Mastermind E-war

Where good and bad RPGs and E-wars go to die.

Mastermind E-war

Postby TyrannoTitan » Fri Jan 14, 2011 12:37 am

Story

You are a Mind, an omniscient being that controls the lives of mortals, through subtle means, or direct intervention, it is up to you. But you are not alone. Other Minds manipulate the material universe, competing with one another. This is but a game to you and your kind; but to those you control, it is life. It is reality. Your goal is to out-do the other Minds, to conquer the galaxy for yourself. There is no true way to win: Minds exist on a totally different plane of existence, and therefore remain unaffected by the turmoil in the material world. The game is eternal, and the Minds continue to combat each other for as long as they wish.

General Information

The E-war has almost total freedom. Factions can be completely unique, or complete rip-offs. If you want a bunch of vikings sailing through the galaxy on ships powered by fairydust, you can. If you want to create an extremely powerful individual that levels planets for a living, you can. There are limitations, though, for the sake of sanity, which will be explained later. The knowledge of the Mind, in terms of what other Minds are doing, is limited by what their minion(s) know(s). In Scrabble, you don't peek at another person's letters, because its rude. Same applies here. Nothing is invincible, and few things last long. If you want a decorated commander out barking orders in the middle of battle, go ahead. But don't be surprised when your detailed character gets its head blown off by an enemy sniper. Teams are possible.

Rules

1: No single sentence posts unless its appropriate (Conversations and so forth).
2: Damage MUST make sense. A pistol piercing the armor of a tank is ridiculous. A tank resisting an anti-armor weapon, however, is ridiculous as well.
3: Abilities, equipment, numbers and reinforcements must be established. You can't pull a pistol out of thin air to help in a fight, and you can't have reinforcements appear out of no where to help in a battle. If you take the entirety of your race's military forces to attack someone, say so.
4: Minds don't actually commune in-E-war. If you want to discuss a partnership or something, either have the characters meet in-Ewar, or discuss it via PM.
5: Nothing is invincible. With enough appropriate damage, anything can die/be destroyed. Period.
6: Destroying planets or other celestial bodies is not an easy feat. Those that can do it usually take a lot of time and/or energy to do so, and can be stopped.
7: Don't harass other players. You can't automatically know where their factions are located.
8: If your civilization is destroyed, it must return small. It can expand quickly, but it cannot just appear with its starting resources/forces. Same applies to single, extremely powerful characters. After their destruction, they are weak, and must recuperate, not launch themselves right back at their enemies.
9: Limited to one active faction/super-individual per player. They can abandon the civilization/individual in favor of another, which is basically the Mind moving its influence elsewhere.

Magic
Magic is as possible as the players make it. But there is no spell to destroy an entire planet, neither is there one to make a character invincible. Uniqueness is one thing, being an *sshole is something totally different.

Technology
Same as magic. Sky's the limit, but there is no technology that makes them invincible, or allow them to destroy an entire planet in an instant. Technology must be at least somewhat practical. You cannot use black holes as shields because they will consume the ship they are protecting. This standard of practicality is based on Sci-Fi, so futurisitic or real-life-impossible technology is still available.

A large craft lingers over the planet, drifting slowly with its gravitational pull. The sun's rays are reacching up behind the planet in the distance. The ship is sleek, a dark gray mass with a chrome trim running along the edges. Its shape is akin to that of a battle ship, a wedge like bow leading into the more cylindrical hull, several small retangular windows visable along it. Two large curved triangular wings extend on either side of the ship and the tips point downwards. The aft of the craft looked like the top of a cut diamond, made of mechanical components, encased in a hull save for a dark cavity where the ship's thrust came from. This was the engine that allows the giant craft to shoot from star to star across the cosmos. Some way down from the ship's bow is the super structure that holds the ship's bridge and crew. It is seamlessly attached to the rest of the ship. It looks like a mere buldge at the top of the ship with a few spires sticking out of the sides and a few large screens eminating a green light. It stretches from behind the wedged front all the way back to the start of the engine. It lingers over the planet below, the blue water visable through a hazy blue/green atmosphere. There is a large continent visable below, broken up by meandering rivers and mountains. Obstacles that would have kept the Hai'Orak seperated if they didnt have an inate drive to stay connected.

