Deka's shadow flickered turbulently for a few seconds as the negative energy and electricity passed through him simultaneously, before solidly forming as an imitation of Zazikel's once more; the flames, once more, were redirected, this time shooting at the guard, Immanis.
Moving with inhuman strength and speed, a tendril extended from behind Deka. Using the same tactic that he had with the guard, it wrapped around the sword's blade, wrenching it from his grasp.
Swiftly moving the weapon upward, he stopped it millimeters from the King's throat.
In an almost unconcerned voice, as if the small skirmish hadn't happened, he said "New offer, master demon. You hand here the amulet, and I wont set foot outside this city until our... alliance... has been confirmed. Oh, and perhaps your new puppet will get to see tomorrow's daylight," the Shade added as an afterthought, the sword emitting sparks and glowing ominously...
Clarity of thought before rashness of action...

Draco backed off, putting his hands up at Deka's underhanded move. Immanis clenched his fists, temtped to just blast the damned thing with lightning again, but did not want to risk harming his friend, nor risk the shade killing Draco. Draco was just as fearful; he could simply blast the ahde with fire, or he could turn into his Were-dragon form... but would he be able to do it fast enough?....

Deka never even managed to complete his sentence. A mass of shadow shot from the wall and smashed into the Shade so hard it actually knocked the creature backwards, Zazikel putting his full, prodigious power into the tackle. The power was well beyond what Deka had seen before, and was enough to even knock the sword from the Shade's grasp, one of the Archdemon's tendrils wrapping around it to keep it from harming Draco and tossing it carelessly to the side. Much of Zazikel's form, still a formless mass of sheer darkness, now extended into the chamber, eyes flaring brightly. The Archdemon wrapped Deka in several tendrils, all glowing with life-draining negative energy, while another held the amulet aloft, out of reach. The Demon's voice was booming, deep and commanding, yet surprisingly calm, far more powerful than previously, with enough force to shake the very walls and verging on deafening the others in the room.

"Our Hydra friend is still waiting, it seems" rumbled Septimus as he swam, seeing the resting beast easily beside the bonfire, with remnants of what looked like a hut or shack of some sort over it's form. the Dragon wondered whether or not to change direction and head further away before nearing the shore, but somehow he felt it wouldn't make much difference either way...

"Not very surprising, if we are where I think we are" responded Andruil. this forest had been blotted out on his map with stains from the dirt kicked up during the fight against Zazikel, so he couldn't see the name. But now that he had seen his surroundings and noted the drastically different aura around it, he was fairly sure this was the Shadepines forest....and if he was right....Banshees were just the beginning...

"It seems to be sleeping" Desrium commented; following the curves of the massive bulk laying on the beach and realizing that it was indeed the five headed behemoth. Shadows flickered over its slumbering form. "Bedibai Hissychomp" he added in the Zuppolandian language.

'Which is where, exactly?' Arsenic asked, turning from his inspection of the darkening bruise on Vix's face. She swallowed the somewhat annoyed sounds she wanted to make, knowing that he was just concerned for her.

"Shadepines forest...the most deadly...or at least, one of the most deadly forests in Aster. If there's a creature anywhere on Aster that's known for brutally slaughtering or otherwise disfiguring it's victims in the most unspeakable ways imaginable, you can bet you can find it here. Those banshees are probably the least of our worries" responded Andruil grimly. "Typical that the one blotched bit of ink on my map would be the most vital part. Still, there's no other way to the Dwarven Kingdoms that'll get us there as fast as this" he added with a sigh as he checked Furax for injuries, the horse having a few shallow wounds, but luckily none especially dangerous...

"Let's hope it stays that way" said Septimus as he swam forward, giving the Hydra a very wide berth, keeping as much distance between himself and it as possible, moving in an arc towards the mainland to avoid coming anywhere near close to it. For some reason, he got the impression it wasn't sleeping because it had given up. It was too close to where they were for that. More likely it was sleeping because it was waiting...

