Laura's blade soon glows with a fiery brightness, to allow them to see better and to scare off the menace in the shaows.

"Begone, foul demon! You have no buisness with us!"

The walls of draxon lit up with fire, the guards watching for intruders, the arches staying ready in case something comes into view. The soldiers rested in the barracks, unaware of the approaching threat...

Nitsunobue continued following the group in the shadows, smelling an alien scent coming from behind, but focused on the group for the most part....

Tetto'eko grew increasingly more nervous as the journey continued. His thoughts were interrupted by Mordecai's own: "Do you hear something?" "No. And that is exactly what has me on my guard." Both the Skink and his draconic companion knew that a forest is always alive with sound, day in and day out. However, now they were surrounded with cloying silence. No birds, no large animals, not even the buzz of an insect. There was a predator nearby, and Tetto'eko was concerned that it wasn't just their new dragon friend flying high above...

Confident that Sammael had his loose ends taken care of, and now fully rejuvenated, Zazikel spread his leathery wings and took to the skies, his draconic form warping and twisting until it became an indistinct mist of sheer darkness and shadow, invisible in the night sky except where it blotted out the stars in its passing. Next stop, Germania...

Tetto'eko and Mordecai weren't the only ones who had sensed the change. Andruil, though seemingly relaxed, was on full alert, his feral golden eyes scanning for a cause of the sudden change, his razor sharp senses looking for whatever could silence the forest around them. Arsenic...I hope you're listening in....We need every one to be on full alert...I'm fairly sure we're on the brink of an attack...a nasty one thought the man as he walked, his arm casually on the hilt of his blade, the runes covering it shimmering brightly though he made no show of it, relying on any observing enemy's ignorance, the blade having been glowing the whole time they were in the area, leaving them ignorant of the nature of the glow...

Kristov bolted down one of the main roads in the city, the stallion panting beneath him, as the horse's eyes had begun to take on an eerie green shade, glowing lightly as the muscle mass around the shoulders increased, the horse's tail growing long gradually, becoming more and more whip-like as he went...

"Perhaps you have some natural affinity for finding them" growled Septimus with a smile, growing more at ease as he left the village behind him, gliding high above the Asterian continent, heading towards the unknown that was Zuppoland...

"Then that is very fortunate. Our journey would be much more difficult if everyone we met turned against us like that" Desrium said simply, his voice doing nothing betray his annoyance with the fact. "Next time we need to make a stop like that, I will retire to your bags so as to prevent an outburst" He added, regretting not doing so before. He expected the commotion yet did nothing to avoid it...

Akuro began to slow down after getting some distance from the clearing. The black Kitsune looked around, before he moved on. That dragon... it was incredibly powerful for it to have such a demon under it's control. If only he could posess it's body. Then, he could be the undisputed ruler of Aster, and plunge the entire continent in darkness, but, he was too weak.... Akuro looked back behind him, at his 7 tails blowing in the breeze of the oncoming night. If only he had two more tails... If only...

As the guard plummeted, he screamed out in terror. The other two guards, upon hearing the scream, whirled around to face the direction of the scream. "Sound th alarm!" One guard called. The other guard, agreeing all too much, pulled out from a strap in his uniform a horn, then blew into it as hard as he could. A long, loud wailing sound echoed from the horn. It blasted across the relatively silent city of Tristan, reaching the ears of all across the city. It was a two-fold warning, one to the civilians to head into their homes and lock up, and for any soldiers to gear and and prepare for the worst...

In the castle, Trajan was laying down in his bed, starring up at the ceiling. He had been thinknig all day about his decision earlier. He didn't want to do it, but there had been no other evidence. It was the only solution he could have seen. Unless there was something he had been missing, something that had slipped under his nose...

That was when the sound of the horn reached his ears. He turned, looking out of the window, into the city. Somewhere in the city, something horrible was happening. Trajan sat up, before throwing his head into his hands. Was this an omen to something far worse that was going ot happen? Was this, punishment for him having made he wrong choice? He didn't know...

Out of the shrubbery from behind the two came a lone huergah, smaller compared to most. It quickly pounced on to the assassin while her back was turned, and pinned her. Just before it could do much though, an arrow hit it and the force of the blow as well as from being unprepared for even that, it stumbled to the side a bit. A warrior, a knight in golden armor, assisted by two of his finest warriors from the royal guard, had been travelling to the village to see why supplies had recently stopped coming to the rest of the kingdom. Considering they had found their answer just then, the archer on horseback fired another arrow at the beast but missed as it retreated...