The ship itself was a buzz with activity. In the kitchen sector of the craft, the small white figures worked ferverishly, wearing black aprons with a golden lining. "Where's the Posh!?" One exclaimed as it worked at a counter, cradling a bowl in a stubby arm and stirring a pastey mixture inside with a mixer. "Posh!" Another yelled as it sped over, holding a bag over its head. It lowered the bag when it neared and ripped the top off before pouring a powder into the mix. "Posh!" It said again, watching the paste turn a pinkish color. "I need some Groulible!" Another Hai'Orak chef exclaimed from the other side of the kitchen, another Hai'Orak yelling out to show that it had the Groulible and making haste to get it to it to its companion.

In the mechanic deck, things were just as noisy, but not because of yelling. Hai'Orak on scaffolds and suspension rigs all worked on the machines that kept the ship running. Clicks, bangs and whirs sounded off every second. It was a wonder it all went unheard by most of the ship's crew. There were several ships like this one, all with great numbers of Hai'Orak on them, all making their journies across space.

On a distant planet, humanoid-like creatures walked around within a jungle, working around like they'd usually do within their kingdom. Soldiers marched through the forest floor on patrol, far below the tree-top dwellings upon their mounts. Others walked through the jungle aswell, those Carigus warriors wielding rifles instead of plasma swords the riders had wielded...

"Have you heard back from the Council?" Gra'ti croaked, his voice, like all Kroot, cracking and changing pitch randomly. "Not yet, General. But I am sure they wish to move the fleet as well, surely, General." another Kroot, the Houndmaster of the battalion, croaked, shrinking slightly as he looked up at the General, who stood on the command deck of the ship. Gra'ti made a low, throaty growl. "Keep me informed, Houndmaster. I wish to know the Council's decision...immediately!" the General responded, banging the end of his polearm against the floor of the command deck. The Vespid engineers hovering past made a few angry looks in his direction for potentially damaging the floor, but said nothing, busily maintaining the ship's systems. This was usually the case for the Republic; Vespid, with their higher knowledge of technology, would provide adequate weaponry and transport to defeat the enemies of Kran'tai and His children. The Kroot would provide the manpower and numbers to operate and construct these weapons, using their mighty war beasts to destroy the heretics that infested the galaxy...

In the Garuigan sky, a ship started to make its descent. It entered the atmosphere at a steep angle, as if it was plumetting headlong towards the jungle below. The ship's hull was ablaze as it dropped through the air, flames licking the dark gray hull at the craft's bow and making it glow bright. As the craft neared the ground, it started to level out. The bottom hull split and slid apart, revealing three thruster ports that were placed along the ship's length. A bright glow eminated from the ports, the ship slowing down and heading for an area with relatively light vegetation. Another Hai'Orak exploration ship making a landing...

Many creatures ran from the area as the ship started to make it's landing, while Carigus patrols began moving within the direction of the ship landing near their kingdom. The riders reached it first, circling around while grasping their plasma swords, the riflemen following behind soon afterwards...

As the craft started to touch down, metal panels at the front and back of the craft started to rearrange. Three large landing skids slid into place, locking down as the ship landed. The ship had knocked down a few trees making its pass and the skids sank into the ground a little, the surrounding vegetation being blown about by the craft's jet wash...

The warriors and riders circled the ship or were holding their ground, but didn't raise their weapons at all. Their commander soon walked in, saying, "what is this? An unwelcome visitor? Don't attack unless they do!"

Several moments passed before finally the ship's hull parted one last time. A ramp was lowered from the ship, small figures starting down it. They wore strange, black suits reminiscent of hazmat suits, with a shiny silver visor wrapping around their helmets.

Hurgo silently snarled within his helmet, holding his ground an looked at the weird creatures through small eye-holes in his helmet. A small pack of Saurugans watched from the jungle with slight intrest and hunger, while warriors stood in an almost statue-like stance. Saurugan riders tried stopping their mounts, but some continued on with circling the ship itself...