At Septimus' words, Desrium lowered his body, hunkering down on his friend's back. "Ssh. We're being sneaky" said Desrium afterwards, his already quiet voice almost drowned out by the seaside ambience of crashing waves. He was now ever aware of the energy coursing through the world around him, emanating from his dragon companion and the hydra in the distance and he wondered if the same could be said for the multi headed drake. Would that make attempts to go past it undetected futile if it shared the ability? The fact it was able to follow Septimus for miles despite the Hueilin's great speed added credence to the possibility the hydra possessed extraordinary tracking capabilities...

The hydra's green head lifted suddenly, looking in the direction the two swam through half-closed eyes. A moment later, the rest of the beast began to stir...

It was at this point that Septimus had had enough. "What do you want of me, Hydra?" murmured Septimus' voice in Chromatus' many minds. His life was far too long for him to waste it running from a random Hydra that had suddenly become obsessed with him...While he was certain he could likely outlive it, he wasn't prepared to wait that long...

Septimus' magical field underwent a shift when he made mental contact with the hydra on the shore; a shift that Desrium was aware of. He was now enlightened, able to read the flow of mana surrounding him and understand the forces at work, though at a basic level for the time being. It was a skill he must have had in the past, and it was a skill he had to learn again more than 800 years later. Perhaps along the way, his prior triumphs would reveal themselves as he regained his grasp on who he was- other than the scourge of Zuppoland- that is...

"I do not know," the Hydra responded in unison, the various minds acting as one single being. At this telepathic communication, the rest of the creature awoke fully, staring in the direction of the dragon with all of its heads...

"Then why do you follow me?" responded the scholar calmly, his shimmering cyan eyes staring back at the multiple pairs of eyes the Hydra used to watch him, a pair of blue stars on the black background...

Desrium eyed the stirring hydra as he noted the patterns in mana flow from his friend. The changes were like signatures of different types of magic and this one was familiar. He felt it before, when Septimus attempted to speak to him through telepathy and was subsequently rejected. Thinking back even further; Desrium inferred that on the first night, he must have been unconsciously drawn to Septimus by his magical presence. The Blood Omen was weak and in need of power and Septimus provided an excellent outlet. The fact the dragon fed him just so happened to be the thing that laid the foundation of their companionship...

Guame simply nodded. "Is that so?" he replied, before turning his gaze off into the distance for a moment. No wonder he picked up an unusual scent from those messangers from Draxon. Now it made sense. Whatever it was that was going on there, this armored being had a hand in it... or maybe something else entirely. "These are definitely dark times here in Aster. Me and Djinn will head off soon to try and unite as many lands as we can to stop this evil." Guame huffed as he turned his gaze once again to Tzeentch, Djinn simply nodding in return...

Nitsunobue continued searching for his friends in the realm of shadepines. He was lost and alone in this demonic realm, and he knew not what to do about it. He tried sniffign them out, finding their vibrations- damn near everything to get a basic idea of their possible locations. He sighed aloud, and continued on his way. If he failed to find them by sunrise, he told himself, he would leave this area and hope for the best.

"More people I've failedto protect," Nitsunobue thought to himself....

Sharavuras headed out from Gorgoroth to find others to gather under Burzum's banner. There had to be others willing.... a king who sought power would be quite useful indeed....

The bush stirred, and the little black shadow began moving once more, moving along in a hopping gait, it pushed a path through the grass. It pushed into a patch of levelled grass, where a hare had bedded down. As it stumbled into the sunlight, she spotted the glint of a blade.

She stiffened, looking over towards the cart some 100 meters away.

A blade didn't mean anything though. Any traveller this far into the wilds would want to be armed. Then she spotted it; there was a heavy bolt crossbow strung across the bada's back, bouncing along with every hopping step. She couldn't see it clearly from her height, but guessed it's purpose. She banked around, widening her circle. The wind ruffled through her feathers, helping to cool her down. It was a blisteringly hot day, the sun beating down from above, the only clouds seemingly banished far off to the West, rolling over the mountains. The brush below was bone dry.

