Meanwhile, in the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn, the water began to surge and glow. It wasn't long until the water began to boil, electric bolts shooting from the depths, before the surface of the river exploded in a massive tidal wave, swamping the Brooklyn Bridge in tons of water, a pair of spike-tipped, golden tails lifting up into the air, only to crash back down into the river, taking a good chunk of the suspension bridge with it. The rest of King Ghidorah's body lifted into the air on his shining, solar panel wings, letting out a fearsome trilling screech. Bursts of lightning sprang from his three maws, lancing across the waters and smashing into the coastline of Manhattan, slicing buildings apart like they were made of tissue paper. The furious space dragon began to vent his rage on the city, Gravity Beams spraying in every conceivable direction, spreading devastation and death in his wake. King Ghidorah lifted high into the sky, soaring over Manhattan and bombarding it from the air...

The fiery saurian sees the cybernetic dragon circling high up in the sky. His eyes narrow before he unleashes another heat beam, aiming directly at Horus' chest....

Not long into King Ghidorah's rampage, the thundering blast of sonic booms cracked over Manhattan, rocking the buildings. Spinnerax had resumed his watch of the planet after destroying the alien ship, and quickly honed in on the city once he detected the golden hydra's energy signature. His blurry form circled the city, the wasp planning his next move. The metropolis was already fortified and millitary forces were mobilizing against the dragon. Jets would soon swarm the attacking monster and the internal defenses, concussive plasma based turrets would fire upon the space dragon. Citizens started making their way to the several shelters distributed throughout the city and remarkably, key buildings began to lower into the ground, their foundations being built on large retractable platforms. Once underground, metal panels covered the area they once stood tall...

King Ghidorah paused, hovering over the city as it seemed to descend into the ground. It seemed these humans were used to attacks like this. No matter. He could always come back later. Starting small was probably a better idea anyway. As for Spinnerax, he didn't bother attacking. The wasp was too fast for him to hit easily, but he wasn't particularly worried. The dragon was confident that he could take so much more punishment than Spinnerax, it hardly mattered. Besides, he had other ideas. King Ghidorah continued to fly over the city, heading inland, ignoring the towering structures for now, but making no effort to hide...

The blurry form of the wasp slammed into the dragon's back, legs first, the sheer force driving the hydra into the ground just outside of the city, dust rising up from the point of impact. Despite the obscured vision, the wasp was able to identify his targets: the left and rights heads of the dragon. He swung his spinning drills across their necks while pinning down the middle head with his front two legs, the barbed ends being driven into the weaker scales. He was fully prepared for an electrical barrage from the hydra, and thus was ready to dart into the air at the earliest sign of it conjuring its lightning.

No sooner had Spinnerax made physical contact with his target then he was violently thrown back. King Ghidorah's scales were already electrically charged, energized after his emergence from the river, and furthermore after identifying Spinnerax a few moments before. The severe electric shock didn't touch Spinnerax long enough to risk an overload, but was more than enough to send him flying backwards. Even then, the force of Spinnerax's charge forced King Ghidorah lower to the ground, but he continued, unabated. All he needed to do was get into another civilized area, something that wouldn't be too hard in New York. The humans simply didn't have the budget to defend every city like they did Manhattan, so all King Ghidorah needed to do was find an area with, at the very least, some buildings. Then, he could put his real plan into action...

The cyborg wasp let out an electronic screech after landing several meters away on his four legs, clouds of dust forming around his body. Electricity crackled along his four wings, but was then drawn into his body, Spinnerax's horn glowing red. He started heading towards King Ghidorah once again, drills spinning up as he approached.

King Ghidorah ignored Spinnerax, but only for a moment. Already, he could see the skyline of a small city up ahead. He sped up, trying to get there as quickly as possible. If Spinnerax attempted to hit him again, he would suffer the same results as last time, and at this rate, there was little chance of him blasting the dragon out of the sky before they reached the city. Unless he used the Harbinger blast again, which the space dragon doubted very highly...

Now back in deep water, Blight began to swim downward, and off to the northeast once more. He desperately needed rest... and if he couldn't find it on land, then he would have to sleep either in the depths of the sea... or on a nearby planet, where that blasted wasp and... THING wouldn't get to it... hopefully...

Spinnerax beat his wings as he jumped into the air, shooting off into the air and streaking across the sky, darting around the dragon and hurdling headlong at the dragon. Suddenly, Spinnerax reared up mid-flight, the energy in his horn being released not as a beam, but an expanding wall of light and heat that blinded and scalded the dragon for a few moments.

