rogue."

"Yeah, I think so too," Hawkclaw meowed, lowering her head to pick up her own catch. Lightstorm sniffed his for a few seconds before picking it up by the tail, figuring this way it might be easier to carry.

"Nobody would blame you for it. these are dark times. The rogues that survived the chaos are making use of the former Clan Cats' disadvantage. pressing the fact. 'making them pay' for how they were treated in the past. some simply keep to themselves, but there are a few that actively seek trouble...How has life been treating you, Auburnpelt?" growled Wraith...

Nightclaw reached down and bit the catch on the tail, dragging it with him, heading back to camp with the others...

"Relatively well, all things considered," Auburnpelt meowed. "And you?"

Lightstorm and Hawkclaw started for the Clan, the former having to stop every now and then and adjust his grip on his slippery prize.

"Well, all things considered" growled Wraith with a smile. "Snowstar and I have merged Shadowclan and Thunderclan....Stormclan is it's name"...

Several slips and a while later, Nightclaw walked into the camp, the fish still in tow, a bit dusty, but none the worse for wear...

"...Did I hear you right?" Auburnpelt mewed, cocking her head even as her ears pricked with surprise. "ShadowClan and ThunderClan working together? Has it started raining mice?"

Lightstorm's neck was aching by the time they reached the camp, and it was a relief to set the big fish on the fresh-kill pile and sit down. Hawkclaw set hers down after, the dark tabby casting another admiring glance at her brother's catch. "I'm surprised it didn't drag you into the stream," she remarked, making him bite his lip in an effort to control his laughter. "You'll live that down...eventually," he told her, clearing his throat as the corner of his mouth twitched.

"'Go into the mountains' they said...'freeze your tail off in the dead of leafbare', they said!" Firestreak snarled to himself, his movements slowed to almost a crawl as he fought the winds on the mountain. Not only were they constantly battering the tom, but his fur did little to fight the chill...he was starting to rethink joining the clan. The gray tom was now off the human thunderpath that led through the mountains, knowing that the plant in question would not be near. The dangerous climbing, coupled with the high winds, made it even more difficult...

"Well, i DID see one fall out of the sky...though it was half eaten and had fallen from a branch. an Owl had eaten it, so i don't think that counts" growled Wraith with a smirk...

"Don't worry Lightstorm. if one of those fish tries to eat you i'll get you back" meowed Nightclaw with a smirk as he dropped his catch near the other two...

"My hero," Lightstorm joked. Hawkclaw let out an amused purr.

Auburnpelt chuckled. "It seems you've done the impossible, then," she mewed. Suddenly struck by a thought, she added, "How many survivors were there?"

"Anything for the poor unfortunate cats of the Clan" joked Nightclaw with a smirk...

"The word 'impossible' means nothing to me" growled Wraith with a smirk. "The clan's numbers have reached Thunderclan at it's peak, give or take a few. we're taking in all the former clan members, though ones whose loyalty we're not sure of still have to go through an initiation. Firestreak, for example, is in the middle of such an initiation as we speak" he added as he walked forward, to Auburnpelt's side, glancing across the lake, spotting the point on the opposite side of the lake in Shadowclan territory, where he would lounge around on lazy days...

"Impressive," Auburnpelt meowed. She glanced at him as he joined her, wondering how to phrase the question she wanted to ask. "...Have you seen or heard anything of my family?" The words were hesitant, the ginger she-cat both wanting to know the answer and afraid of what she might hear.

"I can rest easy now, knowing you're looking out for us," Lightstorm meowed with mock-seriousness.