Currently, the little figure she was watching was making it's way through the grass towards her charge, a professor called Upside. He was sitting a top his wagon, his Sand Runner pawing the ground lazily to it. Some of his students had been here about a weeks previously, studying the local flora and fauna. A particular plant had come to attention and he wanted to study it himself.

He had hired Midnight to protect him, and with her rates, that meant serious business was going down. She scanned across the plain again, still turning up blank. She was tracking a single suspected bandit as he trekked closer to the professor. She'd spotted him by chance on one of her swoops. His scent was masked, the sign of a professional. However, she couldn't see any others. No back up, nothing. Having checked the surrounding brush thoroughly, she was getting anxious.

She was certain he was a bandit, he would use the crossbow to kill the Sand Runner, then hide from the guards. Then his comrades would sneak in and be free to attack the wagon without fear of the Sand Runner's keen sense of smell giving them away. Except without finding the rest of the party waiting in ambush, there was no guarantee that the lone figure pushing through the brush wasn't just some lost hunter. Cursing, she continued to circle. She couldn't confront him until the rest were accounted for, otherwise she'd be vulnerable to crossbow fire.

She flicked around, gliding towards the wagon once more.

Septimus growled lowly in discomfort. he had a feeling that'd be the answer he received. a brief peak into the beast's mind revealed it truly did not know why it was following him. problem was...where things happened involuntarily, they were usually instinctual. and when instincts got involved, it was a case of survival of the fittest. As curious as he was about WHAT exactly it would do if he was close enough, his own instincts forced him to keep his distance. An immortal race like the Hueilin were defined by even more heightened self preservation instincts, because of the fact that the only way they COULD die was through external forces such as attack. Still...if it had followed him this far.....how much further WOULD it follow him before giving up? would it EVER give up? "Explore Aster, Hydra. It is much more worthy of your time than I am. You will find things you actually would want to encounter. It would be a far better investment of your time than aimlessly and pointlessly following me" suggested Septimus telepathically to the beast as he approached the shore, maintaining a set amount of distance between himself and the Hydra...

She tilted one wing, her flight bending gracefully to the side. Movement caught her eye, a bird of prey diving town towards the underbrush. A good sized kite could be dangerous for any bada, but this one wasn't going for Upside's wagon. She watched it dive, it's claws beginning to extend, before the bird suddenly wheeled away, abandoning it's attack. Eyes narrowing, she focused on where it had aimed itself. She noticed a bush shuffling oddly, then the figure hidden beneath it. She did a quick double take to make sure she had really seen it and sure enough, there were 3 badai figures, dressed in badlands camoflauge, full body cloaks concealing them, with quarry bushes strapped to their backs. How had they managed to sneak past her screen? They couldn't have. She'd have spotted such cumbersome gear from a mile away. They must have been waiting here since before she arrived. How they knew where to wait was beyond her, unless it was just coincidence. She gave two sharp calls. The wagon's guards looked up and immediately jumped down to the ground, reading their weapons and shields, surrounding the professor. Upside looked up as well, before reluctantly ducking his head inside the wagon.

She looked back for the first bandit, the crossbowman. She spotted the glint of a steel bolt head. The weapon fired with a loud clap, and she easily arced to the side, evading it. The small badai weapons were useless against her at this altitude, even if it had hit her it probably wouldn't have done much. The noise of the weapon set off the Sand Runner, the beast growling and breaking through the ranks of the guards, dashing off into the brush after the bandit. He threw down his crossbow and started running, the brush hampering his progress. The Sand Runner easily chased him down, tackling the hapless bandit into the ground. Midnight circled away, scanning for the rest of the bandits. She spotted them fleeing through the brush, their camo discarded. She smiled to herself. How boring. Still. Work was work. She was paid well and more importantly she was helping the city. Prestige was important to her, and the city had it in abundance for those who worked for it's benefit.