Near Akuro, a robed creature is seen out in the open, with blazing red eyes and a hooked blade in place of its left hand. An iron mask covers its face, as it seems to glare at Akuro for a long time, hissing....

Nitsunobue's footsteps were slightly audible from the shrubbery, the no-so-companion noticing the disturbing silence as well. The horned tyrant grunts, listening, trying to hear the approach of this alien menace, sure that it must be nearby....

Laura lowers her blade as the beast retreats, looking upon the golden warrior.

"Thank you, sir. May I ask your name?"

sarah looks at how dark it is now. She had fallen asleep floating on water! Thankfully, her friends were still nearby.

"Daddy, I think we shoul go home," sarah states aloud.

If one were to look at the side of the wall, they would find through the darkness that it was covered with pale, nightmarish creatures, gnashing their teeth hungrily. As the horn blared, the creatures climbed the walls in seconds, launching themselves over and into the city, the two guards, being the closest prey, were quickly torn apart, one creature slicing one of the guards in half with its guillotine-like head.

"I am sir Enext Herigan, son of king Mandu Herigan the Third," The knight responded, raising his helmet's faceplate. "Seems we came here just on time, eh?" the swordsman behind Enext said, getting off of his horse. He was followed by the archer and their leader as Kiara got up.

Ikargu nodded in agreement, close to Sarah this time rather than in the middle of the lake itself. He and Saurgu climbed out of the water, the former lowering himself for Sarah shortly after shaking himself a bit, sending water everywhere...

Laura soon sheathes her blade.

"Indeed. So, do you know kiara?..."

Sarah climbs onto Ikargu's back, grasping his tail spines. She was shivering from being in the water so long, and suddenly being exposed to the air. She holds on tight, before speaking.

"I'm ready, Ikargu. Let's go."

All through the city of Tristan, soldiers were gearing up and heading out to the wall. They grabbed their armor, shields, swords, knives, bows, arrows, Crossbows, Halberds, everyhing they had and headed off. several knights hurrid over to the stable, where they got onto horseback and rod off toward the wall. Every soldier and guard was heading out to defend the wall, for an attack against the city of Tristan was an attack against Emperor Trajan, the highest offense in the land. THy would defend this city, and their emperor, with their lives...

Down underground, Dione could hear the horn, and the soldiers hurrying above her head. Something was going on, but what it was she didn't know... The girl wrapped herself up in a hole-ridden blanket that the guards had thrown in to try and keep herself warm. She was cold, scared, and, most painfully for her, alone. If only Lamia were here... Dione thought as she slowly fell to sleep, tears going down her face as she remembered the days of her youth... the days of her innocence...

Akuro turned his head slowly and eyed the masked figure. the wolf-like fox demon narrowed his single eye. He could literally smell the evil coming from the masked figure, but it was a far weaker scent than what he had picked from Arashi. The Kitsune smirked. If he needed to, he could atleast posses this thing's body... but first, better to see why it was here. "What is it that bring you here, mortal?" Akuro rasped, the demon's muscles rippling beneath his skin. Perhaps, this thing could be of good use for him...

As the guards began to gather near the wall, there were numerous dark shapes moving through the sky, the city growing darker by the second as torches were smashed, hacked, and thrown. The creatures were targeting what they feared most: the light, but were also unintentionally giving themselves an edge...

The masked being approaches Akuro, moving with an almost exagerated slowness, before he suddenly appears right in front of the kitsune. The creature manages to croak out something.

"Lord Burzum... has requested your audience..."

The being reaches into his robe and produces a scroll, setting it before the kitstune.

"He wishes to meet a demon of your.... caliber... in person..."

The creature turns around and begins to leave. Before he disappears from sight, however, he turns and says:

"Come to the wastelands if you wish, and head north to the volcano... that is where you will find Gorgoroth..."

After that, it disappears from sight...

Enext nods, saying, "I've known her ever since she was just a young person, coming here with her travelling family. I don't recall what had happened to them, but I do know that they just went missing one day, never to return to the kingdom."

Ikargu began to fly into the air, heading directly for the mountains...

Heavy footfalls accompanied by the rustling of trees reached the village Septimus and his companion just left, signaling something big was on the move. Moving on all four feet, the hybrid made its way toward the village, two heads sniffing loudly as it did. Oblivious to the settlement he was invading, Chromatus walked out of the trees and right through the village's defensive wall, the wood splintering harmlessly against his bulk, though he didn't seem to notice...

