"Megawoo, Desunka" responded the King simply. eyeing the Dragon, he sighed. "I take it you wish to know about the Hueilin?" he inquired, Septimus nodding simply. "Well, the story of the Dragon is a vague one at best. My knowledge of him is limited to the events surrounding the Disciples whose successors would be the colleagues of Desrium's creator. But I will tell you all I can" said Sheemaka, Septimus nodding appreciatively. "Start at the beginning. the first thing you can tell me about the Dragon" growled the Scholar, Sheemaka walking back to his throne slowly, sitting as Septimus followed...
"This Dragon was one of the only ones of it's kind Aster had ever seen, though I cannot speak for Aster now. The Dragon had been exploring the continent, building contacts in many places and exploring knowledge of the magical kind from the farthest reaches of Aster, and even from lands beyond the Jade Sea to the East. It had been known for it's affinity towards electricity, having more than once obliterated a person or creature for crossing it. Before it's journey beyond the Jade Sea, it had seemed very much like a normal Dragon, though it's intelligence and ability to deal with humans was almost unrivalled amongst Dragonkind, being capable of writing, alongside poetic and story-weaving abilities known to some Dragon Species" explained Sheemaka, Septimus curling his tail around his haunches as he sat, watching with interest. "When the Dragon came back however, it's strength had increased dramatically...and it's temperament had become significantly more cold. It had apparently encountered a land where demons ran free, destroying anything and everything in their way. We cannot confirm what happened, but evidently the Dragon had fought alongside some of the last humans on that continent, before retreating when all hope was lost. There are some theories as to what happened. Some scholars believed the demons had no idea what had happened to it, perhaps thinking it had died in the battle, and had made no effort to cross the Jade Sea to Aster. Others believe, perhaps a bit adventurously, that the Dragon's sheer mental ability had allowed it to erase it from their memory, or at least create an illusion that fooled them into thinking it was dead. This brings me to the part that concerns Desrium" said the King. Septimus watched eagerly, wanting to know what happened to the Dragon. Perhaps he could find a lead to find another of his kind exiled from his home. someone he could go to to learn...
"Shortly after the Dragon returned, it stopped in one of Zuppoland's coastal cities to rest before heading onwards in it's trips. Word of an Archdemon ravaging some of the factions west of Zuppoland's borders spread, and it was known that an ongoing battle was taking place between the Archdemon and Magi serving the Kingdom of Valenhad. The Dragon seemed interested, and apparently wished to investigate. However, the Archdemon came to the city first. At first it was small things. random animals going mad and attacking people, people complaining of horrifying visions, the crime-rate rising. But soon, it had sparked an unfounded rebellion, leaving the city ablaze. the Demon rose amidst the smoke and fires of the city, mocking the people and beginning to slaughter them outright. As the Magi of the Royal Guard moved to stop it, they were possessed and enslaved, systematically turning our own forces against us. flaming, robed, skeletal liches unleashed waves of necromantic and demonic magic upon the people. The City would've been destroyed if not for the Dragon" explained the King. "What happened?" asked Septimus curiously, his tail flicking from side to side, the wide fan-like tip acting to cause a light, cool draft in random directions, sometimes washing over himself and the king, others blowing against the oblivious Desrium. "The Archdemon eyed the Dragon as it tore across the sky of the city and the sky seemed to darken overhead with storm clouds. The Demon laughed and mocked the Dragon, stating that it would nevertheless be a convenient vessel for it's demonic power. The Dragon spread it's arms out, black and red streaks of magical energy swirling around in a ball between the two arms. The Dragon recited a language that no Asterian had ever heard before, and runic patterns ignited the streets and rooftops of the city below, made up of what seemed like a pentagram, an octogram and a cross in the middle. The magic was undoubtedly Demonic in origin. What happened next was anyone's guess. The Demon shrieked in fury, as if it had been burned by something unnatural, and it charged. All that was seen was the Demon leap at the Dragon, collide, and then a massive flash of red engulfed the city. the abominations created by the Demon instantly collapsed in charred husks on the ground, and the Dragon landed, panting with exhaustion, it's entire body covered in red Demonic runes, as the rain began to fall, gradually extinguishing the fires in the city. The Dragon later told the Magi that he had imprisoned the Archdemon for eternity, and that he would soon head North and create a Magical 'cage' where the Demon would be held, to keep it from gradually corrupting the vessel within which it was kept at that moment. a week later, a massive ring of tall, rectangular black marble pillars stood on the cliffs, linked by a solid marble ring overhead, turning the gap between any two pillars into an arch." said the King with a sigh, his eyes glazed over briefly, before regaining their original shade as he eyed Septimus...
"Did the Dragon have a name?" asked Septimus, excited at the revelation. "Yes. It's name was.....Arashi" said the King, Septimus' expression almost immediately collapsing into a look of horror. "Arashi?!" he responded in shock. "Yes, Septimus. Arashi" responded the King, understanding his reaction. "How can you be sure?" asked the Scholar incredulously. "The rulers of my faction have been passing on the most important memories of our people from generation to generation for the last 3000 years. Just as yours and Desrium's service to Zuppoland will be remembered, so to have the actions of many before you. Your father Arashi is one such friend to the Zuppolandian people" said Sheemaka. Septimus nodded, his head hanging, in a blend of shock and confusion. But how? He had never left the Kirrahara mountain range before! How could he possibly have helped the Zuppolandians? Coming here may have given answers to Desrium's questions, but it only created more questions for him. And worst of all...this was all the information that was known about his father. The Dragon turned, heading towards Desrium and the balcony beyond. "Thank you for your help Sheemaka. I wish you luck in the days to come" he growled. "Thank you both, Desrium and Septimus, for your help. May the Eternal Conch always watch over you" responded the King with a nod as the Dragon looked back at him, before leaving the throne room to attend to other matters as the Dragon left, grabbing Desrium and setting him on his shoulders before leaping into the air out the balcony, heading for the exit of the Inner City...
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"
