Arsenic snorted. 'Which people are those, the dead ones?' he joked. Vix gave a laugh at that.

"Some, yes. Not my fault though" he started with a chuckle. "Funnily enough, the same ones who say that also seem to be the ones sending me on most of my jobs in the first place. Take my brother Alexander for example" he explained. "Big shot in the Silver Order and now he rules Valenhad till we get a new King. He sent me with the letter to the Queen's family in Draxon. also sent me on various missions to investigate complaints about werewolves. Were it not for my resignation following my acceptance of the letter delivery job, he would've sent me to a border village of Valenhad at the foot of the mountains to investigate strange sightings and disappearances. And yet, his most frequent sentence to me is 'You work too hard'. How's that for irony?"...

The red-haired man let out a low hum, appreciating the irony as well as thinking over something a few sentences back. 'Werewolves...' Arsenic repeated thoughtfully. 'I don't think we've seen any of their kind around the village in generations.' He paused and eyed Vix thoughtfully. Then again.... he added to himself, still puzzling over her transformation. She caught the look and returned it somewhat suspiciously. "What? I got a bug on my forehead or something?" she asked.

"Oh, I wouldn't be so swift in dismissing the presence of werewolves in the village" said Andruil, noting the look he gave Vix. for now, he was safe. the focus was obviously more on Vix than himself. though he had yet to give them any reason to believe that he was anything other than a normal person...

Arsenic turned his thoughtful look on Andruil, curious as well as practically feeling the seething mass of questions in his mind. 'No...perhaps I shouldn't be,' he said, ducking a low branch a moment later.

The gryphon masters simply begin to fly back to Draxon, not expecting there to be resistence, and to inform their King of this....

Ferdinand waits by the entrance of the Archives, thumbing through a small book he had gotten to learn how to be a smith...

By this point, it was just past noon, the sun hanging lazily over Aster, it's heat only thrown off by the wind. Andruil considered what path to take ahead. there was a fork along the way. one path would lead through the woods. it was a more dangerous path, but would cut a day off of their travelling time. the other path went through a small town, but was otherwise made up of plains. deciding to see what Vix and Arsenic thought, he mentioned it. "Up ahead there's a fork in the road. they both end up leading to the same spot, but one's longer than the other. trouble is, the short one goes through the woods. I don't have a problem dealing with the local wildlife, but it's somewhat more dangerous than going the other way. the alternative is an extra day on our journey and will take us through a village. aside from that, there's only plains between here and the dwarven settlements. which way we go is up to you" he explained...

It wasn't long before Septimus left the isle and entered an Isle on Mystical creatures. once in, he found a book titled Dragons, Wyverns and Hydras: The Mystical and Mythical Beasts of Aster. interested, Septimus took the book. satisfied, he turned towards the entrance to speak to the Archivist about permanently taking the books, for a fee...

Arsenic exchanged a glance with Vix. 'I would prefer to be there and back as quickly as possible,' he said slowly. 'Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't feel right, not being with my brethren when we've lost so many...and besides...whatever we meet won't last long with the toxins I have with me.' Knowing he wouldn't elaborate further, Vix chimed in, "He has a few vials of the venom of a very elusive type of dragon. Willingly given. It will kill, in seconds or minutes depending on the size of the creature and the size of the dose. He also a few other poisons beside those." Arsenic sighed. 'Give away all my secrets, why don't you,' he muttered. "I would," she replied with a smile, "but some of them are not mine to share."

"You CAN get back at her, you know" chimed Andruil with a smirk. it was settled that they were going through the forest. he decided there was no reason to dwell on it...

'Hmm. I could, but many of her secrets tie into her past,' Arsenic said, watching Vix for signs that he should stop. 'And that story is one she should tell herself.' Vix gazed back at him with unreadable green eyes. She seemed calm, but he knew that her past was a sensitive subject - and rightly so.

"Very well. I won't pry" he said, somewhat disappointed, but understanding. "You mentioned earlier that the venom you acquired from the dragon was provided willingly. How was that, exactly?" he inquired...

'I saved her life,' Arsenic replied. 'Her name is Aviva. She's become a good friend with the years, so she's willing to give some of her venom if I need it. She's off with the rest of her species right now...but she should return fairly soon.' A smile twitched at the corners of his mouth. 'her kind are quite unique...and as mentioned earlier, elusive.'

"Interesting" said Andruil as they neared the fork in the road, Andruil heading to the right side so that he wouldn't have to veer too hard to one side when they reached the fork. "So...Do you think she could track you down when she reaches the village? or will she stick around there to help them?"

Unbeknownst to the trio, a pair of yellow, catlike eyes watched them from the bushes, the little creature cautiously reading their thoughts, judging them...

The Archivist sees Spetimus approaching. He pushes his glasses closer to his eyes and says, "Ummm..... hello. How may I help you?"

Growls can be heard in the deep woods, along with quick footsteps scurrying about in the thick foilage....

"She'll find out what happened and come find him as fast as she can," Vix said, chuckling. 'We have a...special bond, you could call it,' Arsenic said. 'She doesn't like me getting into trouble. She'd fight all of Aster to get to me, if she had to.' Arsenic felt something probing his thoughts and gave a mental jab in return; a warning. Just a taste of what he could do.

The watcher's eyes narrowed, the probing becoming somewhat more passive, though it seemed almost offended at the act. The creature's current concerns, however, were the beasts in the forest nearby. As long as he kept himself hidden and stayed quiet while following the travelers, maybe he could finally get his wish...

Andruil smiled. "Well then. Perhaps we have an advantage afterall" he said. a Dragon would be a handy friend to have on their side. the man could sense they were no longer alone, but he couldn't tell where. he looked at Shiryaz, the Gryphon Hawk shifting it's gaze right and left, obviously sensing something, but having yet to pinpoint it's location...

"I'd like to take these books" growled Septimus as he held the three books he had picked up in the library. "...Permanently. Or at least until the next time I happen to visit Freyr-Lunge" he rumbled...

Tetto'eko reluctantly gave Septimus the book back, disappointed that he couldn't find anything about Drakun II in there...

The Archivist nods and says. "That'll be..... 30 silver peices, or 15 gold peices, or 60 bronze peices. Whichever you have."