Akuro simply watched as the figure left, before the demon bent down and picked up the scroll in his jaws. So more knew of his presence than he had thought? This intrested the Kitsune. For his entire existance of over hundreds of years, few had known of his being, and even fewer knew of his name... which he perferred. This sudden rise in popularity was something he didn't feel comftorable with. He'd much perfer to remain in the shadows, reemaining in hiding while his plans worked themselves out... no matter. The wolf-like beast turned and headed off north, wondering what would be needed of him... Those few who knew of him perferred not to be aquainted with Akuro... and for good reason.

6 years ago. it was the middle of Winter, and most of Tristan was buried in snow, a rare occurance that only the oldest of th einhabitants had seen before. There was a deadly silence hanging over the city, as most people had gone indoors to stay home. Trajan wasn't the Emperor at this time, it was someone else. The city streets were empty, with no civilians, no guards, no soldiers, no horses, no children, no one at all out. The Dragon Riders had yet to arrive to clear the streets from the massive blanket of snow. The markets were closed down, and so was the local bank. The castle was shut up as usual, though there were no guards outside; they were all inside, staying warm. The swamps of Germania were also silent, with many of the local carnivores hibernating, especially the Zeuglodonts, which were encased in ice, waiting for spring to arrive, so that they could thaw out. All in all, it was an eerie silence spread all across Tristan and the surrounding swamps... except, for the sound of laughter, which was ringing out from one of the parks in Tristan...

The Soldiers looked around, their faces showing the fear they had as the creatures went after the light. A few soldiers, realizing something, prepared their torches. These few were from the fire division of the Germanian forces, one of the more obscure military forces. They lit their torches on fire, then began to wave them figuring that the creatures feared the light. If that was the case, then perhaps...

On the otherside of the wall, Thems raised up one of her 8 heads. The noise caused by the creatures had awoken her from her slumber, and she was hungry. THe serpent hissed as she began to slither toward the scent of the creatures, her steel-like hide brushing up against trees and bushes...

The masked being had disappeared without a trace; his scent and presence seemed to have vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

Laura looks shocked and turns to Kiara.

"I'm sorry about your family..."

Sarah holds on tight, ready to go to bed....

The torch-waving guards became more of a target then the stationary torches, many being hoisted into the air only to be torn to bloody pieces far above their fellows. The creatures stuck to the air, where the light of the torches couldn't reach, only diving down to attack any of those foolish enough to carry a torch.

After the first few torch-bearers were picked off, numerous swords slashed through the air, slashing through any creature that got close enough. The archers fired into the airs, their arrows striking the creatures, causing those that were fatally hit to fall to the ground. Meanwhile, the torch-bearers grew in number as more and more of them lit their torches, using the increasing light to keep the creatures at bay, at atleast to serve as distractions for the archers to set up on.

Thems was now right alongside the wall, the gigantic serpent smelling the blood being spilled inside the city. Sure, she had come here to eat, but there was something about the cries of the dying soldiers that drew her, something that made her want to protect them. Perhaps this was because she had been raised by a human, and thus, considered humans to be something to protect, and not fear. Perhaps, it was because she hadn't learned to fear humans at all. Whatever the reason, she was determined to protect the city. Rearing up, her heads and necks reached up over the 30 foot wall, allowing her nocturnal eyes to see just what was going on...

Akuro continued to head north, until he stopped. He put down the scroll. He might as well read it first before continuing. If it contained some useful information he'd need, then it would definitely benefit him. The wolf-like demon pushed the scroll with his snout a few times, before it finally opened. If only his last vessel hadn't been cut down...

In the snow-covered city, two young children were playing around in an abandoned park near the center of the city. One of them was Dione, then just an 11 year old girl with short hair. The other was Lamia, who was 15 at the time, with long blonde hair. The two were playing in the snow, having the best time of their lives. After hitting Dione in the side with a snowball, the tall blonde girl grabbed Dione and hoisted her up onto her back, letting her enjoy the highest of the falling snowflakes. Both were wrapped up in the warmest clothings their fathers could put them in, with Dione in a large coat a few sizes too large for her, and Lamia in a old sweater with a scarf wrapped around her neck. It was like paradise for both of them, with Lamia fulfilling the Big Sister role for Dione...

But it was a paradise that was about to be shattered...

The swooping aerial attacks of the Nethrezim made attacking them difficult, but not impossible. Archer, torch-bearer, and soldier alike were thrown into the air, cut in half by a charging Nethrezim, or had their body parts cut completely off as the creatures passed. Unlike before, the creatures seemed ignorant to their fallen brethren, focusing instead on what they believed to be an enemy. Feeding would come later, after the city's inhabitants were all slain...