The visitors continue with their work without fear, knowing that at any time, the ship's weaponry could deploy and eliminate any possible threat. The Orakians got to work taking samples of plants and soil nearby. Soon they will start to gather water and other resources from the planet before taking back to the stars.

"The Council has decided! The fleet will move to these coordinates." Gra'ti croaked, the navigators, mostly Vespid, moving into position. Search vessels were launched, acting as advanced reconnaissance for the fleet. These small vessels, usually consisting of a small squad of Vespid Rangers, engineers, and some supplies, would comb the galaxy for habitable zones. If intelligent life is discovered, the crew would then determine its threat to the Word of Kran'tai, and, if deemed unsafe, the fleet would move to eradicate. If a planet of significant resources is discovered, the surface would be purged of all hazardous species, then colonized.

On a space station floating about, a hideous beast slept cryogenically. A beep was suddenly heard within its head. The beast stirs, its mechanized limbs and brain whirring to life. The creature shakes its head and roars. "This is General Rukh, do you read me, 0261?" The creature grumbles in reply. Apparently it was partially sentient. "Excellent. I need you to investigate some occurences on colony 4731, a space station near where you are. Military officials have been disappearing, and I need you to see what's going on." "MOTHER" growls in reply. She hadn't been asigned a mission in weeks. Within the pod she was confiend in, she taps on some buttons with her prehensile tongue. The pod whirs to life and shoots through space towards the colnoy......

Hurgo watched the alien beings with slight intrest, while the Carigus riders upon the lightly armored Saurugans continued to circle the ship. "Intresting... it's like they don't even know we're here!" the army's commander thought, just as the wild Saurugans burst through the jungle and charged past the Carigus patrols directly towards the alien beings...

As the charging creatures neared the craft, some of the spires atop the vehicle angled down, aiming right for them. All at once, spiralling streams of green energy shot down into the animals with a loud crackling noise. The creatures were struck down before they got too close, while the Orakians continued their work methodically. From the ramp came several small vehicles. Their chasises were white with black stripes along the sides. They were stockilly built and oblong shaped. They sported treads on either side to easilly cross a variety of terrains. Mounted on the vehicles were light machine gun turrets to deal with aggressive wild life. Millitary support would be dispatched if the scouts reported increased hostillity. The scout vehicles drove off into the jungle to set up waypoints for the gatherers.

A couple of the wild Saurugans had survived the attack, just barely, however, and were critically injured, requiring medical attention. A soldier stepped forward and grabbed a young one that survived, taking it back into the jungle while two more soldiers grabbed the adult. Villagers of a small town watched from their homes built within the trees as the alien vehicles went into their home, while other, less-aggressive wildlife watched from a distance on the forest floor...

The quick scouts spread out about the area in a short time. They marked several places within the jungle for harvesting. The abundant resources of the jungle meant this operation would be a fruitful one. Trees would provide lumber, which, in its raw state was useless. The wood would be fed to the ship's matter converters, so that more useful materials could be created.

A couple of ground patrols soon saw the land vehicles but paid no actual attention to them, thinking they were some new weapons made for their army as they had no knowledge of the aliens on the planet yet. The hungry Saurugan packs stalking the vehicles waited to see if there was anything edible inside of them, so they could quickly gain a meal. The three Carigus soldiers moved quickly up the trees to a medical building within them, carrying the injured animals in one arm tightly as they did so...

Some more time passed by, with the Orakians outside of the ship ceasing their sampling. They returned back to the craft to put the soil and plants they acquired into storage and study them in an effort to intergrate them into the ship's garden. It was a large chamber in the craft's lower sector, where the Orakian scientists experimented on plant life. Not all exploration ships had a garden, but harvesting vessels like this one did. The scout vehicles started to secure the areas they discovered, taking up armed formations so that each other were covered and no single vehicle could be attacked without the others knowing. Soon the harvesters would be deployed...

In the Carigus capital city, the only area not built on the tops of trees, but instead on the forest floor in a completely open area, surrounded by the massive trees themselfs, soldiers were training within their barracks while civilians worked at their jobs, some at the factories to produce more of their technology. The space fleet floated some hundred miles above the capital itself, while fighters and other aircraft flew over the massive city...