King Ghidorah screeched in fury, but his momentum carried him forward, straight through the blast and nearly into Spinnerax himself, his armored scales shrugging off the worst effects of the heat. Only momentarily stunned, but still unable to see completely clearly, he quickly started to descend, landing amidst the scattered buildings around him. Only a few of them were particularly tall, but there was plenty of architecture, and that was all he needed. The space dragon turned to look for Spinnerax, waiting patiently while his vision from his main head still cleared up...

What the dragon saw where the wasp once was was empty sky, the subsonic fluttering of Spinnerax's wings filling the hanging in the air as he shot about outside of the dragon's hindered sight. Mere seconds later, the golden hydra's right head was smashed into the still dazed middle one by a drill, the wasp's spiked metasoma following suit when Spinnerax spun with the blow, further disorienting his enemy.

King Ghidorah shook all three heads, looking around. Instead of screeching, however, he spoke. The dragon's three heads spoke as one, each one in a slightly different pitch. Occasionally, the left or right head would speak ahead of or behind the other two, making the voices disconcerting, but still decipherable. He was speaking in, surprisingly enough, human English, which he knew Spinnerax no doubt understood. "Now now, my little cyborg friend, can't we just sit down and talk like civilized beings? Or is that beyond your programming?" King Ghidorah continued to look around as he spoke, and the lighted windows of the surrounding structures began to flicker and die, the dragon's shimmering gold scales beginning to glow ever so slightly...

"If my creators had managed to carry out their plans, then yes. It would be beyond my capabillity" Spinnerax replied with an uninsect-like rumbling from within his throat, his metal mandibles never moving as he spoke. "But seeing as they didnt," He went on to say, his menacing visor flashing momentarilly "I would like to establish that I am not, nor will I ever be your friend." He lowered himself to the ground, taking note of the power fluctuations around the dragon.

"Mmm, I suppose that's fair," King Ghidorah hissed in a businesslike tone. "Regardless, it's clear you can speak, and I've made it clear that I can speak. You do the math. Would you like to talk, or would you rather we just burn this city to the ground in a massive, earth-shattering brawl? I'm sure the humans will appreciate it..."

"And what would I talk about with a creature that thinks mathematics is involved with conversation?" Spinnerax asked, making an electronic warbling afterwards. "Though I must give you credit. Having the slightest numerical concept puts you above many other creatures in terms of intelligence. Congratulations, dragon"

"Oh good, you have a sense of humor," King Ghidorah replied dryly, ignoring the jibe. "Why, I only wish to talk about you! I've been to many planets in this galaxy over the course of many, many years, but I have yet to see something like you! An amalgamation of flesh and steel, a creature built for one purpose: destruction and war. And yet, here you are, trying to defend these weak-willed little monkeys from certain doom!" The space dragon made a chilling laugh. "The irony is almost sickening..."

"I defend life, cretin. These beings just have the intelligence to do more with their lives, and I will not stand idle and watch the likes of you destroy all of what they have managed to accomplish thus far" Spinnerax rumbled, staring down the dragon. "Tell me, what are your motivations. What drives you to do the things you do?"

By now, several squadrons of specially designated jets were closing in on the sight, the aircraft carrying powerful explosive missiles, among other weapons in their arsenal. For all the pilots knew, both creatures were a threat, and both had to be neutralized...

"And what have these creatures ever done for you?" King Ghidorah asked. "Have they ever saved your life? Perhaps they went to great lengths to keep you safe after some sort of crippling blow you took? Maybe something emotional like that?" The space dragon laughed again, looking up at Spinnerax. "And here you are, asking me about my motivations, after trying so hard to destroy me like I was some beast that had no purpose. Yet these little... things, who have done nothing for you, and likely see you as nothing more than what you think of me as, they deserve protection and respect? You call yourself a defender of life? You were built to END life! I have seen the defenders of planets before, and you are certainly not one of those, I assure you! You are a weapon of war, and nothing you ever do will change that! At least, not in the eyes of these humans on some backwater mudball in a tiny pocket of the cosmos..."

"You misunderstand, though it is no suprise" Spinnerax replied, suddenly shooting off from his spot and reappearing suddenly over the dragon, gusts of wind blowing down on it. "I have seen too many perish to the likes of you, monster, but not anymore. I may be a weapon, but the blood I spill will ensure that this world will continue to support life both great and small. I may be seen as a threat, but I care not for such a thing. I do not wish to be a hero in their eyes. I fight for my own cause" At this, the wasp's horn began to glow once more, wisps of red light trailing off of the ornate weapon...
