Crusher jerked awake at the sound of several raptor calls. ones that he knew. mating calls. But the only Raptors he knew of that could be doing that were Darkness or Steeltalon. the pack was coupled already, and ShapClaw still had RawClaw to care for, so she couldn't be doing it...wait a minute....what if SharpClaw thought RawHide was responsible for it? that could cause more trouble...Crusher decided that when RawHide actually did return to the nest, he and Hunter should go with him, to make sure that they can be reassured that he wasn't responsible. Crusher looked at RawHide, finding that he was still asleep. Crusher felt sorry for the raptor. a misunderstood attack by SharpClaw had ruined her mate's life. and they had been mates even longer that Exile and Blade. he lay his head down and rested, trying to put the thoughts out of his head so he could rest...

Darkness sighed inside the cave. I knew it was a dumb idea... he snarled again. For the first time, he actually persude goals that were natural, not vengeful. And yet, he failed miserably. Darkness sighed again and layed his head back down on the cave floor...

Silver went over to the stream and drank, closing her eyes as she mulled over the day's events. She was concerned and confused as to why Darkness had come back looking so crushed. Silver didn't dare ask, though. Knowing Darkness, he could get angrier or even turn on her.

the following day, Crusher opened his eyes to see Hunter dragging in an Anatotitan. Crusher made a slight grin, and got up, after nudging Rampage to wake up. he walked over to the kill and helped Hunter drag it to the empty edge of the nest, and lay the kill down there...

Silver winced when she saw Darkness run into the jungle. If he makes that noise, Steeltalon will only get angry! she thought worriedly. This isn't good...

scarback woke and saw that it was morning. he got up and returned to where he left the gali carcass. there were some compies starting to eat from the carcass. scarback killed one of the compys and ate it to at least reduce his hunger slightly. he started to eat the tail of the gali carcass and soon, the gali was a skeleton. scarback was satisfied for now. he walked to the southeast and found a stream. he began to drink from the stream after making sure thta there weren't any predators hiding near by or in the water.

Steeltalon left Redtooth's territory and returned to her own, She noticed Silver was looking tense. "What's wrong?" Steeltalon asked. "Darkness," Silver growled. "He's going to try again." Steeltalon immediately went into the caves and went far back, until she was under another entrance. Silver followed, not wanting to put up with the annoying high-pitched barks.

Darkness ran to another spot and barked the cry again. He waited, and heard no response. He was determinded, however, and continued the cry in different locations until he was hungry. The hurt seemed to go away, and he was now fully determind to find a mate. He felt different in some way, but continued to the cave anyway. He dug into the Camarasaur corpse hungrily when he reached it. Soon he was full, and decided to swim a little in the stream. He walked over and looked at himself. Darkness snarled in surprise. The normally Jet Black raptor was now a gray color, and black stripes could now be seen, which were normally hidden. A stripe of dark red ran down the top of his snout to the bottom. Darkenss snarled again and ran away from the stream. What the hell is going on?! he snarled out loud. He decided to forget the swimming, and he climbed the rock overlooking the stream and layed down, still confused about his sudden change in appearance...

Steeltalon climbed out of the cave after hearing Darkness snarl and blinked in surprise. "I could ask you the same question," she growled coldly.

Redtooth, who had frantically been looking for Switchblade and was further irritated by the mating calls from a raptor, gratefully thanked Steeltalon. He turned to Swichblade and hissed, "Please don't go running off like that! I was scared that you could have been hurt!"

Darkness turned around to see Steeltalon coming out of the cave. Immediatly, his colors started to change to normal; the grayish color returning to black, the stripes disappearing, and the red mark fading. He stared at Steeltalon, not knowing what she wanted....

"What the hell is going on?" Steeltalon snarled, her eyes flashing dangerously. Silver came out of the caves behind her, eyeing the two raptors warily. "Steeltalon, try to be reasonable," the hatchling whispered. Steeltalon ignored her.

scar back hear noises near by. he recognized them as raptors talking to each other. curious, scar back headed in the direction of the sounds. he found 3 raptors near a stream. he hadn't made any attempt to cover up his enterance. he growled to the black raptor:"what is going on?"

scarback nodded and be fore leaving. growled to the female:"my name is scarback." he left the black raptor. he didn't want to get into a fight with the raptor. the black raptor seemed to have had more fights than scarback had. scarback decided to head to the southeast from where he had seen the raptors.

Steeltalon spat at Darkness and went back into the caves, her tail flicking irritatedly. She wasn't in the mood for intrusions. She had to be alone.

Neptune,Claws,and Bull's herd headed towards another place for food. A group of Dryosaurs scurried behind the huge herbivores. They might get free food.
